cahill_flyerA few words to put this project to bed.

Barbadians were told by Ministers Chris Sinckler, Denis Lowe, Prime Minister Stuart and others singing from the same hymn sheet that the Cahill Energy project was the best solution to manage energy from waste (EfW). They peddled the position that plasma gasification is proven technology. What advocates against the Cahill scam have tried to push into their thick skulls is that hitherto there was no plant in the world operating at the same ‘’industrial scale’’ to model the Barbados design. Barbados was being used as a ‘guinea pig’. Luckily for Barbados a relatively small group of Barbadians lead by Kammie Holder of the Future Centre Trust supported by White middleclass Barbados and social media banded together to become strident and effective advocates against the Cahill project.

Why do we opine the Cahill Energy project is dead?

An article appeared in a UK newspaper today (28.04.2016), read it!

Imagine if a citizen had to do this to any of our ministers or senators for the nonsense that they have been deciding on the behalf of Barbados. The politicians can feel proud that they have the people of Barbados humble with fear.

It’s only in Barbados and the Caribbean politicians are revered and hoisted on this high level…in other jurisdictions, they are put firmly in their places and reminded that they are hired by the taxpayers and can be fired by the taxpayers.

The ones in the islands believe themselves gods after election, untouchable and can do whatever they please, that’s why their behaviors are so horrendous.

Look, we are fighting for change so stop the same land this land that all the darn time and help the protest by putting what you know in a poster. Do you want to make a difference or just keep on trumpeting the same o same all the time? Geeeez get grip man.

  5. Bizzy in the newspaper today (again) claiming how much the garage intake is down/has fallen at SBRC. He reminds everyone that he is NOT concerned because SBRC, much like Ionics, have a take or pay contract with the GOB so whether SRBC receives 100 tonnes a day of garbage or the minimum contracted amount of 1,000 tonnes a day of garbage, SBRC has to be paid the same $34 M a year by the GOB (agents of the tax payers in Barbados).

  6. Sunshine Sunny Shine Avatar

Wooohooo way to go bizzy milk the tax payers while your partners in profit make you and Dem rich. Chris Sinckler and Freundel Stuart, the perfect brand, yeaaaaahhh.

  7. Make no mistake folks Barbados is becoming a garbage heap with litter and garbage everywhere mainly because some jackasses entered into a perverted and lopsided contract with SBRC.
The GOB being in a financial state of near ruin could not honour the financial obligations to pay SBRC so they decided to tax the people with the solid waste tax. The people being in a financial state of near ruin could not pay the solid waste tax so they decided to dump illegally all over Barbados.

One days things are going to change in this country and those who think they know Bajans will be on the receiving end of the shock of their lives.

  8. ………..and to think Solutions Barbados wants to take its candidates from within the business community of Barbados. Let Grenville put Bizzy inside the hen-house of Government and see what happens.

  9. Some civic minded person needs to share the SBRC contract with Barbadians at large. Can’t imagine the government would lock into terms that would disadvantage the country if garbage level dropped at a waste station.

The business community of this country, including the likes of Simpson, Bizzy, COW, Bjerkham, Tempro, Maloney, Seale etc etc reached an agreement (tacit as it was) to financially support the DLP in its efforts to win the election in 2013………….on one major condition. They are going to privatise all the viable and potentially viable income generating entities of Government. First to go is BNTCL, remember lions eat first and dominant lions eat before other lions.

Did you hear Chairman Harding begging the GOB no sell the Bridgetown Port? The Bajan people are so trusting and gullible that they are likely to see Harding as a patriot because of his statements, not realising that this is just his way of removing himself from blame when GOB and his Board privatises Barbados Port Inc to Maloney and Bjerkham.

After BNTCL is Bridgetown Port and GAIA, then SSA followed by the Polyclinics, then BNOC and NPC. They will try with the BWA but that is a complicated animal given its debt situation and unions.

  11. @ David.

“Financially, though, it is not hurting us. It does not make a bit of a difference to us because we have signed on a contract with the Government that we have to provide the facility to process 1 000 tonnes a day minimum.”

I think that was was the dude from Jose was trying to do, but Bizzy is a greedy pig and would not want to sharenanything with black people, he and his ilk’s sole intent is stealing as much as they can from blacks aided by black leaders.

  13. Well Well & Consequences Avatar
    Well Well & Consequences

I think that was was what the dude Cherry from Jose was trying to do,

Along with Bizzy fighting him down, that nasty little Minister Lowe was also blocking….none of them plan to stop robbing the taxpayers, even if not one bag of garbage is processed.

    Just remembered Cherry’s name.

  14. @ Well Well & Consequences,

Employees of Williams Industries own shares in the company. The majority of them are black.

I am sure they don’t share your opinion of Bizzy.

  15. @Hants

Even if the SBRC contract guarantees a minimum supply, is it necessary to rub taxpayers faces in the poo?

  16. Well Well & Consequences Avatar
    Well Well & Consequences

Hants…black people will accept anything, why dont Bizzy give them 50% shares in the company and have one of his bribee ministers manage his companies.

  17. @ Hants

Don’t mind Bizzy with that non-sense about his employees being owners of Williams Industries. Next time wunna see Bizzy or any of his employees ask him/them if they actually own shares or do they just profit-share, there is a big frigging difference between the two. His sidekick Staples owns shares and he is a white American.

  18. @ David,

yes he should rub our faces in it. We now know the value and terms of the contract. We complain about secrecy don’t we?

  19. Instead of talking and doing shiiite Bajans should stop dumping garbage in gullies, caves and people’s fields and send it to SBRC which has been pre paid to take 1000 tons per day.

  20. Here we go again!!!!

FOR THE FOURTH time in as little as three weeks, another illegal dumper has been caught red handed; this time in Amity Lodge, Christ Church.’

    Hants; re. your 3:18 pm post;

    That’s your best idea ever!

All: The most interesting part of the Dump DIP article in todays paper is where Bizzie is quoted as saying:

“It is very tough now. You do not get any money for it, and there are huge recycling plants in England closing down almost every week. The solution really to this kind of stuff…is Waste to Energy Plants.” Williams said there were many viable options, as the technology had been prven and successfully implemented across the world.

Could this be a hint that the Government might be going ahead with the Cahill Plant using a slightly different technology?

  22. Hants

Here is the challenge, while the GOB has a commitment to pay SBRC for 1,000 tons of garbage a day they have been struggling to meet the payment obligations so the MOF decided it need to pass the cost the garbage collectors. Anyone taking garbage to SBRC needs to pay the tipping fees first, this reduces the GOB liability to SBRC.

In practice what has happened is that people have decided that they can’t afford to pay the tipping fees, mainly because they can’t pass on the cost to their customers, so everyone has resorted to free illegal dumping. This was predicted when the MOF decided to go down the road of tipping fees.

  23. are-we-there-yet Avatar
    are-we-there-yet

    Hants;

I might have missed it. But did you say anything about people paying the tipping fee? To my limited understanding you suggested sending it to SBRC as SBRC has already been paid for it.

How did the black men in government get so dumb, so damn stupid…steupss.

  25. @ are-we-there-yet,

I admit to making a simplistic comment based on Bizzy saying only 500 tons are being delivered and the contract is for 1000.

I did not factor in the issue of a tipping fee.

  26. @ are-we-there-yet,

I would not be surprised if they build a WTE plant. Bajans do not protest seriously.

They will talk shiiite and write shiiite BEFORE and AFTER the plant is built.

  27. @Are-we-there-yet

Agree there is a hint that the configuration of the WtE maybe in the offing. The scale of a Cahill is not sustainable based on the failed plant in England. With just less than two years to go we wait to see how a substitute project will be mobilized.

As a person born in the 60`s its clear we have lost our way and the wealth is being concentrated in the hands of a few. In part due to austerity, fiscal constraints, corruption, poor governance and indifference by the masses.

What sort of country build its economy only on tourism? Our beloved Barbados is moving to a stage where the majority of our women will be working in industry for minimum wages. The males will be working in the hotel sector as barmen or gardeners. Some will be fortunate to get their parents to mortgage their properties for a student loan and migrate overseas after studies.

We are heading back where we came from in the 40`s.

Bizzy Williams must come clean and tell the country if its only for the money or about Barbados If Bizzy really cared he would tell the country if he contributes to political campaigns, to whom and what amounts.

Perhaps, he can tell the country if he sells B`s Recycling material and at what cost?

What SBRC does with the material its gets from Sanitation for free?

Is not a fact that B`s Recycling and Bizzy had a plan to make by products from tyres?

Cannot 90% of curb side waste not be recycled and exported? Thus why push the expensive WTE when legislated recycling can earn much needed foreign currency and provide hundreds of jobs.

Bizzy are you for real? When you die what will you do with all the money you have made. I do like your capitalist business acumen and your vision for Barbados but at what cost when you know GOB negotiators are poorakey. Stop take advantage of docility of Bajans because of our poorakey leaders who cannot even negotiate.

When will bajans decide to stand up and stop worry about consequences for it better to fight than to suffer in silence and misery.

“I would not be surprised if they build a WTE plant.”

    Who is ‘they”?

    Cahiil got no money

    Clare Cowan got no money

Cahill’s investment banker got shut down by Onterio Securities Commission.

    GOB got no money

Who is going to build the WTE plant?

Bizzy is already on record as saying that he contributed to both political parties. According to the law, he is required to make a declaration to the Supervisor of Elections detailing the amounts that he contributed. Failing to do so is an offence. It is also an offence for the recipient not to declare it as well. It just goes to show that elections in Barbados is a criminal enterprise.

    Kammie;

In some other country the population, inspired by Hant’s incompletely thought-out words, would take thousands of bags of dry garbage in hundreds of cars in a well coordinated programme to have the tipping fee removed, right to the gates of SBRC.

But not in Barbados, unless some new party grows some cojones.

Re. the main question in your 7:57 pm post; “Who is going to build the WtE plant?”

Reading between the lines of Bizzy’s statement yesterday, It is not a great stretch to imagine him coming to the rescue of the hapless ministers four and providing a scaled down solution with several elements reminiscent of the playbooks of SBRC and Ionics. One thing that is very unlikely is that the solution will involve Plasma Gasification.

Bizzy Williams cannot be pressured in coming clean with the facts just like no one has successfully convince this Piss Poor Prime Minister (3-PM) to speak directly to the island on important issues. The DLP has been bought and paid for. Only a serious move by Barbadians can pressure these criminals into disclosing facts, but these beaten down mouthy pretty talkers that are my people are just bunch of frighten ass easy to buy off shites.

Ticon…obviously you do not keep up with island news, they already got their hands on the Port, even Harris, in the form of Jean Marie.

Why do you think Maloney was able to dump all of David Seale’s decades old rotten molasses all over the island, without any reprecussions, or any of the politicians opening their stinking mouths.

People continue to talk about this to this day, when Owen Arthur was in power, a member of the minority population wanted access to the port and one of the police on duty said no, could not prove they had any business at the port….a call was immediately put in to either Owen or one of the other lowlife politicians of the day and the minority was granted immediate access.

That is how disloyal the black politicians have been to island and the people…for over 40 years.
