I look up to you as a intellect with lots of ideas pertaining to governance. You bring logic to your debate and I know that you know, that no country in this world in which we lived and continue living now and in the future cannot exist without taxes. Yes, Barbados definitely needs another party, but can we in God’s earth abide with a no-tax regime. Based on PDC no-tax scenario, we wouldn’t need a government since we will not have to employ anyone to deal with health, transport, the environment, tourism,security, culture, sports or any ministries because no money will be coming in, and social amenities would come to an end. We will than have to rely on the private sector to fulfil the lull. So Pachamama, alternatives must be workable that can maintain a country. David do have a point.

PDC the SSS would like to know what integrity you hold or stand-by that would not lead you down the road of temptation for which many a politician have been led and for which many are now labeled as the biggest thieves in history. Will you be immune to the deals offered and seek to expose the active ill wills of those who desire their own way as oppose to what is right for the people? Will you bring full disclosure to the things of government and create democracy in the form of “the people’s say” so we doing their way? More fundamentality we need a money system which is free of interest, real money that is non-inflationary, alternative methods of exchange and so on. Pachamama. I agree with you that taxation is running amok in Barbados. But I have a fundamental problem of no-taxation. It just cannot work. Do we have any other resources other than people? Our sugar industry gone through the eddoes, Tourism spending more than we receiving, Manufacturing cost of production double other countries making us unattractive. Lets face facts, we are a service country importing almost everything and supplying the same tourists with products purchased from their country. Get the picture.

We are absolute sure that if you would have been reading our posts under various threads, on BU, on TAXATION very carefully, you would NEVER have been found by us to be writing such.
Anyhow, just a few things.
1) Government does not exist to evilly criminally TAX – to otherwise STEAL ROB the relevant remunerations of the relevant people, businesses and other entites – it exists primarily to do or provide the things that individuals, businesses, and other entities could not provide properly enough individually themselves and for others.
Hence, where the PDC is concerned, there is always a need – in this era of human life – for government to provide the necessary and sufficient levels of health care facilities, educational learning for life facilities (not brainwashing ones), security, judicial, physical, and foreign affairs facilities, infrastructures, media, to the people.
Therefore one of the best ways of its ensuring such is entering into various proper and fair agreements with individuals, businesses and others – within and without government – to help provide such relevant services, facilities, infrastructures, etc, for the government who – at the same time – or later – under these same agreements – in making proper and fair use of money (a financial commodity to do so) – passes various amounts of this money – at different times – to those who are helping provide such services facilities infrastructures to/for it.
As such, it is totally wrong, evil, repugnant, criminal, anti-productive for the government to be violating the apposite agreements between and among various others in the commercial industrial market by its TAXING the relevant portions of the remunerations of the various others – to provide the core financial system with money/credits, so that it – in the final analysis – the said core financial system – on the behalf of the government – is able to give monies – without the government making proper fair use of the said monies in the money system – to the relevant others who are under contracts with the government, and NOT the various others that are being criminally wickedly taxed by the government and its tax enforcers.
So, what armageddonic circumstances that are soon to eventuate in Barbados, with such wicked and infernal convolutedness!!
Again it clear that roots of such descriptions and the descriptions themselves are present in this near national opposition to this mythical Municipal Tax.
Still, Tell Me Why, it is clear that there are totally viable alternatives to TAXATION.

That is not the real point. The mere suggestion that the PDC has no resonance as judged by the mainstream will leave us with the BLP/DLP in perpetuity. So that cannot be a point of departure. From what I have seen with my own land tax/assessments over the years, is that what started out as “site value” when I bought the property,was later increased by The Ministry to be the new “improved value” , This “improved value” then became the “site value” a few years later, and a higher “improved value ” was assigned …This process was repeated over an 11 year period, so that the house and land I bought in 2003 which had a site value of $253300 and an improved value of$610000 now has a site Value of $675000, with an improved value of $1000000.There is something clearly wrong in the notion that the Site value of my property has increased 166% in the past 11 years.Absurd.
It also means that my Municipal Tax bill is $2026.20…This is even more ridiculous when it is compared to my Last Land Tax Bill , of $2560.00 based on the exact same site value and improved value figures.
This notion therefore, that the Tax is only $120 or $200 which has been much quoted, is a lie and not the experience of thousands of property owners like myself,who have now received their bills.
It is also a lie that it is not a Land Tax..Mr Sinckler is quoted in Barbados Today 4/7/2014 as follows: “but we have to do this. Its either you’re going to tax it on the land, or put it on food. Either way it has to be done”
Perhaps he was misquoted, because all along we have been told that it is not a land tax.
This ill conceived and badly constructed Tax must be repealed,and or adjusted .. I for one will not be rushing to pay it. They will have to wait…just like Mr Barrack.

Bajans who own land with derelict building(s) on them need to know that they should have the buildings/improvements demolished before the next tax cycle so they can legally avoid the MSW Tax.

My contribution, which I believe would have been in the Senate, was intended to explain that vacant lots of land, that is land on which there are no houses for example, would not be taxed. My reference to improved value was to distinguish between land with buildings and vacant lots. i believe that David did correct you, but so that you are clear:
I would also have explained in my contribution what would be taxed and the basis on which the tax would be calculated on those lands to be taxed. In effect in my comment I would have made two separate clarifications:
1: WHAT would have been taxed – properties with Improved values.
2. HOW such a property would be taxed – on the site value.
I trust that I have clarified for all readers, especially Island Gal the points I made.
