One positive coming out of the Top Gear Festival to be hosted in Barbados next weekend is the participation of 2008 Formula 1 champion Lewis Hamilton. Hamilton is following the script nicely after winning a fourth straight race in Spain today to move to the top of the drivers points tally one week before the Top Gear festival.  The Barbados Tourism Authority despite the huge embarrassment committed (Call for Jeremy Clarkson to be FIRED) by host Jeremy Clarkson who uttered a racist remark, Barbados maybe able to leverage the event to boost its standing in the minds of potential travellers given the enormous negative and positive publicity generated to date.

There is little doubt in the BU household the majority of spectators visiting Bushy Park next weekend do so for one reason, the coming of LEWIS HAMILTON. It is ironic that Lewis comes from a mixed background, a Black Grenadian father and White mother and is the only Black driver on the Formula 1 circuit. Let us hope the irony of it all is not lost on Clarkson and others of his ilk.

    Black father plus white mother = black man (“black driver”). Please explain. Is it because in your scheme of things

    (a) a person takes the colour of his father; or
    (b) a black person is anyone with some blackness; or
    (c) because you will say anything to demonstrate Clarkson is a prick.

    Will you please explain who or what is the “BU household”?

    Will you please give the factors which led you to conclude that most spectators will come to see the show only because of Lewis?

    In the white world of the slave codes of American , one drop of so called black blood make you black. Many whites in Barbados have black blood and hide and live the white life for the look white.White is also a status and how ones Behave,and so is Black,
    The are white Moors and Black Moors based on status not skin , even so their skin is adj . black

    BU house hold maybe the people that do Blog on this site.

    As in Golf , If Tiger Woods not playing we not watching.
    If Moors dont see our own in the game why watch , Most will support who support them.
    Lewis @ Has pull the ratings up for we want to see some one like us make good , It give inspiration for others like us to try . We were in racing before and won before , but was blocked in different ways in the past.

    Lewis can come , and Clarkson can come also , but stay off the mic and TV in Barbados …

    Ross…..stop trying to be difficult, i bet if the ladies in your life had grabbed you early this morning you would not now be on here trying to terrorize David.

    A bi-racial child raised as black is a well rounded child, no psychological confusion to wrestle with throughout life, no pretentiousness, no poor me i am white in a mixed race skiin….trust me, i speak from experience.

    I met someone who knew Hamilton’s father personally in London and from what they told me his father raised him and his brother singlehandedly and under some really trying circumstances…Happy Mother’s Day to Mr. Hamilton..

    Actually she grabbed me this afternoon. It must have inspired me.

    In my experience if you’re mixed In a white society they think of you as black. If you’re thus mixed (in a white society) blacks think of you as white.

    I’m not being difficult you know. For BU to say ‘he is black’ is just more of the same…why shouldn’t the fella be successful no matter whether he’s black or white? And I’ve no doubt if you asked him he’d say:

    ‘Don’t put your ideas, your perceptions, in my head. I’m old enough to work it out for myself. I love my father and my mother and they love me. The bottom line is this – I am ME and a bloody good driver too.”

    All the rest is race-game playing.

    Oh but on the car drivers thing…I don’t know where they race but there are many black ‘race/rally’ drivers who congregate around here with their cars. I wonder if it’s a bogey that motor sport is just for whites in Barbados. I certainly know that the doctors in attendance are black.

    Following your lead I googled him. It says his parents separated when he was two. Thereafter he lived with his Mum until he was 12 and thereafter his Dad. Is he black or white, a mummy’s boy or a daddy’s boy? Both equally stupid questions. Anyways, we all wish him very well, and I join you in your kind remark to him.

    Ross……the society does not count and only serves to destroy the psyche of a bi-racial or multi-racial kid, the society sucks, the parent has to use his/her initiative and use the least destructive method to raise that child with the least amount of psychological damage, there are whites walking around so messed up mentally they are barely functioning full-fledged psychos, you want your kid to emulate that just to be pretentious and say they are ‘white’ because one parent carry the genes?

    I believe it’s that the local whites benefit more from the sport on the island than that there are more than them driving than blacks, however you cut it, without the 95% black fans, there would not even be car racing on the island.

    So Ross….i presume you are a polo fan and/or play polo in Barbados, even if not competitively?

    LOL. Me? Polo? You must be mad. BUT I can ride and have many times on different nags of all colours and you know – colour is irrelevant to…err…you should see me on a camel.

    I’m sure it’s been a predominantly white sport because of the cash needed to keep the cars going and because of lack of sponsorship – but I’m only guessing on the latter.

    When i was living in Barbados as a boy,My Father would come home mad, ,and for he looked the way he looked , White People would talk nigger this nigger than and other kind words in front of him with ease ,
    My mother look more like me and he did not agree with all of that kind of talk and i learned what was what early on , Then to live it first hand in America, On every level , where we lived, in the schools, in the corps , in the work place,So being in Barbados, to see that things are the same even with more on of group than another makes me sick,On my side of my family me and my brother and that is of 14 ,we two look more so called black than white , The other can blend and live on the other side easy,

    Trust me when i say i know this on all ends , The Best place for me to live is Guyana or Suriname in the CC, The blend of people makes it more relaxing,

    All of this black and white talk is just obscuring what should be a central issue, and that is: should Clarkson be allowed to work in Barbados as a host of any programme?

    I remember in the 1970s Barbados was a leader in the fight against racism in Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe) and South Africa. For the sake of the almighty dollar, Is this Government going to keep quiet? It is a good thing that Barrow was not buried or he would now be rolling in his grave.

    Look at our Minister with responsibility for Industry, it is as if they are trying to rub our noses in it. You should recall how the Minister made his fortune before entering politics, what pride!

    Sterling only have 10 to 15 years to live , he is now 80 years old.
    It dont make good business to deal with him, All the money he now have means nothing, It will not extend his Life, He got his power and will to Live by feeding off others like a Vampire. The lawyers in America are not from Barbados,Lawyers from Barbados will take Sterling’s case , and look to milk him like CLICO before he dies.

    Well Well don’t be silly, most of the black clients they have are pro bono, if they can find lawyers to represent mass murders, serial rapists pedophiles etc the will be lining up to represent sterling.
    One interesting fact from his interview made me start to think his memory may not be as bad as I thought, when he said to Anderson Cooper that he may be more racist than him I wonder if he was alluding to Andersons ancestors the vanderbuilts it is said were slave owners who owned one of michelle obamas ancestors

    True i dont , i only talk about what i know , what i see,what i deal with first hand . I look to stay out what i dont know about,
    As i call names and make charges to be fair i study my business,
    I , We are willing to learn from those who know better in this field of Crook,liars and scumbags
    But We do know how people like broke Minister Todd and others made money after getting in to office, What they did before Violet and Beatrice i dont know,
    I was not in the island for a very long time.
    But some talk of Drugs dealing like the former C.O.P , bringing in girls from Guyana , money laundering and so on ,

    Don’t mind Sterling, he is clutching at straws, yes, Anderson Coopers ancestors owned slaves and the best pieces of real estate in Manhattan, but he can never compare himself to Anderson Cooper, Sterling is a fraud…lol

    I stopped watching Top Gear and will not watch it again except for the Barbados Festival.

    However if I was living in Barbados I would not deprive myself of watching Lewis drive the F1 benz because os an ignorant racist m’fer like Clarkson.

    Hopefully I will be in Montreal June 8th.
