This is a picture of the canal leading to the gate. The title of the article that led to this page says to fix the gate which from the little bit of it I see in the pic seems to be in fine condition. The canal seems to be in need of cleaning. How difficult is it to do that?

To answer your question the Sluice Gate needs to operate to control the over flow in the Canal. Currently a backhoe is used to clean the canal. Read the links on the original blog HERE.
