Must reasonable people can understand when organisations have a problem, but it’s how you deal with it that’s important and how you communicate with people that are keeping you in business. It’s 3.45pm and still no paid-for Sunday Sun has been delivered.

Calls to the 1) Circulation Manager, 2) After hours Distribution, (3) News Hotline, 4) Customer Experience and 5) Eric Holder (Circulation Manager) home number all meet with FULL voicemail boxes. Eventually yesterday late into the afternoon our Saturday Sun was delivered.

Yes! there are presumably paid ‘ad’s on at least one radio station telling us that today’s edition will be late, but 4pm plus to get a daily paper? And what value is there to those companies paying to advertise in the publication?

Will Nation Publishing refund those that have locked into paid subscription.?

  1. If it is that you need to subscribe to the Nation to check up on whether or not your ads are being published properly then fine… otherwise I see absolutely no need to continue with your subscription. The Nation is an entertainment rag… surely not worthy of your time Mr. Loveridge

  2. I does check the Nation on line to read Lowdown on Fridays. I also check it mainly to see who dead!

I notice that the Nation has been struggling to get people to actively blog on the online edition with very poor sucess.

  6. As the political economic depression in Barbados gets worse and worse, thousands upon thousands of people in this once fair land are becoming poorer and poorer by the day and are being forced to suck salt.

Now, many people would recall that in the second half of 2008 this visionless and intellectually bankrupt DLP Government did set up some kinda working committee that was headed by Mr. Winston Cox to look into some of the country’s economic problems and to therefter make recommendations to the government. But, the question must be asked: of what real purpose would its work have substantially served these said hordes of people who are becoming poorer and poorer by the day and who are being forced to suck salt? Indeed, were some of the reported recommendations like a BDS $ 80 million stimulus package, using lay offs as a last resort etc., really in themselves of such importance that one could have seen the necessity of the government having to establish such a committee?

Well, we in the PDC say that such a committee and its recommendations were a total waste of time, energy and money, and really have shown, once again, that Mr. David Thompson is clearly NOT in the class of late Errol Barrow, who did NOT have to set up any such mechanisms to study and then make recommendations on major economic problems that had beset the country in his time. Furthermore, and as a matter of fact, besides that political buffoon, Mr. Owen Arthur, Mr. David Thompson is the worst prime minister this country has had so far.

Also, many people would recall too that in the first half of 2009, this same visionless and intellectually bankrupt DLP Government did establish a so-called National Economic Advisory Council, headed by one Frank Alleyne, to advise the government on matters of national economic importance at this time of political economic depression. But, the question must be asked: what matters and issues of national economic importance is it really still deliberating on at a time when the economy is collapsing at a fast rate, when thousands are losing their jobs, hundreds of small and medium sized businesses are folding, and when poverty and misery are reaching alarming proportions? What like hell!!

We are firmly of the view that just like that committee that was headed by Mr. Winston Cox, this Council will be a total waste of time, energy and money primarily because so many thousands of people, businesses and other entities in this country already know that this DLP Government has been carrying on from where those former Arthur Administrations left off grossly and recklessly mismanaging the so-called economy of this country, and that no amount of stale rotten economic and financial ideas and methods and explanations from this Council will make them believe that this government is NOT incompetent in its dealings with the economy.

Finally, what is also clear is that Prime Minister Thompson – by appointing such a council – will NOT EVER succeed at deflecting or stifling serious independent non-partisan criticisms of government’s economic and financial policies esp. at such a time as this when the Barbadian economy is faltering badly and the masses and middle classes being made to suffer terribly.

  7. Petty and pendantic piece. There are many things desperately wrong with the Nation that have been discussed here on BU in some detail. The megalomania that supposes that we ought to jump to attention and sanction and go against the Nation on the basis that, after warning that this would be the case, Mr. Loveridge’s Sunday paper did not arrive on time is really too much.

Soon, Mr. Loveridge, as is his wont, will be saying that this constitutes a threat to his person and family and filing the story in the Canadian courts and on certain not-to-be-named blogs so as to drag the name of Barbados through the mud.

This blog, so far as I can discern, holds intellegent discussions on matters of national interest and importance and only a complete idiot could possibly imagine that the late arrival of Mr. Loveridge’s paper constitutes that.

  8. Presumably other folk did not get their paper.

If Mr Loveridge didnt get the newspaper for which he has paid a subsription he has every right to state that here there or everywhere…..even though he is white!
