AFC Leader Attorney at law Raphael Trotman

The AFC views the chilling disclosures of alleged high level complicity by at least a serving member of the Guyana Government in the extermination of citizens of Guyana made yesterday in the US Federal Court , with outrage.

The testimony under oath of a confessed conspirator involved in the murder of at least two Guyanese citizens which disclosed the involvement of High Government functionaries in the murder of Ronald Waddell and Donald Allison have left the nation stunned.

At the very minimum the Minister identified must immediately step aside to facilitate a full blown independent international commission of inquiry into the alleged involvement of the Minister and or other Government functionaries in the deaths of Ronald Waddle and Donald Allison.

The disclosures made by the self confessed murderer have revealed that there is more than adequate primary facie evidence available upon which criminal charges can be instituted against persons in Guyana.

The AFC calls upon the Commissioner of Police to discharge his constitutional duty as Chief Law Enforcement Officer in relation to the investigations into the murder of Ronald Waddle and Donald Allyson.

AFC does not see it as appropriate in the light of the testimony of the self confessed conspirator to participate in any debate at the present time in parliament for the purpose of discussing the Government’s Low Carbon Development Strategy or any other business.

The AFC is of the view that the there is a clear and present crisis of governance in Guyana which requires urgent attention by all stakeholders.

How many more Guyanese must die before this madness ends.

Indeed it looks like Jagdeo trying to throw Greene under the bus, the operative element here is deny, deny, deny and when you can’t deny anymore point fingers or accuse someone else of criminal activities.

The evidence coming out at the trial shows that members of the Guyanese Gov’t assisted and were complicit with the activities of a convicted drug lord and accused murderer. They facilitated his acquisition of a listening device which is only sold to Gov’ts or law enforcement agencies.

I think that it is telling that the building housing the Ministry of Health was destroyed by fire ( to destroy evidence of the Minister’s purchase?) but members of groups opposed to the Gov’t were arrested.

Jagdeo could control things in Guyana but the US courts are beyond his control.

Jagdeo has been in full denial of every piece of evidence or testimony in the US court that ties his Gov’t to criminal activitiy, yet this is the same Jagdeo that jumped up and down shouting that the Barbados Gov’t mistreated deported Guyanese citizens based on the comments of these deportees. Those who live in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones.

  3. Anonymous@1:03 pm,

What charges are you talking about?

Guyanna set for first gambling venue to help boost tourism
Posted by max in Live in Barbados, Tourism in Barbados on July 29th, 2009
According to the Associated Press, Guyanna’s first casino is to be opened later this year by the Turkish developer, Princess Group Hotels and Casinos.

The group has pledged to invest USD$2million into the project that will see local accomodation upgraded to a five star hotel and the construction of the gambling venue.

Their spokesperson, Oguz Tayanc said the development, near the capital Georgetown, should create about 150 jobs.

The project falls in line with the governments recent attempts to attract more visititors by declaring that any developer who built a hotel with 150+ rooms would automatically qualify for the required gaming license!

Guyanna is a member of the 15 countries that form CARICOM. As recent as last week, CARICOM held a four-day summit to discuss methods of boosting their struggling economies!

Although the neighbouring island of Canoan is home to a Trump Casino, Barbados only permits slot machines and other monitored betting such as at the horse races.

    Question?

What are your thoughts on Barbados’s gambling activity? Should the government be considering gaming as an alternative type of tourism? How would Barbados property sales, rentals, and values be affected?

  5. David,

This is 2009, which Guyanese interested in back breaking agriculture work in the hot 80 degrees sun. Those days are gone. Didn’t President Jagdeo invite you all to come and farm the land. Well accept the invitation and come, for Guyana is indeed a very beautiful country. Have you ever landed at Timehri Airport, you see the verdant green between the runways. I am all for gambling. A nice job in a nice airconditioned hotel where Guyanese can mingle with foreigners. I like the idea, and this might be the only idea I like so far from the PPP Government.

Turn the place into Las Vegas, or Atlantic City thus creating nice jobs where Guyanese can dress up and show case our world re-know hospitality. This is how I feel, and mark you I am not a mad person.
