Now you have some people confused with column Mon 3rd Nov 08, after your insulting remarks earlier about Barbados allegedly “a piece of real estate one can walk round in an hour, and implying no Bajans have a mansion in T&T like Brian Lara has in Bim.”

Your filthy, insulting, vulgar rantings on a Sovereign Nation is viewed as puerile and egotistic. We don’t remember asking you to comment on our country; why not stick to your neck of the woods and give us breathing space.

On can occupy only so much space, time, material things in our life time. You seem muddled in your writings. How did the Editors allow such vulgarity and insulting behaviour?

Barbados feeds the hands that bite her; or they bite the hands that feed them.

At Jesus’ trial the High priest said to the Council, “Ye know nothing at all” – which seems to apply to you. The Black man was closer to God than all other races after the Flood. Blacks lived mainly in Abyssinia (Ethiopia/Egypt) – there were no Arabs, just Blacks or Negroes. They pioneered art, science, mathematics, astonomy, weaving, music, agriculture, music etc.

But they stuck to their idols, just like Jews who disobeyed Yaweh, and later descendants did not accept Messiah – both races were put aside. Caucasian man came along, learnt from the mistakes of Blacks and Jews, came down the middle road – and played the Blacks off against the Jews or vice versa.

But beliefs are shifting today. Blacks and Jews are coming together as One New Man under International fellowship of Christians and Jews (IFCJ).

Please spare us nosensical rantings

  1. This is a ridiculous disconnected submission that only lends credence to the piffle contained in the BC Pires’ column. Ignore him.

  2. This is exactly what I’ve been talking about. These moroons come to our country and before they try to merge with the locals, they come with their own stuck-up,arrogant behaviour aqnd want to make their presence felt.Easy task to solve, stop buying the Nation until they ship him back to T&T. We welcome friendly people who come to offer something not these idiots.

Um, this article made no sense. I’m honestly shocked at the number of twists and turns and all around nonsense that the ‘writer’ managed to weave into it. Wow.

    No seriously – wow!!

  7. Rev. Butler wrote “Please spare us nosensical rantings”

    I second that.

  8. Can anybody enlighten the BU household what kind of writing is B C Pires attempting to perpetrate on the Barbadians readership? Is it satirical in the mode of Hoad? We can’t figure.

  9. It’s a juvenile attempt at mocking our reaction to his unwelcome and patronising column.

Unfortunately he has not enough writing skills to justify, or even reveal, his attack.

  10. I read it quickly, I do not understand it at all. Paul Feyerabend said he did not read all of his students’ submissions, he just trashed most of them.

This one certainly needs to be ignored and trashed!

  11. David please put up Mr. Pires’ column let’s see it. I’m a little confused.

  12. Read article 1 which caused Lowdown to pelt some licks in B C Pires and caused some stir around sensitive Bajans – Source Nation Newspaper

I agree with Straight Talk. Pires is trying hard to be provocative by insulting Barbados but isn’t a good enough writer to pull it off. Lowdown made a fool of him in his last column. Pires seems to be a replacement for the uwi prof who had a column over the summer whose name I can’t recall (Leyson? Something like that). He was pretty good, and quite witty. Even Lowdown admired his articles as I recall. Pires has been rubbish so far. Maybe he’ll improve over time.

  14. BC Pires is very cavalier, pathethic and rudelow intelligence too. Cavalier in the sense that he thinks it is alright to disobey the flight rule of do not not turn on cell phones during flight, for he says Barbadians obey the rule, but Trinidadian turn on their cell phones over Tobago in preparation for using them upon arrival in Bridgetown. He is pathetic in that he states Barbados can be seen in one day, but Mr. Pieres. I saying Trinidad can be seen in two days, and he is rude for critcising the national anthem of Barbados, actually he is also of low intellengence for the number of stanzas in an anthem has nothing to do with the size of the country. I am sure 1 square mile Monaco could have a big national anthem. He is not funny. Well you all said he is white, don’t look so to me, but there again my concept of white and that of others could be different. I had to enlarge his picture and he looks like East Indian, Chinese, Venezuealan and African, he say he cut from Eric Williams cloth, so he be must black though. One thting I will say about him is that he knows his rum, for he said in one column he loves his Guyanese rum, that is nice. Anyway BC Pieres, it would take a whole YEAR to walk around GUYANA my country, so there. Ace STOP, the PM is Barbadian please don’t go in that direction here OK.

  15. Well, I’ve read Pires’ article and it’s as significant as a piece of *hit, and that’s exactly where I’m flushing it – down the loo!!

  16. @ David

I aint see nutten wrong wid de article.
    I find it quite complimentary.

    1. He’s chosen Bdos as his home and has relocated his family here.

    2. The size of the island happens to be a fact. Truth hurts but what I gather is that he thinks we should lighten up a bit. Maybe we’re bit too uptight?
    “Life is short!”

    3. He cites our respect for law and order. Maybe that’s why he’s here. Trinidad has reached 450 murders so far for the year. Who wouldnt want a safer environment for their children?

    4. “Life itself, then, is a cosmic joke and a bitter one at that – but, by God, Barbados takes itself firetrucking seriously.” (This is actually funny!)
Depends on one’s sense of humor I guess!

    5. He admits to being embarrassed that he’d never heard the national anthem before.

    6. He compliments us on a nation that has achieved a lot in cricket.

    7. “I’m betting my own tiny life and my children’s accents that Barbados is the arrowhead of an island civilisation that could, like the ancient Greeks, point out to the modern world a new way of living together.”
Here he admits to his own mortality and insignificance with some degree of humility. He then goes on to draw interesting parallels with the Greeks, maybe likening Bdos to Athens as a potential cradle of modern “island civilization” because we do take ourselves seriously and have such an enviable tradition of high education standards.

Truth is that we knock Bim so hard because we love it so much and we want to see it better!

    I suggest a re-reading of the guy’s article.

  17. So much invective!

BC’s writing is meant to be ironic. He is claiming the space as a West Indian to poke fun yet make serious observations about nation building.

One of the points which he makes, though not with great articulation admittedly, is that the self-regard which can seem narrow is the same trait which allows Barbadians to treat positively and seriously with their obligations to community.

You all can respond without yourselves being anti-intellectual.

Re: B C Pires’ rantings and ravings. What are Bajans doing about such revulsion and insults on their Sovereign State and people? Or is it none of their business? If not, what is? Can a non-T & T citizen go to that country and show such lack of respect or regard for “the stranger within their gates?” Barbados has long “fed the hands that bit her” or bitten by the hands that fed her – which ever way. We dont remember asking him what he thinks about Barbados or its people. As for Brian Laura’s mansion in Barbados, one can only live and utalise space, time, goods for so long in this life. A man is not know to God by what he (man) possesses – but who is in Christ, and whom he serves. Why does B.C not go back to his “large real estate” where ever that is.

  19. I have a few questions. Why is he living here?Where is he working? How can I have him deported?Too many qualified Barbadians are out of work to put up with this crap by non nationals.

  20. heaven I agreed with you. You know what he is jealous of us. He never had it so good. He just a wannabe.

  21. I don’t think he is funny, but rather insulting and obnoxious. He is fleeing the violence of Trinidad for the peace and tranquility of Barbados, but yet in in his writings he puts down his new homeland. Does not make sense to me.

  22. The country being small is relative, for there are small nations on earth, in fact the one the former PM Arthur just observed elections in, Maldives is 2/3’s the size of Barbados, with hundreds of islands, with no island bigger than 2 square miles. It is an East Indian island chain off of India. Now I am hoping Owen nah do no deals to bring those nationals to BGI, because that place has twice the population of Barbados in 66% of Barbados’s area. My point here though is that he, Mr. Pires is making comparisons between Barbados and Trinidad and that is rude, especially when you are guest in other people’s country. Well I know it would take me days ot see Barbados, because I am slow walker, then I would have to stop at the Cheffette to get a little something to eat as I walk, then of course I might see a person I know, then I would have to sit by the roadside chat and catch myself, so I don’t know what he talking about. He too busy with himself. I tell you all this though, he is quite happy there in BGI, it is quite evident in his writing. He is happy to be in Barbados

  23. a good example of trincolonialist arrogance towards barbados. this is the damage CSME has done and Owen Arthur encouraged it.

  24. Re: President -elect Obama
The 3 or 4 days that shook the world
    1. President-elect B Obama’s victory
    2. The day Dr Rev Martin Luther King died
    3. The day Sir Frank Worrell died
    4. The day President Kennedy was assinated

  25. Wuh part you is? Avatar

For $20 million Trini dollars name a Bajan who would tomorrow volunteer to go and live in Trinidad?

I am not talking about the ward at Jenkins where Pires may end up that I nickname Petit Trinidad in advance of he admittance.

Peres boy Chefette rotis better than them watery channa things yall claim yall invent. That should give him grist for another stupid column.

  26. The Voice of the People.

    1. Is the voice of the people the voice of God? Insofar as to what happened in USA on 04 Nov 08.

    2. That piece of philosophy may have originated when Israel asked God through prophet Samuel for “a king like the other nations” – (monarchial government). Politics (democracry) came about later with the Greeks.

    3. Israel chose Tisbite Saul – a total failure – who led the people into idoatry. God changed the name of the next Saul, to Paul apostle to the Gentiles.

    4. That is where we are at now in USA and the rest of the world. “The old order changeth yeilding place to new …” (Lord Alfred Tennyson).

    5. The world will never be the same again. The USA elections were not some freak of nature – it is the real thing which we have waited for since the Flood.

    6. Black people (Negroes) – there were not Arabs – were closer to God back then than any other races. Blacks pioneered the arts, science, mucic, mathematics, navigation, astronomy etc. So what went wrong?

    7. Caucasion man came along and played the Blacks off against the Jews – the one had held onto his idols; the other would not accept Messiah. So God cast both races off for a time – this is the Rebirth of both.

  27. I have a funny feeling that this is a publicity stunt. Watch this, that article really does praise BIM, but when you create a “stir” in journalism that is rhe point. and we are doing it for him. Yes sir Jesus We doing it for him. Watch how he will be famous. Remember Howard Stern. He is sooo famous now. Its just how journalism works. I think he is right about bajans taking themselves too seriously. and really hear him, he is really meaning to say “HAVE FUN TOO”. I feel he loves it here, so does his wife(she pretty) and children. I will invite him and his family home to me for some nice fish. and show him how we have fun too. lighte

  28. Don’t let BC fool you. Read him carefully. The reason his writings provoke so much outrage is because they are often filled with Truth. It’s a hard thing to read and first response is usually to reject rather than ponder.
