There is no one in Sixmens who saw an environmental impact study [EIA] this project seem to be going ahead without the knowledge of nearby residents and this is why we need to act now and i am accusing town and country planing dept of not insisting on the rules if they have already giving permission to build this marina.
Sixmens – BU family member

Barbados Underground has written ad nauseam about the social fallout which is likely to occur if the unchecked immigration policy practiced by the former government is not curbed. Although we are encouraged by the public positions offered by Prime Minister David Thompson and members of his government, we are not convinced that this matter is being treated with the urgency that it deserves. We listened with interest to Minister Chris Sinckler on Friday who was reported in the media to have confirmed that a sub-committee of cabinet has been directed to address the issue of a managed immigration policy, he suggested that this policy will take a few months to roll out. We wish to suggest to the government of Barbados that the country does not need any new policy to invite illegal immigrants to leave Barbados.

Our police and immigration officials need to enforce the EXISTING laws!

It was with alarm that we listened to a report carried in the Advocate newspaper last week attributed to the Chief Town Planner Mark Cummins. He was reported to have expressed deep concern at the high level of squatting which is currently taking place in Zone 1 areas around Barbados. He further declared that his information suggests that a significant number of the squatters are non-Barbadian. The BU family should take note that because of the threat which these squatters pose to the water supply of Barbados priority will be given to relocate them by the National Housing Corporation (NHC). The fallout of this situation means that hardworking and law abiding Barbadians who have applied via legitimate channels to NHC to acquire houses will have to wait for a longer period to be assigned a house. Here is where the social fallout will likely start to manifest itself.

We have waited a few days until our blood stopped racing a little to blog about this matter. First of all we want to know what was Chief Town Planner doing over the years as this problem was allowed to develop. Are we to assume that his office was manipulated by the former government to say and do nothing? The fact that he may have been aware of this development and did nothing: how does his inaction conflict with his obligation under the Town Planning Act to ensure that our land resources are managed according to the laws of Barbados?

We take this opportunity to ask political scientist Peter Wickham to shut-up on issues which he obviously knows nothing about. While it is his right to have an opinion on what goes on around him he needs to be mindful that as a moderator on a national talk show his positions should be logically grounded and not rooted in some neoliberal ideology. We could easily add Senator Kerri Symmonds and Clyde Mascoll to the list. It looks like Professor Michael Howard may have the last laugh after all.

While we appreciate the politics of the situation Prime Minister David Thompson finds himself he should be guided that home drums beat first. It is obvious when we examine our coastal development, the large numbers of squatters and the obvious lack of planning to our physical development over the decade, the Chief Town Planner has obviously been asleep at the wheel. If it is that his authority was undermined during that period we would have thought that he had options under the law.

    ***

Go f**k yourself, you retarded idiot.

Why don’t you start by calling for all the Barbadians living abroad to be deported back to Barbados?

  2. We don’t need no new policy as far as illegal immigratants are concern. Whether it is from Guyana, China or any other country, I suggest or rather demand their deportation.Barbados is just 166 sq mls and we are already taking in a large amount of legal migrants, we cannot afford the illegals too.The imbalance can easily result in civil unrest

If it is GT you love so badly, go there and stay there. You sound like one of those bajans that go there and get fooled my the GT girls crying behind you at the airport when you’re leaving. I got news for you they cry behind other men when you’re not there too. They are referred to as professional lovers.Look in the mirror and ask yourself; am I as foolish as I’m behaving?

  4. We in PDC have often expressed our disgust and outrage on this blog and elsewhere at the excessive number of Indian and Chinese immigrants that have come into our blessed country within the last ten (10) years.

Whereas, we are adamant that Barbados must ever remain a stable, predominantly black country – and this is why we have no inherent problems with decent, law-abiding, productive Blacks from anywhere coming to our shores and staying for as long as possible – once the numbers and their expectations do NOT become unmanageable for us in Barbados – and whereas we are NOT against Indians, Chinese and other races coming and visiting temporarily our country – we are nevertheless still equally conscious of the tremendous racial and social disharmony and conflict and the harmful effects therefrom that can envelop and destabilize our country, by way of these excessive numbers of Indian and Chinese coming and living here, seeking to exploit and degrade our own people in our own country, and creating in this country their own enclaves and thinking about plans to out-number our blacks eventually and taking over this beloved place. But many, many Barbadians having none of it, and thus deciding to put up a fight. And we must say here now that we know about many instances whereby many of these types of non-nationals are very racist towards blacks elsewhere!!

Very importantly, then, the PDC must state that were we the Government today that all those Indians and Chinese that would have come here within the last ten years or so, and who would have been intent on staying here or would have been seen to have overstayed their time, we would have seen to it that they were eventually circumspectly sent back to where they would have come from – irrespective of what interests they would have here – such being done in the national strategic developmental interest of Barbados.

It is often said that a word to the wise
    is sometimes good enough!!

  6. With regard to the subject of the exploitation and degradation of our masses and middle classes of people in Barbados, we find it ABSOLUTELY ABHORRENT and DISGRACEFUL that Cable and Wireless – a large exploitative multinational company that has for years been in Barbados living off the backs of the masses and middle classes of people, exploiting, humiliating and degradating them, could – according to the Saturday Sun, October 18, 2008 – have made a most unworthy decision to send home 115 workers from the company’s contact centre, by early next month.

Worse, too, it figures for gross and reckless and inhuman abuse of the situation surrounding these pending terminations when the Cable and Wireless Vice-Chairman for the Caribbean, Mr. Donald Austin, could, on one hand, be telling the Saturday Sun that:” In terms of redundancies or if there are any seperations, that we effectively provide them with the standard seperation package that we have offered over the period. WE ALSO OFFER MUCH IN TERMS OF PLACEMENT SERVICES TO ENSURE THAT OUR EMPLOYEEES ARE WELL COVERED. WHETHER THEY WANT ASSISTANCE IN TERMS OF FINANCIAL ADVICE OR WHETHER THEY WANT GENERAL COUNSELLING AND OTHER SERVICES”, and then, on the other hand, the same Saturday Sun could be stating that Cable and Wireless expects to spend US $ 400 million – BDS $ 800 million – such an obscene whopping sum indeed – over the next three (3) years in completely overhauling ITS SYSTEMS AND INTRODUCING PROGRAMMES AND TECHNOLOGIES (non-human facets) to give the company a competitive edge.

Could right thinking Barbadians understand this brand of naked cruel paganism and devilism? What are people in Barbados prepared to do about this corporate affliction that is further threatening the livelihoods of many people in Barbados and thinking that these and many more people in this land would simply be perpetually hooked on communication technologies and gadgets whilst their fellow human beings suffer at the hands of it?

Too, are people in Barbados NOT thinking it could be any of them that, having been exploited, humiliated and degradated by Cable and Wireless or some other piece of profiteering junk in Barbados, could be next asked to go home?

Of course, the PDC strongly denounces this reprehensible decision by Cable and Wireless, and does encourage all right thinking people to lawfully and vigorously protest as soon as possible on the streets and elsewhere against that kind of inhumanity and its ungracious effects on to-be-former staff and others, which altogether have come at a time when social, material and financial conditions for tens upon tens upon tens of thousands of people are definitely worsening in Barbados.

  7. @ GT Lover
Are you seriously suggesting that we should continue to ignore the growing number of illegal immigrants in this country?
If bajans are living illegally in other countries, and those countries decide to enforce their laws, do you believe right-thinking bajans would have a problem with that
If this is really your way of thinking, then I think you should follow your own advice.
Go f**k yourself, you retarded idiot.

GT Lover // October 19, 2008 at 1:39 am … “Why don’t you start by calling for all the Barbadians living abroad to be deported back to Barbados?”

AN EXCELLENT POINT. Unfiortunately, the only claim to fame many/most Bajans have is — they were born here. It not about their work ethic.

I want a job, I need a job, and my qualification is “I was born here.” Great. Try living in any real country and put that on your CV.

  9. The success of a nation is defined within the bounds of being nationalistic and patriotic. Are we understanding from some of the comments above that Barbadians should not used these characteristics to flavour their thinking and approach?

The argument here is whether we should invite illegals to leave in the context of obvious fallout which has started to appear i.e.squatting, overcrowded schools etc. Whether other countries should deport Barbadians is irrelevant to the issue being discussed.

  10. If it is determined that there are illegal immigrants here; they would not be making any contributions to the treasury or NIS because they would not have work permits, yet they would be enjoying all the social benefits provided by the taxpayers of this country, while sending precious foreign exchange back to their homelands. How long will governments continue to overtax legitimate members of the society to support the illegal immigrants? Who benefits from having a large number of illegal immigrants in the country?
Bajans have allowed our so called leaders, to ignore this mess for far too long and it is now beginning to stink of corruption at all levels. All they do, is make a few pretty speeches every now and then, perhaps they do not see it as a problem.

    SHUT UP TALKING AND ACT

I sometimes have to wonder what you people who do nothing but yap, yap, yap on here about the illegal Guyanese situation, are all about. It is mind boggling that all you ever do is post comments on these blogs about the situation, and then sit back and DO NOTHING. Are you waiting for someone else to act? I am not referring to the idiot who threatened violent action. There are peaceful ways of making Government understand that we will no longer tolerate the situation – march to Government HQ, get a petition going, make your voices heard one way or the other. because grumbling and complaining on the blogs is NOT going to solve anything. Bajans love to shout their mouths off, but I wonder how many would turn up for a demonstration outside Gov’t HQ? You’re a bunch of cowards. I am sick and fed up seeing comments about the situation, and yet no one will take action. Meanwhile, the Guyanese are having a damn good laugh at us, squatting wherever they feel like, stealing crops, living like rats – 50 in one dwelling place – and nothing will be done unless we come together and hold a peaceful demonstration at Gov’t HQ. Perhaps they will sit up and take notice then. IT IS TIME TO SHUT UP AND ACT.

  12. On wings of a song wrote “Unfiortunately, the only claim to fame many/most Bajans have is — they were born here. It not about their work ethic. I want a job, I need a job, and my qualification is “I was born here.” Great. Try living in any real country and put that on your CV.”

Barbados IS A GOOD PLACE TO LIVE BECASUE OF THE HARD WORK OF MNY GENERATIONS OF BARBADIANS.

Many of us have worked here and have also worked HARD and SUCCESSFULLY in one or more “real countries”

Whether at home or abroad we do not get or hold good productive WORK becasue of our birth certificates.

We get and hold work because we are hard working, honest, competent, well educated etc.

We can and do compete successfully with anyone anywhere in the world. We do it here, and we do it abroad.

  15. @Juris

Thanks for the reminded. We have many White people in Barbados who are illegally as well and we are not talking about the sex workers from Eastern Europe and UK.

  16. @J

Well said. I am a Bajan who worked and is still living in a “real country”. Many people when they questioned my position/level of responsibility got the same answer:

“I did not get it for my
    beautiful, buxom, blonde looks”.

I am a black Bajan working in a white man’s land.

I would suggest that the poster go “live and work, in a so-called real country” and leave Bim as they think Barbados is not a real country.

  21. As mentioned in a lot of your posts, there is serious need to have legislation put in place and action taken to ensure that Barbados does not become overrun with people.

I am not picking on Guyanese people because in fairness to them, many of them exploited a loophole left wide open by our young people. There were many jobs available in construction, agriculture and fishing but the “block-boys” who messed around at school but now want decent work weren’t taking them. So what were we to do?

Think of how many Bajans have gone to Canada to work in Farm Labour Schemes but would not do the same thing here. Why? Because the Canadian dollar looks more attractive? Wouldn’t you want to do the same work but be paid more for it? Even if it meant uprooting yourself and leaving your family to do so.

We need to look at the number of people that are coming onto this rock, it was densely populated as it was before this massive influx of non-nationals. After the offshore executives, labourers, child mothers, prostitutes and drug dealers come and get land and homes what else are we going to have?

  22. I hear Mr Sincklar saying he wants to speed up the CSME.Plus I am hearing comments about widening the class of persons to reveive CSME passports. AM I to understand that this is amove to open the bajan market to whosoever will may come. I will soon come home one evening and see people living in my house without my permission but by some treaty that my leaders sign without bajan permission. In fact I’m not too sure now who’s bajan .I’m MAD really MAD and I’m ready to do something about it, even if I have to become a martyr for my country and my family. I’m not going down without a fight.

  23. I visited a work site in St.George and ALL of the workers are non-Nationals ,some have work permits which they were proud to say(I pay a man for this,i legal so no one can touch me) Barbadians looking for work are turn away from this same site, what a crying shame…. this must stop send these people back to their country ,as far as i am concern the permits were not obtain through the right channels either ,,, what a mess we find our selves in when some dis honest officer is looking to make an extra buck.Lord help us.

  24. Listening to the town planner is depressing. He brings bad news all the time. Does anything of cheer for Bajans take place at Tcp. Lennie St. Hill was also town planner and he is the most negative person in town. The tcp is an inportant agency but a political football ask Owen Arthur who kicked it around for his friends benefit. Next town planner we pick should be someone who inspires confidence and mixes bad news with good news.

Stephen Worme who owns Barbados Light and Power is another with a negative mind set who should be replaced. Every time he opens his mouth its bad news for us. Oil price drop by fifty percent and he and Bl&p still bringing bad news.

  25. I was in conversation with a young bajan man late night. He gave this story, he applied for a job, was called for an interview. He said he realise from the tone of the interview that he wouldn’t get the job, even though he was quailified. Having not heard from the company, he passed their one day and walked into the store to find that a young indo-guyanese girl was employed. reports from some-one within the store told him that this girl knows absolutely nothing about the job but the boss and the girl go off to lunch together almost every day. What is this country coming to.The old poeple would say” what sweeten goat mout will burn he ass.”We selling out this country for a few minutes in bed?

I can’t understand how Chris Sinckler is supporting CSME.

CSME has nothing in it for Barbados and I hope it fails.

By the Way Chris Sinckler, Eagle Hall Primary School is in dire need of some computers, the school is also rated at the bottom of the heap. If you really want to help, I would suggest that you help your own Bajans first. They are the ones who voted you into the House of assembley. Take some time and visit the Eagle Hall Primary school and take note of their needs.

It is in your constituency for crying out loud.

Don’t be so concerned about the Guyanese.

  28. I’m starting to believe that “free movement” is inevitable & anyone from the other Caribbean islands can come to our shores. The reality however is that hopefully our “leaders” will adopt a free-movement system based on our limited resources NOT ON OUR ECONOMIC POTENTIAL.

There should also be numerous studies as to what population Barbados can not only safely support BUT safely sustain as well. The very idea of an unlimited free movement system is a bad idea & the EU is actually paying for that, especially the U.K.

I am for CSME as long as any managed migration plan includes Bajans first & Caricom nationals second while not extending the employment to tertiary nationals beyond Caricom, unless the employer can prove that they haven’t found an eligible employee whom is a Caricom national within the last 5 years.Any “managed migration policy” should also be a referendum to make the process as transparent as possible to Bajans. The reason being is that this is something that will affect the country well beyond any Prime minister or party in power & should be done with transparency to Bajans as Barbados IS a sovereign nation within Caricom.

dont think that is talk I am willing to do this thing peacefully or ……… you fill in the blanks. I know many persons who will be willing (or so they claim) I dont care though this one for my children.

SUTAA something else came across my mind you think that we frighten we aint ya know, the younger bajans dont take crap they are willing. I know I lime on a block and I am the one who tells them that voilence is not the answer but believe me they are willing to do anything necessary to get ANY ILLEGALS OUT. Be they black or white!

Shut Up Talking & Act & JC.I am with you all.A protest march should be organise and at that march a petition should be sign by members of the public and be given to the authorities. All this talk is producing little or no response.I am a governement employee and I know I might be transfer from my job to another department but that is the price I am willing to pay to let our authorities know that we mean business.
This protest march could take place maybe the next 2 or 3 saturdays from today. I need some feedback to gauge how Barbadians feel about participating in a protest march.Time for action is now. This government is making sport.

  32. Stop Talking & Act & JC I am with you all.Action is require now.I know I might be transfer from the office I am working at if & when I participate in any action against this government. That is the price I am prepare to make for positive action to be taken against illegal immigrants.
I believe maybe a protest march should be organise maybe the next 2 or 3 saturdays from today and at that protest march a petition should be sign and deliver to the government.Enough is Enough. This country must rid of illegals especially the Indo-Guyanese scums & nasty Chinese.

  34. We in PDC have long promulgated that if we were at the helm of the government of this country since January 15 2008, that we would already have withdrawn Barbados from out of this blinking foolishness called the CSME.

For, we have long argued, et al, that
    1) the CSME represents another phase in the deepening of a thoroughly backward Eurocentric imperialist thrust into the CARICOM sub-region;

    2) the CSME has been foolishly driven by a worthless local/regional elitist merchant capitalist bureacratist political economic top-down agenda;

    3) that the total absence of an overarching CARICOM political super-structure that supports the CSME, via the notion of such a superstructure ensuring or sanctioning greater conformity and uniformity of policies and programs throughout this already faltering CARICOM project – rightly signifies at this point in time a politically weak moribund CSME; and,

    4) that the CSME has been wickedly designed to help create the further weakening and emasculating of the psychological emotional dimensions of an increasingly consumeristic materialistic pleasuristic mass of people of the sub-region.

For those and other reasons this downright foolishness called the CSME must rightly fail!!

Thus, it was good to read in the Daily Nation of Monday, October 20, 2008, that – at a workshop for the Commonwealth Association of Public Administration and Management Biennial Conference at the Hiltob Hotel on Sunday – the erudite Dr. Basil Springer had called for Barbados to break away from THIS DOWNRIGHT FOOLISHNESS CALLED THE CSME (capitals our words), saying how:” You need to have that type of body where you are going to take some of the policies from each country and hand it over to that body and say that you are responsible for that. This business of the CSME, the “E” is silent…and it will remain silent until we have this multinational body and I dont see us getting there. SO DONT WE REALIZE THAT EVERYBODY HAS TO BREAK FOR THEMSELVES”. Although Dr. Springer could have used more formal language, the latter capitalized comments indeed realistically capture one of the phenomena – insularity – that has been behind many – NOT all though – of the divisions within CARICOM affairs!! INDEED!!

But, look who wants to oppose that!! Huh!!?? Look who comes up at this same Conference – the worst and most neo-colonial minded and undiplomatic Foreign Affairs Minister Barbados has ever had since independence, that political and intellectual nightmare called Mr. Chris Sinckler, and who was reported in the same Nation news story as having shamelessly condescendingly said at that event this: ” the problem is if some of the other countries break for themselves, and it does NOT work, then we, who believe that we are a little more advanced, are going to have to deal with the fall out from them”. The fact, Mr. Minister, is that there has long been established innumerable unities and divisions within the regional ranks – every since those many bad colonial days – on various fronts, and with various benefits and costs to any or all.

Furthermore, falsely using the lower price and the level of tariff that the some so-called MFN people are apparently now suggesting for so-called MFN bananas going into Europe as a basis for his fallacy that we will either stand united or will fall via the CSME, because such a price and tariff level will mean “certain devastation” in the banana industry of the Caribbean, and “recession” for the OECS, this reactionary clown – who is more and more becoming a painful ministerial exercise to our party and many others in Barbados – is saying that with Barbados now exporting some $ 400 million ( BDS?) to the OECS ( yearly or what?), this break for yourselves mentality, if it does NOT work out, will mean ( see how more preposterous he becomes now ) that $ 400 million of exports is lost to Barbados!! Say, what!

What a load of garbage!!! Pure unmitigated ignorance and liedness from this Minister, who must now be an intellectual embarrassment to the Garrison School!! Just two facts to prove the nonsense and lied untruthfulness that Mr. SINKcler is:

    1) That this so-called OECS economy has become so diversified over the recent years that – in terms of the total combined GDPs of the OECS – dependence on Agriculture – as a viable industrial sector and an engine of so-called economic growth – has been seriously lessened and therefore only makes up for EC $ 501 million out of a total combined GDP of EC $ 8, 756 million at current prices ( 5.7 % of their combined GDP). Only in one country in the OECS is dependence on agriculture so substantial still – Dominica -where agriculture is about 18 % of its GDP at 2006 (This information – which was drawn fron the 2007 version of the Annual Statistical Digest of the Central Bank of Barbados – includes Anguilla); and

    2) As at 2006, whereas Barbados managed about BDS $ 29.6 million in imports from the OECS, it had about BDS $ 117 million in exports to the OECS. (This information – which was again drawn from the 2007 version of the Annual Statistical Digest of the Central Bank of Barbados – does not include Anguilla). So what absolute lies this minister is talking??!!! About Barbados losing $ 400 million in exports??!!

It is really time to send persons like Mr Chris Sinckler packing at the next elections, and time to STOP electing DLP and BLP Governments in this country!!

    PDC

If you have a child that you allow to do as he/she pleases, whose to blame? Stop bashing bajans on work ethics. They do what they are allowed to do. The “other people” you speak of has their dirty ways too, different but just as dirty. If I has to chose between a dirty bajan and a dirty “other person” in Barbados, give me the bajan. I will soon hear some of you saying a bajan don’t deserve the house he’s living in and it should be shared by these “other persons” or better still own by them. Keep it up, when these “other persons ” and you get kicked out or any other method of Barbados, it will be because your arrogance. This will happen sooner rather than later.

  37. Ultra Fine, I was on a block two nights ago and the topic of the Guyanese and foreigner (AS USUAL) came up.

since I didnt no the person who was speaking I didnt say a ward (at first) but then I got the better of myself and had to give my two cents worth!

A particular guy said that he gon blow way one of the guyanese! lI told him that wasnt the way and that we should boycott their buisnesses and stop breed them and blah blah blah; when lo and behold he up and told me that he was going to Nelson Street to get some Ital and a group of guyanese came up behind him and all he hearing is “leh we tek he” the guy said he was so vex I turned around and show them his gun and let them know he will blow them away if they ever think to come around him!

I am not saying he was right to have a gun or whatever, I am saying that people aint gon stand for nobody to come in Barbados and talk bout using them ‘choke and rob skills bout HERE!

Tell your friends to CHECK THEMSELVES we aint frighten let me tell you something if ANY Guyanese come round me I will pop off their HEADS! STRAIGHT!

    Tell them to check themselves!

STRAIGHT ! I aint laffing when I say it.

Bajans dont interfere with a boy not a boy first! Wannah think we passive? When it comes to what is yours the most passive person kicks up pist just try it and see what will happen then. Somebody gon dead even if it is me!

  38. Hello, I am Guyanese and very proud of my great country and its 83,000 square miles. My Guyana is 750 miles long and 750,000 smiles wide. You can reach for the stars when you climb 9,000 feet to the summit of Mount Roraima, or marvel at the 761 feet Kaieteur Falls. Anyway, my point is that why would any Guyanese loving Guyana person want to come and live in 166 square miles, look the Great City of Georgetown has that much area, yes Georgetown is 21 miles by 14 miles. Anyway, I think GT Lover is a Guyanese, not a Barbadian, thirdly, it is our tradition to cry every time a jet takes off from Cheddi Jagan Airport. I use to live at Timehri and I cried everytime a jet flew over my house. And finally, I think your illegal problem is with East Europeans, UK people, and some Americans, coming over and messing up Barbados. Oh I just heard on NCN-Television for Guyana, news that His Excellency Honourable Prime Minister David Thompson will be in Guyana next weekend to give the keynote speech at a banquet in Georgtown. He will have a wonderful time, for ayou know GUYANA eamn Land of Waters and Hospitality in Akaiwo. I have already sent an E-Mail to the, asking that curry, roti, dhal, channa, phoularie and all our Guyanese delights be on the menu, but especially Indo Guyanese food,a s I remember the last PM Owen Arthur and former DPM Mia Mottley all love Indo Guyanese food. So long bye MISS GUYANA

I feel your patriotism for your country. Everyone should feel that way about their country. That’s why I don’t understand why so many Indo-guyanese would want to come here and work a one or two acre lot for agriculture when the government there is begging for people to work the land.If guyana would solve there political problems and guyanese would respect and love their country, you guyanese would be a force to reckon with. We are getting too many illegal guyanese here especially indians and there are too much of the devient type that are making their presence felt. It is just a matter of time before bajans retaliate and forcefully. THE PROBLEM ALL guyanese will get painted with the same brush.A lot of these indo-guyanese are starting to display the same level of arrogance they practice back home. They will not getaway with it in Barbados. When the heat is turned on some of them will jump into the sea ans start swimmimng back to guyana. LIAT would be too slow.

  40. LIAT too slow in truth and too small. I wrote an E-Mail to His Excellency the Honourable President of Guyana urging him to resurect Guyana Airways, and I think he might just do that so as to give a boast to our fledging tourism industry. The problem lies with you all, in that you are failing to meet the Guyanese East Indian people. Welcome them, embrace them, but the fact of the matter is that you all want to maintain Barbados as you say a stable black society. You do know living in Guyana or living in New York or Barbados are very different. The Caribbean nations are claiming the y know Guyana, look Guyana is so complicated that even I a Guyanese have difficulty sometimes understanding what is really Guyana. Any group of people that go to another place from one place would feel ackward in integrating themselves into the general socieity. It is you all fault. Look, just cross the Courantyne River into Suriname from Guyana or to Guyana form Suriname and there is a bit of oddness, you know what I mean. It is you all fault. Go out, meet the Indi Guyanese and get to know them, you all might be there long time, but you all don’t own Barbados, white use to be the majority there years ago. Well all I have to say it is you all turn now, so let it be, seasons change, and people are cycled out from one country to the next, Indians now only account for 43% of Guyana’s national total, last century they were 51%, so we will see. By the way His Excelleny the Honourable Prime Minister of Barbados will be a the Banks DIH Ltd. compound for this awards banquent. The Banks Guyana Ltd. compound is very fabulous you know, like a lovely park with the brewery in its midst, lovely place to have a banquet.

  41. the only qualifications that the guyanese got to have are being bron in guyana and coming here working cheap

I’m ashame of you. You’re telling me we, bajans don’t own Barbados? Who owns it? guyanese?Indo-guyanese? The answer is my friend, OVER MY DEAD BODY and that of many other bajans. We don’t have to reach out to indo-guyanese, they are the ones that should reach out to bajans. The problem is they think they are superior to us, like how they classify blacks back in guyana. That can’t work here. Furthermore, this matter has gone beyond P.M Thompson or former P.M Arthur. We respect our P.M but if he doesn’t solve this matter soon he will be behind the 8ball too. Let me state this, I’m strictly against the amount of illegal guyanese in this country and their arrogant attitude. Is this what I’m to reach out towards.Tell them start swimming

  43. Scout i have mentioned on a previous blog that the GOB are trying to do something about it. you know me I was one that was in their skin deep deep. However, I think I can say with confidence that I heard something that made me feel a lot better! I cannot say what at this point in time. But things are looking up (to some extent).

  44. JC
I appriciate your effort and i honestly hope something is done soon. I keep my ears underground and the ground swell I’m getting from bajans is tantamount to rumblings from a volcano about to erupt. If you have dialogue with this administration ask them to put it on the front burner and raise it right up.

  45. The Scout,You are right about Anonymous and the lot of nonsense that person wrote. Why the hell must we reach out to Indo-Guyanese scums. Why don’t that clown ask Indo-Guyanese to reach out to their black-Guyanese counterparts. We black Barbadians do not want any close ties with wicked, disease ridden, racist and detestable Indo-Guyanese hum bugs.Indo-Guyanese and Indians on the whole are a destructive race. They kill for joy even their own leaders.
The Scout yes I am hearing what JC is saying.Apparently real action is about to come down on this issue by this government.I have certain details of the action but I will not release it as yet.At last positive action seems to be on the horizon.
Indo-Guyanese scums go home black Barbados do not want your type.

Last time I checked Barbados currently belongs to Barbados’ Citizens & What you have said is definitely inflammatory akin to overthrowing a sovereign nation.

Bajans do NOT have to welcome anyone who thinks they deserve a right to be in BIM that is OUR RIGHT.We as Bajans make the rules when it comes to OUR immigration laws & anyone nation or otherwise that think they can bully or incite this nation has another thing coming.

JC,I’ve definitely been reading up that the immigration department has been getting tough but mainly on work permits really & who stay legally. The problem with that though is that there hasn’t been much worksite enforcement & which I think would get the message across that illegal immigration cannot be tolerated in Barbados,no matter the nationality.Legal immigration should be the absolute & only way to this island, including proper exit controls for those who are legally here when there time is up.

  47. Negroman
Coming from you and JC, you give me positive vibes. I know Rome wasn’t built in a day but with modern equipment, I hope it doesn’t take as long as Rome took to build to solve this crisis. I will listen to the P.M’s quarterly report tonight at 8.02. Enjoy your holiday.

  48. People of the GOB have realised what is going on and they are cracking down on them! It will be a tough fight but we must keep pressing on1 I am one that believes that Ms. McClean wants to do the right thing but let me tell you this thing reall serious even the Guyanese maids have an organisation.

They rotate at houses so therefore by the time immigration gets to them they gone! Wannah think these people easy! ha ha ha lol wannah aint hear nothing yet! I have been hearing some storieses that have me PIST OFF!

We have to work hard at getting these people to a managed proportion or let me tell you Bajans dead straight!

  49. Negroman is home in Barbados for a holiday or is he celebrating Diwali, as all Guyanese around the world are doing this weekend to usher in the Festival of Lights, where good triumphs over evil. Please allow me to kindly wish all the wonderful people of Barbados a Happy and safe Diwali, and to all of our Guyanese Barbadians a safe and wonderful Diwali. I would also like to tell them that NCN TV Guyana will broadcast the Diwali parade at 6:30 PM from the Campbellvile Sri Krishna Mandir to the LBI Community Centre Ground, you
can watch it on the NCN website.

  50. You are the ones that exploit good hard working Guyanese, nd then you come here blogging about Guyanese taking over. I have read stories from the Nation newspapers where it said a Guyanese man was beaten severly by his wealthy employer there, and when he went to the police they just deported him on the evening BWIA flight back to Guyana, this was in 2005. The victim was never allowed to take his belongings back to Guyana and the cruel employer was never brought to justice. There is a case where a Guyanese was overcharged rent for an unfinished apartment without a bathroom, another incident where a Guyanese was approached by her Barbadian landlord for sexual favours and when she declined he turned her over to the authorities on the premise that she had overstayed her time. You all want cheap labour, so in effect the people that are creating the problem is you, then you come hear and blog how you love Barbados, Barbados is we own, and so on, but yet you break the laws by employing cheap imported labour. Your companies did recruit from Guyana and I did accompany someone to one of these interviews in Georgetown at the Le Meridian to see if he could get a job in Barbados. Had you not send recruiters to Guyana, there is no way Guyanese would have just upped themselves and come over. Guyanese are in a different country, Barbados, don’t you think the neighbourly thing to do is to meet them and greet them. I would think so, and I think you have a worped idea that the Indians are so unfriendly and they looking down on black people and all this nonsense, you get that info from Kean, but look, she knows better than that, but I think she is using the US as her pardigm to describe Guyana’s race issues. There is no racial majority in Guyana anymore, but as I have said to you the 16% of the population that is mixed, is mixed with African, African/Indian, African/Portuguese Amerindian/Chinese/African and this group could be placed in the black group which brings the black group to 46%, but not a majority, but the largest minority group, but you are so against the Indians, that I have wonder about you. Let me tell you this the PNC can’t win an election in Guyana even if all the 46% African and African mixed voted PNC, and the same is true for the PPP, one needs some Indians to vote for them and the other Africans to vote for them. And there are a lot of black people in Guyana that love Indians. THE END Happy Diwali.
