A member of the BU household attended the traditional celebrations on Labour Day held on Eastern Parkway in New York on Monday (1 September 2008). According to reports the Barbados revellers drew the #8 slot which is a far cry from #20 which it had done in previous years. As you can see from the pictures the yellow and blue was represented!

We have been having an animated discussion on the Is Wuking Up “Without limits” Barbadian Culture? which was submitted by BU family member Yardbroom. The feedback which we have gotten is that Barbadians wukkup and enjoyed themselves but they did so without the gay abandon which was demonstrated in our Crop Over 2008.

Bajan Yankees must be losing it!

  1. wait but looking the women wukking up pun the NYPD . Dey cant do dat on the RBPF LOL

Also I wonder if Dee Dee get cuss and stoned like she did in Barbados….?

  2. I’m glad that Barbadians didn’t display their rudeness on the Parkway.

  3. We had a good time on the Parkway. There was a lot of wukking up, even on the NYPD and it was all in good fun. No lewdness.

  4. FROM WHAT I SAW IN THE SLIDE -THE SAME LEVEL OF VULGARITY WAS EXHIBITED—-check the slide with the fellow in between the woman legs simulating sexual intercourse —

  5. @Q

It has to do with the number of acts of that nature. If that slide was a one-off then you can’t say that it was the same level. People who were on Eastern Parkway have said that overall it was a very well constructed festival. We would have to go with feedback from people who were there don’t you think?

  6. @ Q

It’s a majority thing. If one or two people get outta hand then it’s ok.

One would get the impression that most of the revellers get outta hand in Barbados.

    Shupes!

  7. I see the gays were well represented. At least we have a “culture” to export.
