We have received tons of email and comments in recent days regarding how some BU family members feel about the tone of some of the comments being posted. We fully expect that given some of the topics which we have attempted to deal with that comments may sometimes straddle certain ‘standards’ set by some. We fully appreciate that in a civil society there must be ‘a time and a place’ approach to anything we do as humans.
We believe that Barbados, for too long has operated like an exclusive club, where a small group of people are privy to important information flows. Consequently they have been able to disproportionately benefit financially and other wise in relation to the overall population. One approach to interfering with this information flow is to more freely disburse how information is disseminated in our small society.
In response to the perennial suffocation of ‘Vox Populi’ we have seen the emergence of the Bajan Blogosphere. We are the first to admit that BU as one of the Barbadian blogs is wholly inadequate to do the job which is currently required. However to do something is better than to do nothing, therefore our conscience is clear!
To the point of this particular blog. We have posted a Comments Policy at the top of the page which we hope will help to clarify some of the concerns expressed to date. We will leave the comments section open on the Comments Policy page to receive feedback if BU family members feel incline to do so.
