    Russia and China ain’t going do one thing but talk now. China got enough problems with trade and Putin already getting his stones squeeze over Ukraine.

    Also don’t forget Russia is who stepped in and stopped the Venezuelan coup when Maduro’s own people had him to skin out. Putin hands when it come to Venezuela got the same dirt on them as Trump.

    Your reading is completely wrong about the petrodollar and oil.

    It is a too narrow and lacks a clear understanding about the complexity at work, you assume dependencies which no longer exist.

    One, even if China was expelled out the Venezuelan oil market thus losing its investments and discounted oil these matters are eventually settled on the financial side. Meaning that China could put pressure in the US by, for example, selling more US paper faster. It currently hold about 850 billion. And even if China had to pay higher prices for crude it could source those supplies from sellers, like Saudi Arabia or Iran, who trade in the yuan. No need for petrodollars.

    There are no dependencies on Venezuelan oil which cannot be compensated from other sources. And these higher cost goods will be sold to America and others. China is left unharmed.

    Two, currently the USD is only used in 57 percent of international transactions. A few years ago it was about 70 percent. Moreover, there are a wide variety of alternatives to SWIFT. Btw, SWIFT is merely a messaging system. Whereas the analogues actual move funds without the intervention of corresponding banks.

    In addition alternatives include trading in national currencies, like, for example, the Russians and the Indians have long been doing, many other countries especially within the BRICS.

    Also there is BRICS-Bridge a transfer system, an alternative to SWIFT, used by the UAE, for example. And there are others transfer systems run by Russia, Iran, Ethiopia, India, Saudi Arabia and others. All these alternatives charge around 0.90 percent whereas SWIFT charges about 4.00 percent of the transaction, they provide same day transfers as opposed to SWiFT which could take as many as 4 days, must go through New York and the funds have to be changed from one currency to another twice.

    Of course, these are highly technical matters but it is hoped that this gives a flavor that because of the collapse of dependencies on the American run system of financial colonialism is the structural reason why American felt it necessary to invade Venezuela as the beginning of a wider assault on the Western Hemispheric countries.

    America is currently where the British were before WW1. Britian did not lose a war but the America dollar presented a better alternative and quietly the British lost reserve currency status because of the growing popularity of the USD.

    Statistics on transaction volume by the various global transfer platforms like SWIFT is proprietary and not easy to support evidence based analysis.

    Venezuela is a large producer of heavy crude along with Canada needed to supply US refineries and domestic demand. See link posted above.

    We are all reading the tea leaves here noting that China is a net purchaser of oil to feed its voracious appetite for oil to supply its domestic economy.

    Time will tell how this shakes out. Allow the opinions to contend.

    Another factoid. By 2035 the use of USD in international transactions is projected to be down to 45 percent. This is their number.

    Some people never learn.

    I myself did not like Maduro, but I understand that this illegal action has ramifications for more than thirty million Venezuelans. This is blatant colonisation and exploitation being normalised again. We are going back to the nineteenth century!

    And I also understand that Donald Trump and his oligarchs have no good intentions towards Venezuelans.

    Donald Trump is a malignant narcissist who cares nothing about anybody but himself. The rest of his administration is made up of
    white supremacists, greedy oligarchs and just evil people. Only a total idiot would expect good things to come from the actions of such horrible creatures. They don’t care about brutal dictators in power as long as it is their brutal dictator. The United States government has a documented history of this.

    And yet, one here thinks that freedom has come to Venezuelans!

    A couple of days ago, BYD, an electric car manufacturer from China, overtook Tesla in its sales of electric cars in America’s domestic car market

    It’s apparent that under nearly every metric that the USA can no longer compete with China.

    Trump recognises this fact. It’s normal behaviour for this racist nation to revert to raw colonial racism in order to have hegemony over the entire Americas.

    Our limited prime minister must decide if she wants to continue entering into an economic, social and cultural relationship with this demonic nation. Iran called out America as being the great Satan many decades ago. Let’s see if our prime minister has the courage to decouple herself from the beast. For example, Barbados imports large quantities of inferior, drug riddled, carcinogenic food from the USA. Why?

    Barbados should not be selling real estate to these Yankee devils. These people once installed will steal our island.

    America no longer has the capacity to compete in a competitive free market. I’m praying for David in this battle for Venezuela. Yankee go home!!!!

    Saying the quiet part out loud

    PRIME MINISTER Kamla Persad-Bissessar’s remarks about CARICOM and regional security now sit in a far more dangerous context than when she first made them.

    What once sounded like a blunt critique of regional weakness must now be read against a stark reality: the United States has bombed Venezuela, captured its president and his wife, and declared that it will oversee the country until a transition government is installed.

    Whatever one thinks about those actions, the implications for the Caribbean are profound. A US president has publicly claimed the authority to overthrow a neighbouring government, remove its leadership and manage its political future – outside international law, outside multilateral sanction and based on a justification few take seriously. In that world, no small state can afford to pretend that rules alone will protect it.

    The stated rationale – that the operation was about stopping the flow of drugs into the US – rings hollow. The US has tolerated druglinked regimes when it suited its interests and cracked down when it did not. What matters now is not the weakness of the pretext, but the precedent being set: Washington can remove leaders it dislikes and dare the world to respond.

    Trinidad and Tobago sits just miles from Venezuela. Migration, smuggling, arms trafficking and organised crime already strain its institutions. Violent crime dominates domestic politics and citizens demand immediate protection. Against that backdrop, Persad-Bissessar’s insistence that her first responsibility is the safety of Trinidad and Tobago’s people is politically understandable.

    Fear and uncertainty

    Her criticism of CARICOM should be read in that light. In a region where security mechanisms are slow and under-resourced, the US remains the only actor with overwhelming force. Persad-Bissessar’s government is hosting US forces and participating in joint exercises. These are strategic choices made in a climate of fear and uncertainty.

    But this is where the discomfort begins.

    When a Caribbean leader embraces US security logic at the same moment that Washington overthrows a neighbouring government, something fundamental shifts. What looks like pragmatism can also function as normalisation. The more regional leaders accept unilateral force as necessary or inevitable, the harder it becomes to resist when that force is used again.

    If drugs can justify removing Venezuela’s leadership, what justifies action against Mexico tomorrow? Or Cuba? Or any state whose resources, migration patterns or political choices displease Washington? Once the line is crossed, it is no longer clear where it lies.

    This is the deeper tension in Persad-Bissessar’s posture. On one reading, she is hedging – aligning closely with the dominant power to ensure Trinidad and Tobago is seen as cooperative, not resistant. In a world where the US president openly claims the authority to act without restraint, staying “inside the tent” can look like survival, not submission.

    On another reading, however, her remarks risk weakening the very shield that has historically protected small Caribbean states. CARICOM was never a military alliance. It was a political one – designed to slow escalation, insist on sovereignty and make unilateral action costly by forcing it into the open. That shield only works if it is held together.

    Threat of secondary sanctions

    Here, CARICOM looks dangerously exposed. Despite the gravity of the US actions and claims, there has been no clear, unified statement from the bloc’s leadership. Neither the outgoing nor incoming chair of CARICOM have publicly articulated a regional position on US intervention. Silence may be intended as caution, but in moments like this it functions as acquiescence.

    Caribbean economies depend on access to US financial and commercial networks. Sanctions – formal or informal – hang over every decision. Even the threat of secondary sanctions is enough to discipline behaviour. This makes open defiance costly and quiet alignment tempting. But it also means that decisions are increasingly shaped by fear rather than strategy.

    If Persad-Bissessar had kept her views private, CARICOM might look calmer today. But it would not be stronger. US forces would still be present. The region would still be navigating a world where power appears less constrained by law. Her remarks did not change the direction of travel. They exposed it.

    The real danger now is whether the Caribbean is prepared for a world in which Washington’s actions are asserted as normal. If unilateral force becomes the accepted currency of hemispheric politics, then regional unity is no longer a luxury – it is the only defence small states have.

    Persad-Bissessar did not create this moment. But by breaking with diplomatic convention and questioning CARICOM’s value openly, she has forced the region to confront an uncomfortable truth: Caribbean integration was built for a rules-based world, and that world may be slipping away.

    I am not only an expert watcher of television. I am also an expert reader of books, you fool! Are you unable to face the truth of your military service to empire? Is that why you ignore the well–documented history of what happens when the United States of America gets involved in the affairs of other countries? Is that why you choose to believe that the clear fact that the United States government has gone from colonialism to neocolonialism and now back to colonialism?

    Whether I believe them or not is immaterial to me. I never examined them closely. What is material is that the man, whether roaming the world “and other places too” like Sir Garfield, living in a cave or lecturing at Sir Hillary’s Cave, whether running his business or running his mouth, whether serving the empire or a blasted liar, this man often talks like an uneducated poppet!

    The silence is deafening?
    While the obvious focus is black gold, the global pivot back to gold gold, makes reserves, both known and potential, mouthwatering. Not to mention other minerals and metal ores. Amerikka doesn’t have much left. Even crops, require major subsidies to be competitive. Though they point fingers at anyone who does likewise.
    Yet MAGA has a major weakness. Labour rates. They can attempt to bring production back to US soil, as we define it today, and unless that production is automated, it cannot compete.
    And Vietnam, Air America (aka CIA Air) etc taught us lessons what the Americans do with narcotics and other valuables they can harvest/extract.
    Much easier to just teef land and resources.
    While weee ponder how de RH they removed Maduro, we no longer wonder what the USA “might” do? Who’s next? The list is long.

    What all of you overlook – even (INCLUDING SHABS* is the “BIBLICAL PROPHETIC ANGLE”)!!!

    I can sit here @almost 1900 hrs GMT* & dial in on every aspect of the #PoLIEticalNarrative – showing every facet of the “ARGUMENT” on all sides – “BUT IF” the prophetic “SCALE” is left out, the “UNDERSTANDING” is “SHALLOW”, “WEAK”, “SKEWED” & “DANGEROUSLY ON-SIDED”!!!
