It may be unfathomable to some – though not to the blogmaster – that a formal complaint was filed against attorneys Leodean Worrell and Jalisa Watson, yet the body tasked with adjudicating such matters has failed to fulfill its mandate. The background to this issue is detailed in an earlier blog: Complaint Filed Against Lawyers Leodean Worrell & Jalisa Watson with the Disciplinary Committee.

How are Barbadians expected to place their trust in institutions such as the Disciplinary Committee (DC), Fair Trading Commission (FTC), Financial Services Commission (FSC), Barbados Police Service (BPS), and the many other entities established to protect the public interest? This is a nation increasingly dominated and governed by lawyers with the only formal mechanisms standing between the public and professional misconduct a dysfunctional DC and a Barbados Bar Association (BBA) that appears more protective than proactive.

  1. Knowing ’bout hey’ this will easily take 9-11 years at a minimum to be resolved in the client’s favor.

But why does this Leodean woman sound so familiar?? Ahhhhhh yes

  2. @ Hants
    To be clear…
Their ACTUAL concern is about how long it takes the lawyers to get paid….

    No altruism here boss…

  3. ” The abuse of young girls through statutory rape and the failure of both police and, sometimes, their families to ensure that perpetrators are brought to justice is a sign of a deeper, darker situation. His call for stronger prosecution of these cases, even in the face of societal and familial silence, is worthy of attention by the administration.”
