Our bodies and cars have some similarities. Cars may stop working if they are not properly maintained or if they are damaged in major collisions. Mechanics are trained to fix broken cars. Fixing a broken car may require the replacement of several parts; however, once the repair is finished, a driver is needed for the car to resume operating.
Our bodies may stop working properly for diverse reasons and doctors are trained to fix them. Fixing a broken body may require transplanting some organs; however, after the medical procedures are finished, the repaired body needs a soul for it to resume operating.
DRIVERS.
Once the soul leaves the body, the person is said to have died. Bodily functions may be kept working with medical equipment, but the body cannot live or be conscious without the soul. While we can transplant organs of other bodies, we cannot transplant the person – the soul.
This reveals one major difference between the human body and a car – while any driver may occupy the repaired car for it to move, only the soul assigned to that body can operate it after the repair.
ACHIEVING ONENESS.
Some claim that there is no such thing as a soul and that this consciousness is simply a part of the brain. The reason for this claim is that they have not detected the soul. Perhaps a return to the car analogy may explain this issue.
Experienced drivers may achieve oneness with their cars as if the cars became extensions of their bodies. They learn to operate cars without thinking and driving becomes as automatic as breathing. The driver is the car’s consciousness and can be said to give life to the car – directing it where the driver wants to go.
When we were children, we achieved oneness with our bodies as we learnt to crawl, walk and run. Adults tend to take this oneness for granted. However, they may experience it again by persistently practicing a new skill like skating or playing a musical instrument.
INVALUABLE SOUL.
It is easy to isolate the human from the car because we have sufficient knowledge about the manufactured car – we can read the operating and repair manuals to isolate every car part. The only reason why we cannot isolate the soul from our bodies is because we do not have sufficient knowledge. That knowledge resides with God so we would need to consult Him.
Our bodies can operate for 120 years if they are not misused, but our souls are eternal. One soul is worth more than all the riches of every nation on this Earth. Jesus put it this way: “For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?” (Mark 8:36-37).
OUR PURPOSE.
We are in the first stage of training to manage the almost infinite number of stars by loving God and each other. It is critically consequential for us to forgive everyone for every wrong they have done us in the same way we want God to forgive us for the wrongs we have done to His creation. We do not advance to the second stage of training if we have not been forgiven in this stage – something which is entirely within our control.
When our time on Earth is up, we will go where we have chosen to go. Those who chose to continue their training will receive more durable bodies for that stage. Those who chose not to forgive will remain in their decaying bodies in a place that Jesus described as “where their worm does not die and the fire is not quenched”.
OUR CHOICE.
To choose to spend eternity in a decaying body over managing the stars in an indestructible one makes absolutely no good sense. It is, without doubt, the most stupid choice a human being can make. Yet Jesus noted that most would choose the short-term thrills of unforgiveness and oppressing others to gain wealth over a fulfilling future working with God.
Jesus explained that there is no escape from the place of the unemployed and those who chose that way will weep at their missed opportunity. They will also gnash their teeth at those who deceived them to pursue a path of unforgiveness – suggesting that their deceivers will be similarly unemployed. The time to change employment paths is now.
