Dear Anti-Vaxxers:

Long before COVID-19, you were against vaccinations for your own reasons. Those reasons were accepted by the Government and people of Barbados, and you lived among us in peace – for decades. You did not advocate that Barbadians be forced to adopt your lifestyle. You simply lived – and let others live.

With the advent of COVID-19, your reasons for being anti-Vaxx no longer mattered. It was decided that all unVaxxed had only two choices – either be jabbed, or be forced into bankruptcy, homelessness, and poverty.

IRREDEEMABLE.

The Government divided the unVaxxed into two groups, hesitant and anti-Vaxxers. The hesitant are supposed to be redeemable simpletons who can be bought, like how our enslaved ancestors were sold, with cheap trinkets. The Government is reportedly trying to find the right ‘incentives’.

You, the anti-Vaxxers, are supposed to be too hardened to be redeemed. You are supposed to be spreaders of dangerous misinformation, and a threat to the economy and social fabric of Barbados. You are supposed to be the real enemy of Barbados.

FALLING DIVIDED.

The Government talks about unity, while actively dividing Barbadians. Jesus stated that a house divided against itself cannot stand – so ruin is foreseen. Frustratingly, this division is unnecessary. So, what is the way forward?

With COVID-19 now out of all control in Barbados, we should design a system assuming that most Barbadians will be infected with COVID-19. To capture everyone, the system should be designed specifically for you.

PRODUCTIVITY AIM.

We should aim for COVID-19 not affecting our productivity. The current policy of shutting down schools and businesses, just because one person got COVID-19, only achieves unproductivity.

To achieve the productivity aim, people should try to avoid getting COVID-19, and if they get it, they should prepare themselves to recover quickly. We can try to avoid getting COVID-19 by following the sanitary protocols.

RECOVER QUICKLY.

We can prepare to recover quickly by giving our bodies strong immune systems to fight the virus. Therefore, we should live healthy lifestyles, including healthy eating. If we cannot obtain sufficient daily fruit, then we should take one 500 mg tablet of Vitamin C every day.

If anyone feels sick, then that person, and those who share the same home or work space, should take 1,000 mg of Vitamin C each day for the next two weeks. If someone gets COVID-19, and they recover, then they should have a natural immunity, which recent studies show is superior to the jabs.

JABS FOR THE VULNERABLE.

The vulnerable groups are the weak, the sick, and those who chose to live unhealthy lives. Given the high death rate in these vulnerable groups, they should be given the first option of the jabs. Anyone else can follow.

Barbadian tax-payers support all Barbadians who fall ill. Barbadians are encouraged to reject the high-fat, high-salt, high-sugar, and highly processed unhealthy fast food. But if they fall sick, we do not discriminate between those who responsibly lived healthy lifestyles, and those who irresponsibly did not.

LIVE AND LET LIVE.

Taxpayers pay to medically treat both the sexually faithful and the sexually promiscuous – we do not judge the sick. That is why the movement to withhold medical treatment to the unVaxxxed is so disgusting.

Those who want to trust the jabs to fight the virus should be allowed to do so. Those who want to build their immune systems naturally, and trust their bodies to fight the virus, should also be allowed to do so.

LIVE AND LET DIE.

The jabs should never be forced on anyone. Neither should living a healthy and moral lifestyle be forced on anyone. In such matters, the Government’s role should be to set national standards of the majority, and allow persons the freedom to both discuss and strive towards them.

So, what should you, the health-conscious anti-vaxxers do? Given the general unhealthy state of many Barbadians, your method of keeping to yourself was evidently a live and let die approach. Perhaps it is time that you became more vocal in advocating a healthier lifestyle, so that you may truly live and let live.

  1. A shocker or WTF moment

    Heard David Ellis Brass tacks
    Said

David Ellis said that someone dropped off a decomposing body at the QEH which seems to be from a home isolation. SMH!!!!!

  2. Chris:

You wrote: “Can you bring forward a single example of a birth defect that can even be correlated with a “jab”?”

That is how misinformation is spread. I never wrote or suggested that the COVID-19 jabs resulted in any birth defects. But your suggesting that I did only gave the same bad actors something to jump on. You must do better.

  3. The state of Barbados health system is in or near total collapse
Not at all surprised a 166sqmiles island and one hospital could never fight or wrestle this virus to the ground
Govt help to create this problem with false illusions welcoming all to the country having grand performances on international tV inviting all and every
My sympathies lies with the people
Now the people are all left to fight this virus alone by now most have given up
Hence dead bodies are being left to dry rot in homes before people seek help
What a place to be having a govt running after a bolted horse call COVID

This is not a shocker, fear will make otherwise sensible people do stupid things.

The authorities are breeding fear when they scaremonger non-stop the notion that you will catch COVID and kill half your family if you don’t get the vaccine.

How do we know the person was not dropped off alive but got ignored for so long at the QEH waiting room that they died and started to decompose?

Grenville. I will do my best to do better. May I please ask you to do the same?

In your post to this thread dated 2021.10.26.9:36 pm you brought up Thalidomide. Are you familar with all the chemistry behind that?

At the end of the day, this is a VERY complicated situation. No one knows, for sure, what is the correct thing to do (even if there actually is one).

Economic curves (which, sadly, includes human deaths in the calculus), and all of that.

    Xxxxx
That is stretch because the QEH is a public hospital and someone would have noticed a body sitting or lying in one place for over a long period of timrv
I don’t belive that David would relay that information if he did not have confirmed information to satisfy himself and what is being told in the story

  8. A total of 391 persons were identified as COVID-19 positive on Tuesday, October 26, by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory. The lab conducted 2,078 tests. Six persons died from the virus yesterday.

  9. Chris:

I explained the reason why I brought up Thalidomide. Not to suggest that COVID-19 created birth defects, but to show the importance of long-term clinical trials – to identify the long-term side effects of medicines. That is the ONLY reason why I brought it up.

This is very complicated precisely because no long-term clinical trials could be done in an emergency situation. It is also very complicated because this mRNA and DNA vaccines for COVID-19 are new technology – and variants complicate it further.

I agree that is a stretch but that is more plausible than someone putting a decomposing body in a car unless that person is so distraught with grief they can’t think straight.

This is symptomatic of the biggest problem we face with all our governments both B and D. Everyone of them feels they have the right to come to the press or make announcements and give anecdotal, hearsay information and opinions without giving facts or fully investigating the situation before making pronouncements.

If they want to be believed, they need to bring the facts people are asking. People are intelligent enough to decide for themselves or consult trusted persons to reach their own conclusions.

  11. @Grenville: “This is very complicated precisely because no long-term clinical trials could be done in an emergency situation.

Exactly. What part of “extraordinary times” isn’t clear?

But he said this had not curbed the spread of the virus from person to person “to the extent that we would have liked”.

“That has to then be be taken into account in our collective behaviour,” he told a briefing of the National Public Health Emergency Team (Nphet) on Wednesday.

He said: “The suppression that we’re seeing (from vaccination)… unfortunately, it’s just not quite enough on its own to suppress the transmission of the virus that has a natural transmission capability as high as Delta.

“This is a really highly transmissible virus.””

    +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

  23. Scientist Whose Wife Was Injured by COVID Vaccine Tells FDA: ‘Please Do Not Give This to Kids’
Brian Dressen, Ph.D., who is a chemist with an extensive background in researching and assessing the degree of efficacy in new technologies, told the U.S. Food and Drug Administration Pfizer’s vaccine “failed any reasonable risk-benefit calculus in connection with children.”

    By Megan Redshaw

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) advisory committee on Tuesday endorsed Pfizer’s COVID vaccine for children ages 5 to 11, despite strong objections raised during the meeting by multiple scientists and physicians.

Brian Dressen, Ph.D., is one of the scientists who testified during the 8-hour hearing.

Dressen is also the husband of Brianne Dressen, who developed a severe neurological injury during the Utah-based portion of the U.S. AstraZeneca COVID vaccine trial in 2020. After being injured by the first dose, Brianne withdrew from the trial.

During his 3-minute testimony, Dressen, a chemist with an extensive background in researching and assessing the degree of efficacy in new technologies, told the FDA advisory panel Pfizer’s vaccine “failed any reasonable risk-benefit calculus in connection with children.”

    Dressen said:

“Your decision is being rushed, based on incomplete data from underpowered trials, insufficient to predict rates of severe and long-lasting adverse reactions. I urge the committee to reject the EUA [Emergency Use Authorization] modification and direct Pfizer to perform trials that will decisively demonstrate that the benefits outweigh the risks for children. I understand firsthand the impact that you will or will not have with the decision you’re going to make today.”

Three or four bullet points wold be enough to help us to understand.

  28. To those who take every doctor`s advice as the absolute gospel and want minors to be vaccinated in the absence of mid to long-term contra-indications should be made to refund the cost of their education. At least the FDA ignore the CDC irrational hysterical haste.

    Yes, I do have a 7-year-old!

    https://www.nytimes.com/2021/07/26/us/politics/fda-covid-vaccine-trials-children.html

  29. @”Taxpayers pay to medically treat both the sexually faithful and the sexually promiscuous.”

I trust that you understand that a person does not have to be promiscuous in order to contract a sexually transmitted disease.

I trust that you know that both male and female virgins can become infected with any, all or many of the following:
    Bacterial Vaginosis
    Chancroid
    Chlamydia
    Gonorrhea
    Hepatitis
    Herpes
    HIV
    Human papillomavirus
    Pubic lice
    Scabies
    Syphilis
    Trichomoniasis

So people with STD’s are treated because they are sick, not because they are sexually faithful or sexually promiscuous.

If you doubt me, ask the other GP I am sure that he has treated many sexually faithful people in his days as a public health doctor.

  30. @Grenville “giving our bodies strong immune systems to fight the virus.”

Most people can’t even bake a good old Bajan pudding even if given the recipe and the very simple ingredient list of:
    flour
    sugar
    egg
    butter
    baking powder
    essence

And we imagine that lay people have the knowledge to build a healthy immune system?

Just now I am going to start building sky scrapers, buildings which are significantly less complex than the human immune system. I am sure that I can do such very well by following the simple straight forward advice of non-engineers/non-architects on the internet.

If anybody wants to travel i am thinking of getting a pick as a commercial airline pilot. It can’t be that hard to fly and land a plane without the requisite professional training. I am sure that I can get the know-how from a non-pilot on the internet.

  31. @Grenville “That is why the movement to withhold medical treatment to the unVaxxxed is so disgusting.”

Everybody please note that NOBODY, and I repeat NOBODY in Barbados in or out of government, or the opposition, or the religious groups has suggested that medical treatment be withheld from the unvaxxed.

It seems to me that Grenville is letting his imagination run away with him.

At the urging of federal regulators, two coronavirus vaccine makers are expanding the size of their clinical trials for children ages 5 to 11 — a precautionary measure designed to detect rare side effects including heart inflammation problems that turned up in vaccinated people younger than 30.

President Biden promised at a meeting in Ohio last week that emergency clearance for pediatric vaccines would come “soon,” but the White House has not been specific on the timeline. It was unclear whether expanding the studies will affect when vaccines could be authorized for children.

The Food and Drug Administration has indicated to Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna that the size and scope of their pediatric studies, as initially envisioned, were inadequate to detect rare side effects. Those include myocarditis, an inflammation of the heart muscle, and pericarditis, inflammation of the lining around the heart, multiple people familiar with the trials said.

Questions about vaccinating children — including those under 12 — are of huge interest to parents and teachers. Regulators will be required to balance the potential side effects of coronavirus vaccination against the risks of Covid-19.

  33. @Dirt Farmer October 26, 2021 7:50 PM “no one has the right to dictate what one should or shouldn’t do.”

Actually we get told what to do all the time. I was driving today came to a traffic light and was told by the red light to STOP. I am dictated by this very same traffic light all the time. And not only in Barbados, in my travels the same thing. And when I lived in other places I was dictated to and told to pay taxes, wear a seat belt, don’t drink and drive, vaccinate my children, put out my garbage on day X, don’t paint my whole house bright red, come get ya old father from in at the people’s hospital because he is better now and the hospital int no hotel.

People dictate to me all the time.

  34. When I was young THEY even dictated to me that I MUST wear sanitary napkins or tampons, because THEY object to a little blood [or a lot, lol!] all over the bus seat, or the train seat, or the office chair, or the floor of the banking hall.

  35. Today it was revealing that somebody turned up at the QEH when they were already dead from Covid, and ROTTING too. Take note that in this 30C+ heat and high humidity decay occurs very, very quickly. Barbados a’int the great white north.

My guess would be that THEY didn’t want anybody to tell them what to do, that THEY didn’t want to be dictated to.

My question: If you and family/friends/caregivers don’t want to be dictated to by health professionals why bother to show up for medical care when you are already dead and rotting?

Isn’t that somewhat like going to Grenville for structural advice after the building has already fallen down?

  36. Barbados has a reputation for being the NCD capital of the world. This is a good reality check and place to jump off from.

And since I grew up in the country I have also know people who were victims of polio, and of tetanus, at least one spent weeks in intensive care before recovering, some are dead, dead, dead, including a 19 year old cousin who was growing up in the same gap as me until he fell off his bike and being unvaccinated against tetanus, died of what appeared to be fairly minor scrape/burn out.

  40. @Kammie

Covid 19 is a different animal, it is a virus that preys on the sick and seniors. We have a moral obligation to protect the vulnerable. The virus needs a host and once there is a playground for it to mutate we can create our version of the monster right here in Barbados.

No official has suggested that anybody will “catch COVID and kill half your family if you don’t get the vaccine.”

On page 3 of today’s Nation the Acting Chief medical officer has noted that the mortality rate for Covid19 in Barbados is 1.2% “When we look at the case fatality ratio (proportion of deaths) at 1.2 per cent, it is at the lower end of the range of rates seen globally. That said, we want zero deaths,” he said.

Alas I did not study statistics at elementary school, so please correct me if I am wrong in saying that 1% of Barbados 270,000 population is 2,700 people. And 0.2% is some other smaller number. So if everybody got Covid maybe 3,000 will die, and if half the population got covid about 1500 will die and if one quarter of the population got covid than about 750 people will die.

So far only 150 people have died. So we have 600 to about 2800 empty coffins waiting to be filled.

Volunteers needed for this most important project. Who wants to be dead body 150?

Most of the COVID-19 deaths I hear reported in Barbados have stated that individual’s vaccination status AND THE presence of NCDs
Also If you know about the prevalence of NCDs in Barbados (and in the world) and knowing how such NCDs impact the immune system does it not heighten the urgency for these said people to be vaccinated against a virus that clearly needs a non suppressed immune system to properly fight off?
So can it not be seen as an “unintended benefit” to report COVID-19 deaths in this way as added incentive to avoid poor diet, health regimes and lifestyle choices that may be causal factors to some types of NCDs?

  48. By chance, I met the person yesterday I thought may have had COVID who I helped a few weeks ago.

At the time the person was suffering from gastrointestinal issues and was vomiting which according to the internet is a symptom of COVID.

The person was parked side of the road hanging out the vehicle and unable to drive.

After listening to Dr. Chetty about his experiences in South Africa I realised the gastro symptom may or may not be associated with COVID.

I figured out in my non medical brain that if the water is contaminated with fecal matter, it isn’t only going to be the virus you face but also gastrointestinal problems.

In fact I also got the gastro knowledge from both Sir Maurice Byer and my father when I was growing up.

I had cousins who often had the bowels but whose family did not exercise the strict treatment of water my father instituted in his household.

I asked the person where they live and was told in the Southern Corridor.

I kind of knew the answer before I asked because of what the Minister of Health had said about that corridor having most of the cases of COVID.

Told the person without even mentioning COVID to be careful with the water on the south coast and a bit about my thinking.

They say they are going to filter but really boiling is best.

Unfortunately, even that doesn’t prevent whatever is in the water from getting into the body when we bathe as we are also told the virus can enter through the eyes, nose and mouth.

If I am right, it boils down (no pun intended) to the Government fixing its problem.

I suspect some folks will present with COVID and gastro, some will present with COVID alone and some will present with gastro alone and that will speak to what is going on with the water in the particular distribution areas where they live.

When I was growing up and even as an adult I always used to hear the older folk opine about “Gastric Flu” something I never had.

That I understood to be the bowels and the flu which as my knowledge of water expanded I realised was probably waterborne.

So even the flu may be waterborne as well as airborne, simple logic suggested by simple observable empirical evidence!!

Which also explains the spread of the Spanish flu in waves.

It may have been nothing to do with mutations which is what Dr. Chetty is saying, each of the strains of COVID he treated were equally catching.

What the experts who opine about how transmissible the Delta variant is may be the effect of a second means of spreading the virus and this method is far more efficient than the first.
