  1. YTD the murder numbers have returned to normal?

  2. Five too many for such a small population
Meanwhile the home invasion robbery which left a tourist paralyzed leaving a bad taste in the mouth of barbadians seems to have been given its fifteen minutes of news headlines with little being said if the culprits been caught
The truth being that barbados is now reflecting an image to the outside world of not taking barbados for granted
Also a day or two ago another tourist was robbed and beaten
    on the streets of barbados

  3. “Also a day or two ago another tourist was robbed and beaten”

So we must arm the tourists so that they can defend themselves against the native masses who voted for the DLP. Better one shot too many than one too few. The island is overpopulated anyway. So one voter more or less for the DLP doesn’t matter.

It is obvious that the DPP will not crack down on crime. Because she’s a child of the blue, she’s on the wrong side of the law.

  4. The positive here is that the trending for 2020 compared to 2019 is an improved one. We pray that it continues.

  5. There is no positive here what the country is experiencing is a lull
The bad boys which are many have not pick up residence elsewhere and disappeared off the island
Most likely they might be engaging in other strategies undetectable by police force until bodies are found

  6. David most of the violent crime is being covered up its the year of return 2020 so they have make it appears that they done something it’s way to quiet almost to quiet.

  7. Why havent govt officials release the causes of fires over the past year where they were deaths included
By all means good goverance is hung and lead by a manifestation of the public having a right to know
One cannot help but think that there is an underlying thought process which runs through the minds of govt and their officals called ” coverup”
    Not good

  8. You are suggesting that there are murders which have not been reported? We are discussing murders and not other crime.

  9. Mariposa your absolutely right it’s way too quiet here in Barbados.Another thing there been real drop in the number drugs and guns seized by police.

  10. David if your comment was poised to me
Yes that is what i am suggesting which ever brings my attention back to Natalie Chrichlow death which govt wants all to belive that a grown a.ss woman does not know the difference between a pot of water and a human being having a purpose of killing her
Also once again my memory brings be back to the youth found in the shallow grave in St. Andrew no rationale or reasonable or acceptable explanation given by govt
These are eye piercing examples of how govt along with those in authority like to blind sight the populace with frivolous explanations
    Not good

  11. Here comes the BU police..

We have to raise our comments to a higher level. Sometimes we drop statements that do not reflect the topic under discussion. I was here wondering how with the new media (FB, whatsapp …), the Bajan love of blogging and of speculation, How can a government hide murders?

I will be one of the first to jump on claims of corruption, unfairness, cronyism …. but I will hold back on making some accusations and speak out when I think an accusation or argument is false. Of course, I can be wrong.

    Have a great day Barbados

  12. It is why the authorities are quick to dismiss social media. You have these people who will post unsubstantiated nonsense. Last year everyone was railing about the number of murders, this year so far there is a decline. Accept it for what it is. By the way, we have 9 more months therefore your worse expectation is still possible.

  13. @ David BU

Could you please ‘tell’ me when the responsibility of sharing detailed analysis of crime with the public, shifted from the Barbados Police Force to a political administration?

Police can only give information/statistics on REPORTED CRIME, i.e. crime that is reported to the police.

Some people seem to be suggesting government is ‘covering up’ crime in Barbados to protect the tourism industry and “We Gathering.”

Where is the evidence to prove this and that “most of the violent crime is being covered up?”

Are there any significant differences in the reporting of crime by the media, when compared with prior to May 24, 2018 and thereafter?

If crime is being “covered up,” why is the local media still reporting about incidences of crimes committed against visitors?

  14. @Artax

Let us see what ‘spot on’ sdvises her.

  15. To both of u Artax and David i have made my points clearly along with giving examples to reasons of suspicions thrown against govt explanations
    Deal with them

  16. “Mariposa your (you’re) absolutely right it’s way too quiet here in Barbados.”

    Hmmmm……

Barbados being too quiet, means “crime is being covered up?”

Perhaps you may care to explain.

  17. The blogmaster will exercise his authority here, further comments about murders not being reported must be supported with a reasoned position or will be deleted.

  18. I’m trying to understand something here.

Mari, could you please ‘tell’ BU which member of the current administration gave the public any information relative to the Natalie Crichlow incident?

Unless you’re suggesting the RBPF’s public relations officer is a member of Parliament who speaks on behalf of government and NOT the police.

But, then again, only the intelligent understands your position.

  19. We are often quick to point fingers at the RBPF. We should also give them credit when it appears that their actions have brought about an intended effect.

Wishing the RBPF continued success in the foight against crime.

  20. Sir with all due respect havent u not seen from day one when govt took control of the management of this country. where certain protocols were put in place to control the flow of communication to the public
    My question to u therefore
How can a dead body place itself in a shallow grave whereby the body showed signs of physical trauma
Also how is it possible for a grown person not knowning the difference between a pot of boiling hot water exploding on self and a person trying to kill her
When u can give a rationale and reasonable explanation then on those two deaths then and only then i would take your comments with an understanding of merit

  21. Congratulations RBF 3 months into the year and barbados has five murders
May i say a job well done or illusions of grandeur

  22. The congratulations must first be extended to citizens for exercising restraint.

  23. Some times I get the feeling that some are taking delight in the misery or failures’ of others.

if Mia fails, then the island suffers and or this reason I cannot take any pleasure in her failure. I wish her success and if there are errors in her ways or thinking, I hope that she is able to see and correct them.  Having surrounded herself with a group of yes men, this is unlikely.

I can understand the desire of the other party to have the baton dropped every five or ten years. It is the only avenue to power.  This is one of the reason why the island cannot reach its full potential.

Politicians must get as much as they can as quickly as they can as they fear being a one-timer. Leaving office just as hungry as you come-in will not be seen as a sign of honesty, but more like an act of stupidity. As a result, the nation’s business often take a backseat to self enrichment schemes.

What can we, the electorate, do when the ‘duopoly’ serves us a rogues list of candidates. How can we express our extreme disgust with one party without making the second party believe that we are blind to their humongous warts. How do we let the second party know that 30-0 is not an embrace of them but is a signal of our disgust and total rejection of the other party.  it was supposed to signal our desire for radical changes.

But we sit and watch the first two-years fizzled into nothingness.  Apologists come and boasts of promises kept. But the promises kept are not the changes that are truly needed, they are not the fight against corruption, they are not the passing of integrity legislation, a true rework of our justice system …. Instead we see old corrupt practices packaged in new wine skins and sold to us as progress.

And these third parties have faded into nothingness; withdrawing from the battlefield and seeking to emerge a few months from the next election. Then they cannot understand why the duopoly is the only party that is taken seriously

  24. You know that I have been a fan and supporter even before others came on board.
    .
On my end, I wish to see Barbados progress. I don’t really care if the leader is a B or D. If in my opinion they are failing, I will point it out, but there will be no glee in my voice.
    HAGD

  25. There are cabals, both B and D, who spend every aching moment ascribing every thing bad in the country to one or the other with the objective of positioning the party they support in the best light. Many of us have observed a similar approach in Jamaica and elsewhere. We know the result.

  26. RE: “……….. havent u not seen from day one when govt took control of the management of this country. where certain protocols were put in place to control the flow of communication to the public.”

“My question to you, therefore,” is could please produce the evidence to substantiate your allegations?

If you can’t, then it’ll be dismissed as your usual political rhetoric.

RE: “How can a dead body place itself in a shallow grave whereby the body showed signs of physical trauma.”

If, according to you, “no rationale or reasonable or acceptable explanation (was) given by government” as it relates “to the youth found in the shallow grave in St. Andrew “………

…….. would care EXPLAINING to BU how you KNEW “the body showed signs of physical trauma?”

RE: “Also how is it possible for a grown person not knowning the difference between a pot of boiling hot water exploding on self and a person trying to kill her(?)”

Do you know if the investigation of that incident has been COMPLETED?

  27. Artax typical reponses coming to from u
    Need i say nothing more

  28. How come the Attg.General’s recent musing in the media about lowering the retirement age of members of RBPF to 45 hasn’t generated any comment?

I am going to buy him a searchlight so he can find his way in the dark

  29. Congratulations David you have officially exercise a purpose unknown to yourself but unwise within itself to use the “delete button” moving forward but taking two giant leaps backwards
Congratulations u have been awarded the medal of deceit and deception
Keep the good work up for those you are working for with earnest to work against freedom of speech for all

  30. @Sargeant

Because sensible citizens have received hos utterance as the same old same old vacuous political rhetoric.

  31. The blogmaster will exercise his authority here, further comments about murders not being reported must be supported with a reasoned position or will be deleted.(Quote)

Censorshiip? Whatever happened to free speech?

  32. Steuspe

  33. No!!!!

“TYPICAL RESPONSES coming from YOU when you’re CHALLENGED to PROVE what you present to this forum.

You made several allegations, for which I asked you to present evidence to substantiate them.

Rather than doing so, you resort to retreating…… as is the norm.

I’ll remind you, I’m not going to ‘say’ “spot on,” “you are correct,” or “keep firing,” whenever you come to BU with shiite.

  34. Thank you very much, David, for your fair and balanced presentation of this little issue known as so-called “crime in Barbados”.

While the opposition is raging with fury here, we must keep calm and acknowledge the truth: Barbados is a safe island in an environment of raging native tribes on the surrounding pepper islands. When a tourist in St. Vincent turns his back on a native, he has a knife in his back or a sling around his neck after 10 seconds at the latest. This is the reality.

  35. @ Mariposa

You seem to bring out the animal in some bloggers on BU. If they think you write nonsense, or just do not agree with you, why can’t they just read on. I have had one insane blogger who tried to manufacture an email then claimed it was sent by me. That is not a political difference, it is fraud. I can give other examples, by both males and females..
They seem to object to the fact that in a previous life, if true, you were AC, a DLP fan, all kinds of things as if they matter. I also com in for some stick for supporting you. Instead of ignoring you, they spend all their time Googling and attacking you.
It is amazing how angry some of them get when you do not share their views. It is that nasty, aggressive, sometimes violent Bajan Condition.
As I have said, it brings out the hungry, undomesticated animal in them – savagery. They belong to the jungle..

  36. It was only yesterday you asked about a UK citizen who died from the Coronavirus after returning from a Caribbean cruise. You asked what local authorities have done to investigate the matter as far as how it may impact Barbados. At no time did you share the itinerary of the Caribbean cruise the person was a passenger. More important though, at no time did you share that UK health authorities diagnosed the person contracted the virus after returning from the cruise,

The issue with ac’s postings has nothing to do with moving on if one does not agree, she is fabricating positions and feed the narrative that we have cabals on social media whose objective is to be malicious. Narratives which you, Carl Moore et al support. The blogmaster has always allowed commenters space to make points but get this through your UK assimilated thick Rh skull, the blogmaster will step in when in his opinion some of you mash the crease to protect the quality of the blog.

What a high “ quality” statement. No doubt referring to others as having “ thick RH skulls” shows that the blogmaster will seek only the highest standards.
The blogmaster is clearly demonstrating that cussing people will not be tolerated.
Climb some more….,, climb ……. continue to show us how high quality you are………,,climb some more……..

  40. Mariposa does not manufacture nothing
    Simply speaks from observation
Just because what i observe might be of a difference from others
Not all observations are the same
Reason why we rely on govts to be forthright accountable and openly transparent with the facts
This one side view by some here that if one disagrees with govt explanations one should be label as disingenuous flies in the face of malice and truthfulness of facts whilst founded on a place of dictatorship leanings

  43. The truth must prevail.

The 👍 blogmaster👍would be failing in ‘his duties’ if he allowed outright untruths to be unchallenged and uncensored.

  44. @ William

I debate with equals or up, not down. I expect rational and informed discussion, not just ill-informed nonsense. Apart from getting cheap laughs, the hysterics are the screams from an illiterate.
They still cannot understand that if someone is legal and courteous, there is no need to ban them. That is what Hitler did.
You debate with them, prove them wrong. Who determines what is right or wrong. What was the truth of physics before quantum physics cam along?
    What about Euclidean geometry?

  45. You are a pompous arrogant hypocritical person whose qualities have been exposed over and over on the blog and Facebook.

  46. Further, BU has always encountered comments from the intelligent as well as the dullards. Feel free to drop into the correct bucket lol.

  47. @TheOGazerts

Appreciate you are prepared to demonstrate a level of integrity despite differences of opinion from time to time. This is a reality of our existence.

  48. Wunna can listen… or NOT.

  49. so David what says u
the fact of the matter resolves around a society where unemployment continues to reach uncontrollable levels
boys on the block who are influenced by the glare of easy money and a govt lost and clueless as to what methods need to be imlpemented to slove crime
One day everybody including govt ministers say Hang them high
The next day govt rolls out a plan to turn barbados into a police state
A state of madness and confusion
