Jesus explained that we only have two paths before us, namely, the broad way of irresponsible behaviour that most choose, and the narrow and more challenging way of responsible behaviour.  I believe that when we reach our individual ages of accountability, we are each given 3 virtual bags containing the good deeds, encouraging words and healings that we are to empty before we go to the great beyond.

Every one of us have plenty of opportunities to give out of our bags, but something holds us back.  Something tells us that if we meaningfully help someone else, or say an encouraging word, or speak a blessing, that we would be ridiculed.  Imagine that.  We have been deceived into thinking that being responsible is something to be ashamed of or embarrassed about.

We are to receive no earthly benefit for most of the good things that we do, because we are to do them in secret.  Jesus said that our good deeds must be so private that figuratively, our left hand does not know what our right hand is doing.

During this time of severe austerity in Barbados, we have many opportunities to give out of our bag of good deeds to help those in desperate need.  Let us resist the temptation to selfishly guard our time and other resources for our own use.  It would be tragic, for us, to squander such opportunities.

As we interact with others, we will be tempted to withhold our compliments, advice, and encouragement out of a fear of how they may be received – we may even cringe at the very thought of saying something nice.  How it is received is not our responsibility, emptying that bag is.  Therefore, tell your loved ones that you love them, compliment persons for their efforts, and encourage persons to do what is right.

All three bags are to be emptied together, so we must also empty the contents of that third bag – the blessings.  We will be tempted to avoid blessing others because it may appear awkward if the blessing is not realised.  Again, the result is not our responsibility, emptying the bag is.

I follow my own best advice that I freely give to others, so I am happy and content with reason.  Two days ago, I was thanking God with a heart overflowing with gratitude, while walking towards my car after shopping in Bridgetown on Christmas Eve.  I happily realised that if I could choose any car in the parking lot, that I would honestly choose mine without reservation.

I then realised that if I could choose any house on this planet, that I would happily choose the one we built.  I then reflected further – and gingerly.  I slowly contemplated that if I could choose any woman on this planet, that, after deeper and honest contemplation, and with God, who knows all of my thoughts as my singular witness, I would genuinely choose my wife.  I asked God that I not outlive her, and I have already put my house in order for that eventuality.

I continue to improve myself so that I can better serve others, which is why I am currently pursuing a Doctorate in Engineering in addition to my other duties.  So, I write this blessing to every person who reads this.  May you be empty so that you may be full.

May you prosper financially during this time of severe austerity in Barbados, so that you will have abundance to assist those in desperate need.  May you be in good health and be healed of any and all diseases or ailments, so that your testimony may increase the trust others have in God’s love for them.

May you understand all information that you read, hear and perceive.  May your ability to analyse this information far exceed my own abilities (hence the reason for revealing my studies).  May you be filled with wisdom from above that may be applied to this analysed information so that the productive result will benefit you, your family, and everyone who follows your best advice.  All of this I write in the name of Jesus, our Messiah, the Son of God, Yeshua.

  1. Is there a resolution to the problem as was promised by Mia Amor Mottley ?

‘We feel strongly that if we were to be elected to government tomorrow,Barbadians can have the confidence that within one week we will start to implement a number of plans to address this crisis” .

    A direct quote from Mottley.

She talked about cordoning off the affected areas,

    temporarily closing down food business

Hotel being made to send their guests to other hotels for a short period – before the winter season

    Then she would stop pumping the sewage to the sea;

She would purchase membrane bioreactor units

The stench would be completely eliminated

Should we check all those boxes as a – “PROMISE MADE PROMISE KEPT” sort of thing.

  2. TInniss
Up to now you can’t say why the man is not deserving. In a small country how do you escape proximity to “power/decision-making”? Y’all are politically immature and overall childish. So if one of the PM’s siblings saved 5 tourists/locals from drowning he/she should be denied the Bravery Award? I am surprise all yuh din criticise Mrs.Carrington at Independence. Paul please grow up!!

  3. “By what definition are you using to suggest that it is worse?”

One rooted in fantasy and oppose at all cause syndrome.🤣🤣🤣

  4. Enuff

I did say why I didn’t think he should get the knighthood and why is brother who made a superb contribution to culture was more deserving.

Best wishes for 2019 to you and your family Enuff.

  5. Enuff @ 3:07

    Surely you jest !!!!!!!

  6. “Waru

What was Freundel et al trying to hide re the South Coast sewage mess?”

They tried to downplay it, like if DISEASES FROM POOP…….CAN’T KILL PEOPLE…both local AND tourists alike.

    How quickly you forgot.

Sealy: Nothing Wrong With Worthing Beach

JAMAL WEEKES DECEMBER 8, 2016 BANNER, TOP STORIES

After a quick sea bath at Worthing Beach, Minister of Tourism and International Transport, Richard Sealy, removed the signs which declared the beach closed. (J.Weekes/BGIS)

“There is nothing wrong with Worthing Beach.”

These words of assurance came from Minister of Tourism and International Transport, Richard Sealy, as he spoke to the media this morning after having a routine sea bath at the recently-closed South Coast beach.

According to the Tourism Minister, the beach was safe for Barbadians and visitors alike, and he described the decision by the Environmental Protection Department (EPD) to close it as “an excessively cautious decision”.

After removing the closure signs which were erected by the National Conservation Commission, Mr. Sealy dismissed claims that sewage had leaked into the beach, thereby making it a health hazard to all sea bathers who frequent the area.

The Tourism Minister emphatically stated that this “has never been the case”, and stressed that the water was tested to ensure that it was safe.

“The tests that were done on Monday and Wednesday have proven no unusual levels of bacteria in the beach; the beach was in fact safe all along, [the closure] was just a precaution that was taken,” he explained.

Attributing the recent discolouration to the drainage of the nearby Graeme Hall Swamp, Mr. Sealy stated that there was no need for Barbadians to worry and, in fact, he encouraged locals and visitors alike to come out and enjoy Worthing beach.

Just after the voters of Barbados voted for the BLP to be the Government, with 30 seats , no seat for DLP, you appeared on BU. Mia got you contorting. You must be one of the yard-fowls that returned to Barbados in 2008
,but now 6 months out of a job.

  9. He obviously forgot when Sealy and Boyce jumped into the poop water to show everyone there was no poop and everyone was wishing they would both contract a flesheating bacteria for being THAT DECEITFUL.

  10. WHAT IS THE flesheating bacteria THAT IS FOUND IN POOP?

  11. Did they contract a flesh eating bacteria ? Or was the water safe as the Chief Medical officer had publicly stated.

  12. Is the sewage no longer going into the sea – now that this government is advising tourists the beach is open and it is safe?

Are they not at risk now of flesh eating bacteria ?

All I am seeking to show that there was one narrative for the DEMS when they were in office – and even though the situation remains the same or may even be worse – the negative narrative is not applied or this BLP administration.

  13. @ T Inniss
Did they contract a flesh eating bacteria ?
    +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Have not seen nor heard from them since….
    Have they…?

  14. This joker T Inniss is rambling all over the place .First he claim that ex PM stuart and the Dems did not try to hide up the seriousness of the South Coast problem ,and when shown what was stated by Mr Sealy and Mr Boyce two senior Ministers in the Stuart cabinet now shift focus to the Chief Medical Officer. This J/A seems to suffer with amnesia, and whenever he is caught out telling lies he shifts the argument.I suggest again that both you and Mariposa take a long rest from BU and take along Waru amd the shite conspiracy theorist with you all.The success of this Government going to send you all to the nut house in 2019.despite all your doom and gloom, that is my prediction.

  15. The two DLP Ministers who donned bathing trunks and took baths at Worthing to show it was safe were much lampooned and ridiculed all over social media and the blog. Now this current Gov’t first announced that the beach is open, then they followed up with a caveat “a cautionary zone” and advises that persons shouldn’t venture closer than 300 metres to “diffusers” and provided coordinates to said diffusers.

I am not familiar with either ocean or inshore currents but unless the Gov’t is going to provide daily coliform counts (which it won’t do) I wouldn’t venture into the water at Worthing. For anyone who bathes there look for a corresponding rise in ear and eye infections with accompanying skin rashes.

Don’t say you haven’t been warned.

  16. Lorenzo

Do yourself a favour and stay out of adults discussion.

Stay in yuh cart road fella.

  17. As I will say again – the 2 ministers – Sealy & Boyce – continued daily doing their ministerial duties for months afterwards and we saw no evidence of them falling sick or having been eaten by a flesh eating bacteria. Not so ?

  18. That’s not the point…people were getting ill from exposure to raw sewage on the south coast…it hit tripadvisor in a big way, if you remember.. no one wanted to see 2 bloated government ministers cavorting around in crap water.

  19. T. Inniss dont get yuh self all worn out by these set of blp cackling geese
The facts about the Sewer system would remain the same the toxins which were going into the ocean would resurface in our underground water systems and on our shorelines in different forms of bacteria
Dont even bother answering the politics
Scientific evidence shows that bacteria can grow because of many forms of toxins and the South coast Sewer system is a warehouse packed with toxins if not well controlled and if released in the enviroment can be deadly to all forms of life
If an outside report is done in the swamp and surrounding environs where all the sewage was released there is a high probability that toxic bacteria would be found in the soil and water
However do not expect govt to tell the truth on those findings
Maybe in about another ten to twenty years the truth would be told
I for one would not bathe in any sea water close to Worthing beach including Brownes beach.

  20. Salt will keep away most bacteria, but not a fail safe. … While some of the Vibrio species are halophillic (thrive in high salt concentrations), and thus are even transported in alkaline peptone water or even sea water. While many microorganisms cannot grow in salty environment.

  21. “WHAT IS THE flesheating bacteria THAT IS FOUND IN POOP”

GP….happy holidays,.you know well enough as i posted already that flesh eating bacteria is found in brackish water and can be found at the beach also…at the height of DLP deceit, i posted info on that…you even commented on it,.

  22. Thanks for sharing.

  23. The fact that this govt would open up a beach that is loaded with deadly toxins coming from the Sewer System speaks of a govt who belives that the intelligence of an entire population would become muted and blinkered by politics
The scientific findings on the soil in that area if any were done should have been released to the public
A minister just opening up his mouth and saying that for the good of the economy the Beach is opened and safe is down right insanity
Where are the test results and who did the testing to say that the beach and the soil in safe for people to enter
God more and more each day a country that prides itself on education is becoming a mockstick for all to see.
I dare minister Abraham to drink some of the worthing beach sea water i suggest a large glass to do so

  24. Maybe the BLP brought in a special ocean or inshore current deflector that will modify the flow of ocean currents.

  25. Remember the irregular collection of Garbage under the last administration was criticized by Mottley , her accolytes and those blp agents in the media ?

There was a big song and dance about Public Health threat with garbage piling up.

Is there now no public health threat – now that the situation is even worse – Sometimes garbage go as long as 4 weeks before collection in some areas – so much so that the Child Care board have been doing checks at their day nurseries – because of their fear of illness breaking out among their young charges.

Barbados then – and Barbados now.

Hypocrisy and double standards abound in this place.

  27. “The fact that this govt would open up a beach that is loaded with deadly toxins coming from the Sewer System speaks of a govt who belives that the intelligence of an entire population would become muted and blinkered by politics”

For some reason these “deadly toxins” remain only on Worthing Beach because they need a visa to travel to other beaches. Look I give in and up.

  28. yes yuh need to give up. the subject matter is limited to Worrthing beach and its environs mostly because there is where the damage is being done and associated i also stated that i would not swim in brownes beach

  29. I notice you’re an expert on every topic, so much so that even when a comment is not directed at you, you jump in the ring. Given that you read to respond rather than read to understand, I am not surprise. I will leave you and your expertise in deadly toxins.

  30. T Inniss you are to predictable and pathetic to even merit a reponse.Persons on this blog have proven you to be a liar, and all you do is try to shift, take my advice do some research before opening your Dem yardfowl mouth,or soon from now you will be exposed as a liar yet again. All of a sudden since May 24th you are an expert in everything under the sun, pity you did not give this expert advice to the Dems prior to May 24th,maybe we would not have had 23 downgrades under the in my view worst Minister of Finance, and PM.However I am predicting like the shite conspiracy theorist that in 2019 we will rise again, despite you all wishing for the worst for the country. On a final note to you T Inniss you are a lightweight, therefore it is you who need to stay at your limited level, because you clearing suffering from amnesia.

  35. @T.Inniss December 30, 2018 7:27 AM “that there would be an influx of Haitians refugees coming to these shores.”

These people are not refugees. They are economic migrants not too different from me, my siblings, my father, my children, my great uncles etc. who have at one time or another over the last 100 years sought economic opportunities elsewhere in the Americas, Europe and the Middle East.

These Haitian migrants are no different from thousands of Bajans who once they got a multiple indefinite visa from the U.S. Embassy, and a 6 month stamp at the U.S. border went to the U.S. not for a holiday but to seek economic opportunities. Some did a little underground work thing for a few months, some sought out further opportunities for later, some fell in love with an American, married and stayed.

Human beings migrate. That is what WE human beings do. Human beings seek better opportunities. That is what WE human beings do.

But of course there is always some nasty money grubber seeking to take advantage of people’s desire to do better. The Haitians have said that their own people in Haiti have misled them. I would not be at all surprised if the money grubber in Haiti has a money grubbing Bajan co-conspiritor.

  36. https://www.unhcr.org/what-is-a-refugee.html
    What is a refugee?

Refugees are people who have fled war, violence, conflict or persecution and have crossed an international border to find safety in another country.

They often have had to flee with little more than the clothes on their back, leaving behind homes, possessions, jobs and loved ones.

Refugees are defined and protected in international law. The 1951 Refugee Convention is a key legal document and defines a refugee as:

“someone who is unable or unwilling to return to their country of origin owing to a well-founded fear of being persecuted for reasons of race, religion, nationality, membership of a particular social group, or political opinion.”

By the end of 2017, there were 25.4 million refugee men, women and children registered across the world.

  37. @T.Inniss December 30, 2018 7:27 AM “Haitians are turning up wihout money, can’t speak English and depending on the largesse of the Barbadian public…because I don’t understand why this government has to purchase return tickets for them. – and get accommodation – which the Salvation Army has offered to provide.”

Even though I am not a member of the Salvation Army I have been donating to them for decades and I plan to do so for the rest of my life. Always happy to do so.

You T.Inniss should do so too.

  38. Matthew 25:40-45 King James Version (KJV)
And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.

Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:

For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink:

I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not.

Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee?

Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me.

  39. Mariposa – I was not referring to this instant mi dear. I meant in general.

  40. @T.Inniss December 30, 2018 8:41 AM “Owen wouldn’t talk…But he did in his own way – more than once -tried to warn us”

    Nonsense.

Owen had the FULL IMMUNITY of Parliament to talk ‘e talk. The fact that he did not talk tells me that he had nothing of consequence to say.

  41. And I love Owen. i have this weird fondness for short men.

    Lolll!!!

  42. Ammm Simple Simon i challenged u to volunteer room and board along with food and clothing for the Hatians now being accommodated at the Salvation army

  48. Reading the background of the late legal luminary – Guyanese born Sir Fenton Ramsohoye who died in Barbados – his country of residence – last week – I noted the vast breadth of important cases he dealth with.

Cases like the Judges Wife which dealt with the right of the media to report on matters affecting the public interest.

He argued many cases before the Privy Council – and was successful in many.

Now that is the caliber of persons who when you talk about giving them a knighthood for their contribution in the legal field – you could understand it – and not somebody who all they really did was made money off people and because more importantly – their child is the Prime Minister. .

Or a person who was not known to be heavily involved in doing pro bono legal work for the poor and would never deign to come on a forum like this as our esteemed brother Jeff Cumberbatch does to interact with the masses to discuss matters of law.

Regionally almost every Law Association in every island would be able to recognize the name of Fenton Ramsahoye and the impact he had in the legal field – far and wide.

That he and his other country man Sir Shridat Ramphal chose Barbados to end their days – speaks volumes about our little isle.

Sir Fenton Ransohoye – those were the days when you could easily understand and appreciate why some persons received a knighthood – these days ……….. steupes.

The watering down of the knighthood really became obscene under Owen Arthur – and continued through all other administrations since.

This is a real mediocre society anyway – when I think about persons like Allan Field getting a knighthood under Owen and Maurice King getting one under the Dems – and a lot more other names like that. Wuhloss.

Haloute – imagine he getting a knighthood – and he does not even have the entrepreunerial fortitude to try like the Goddards Group and Kyffin Simpson – to earn some foreign exchange for this country by opening branches elsewhere in the region.

    SICKENING.

Soon they might have to describe these awards as ‘Shitehoods’ and not ‘Knighthoods’.

Once I see you heading down this road, I know things bad.
    No, No, No.
The onus is upon those conferring the honour to highlight the contributions, which are being recognized. Period.
Is Barbados, the country conferring the knighthood, doing so for work in Bermuda, Belize, Caymans, Turks and a little in Barbados too. Or for the leverage used in the BLP leadership battles.
Seems like another Marston Gibson were a Bajan leaves home and spends much of their career working elsewhere, only to return home and be knighted.
To me, if the PM had an ounce of moral decency, she would avoid selecting her father at all costs, especially in the first few opportunities she gets to bestow such an honour. What’s the rush? Is the man ill?
