You said something that the ole man could not ignore even while congratulating Mr. Franklyn

“…Funny how BU appears to be influencing events in Barbados…”

The fact is that BU does attract many people but as you have pointed out it is the impact that it has and that is why it is feared the most

The newcomers take a while to understand who to read and who to scroll past – de ole man and Mariposa

What remains to be seen is what is going to happen to the Rum Shop danduring ghe coming dispensation

Will its keyboard warriors rise to greater things or shall some law e employed to destroy the freedom of expression it has promoted these 10 years past?

  2. CONGRATULATIONS Caswell, You have been prepared and is worthy for the task at hand.

  3. We have now a senator who names specific persons and describes corruption in detail –
and the DPP is sleeping, being in old plantation mode.

If the DPP goes on like this, the Babbster must be fired for obstruction of justice. I am really serious on this matter.

if there is one good thing emerging from our constitutional aberration as a result of the overwhelming mandate given to the BLP by the electorate is the opportunity given for the voice of the knowlegable and independed minded Brother Caswell Frankeynote to be heard at a higher level in the public affairs of this country.
I wish Bro Caswell well and am sure that he will be a worthy representative for the people of Barbados. I have known him all my life and say what you like about him; he is not tainted and cannot be bought
God does move in mysterious ways.

Not necessary, as long as the narrative re exposing malfeasance of governance, corruption and violations of human rights against the majority population have already been addressed and identified as the drivers of the blogs, which have critically and successfully done its job for a decade……and is being recognized that the blog narrative can be successfully changed as is now the intent, the only thing left for the blogs to do is:

    … make suggestions to prompt further positive change in governance abd make sure the constitution is used as intended ehen governments seek to ignore the plight of the people because of the dasdardly actions of ministers PMs etc…;

    …, educate the citizenry about their rights;

    upgrade the citizen’s knowledge of the constitution and any new amendments and meaning which impact their lives;

…. point out to government and opposition when they are wrong. .

…….educate this and future generations going forward and help them build a society that has the tools to continue self determination for the majority population,..

It will be nothing as radical as has obtained in the last 10 years…and of course it will eliminate the need for Enuff to jump on BU every day crying “lawsuit, lawsuit”….lol

All his lawsuit cries will only be redirected to his better half….Vivek..lol

The new political parties, particularly those with their fantasies to destroy and those who are showing themselves to be clueless of the contents of the constitution must always be watched in case they manage to weasel into parliament.

It has been a successful run for BU..the only task left is to maintain…and keep yardfowls defanged and unable to create further mischief and destruction..

Sore losers and sour grapes drippers..lol

They are all on permanent, unpaid vacation, the yardfowl element….who would have thunk it, what a difference in politics one week makes.

Piece….pity so much taxpayer’s dollars was wasted to educate fools for all these decades.

…I see the conception/inception of the 1966 UK parliament created constitution as limes still…but what lovely lemonade it could make, if only all these “educated” people over the decades had the level of commonsense combined with intelligence and consciousness to see from where we are sitting.

Forgot to mention that it is extremely critical that the supreme court be fixed as soon as possible, whatever it takes to rein in destructive lawyers and insurance companies to remove the backlog permanently from it’s jurisdiction is necessary….and vital to its function.

…a move from Whitepark Road to Greenhill or District D or B should not slow down the AG from putting systems in place to remove and/or discipline the destructive elements who destroyed the court process….there is no excuse..

It is particularly repugnant that the rights of the eldetly have been ignored for decades and that repulsive attitude, particularly in the Court system and the wider society must end..

….I did not even know the island was signatory to the San Jose Charter on the Rights of the Elderly until one year ago and was patiently waiting to see it used as a test case against the criminals for lawyers and insurance companies who abuse the elderly 60 years and up….and then wait for them to die.

There is also no excuse to continue ignoring and not enforcing the various treaties and charters to which Barbados is signatory..

AG Marshall got a lot of work to do to keep the blogs satisfied…he better start right away…, he has a golden opportunity.

“Legalising cannabis ‘could earn Treasury £3.5bn’
Report suggests change to law would generate revenue and cut costs across justice system

    Jamie Doward

Sat 2 Jun 2018 21.30 BST Last modified on Sun 3 Jun 2018 08.40 BST
Introducing a legal cannabis market to the UK could earn the Treasury between £1bn and £3.5bn a year in tax revenues, a report has suggested.

Health Poverty Action, an international development organisation, claims that regulating and legalising cannabis in the UK is an “idea whose time has come” and that the windfall could be used to plug the gap in the NHS budget.

“Prohibition has failed,” said the group’s advocacy officer, Natasha Horsfield. “From our perspective, it’s about regulating the market to improve public health outcomes and create a safer environment. But we can see the potential benefits from a taxation perspective if we were to regulate it.”

  10. Why dont you realised that once the IMF becomes the mangers of the barbados economy . The mandate of the people becomes weakened
Barbadians cannot have their cake and eat it too.
All this hoopla about congratulations means nothing in the long-term. Barbados electorate said they want change
They got change along with a new managerial board whose job is to collect a debt .
I see nothing here to celebrate. In fact Caswell voice would be heard but would be of little influence over time.

  11. Mariposa,

You are right. There are other potential problems: if external creditors, excluding China, sell on their debt to hedge funds, who then seek redress in US courts, past history tells us that the outcome could be even more serious. Ask Argentina about how their naval ship got seized. I wrote about this at the time and was horrified by the long-arm of US law. Restructuring debt is not as easy as it once was.
I ask again, who is providing economic advice to this government?

  12. Well Well & Cut N' Paste At Your Service Avatar
Well Well & Cut N’ Paste At Your Service

Oh please an intelligent government would negotiate a SHORT TERM…arrangement with IMF…just like all the other islands did…

Now we know why the exgovernment did not…to their own demise..

    Just to be clear:

The constitution is emphatically and explicitly clear about the need to observe human rights, written in its decades old version and then in its more modern and current amended versions TO OBSERVE AND ENFORCE ALL..treaties, charters and human rights protocols to which thd island IS or BECOMES signatory. ..my words but equally as forceful as what the constitution contains…

So it is still a mystery why ALL governments up to the recently exiled exgovernment CHOSE to wilfully and deliberately ignore the constitutional rights of the majority population.

  13. I have tried posting a link several which details the realities of the IMF managing and control the high debt of third world countries and its devastating impact

  15. Congratulations. I wish you well. I hope you do a great job. Stay honest, focused and real.

  16. Once a country ties its hands to the IMF debt resurrecting program there is no turning back. The people voice becomes limited the reality is who calling the shots is not determined at the polls but determined in written and signed agreements by the elected govt even if or when a new govt becomes in power
There is no generosity given to countries who enter an IMF program ground rules given and accepted must be met
There is nothing here or anybody to congratulate because their is a new sheriff in town and there rules would be set in stone .
Yes there would be hooting and hollering when the medicine is applied but what done is done and there will be no turning back
In the long run the past govt measures would be seen as a sunday school pinic

But David you ought to be ashamed of yourself by hiding relevant information that gives a realistic view on how the managing policies of the IMF affects third world countries
Keeping peoples eyes close to differening opinion is a pathway to creating a dictatorship

  18. ‘What you really need, is to sit down with them [the International Monetary Fund], and say: “Look, can I work out a five-year programme? And in the meantime, I’m strapped for some cash, so you can help me upfront get out of the cash bind and then put in the context of a long-term development plan. And they say: “No, long-term development is your problem. We are here only to see who’d you owe the money to; why you’re in a bind; and, we lend you some money in a very short timeframe, at full interest rate to get you out of the bind.” And they then impose upon you tremendous restrictions in what you can spend. And you say to them: “But, if I do it that way, when I finish repaying you, I’m gonna be in the bind all over.” Because they can’t solve my problem. They said: “Not our problem”.’

  24. Jan 11, 2016 – The International Monetary Fund was established in 1945. …. According to Dearden, Jamaica has repaid more money than it has … This is due to the interest provided with the loans they have been given. At the time of his article, the island had been lent $18.5 billion while paying back $19.8 billion in return.
Let the realities sink in the congratulations can be served if a ob is well done

  26. I don’t agree with your position @ 8:52 a.m. on Mariposa – an obvious DLP supporter.

I thought you were a bigger man or woman than that.

I can understand you being diametrically opposed to Mariposa’s view but surely that is what democracy and free speech promote.

Sure she may get you vex at times but if the blog is for everyone why keep singling out Mariposa,Fractured blp or pointing out that its is ‘Waiting in vain’ posting in another name?

I see no such anger directed at those BLP posters who can be downright offensive, vulgar and repetitive..

I am really hoping that on this blog we will all endeavor to get along and live and let live.

Having observed this blog for a while I have noticed that if you are not a strong person you will eventually become sheep and fall in line with the blp thinking of the likes of Prodigal,Miller,Enuff,Watchman,Are We There Yet,Tron, etc etc. This is evident when I read the postings of some familiar names who used to wield their instrument from left to right without any excuses – now all of them are trotting out the same tired old speech of the blpites.

Your response to this post which is given purely as an alternative view will be very instructive.

  27. Ok so i supposed Caswell voice would give prominence to the workers
Yeah sound all well and good except his condemnations and negative mouthings drawn upon promises to the workers not delivered by Mia can exaggerate the debt problem tremendously as Mia seeking resolution most likely would seek additional funding from her new managers the IMF who in turn would be the final arbitrators
We do have a problem of debt accumulation which must be solved and the unions demands cannot help to turn the tide of debt resolution if Mia is forced to seek funding from international financial institutions to pay wages and salaries
Interesting times ahead.Franklin would soon find out the hard way where and who is carrying the big stick

Don’t we all know of Jamaica’s foray to IMF and the many others.

You sat in London and like the rest of us was captivated by Argentina taking on England in the Falklands war…all very awesome…then the Belgrano was sunk. Just like how their economy sunk leading to difficult times after IMF intervention .

Unlike you and the DLP sychphant most here are not so …whacked to think anyone is fooled of an easy way out from our sunk situation requiring the painful IMF conditions they impose to initiate any refloating.

  30. T .Innis!…. do not sweat your head over David assine response to Mariposa.
He has now found himself tied to unbelievable austerity plans after ten years of castigating past govt for less similarties. The reality of the path wherby Mia is taking barbados would be long and harsh and there is no turning back.Every and all social policies which were implemented under the dlp govt would be under attack when all else fails to bring the balloning debt under control
All the hooting and hollering would make litttle diffference as the end game by the IMF would be to pay off barbados debt owed to financial institutions
David now is becoming a tin horn dictator of the blog in his effort to protect Mia from opposing views
    Not unexpectedly

  31. T. Innis speak your speak you would be called a jacka.ss ten times over
The fact remains that David wants to engage a narrative with a formula that speaks to ten years of corruption which cannot be proven. Spending and govt increasing debt without detailing the whys and how.
History has a way of correcting and putting everything into it right context
In a true historical perspective it would show that barbados was in a slippery slope of uncontrollable debt management before ten years ago

  32. @ T.Inniss

The Watchman did welcome you to BU, and also suggested your expressed shocking views should be highlighted on FB since you seek agreement for your opinions

  33. Eliminate public service jobs gained by political means or where the job is used as a 2-4 hour break
Collect overdue taxes of all types and other amounts owed to Barbados Government
Recover all amounts taken from Government by illegal means
Recover foreign currency held in unauthorized overseas accounts
Reduce the public service through privatization
Enforce the laws of the Country

  34. You are fee to disagree with the blogmaster as you have done. What the blogmaster will not tolerate 24/7 is dishonesty and maliciousness from ac or anyone ac, mariposa and all the names she goes by is a JA and a yardfowl. You should not forget the issue at hand: it is that she posted a few comments with links which went to Spam and instead of being courteous and ask the blogmaster to make a check she proceeded to bray about freedom of expression being curtailed, tom dick and yardfowls are allowed to post on BU within reason, the record is there. The blogmaster will not let some JA to harp incessantly dishonestly that commeters are not free to express themselves here. There is a reason we dont want ONE commenter using MULTIPLE monikers sometimes on the same Rh blog.

Do you know a couple of weeks ago the blogaster visited a facebook livestream and posted a few questions about policy of the government, then minister ronald jones started to engage and she and a few others who were quick to ridicule the blogmaster- go back to your cave etc.

    Stay in the lane!

  35. David you are being disingenuous. There are blp yardfowls who have changed monikers many times and you have never called them out.

I am indeed humbled by the outpouring of goodwill that I have received since the announcement of my appointment as Senator. I realise that much is expected of me and I will endeavour not to disappoint.

Rest assured that I will continue as I am. I see this appointment as giving me another avenue to serve the people of this country.

  37. Trying three times to post a link and never once it has been posted sends a message
    You go figure David. Huh

  38. Sincere congratulations to Caswell Franklyn.

  39. I believe Caswell’s appointment as a Senator is an excellent choice, especially if he can be a member of the Public Accounts Committee.

After reading about these last minute deals and “anomalies” by the former Stuart administration, it would be a travesty to have any member of the DLP in parliament to “investigate” the public accounts of that administration.

I also believe Caswell is an excellent choice and will perform an excellent job.

My nest pick for Senator would be Lynette Eastmond because she will bring a new perspective to the House.

  40. Time would soon tell how sincere these congratulations by the blp yardfowls are heartfelt and meaningful as soon as Caswell attack the blp policies and there draconian plans which would mean job losses and cut in wages for the civil workers

  41. Mariposa please feel free to accept or disregard my humble advice. When your post does not appear immediately just kindly ask the blogmaster to check for and release your post from spam.

  42. Perhaps the BLP yard-fowls will respond similarly to how the DLP yard-fowls responded when “Caswell attacked the DLP policies and their draconian plans which would mean job losses and cut in wages for the civil workers.”

And if it’s anything similar to the enormous contempt for Caswell that you, Fcuktured BLP and the other DLP yard-fowls have shown in this and other forums……..

“Rest assured that I will continue as I am. I see this appointment as giving me another avenue to serve the people of this country.”

One way, Senator Franklyn, that you can loyally serve the people is to try to lighten the financial burden of trying to get Barbados out of the economic quagmire it now finds itself.

That can be achieved by demanding the new government uses its current ‘popularity’ to set up an intellectually well-equipped investigative body to try to recover some of the many millions of taxpayers’ hard-earned money siphoned from the Treasury via the fatted calf trough.

There are many committed and deeply concerned professionally–suited individuals who might be prepared to serve on this body on a voluntary or gratis basis.

We just cannot standby and see our country raped so blatantly and not do something about it even if some form of financial restitution is the only option available.

Let us start with the ‘known’ suspects whose shenanigans have been discussed on BU.

Let that investigative body be charged with the authority to look into the final treatment of that $1.5 million paid by the BWA to one Hal G for a simple straight forward procedure which any final year law student could have completed “before the cat could lick his ears”.

We will be watching this Mottley’s administration in the same way Nazi Hunter Simon Wiesenthal tracked down the players in the Holocaust.
