As shocking as the title of this article is, it is nothing but the truth; the two sided truth. First of all, on October 10, 2017, the Cabinet of the Government of Barbados discussed the use of RH anti- littering signs at bus stops and reached a decision that the signage was offensive and were to be removed. The Minister of Transport duly informed the Board of Management which hastily enforced the decision to remove the signs. The signs were an opportunity to emphatically create awareness of littering on the island as the letters had resonated to become a powerful marketing tool.

Prior to this decision reaching the public domain, and the signage at the bus stops being removed, on **, the Barbados Underground ran the most successful marketing campaign in the history of Barbados, with an article under the title Remove This RH Sign โ€“ Chinese Sign Greets Visitors to Sam Lordโ€™s Castle in Barbados and signage in Chinese at the construction site of the Sam Lords Castle, was removed in less than 24 hours.

Now that governments decision is now in the public domain, one has to wonder of its intent. The abbreviation can be interpreted to mean the most unique Barbadian words on the planet. It is quite strange that they had only then realized that those words which were mostly likely in existence since the day of slavery were offensive enough to merit a discussion in Parliament. They came to power found those words and will no doubt leave office and those words will still in be existence in Barbados until perpetuity because they are already ingrained in the Barbadian psyche. That being the case government banning the signs was just a time wasting exercise.

Secondly, in terms of what is found to be offensive, the people of Barbados have to date gathered a litany of acts this administration has committed that they deem offensive, yet, the government has not issued directives for remedies. The acts are wide and varied and need not not be mentioned in this article. When one considers that the Minister who has responsibility for Transportation sat in that Cabinet meeting and did not have the same sense of urgency to fix the ton of problems that the Transport Board faces one finds his failure to act offensive.

The Board does not have enough buses to supply a reliable service to the public. The current fleet of buses is aging and in a state of despair not even fit to be on the roads. They are leaky, with torn seating and constantly break down for repairs. There has been misuse of funds and staff under duress caused by poor working condition. There was a recent island wide strike by the bus operators. Then there is the deplorable state of the roads which are filled with pot holes and even the provision of a road for the people of White Hall facilitating their commute to and from work. One can therefore be at a loss that of all the things that are on his plate seeking urgent action, that the Minister responsible for Transport had the audacity and the time to take action to remove signs from 3 bus stops. It is indeed a sign of the RH times.

FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO SERIOUS ABOUT THE MESSAGE OF THE ANTI-LITTERING CAMPAIGN, BUMPER STICKERS CAN BE OBTAINED BY SUBMITTING YOUR NAME AND MAILING ADDRESS TO “ADOPT A STOP” BY IN-BOXING THEM ON FACEBOOK.

  1. @ Sargeant,

it was likely politically orchestrated but google the lady’s name and you will find a bariffle of information.

You can run but you cannot hide in this internet age.

  2. The real story here are the blp mcguffies who created a fake story . A story with a picture of a house which stated that MOF was the owner .All other stories concerning the woman livelihood etc does not erase the fact that the BLP has stooped to the bottom of the barrel that is filled with lies deceit and Fake story
Now the BLP operatives are trying damage control pulling out all stops to disparage the lady reputation, After all the BLP operatives has as many character flaws as the same woman and should be mindful of the fact that people who lives in glass houses should not throw stones
The Fake news story would come back to bite MIa in the arss and not the owner of the house as she has nothing to lose in Barbados election.

I believe based on choice and convenience, itโ€™s both.

By accumulating debt to CBC in the amount of $109,609, the shameless DLP is purposely and conveniently cheap and broke.

However, they prefer to prioritize by โ€œwith-holdingโ€ funds from state-owned agencies and spend millions of dollars funding their election campaigns, as was seen in the 2008 and 2013 general elections.

It died when the CLICO head crook and miscreant cocked up and died in office.
Since then, they have been polluting the rest of Barbados with their decaying carcass

Are anti-developmental or at least anathema thereto.

  18. @ Pacha
in a mature society, some wise old heads would sit down together and plan a nice decent funeral…. with military precision and pomp.
The dead would be buried post haste, and then sensible steps would be put in place to install a youthful, alive, caring and HONEST new body politic to take the country forward.

Ours is not a mature society.

Our ‘old wise heads’ are all a bunch of decaying, decrepit, failures themselves – with untold skeletons in their own closets – to the extent that even when they DARE to come forward with good ideas now (in the interests of their loved grand children) they are disrespected and ignored….

Imagine in the face of all this nonsense, a whole bunch of idiotic ‘third parties’ cannot get themselves TOGETHER in the national interest, to form a united front….

Imagine we can have someone so CLEARLY demented as a PM, ..and as fine ants minister …. for almost a whole DECADE…. continuously degrading, devaluing, down-grading and destroying a WHOLE country….. and all we have is shiite talk … no ACTION.

How low can a country fall? … check Barbados.

The only thing worse that failure itself, is the total abject lack of ANY efforts to address clear and obviously imminent destruction….as we have seen in Barbados over the past five years especially.

Even in Zimbabwe, the damn Army eventually stood up and acted….
We can only hope that a country does NOT always get exactly what it deserves….

There can be no moral equivalence when it comes to Mugabe in comparison to other leaders or countries. Simply because โ€œwhite lord baronsโ€ may have done more harm to other countries or people does not exonerate Mugabe from guilt of what has befallen Zimbabwe. 43. Call me stubborn but how can someone so highly involved in the Clico scandal have been hiding in broad daylight in Barbados, owning property and no one in the public knew? Who knew? How could an unacceptable level of discovery been under taken by the judicial manager as this person was never summoned? She must have known Leroy Parris who is friends with the MOF and the PM. How was the PM going to turn up at her house for a photo op along with the media? And, the house which she claims is not for sale is still listed for sale pictures and all.

  44. @ Heather

Karen-Ann Gardier was a described by the media as a โ€œtop CLICO executive,โ€ and at some point in time she would have mingled with Leroy Parris.

Having lived in Barbados, according to her, from 2009, she would have obviously followed the developments leading up to CLICO Barbados being placed under judicial management and the subsequent Deloitte forensic audit of that insurance companyโ€™s financial activities.

It is not a closely guarded secret that Leroy Parris is closely associated with the Democratic Labour Party. After all, the first order of business after the 2008 general election was Thompson using CLICOโ€™s private jet to travel to various Caribbean islandsโ€ฆโ€ฆโ€ฆโ€ฆ and appointing Parris as Chairman of CBC.

On numerous occasions, there were photographs, in the print media, showing Leroy Parris in the company of DLP politicians at certain events, including Sinckler.

Just prior to the 2008, a court marshal called Drakes had a warrant of arrest for one of your current ministers, who failed to pay maintenance for his children. Also, bailiffs took up the same personโ€™s car for failure to make the payments. You should be aware of that since the party had to provide him with a car during the campaign.

According to David, another one was not making enough to pay the rent for his business, as the reason for making him a minister.

Yet another resorted to asking a person, who he fired years earlier, for work because his business was not seeing many paying customers.
