โ€œIn short, his wits being quite gone, he hit upon the strangest notion that every madman in this world hit upon, and that was that he fancied it was right and requisite, as well for the support of his own honour as for the service of his country, that he should make a knight-errant of himself, roaming the world over in full armour and on horseback in quest of adventures, and putting in practice himself all that he had read of as being the usual practices of knights-errant; righting every kind of wrong, and exposing himself to peril and danger from which, in the issue, he was to reap eternal renown and fame. Already the poor man saw himself crowned by the might of his arm Emperor of Trebizond at least; and so, led away by the intense enjoyment he found in these pleasant fancies, he set himself forthwith to put his scheme into executionโ€ฆโ€ โ€“Don Quixote โ€“ Miguel de Cervantes

As many others, including apparently the majority of the voters in the United States, I do not care much for the politics of the current president of the United States, Mr Donald Trump. Having myself survived exposure to the nightmare scenario of his Electoral College triumph last November, nothing he has done since persuades me that he is not the narcissistic, temperamental misogynist that he projected himself to be during the campaign to citizens of the United States who, albeit, by fortuitous electoral distribution and for their various personal reasons, did not care enough about these flaws and so elected him to the high office of POTUS, as it is so charmingly referred to.

Most of my readers will be familiar with the epithet โ€œquixoticโ€. It describes, according to one source, behaviour that is foolishly impractical especially in the pursuit of ideals and marked by rash, lofty, romantic ideas. The word derives from the character created in 1605 by Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra in his novel, โ€œThe History of the valorous and wittie (sic) Knight Errant Don Quixote of La Manchaโ€, to give its full title. There has been a number of musical and film adaptations since, including the 1992 โ€œMan of La Manchaโ€, featuring the popular hit, โ€œTo dream the impossible dreamโ€.

Constraints of space do not permit a fuller discussion today of the adventures of the title character, but the epigraph above offers some information as to the anatomy of his pursuits.

The connection that I seek to make between Don Quixote and Mr Trump lies in the erratic, nay, quixotic nature of the behaviour of each of these individuals. For instance, perhaps the best known escapade of Don Quixote is tilting at windmills, an expression that has found its way into the lexicon as a metaphor for inutility and one that is ideally likened to Mr Trumpโ€™s attempts to exclude Mexicans and some Muslims so that America will be โ€œgreatโ€ again, whatever that coded expression might mean.

โ€œAt this point they came in sight of thirty or forty windmills that there are on a plain, and as soon as Don Quixote saw them he said to his squire, “Fortune is arranging matters for us better than we could have shaped our desires ourselves, for look there, friend Sancho Panza, where thirty or more monstrous giants present themselves, all of whom I mean to engage in battle and slay, and with whose spoils we shall begin to make our fortunes; for this is righteous warfare, and it is God’s good service to sweep so evil a breed from off the face of the earth.”

“What giants?” said Sancho Panza.

“Those thou seest there,” answered his master, “with the long arms, and some have them nearly two leagues long.”

“Look, your worship,” said Sancho; “what we see there are not giants but windmills, and what seem to be their arms are the sails that turned by the wind make the millstone go.”

“It is easy to see,” replied Don Quixote, “that thou art not used to this business of adventures; those are giants; and if thou art afraid, away with thee out of this and betake thyself to prayer while I engage them in fierce and unequal combat.”

The analogy is satisfied even further whether we consider Sancho Panza to be Mr Mike Pence, the Vice-President, Ms Kellyanne Conway with her โ€œalternative factsโ€, or Mr Steve Bannon with his antediluvian views on difference and press freedom; and Mr Trumpโ€™s choice weapons of war not to be the lance and shield but his penchant for executive orders and late-night-to-early-morning tweets.

None of this is to ignore the fact that for some unarticulated reasons perhaps best known to them, there are those who support Mr Trump. I will not hazard a guess as to their reasons, although I am prepared to concede that they are certainly entitled to their opinions.

Nonetheless, his obsession with being perceived as the smartest and the most popular incumbent ever, as well as his seemingly facile ignorance of the basic principles of US constitutionalism that he swore to uphold less than a month ago, together with his propensity to speak in superlatives all mark him out as nothing less thanโ€ฆquixotic.

Indeed, Mr Trumpโ€™s relationship with matters legal so far has been less than auspicious. First, he chose to dismiss, as was his prerogative, the substantive Attorney General for demurring to a patently discriminatory embargo on certain individuals, even as his proposed replacement awaits Senate confirmation, thus leaving a gap in the governance architecture that would be constitutionally repugnant in most other jurisdictions. Second, he nominates a predictable replacement for Justice Scalia on the Supreme Court; one who, unsurprisingly, comes mouthing the same tired conservative claptrap about the Constitution having a settled meaning, as if time has stood still since the time of Jefferson and the others in the 18th century.

This jurisprudential perception is indeed instructive in the current context, for the original Constitutional text in the US regarded certain individuals, definable by a common characteristic, as being less than whole human beings. Too besides, it is at least passing strange that this soโ€“called โ€œrightโ€ meaning seems always to accord with conservative points of view, while those opinions that endorse such progressive values as the autonomy of women and others to guard their privacy are considered matters of regrettable and unconstitutional judicial activism.

The following piece is apposite:

Almost immediately after, Don Quixote runs into some merchants whom he challenges to admit that his lady, Dulcinea, is the most beautiful damsel in the world. Not sure where the situation is leading, they address him as โ€œSir Knightโ€ but anger him by some facetious comments regarding Dulcineaโ€™s beauty. On hearing these remarks, Don Quixote charges but unfortunately Rocinante slips and our knight ends up beaten by a muleteer. What might be construed as a setback for Don Quixote is easily explained: it was Rocinanteโ€™s fault.ย  But equally important (to him) is the fact that the merchants addressed Don Quixote in chivalric terms.

Knowledge is power…black people shoukdcstart seeking knowledge of their true history.

A DNA test on an American hoping to trace his family tree has come up with a stunning result – the roots of the human tree date back much further than previously thought.
Researchers were shocked when they analysed the DNA of Albert Perry, a recently deceased African-American from South Carolina.

‘This lineage diverged from previously known Y chromosomes about 338,000 years ago, a time when anatomically modern humans had not yet evolved,’ said Michael Hammer of the University of Arizona.
Y me? X chromosome (left) and the much smaller Y chromosome, which determines male sex
Y me? X chromosome (left) and the much smaller Y chromosome, which determines male sex
    Y IS IT IMPORTANT?

Unlike the other human chromosomes, the majority of the Y chromosome does not exchange genetic material with other chromosomes, which makes it simpler to trace ancestral relationships among contemporary lineages.

If two Y chromosomes carry the same mutation, it is because they share a common paternal ancestor at some point in the past.
The more mutations that differ between two Y chromosomes the farther back in time the common ancestor lived.

‘This pushes back the time the last common Y chromosome ancestor lived by almost 70 percent.’
This time predates the age of the oldest known anatomically modern human fossils.
The fossil record dates back about 200,000 years, said Hammer.

Either interbreeding with Neanderthals or other populations led to the unusual genetic makeup, he said, or humans evolved far earlier than the extant fossil record suggests.

The new divergent lineage – which was found when Mr Perry contacted Family Tree DNA, a company specializing in DNA analysis to trace family roots – branched from the Y chromosome tree before the first appearance of anatomically modern humans in the fossil record.

Unlike the other human chromosomes, the majority of the Y chromosome does not exchange genetic material with other chromosomes, which makes it simpler to trace ancestral relationships among contemporary lineages.

The more mutations that differ between two Y chromosomes the farther back in time the common ancestor lived.

The results are published in the American Journal of Human Genetics.
Originally, Mr Perry’s DNA sample was submitted to the National Geographic Genographic Project.
    ..

When none of the genetic markers used to assign lineages to known Y chromosome groupings was found, the DNA sample was sent to Family Tree DNA for sequencing.
Fernando Mendez, a postdoctoral researcher in Hammer’s lab, led the effort to analyze the DNA sequence, which included more than 240,000 base pairs of the Y chromosome.
The team found a similar chromosome in the Mbo, a population living in a tiny area of western Cameroon in sub-Saharan Africa

Hammer said: ‘The most striking feature of this research is that a consumer genetic testing company identified a lineage that didn’t fit anywhere on the existing Y chromosome tree, even though the tree had been constructed based on perhaps a half-million individuals or more.
‘Nobody expected to find anything like this.’

About 300,000 years ago Neanderthals are believed to have split from the ancestral human lineage.
It was not until more than 100,000 years later that anatomically modern humans appear in the fossil record.

They differ from the more archaic forms by a more lightly built skeleton, a smaller face tucked under a high forehead, the absence of a cranial ridge and smaller chins.
Hammer said the newly discovered Y chromosome variation is extremely rare.

Through large database searches, his team eventually was able to find a similar chromosome in the Mbo, a population living in a tiny area of western Cameroon in sub-Saharan Africa.
‘This was surprising because previously the most diverged branches of the Y chromosome were found in traditional hunter-gatherer populations such as Pygmies and the click-speaking KhoeSan, who are considered to be the most diverged human populations living today.
‘Instead, the sample matched the Y chromosome DNA of 11 men, who all came from a very small region of western Cameroon,’ Hammer said.
‘And the sequences of those individuals are variables”

“Africans Were Already Studying the Stars and Creating a Lunar Calendar

Ruins of a 300 B.C. astronomical observatory in Kenya serve as a reminder of just how advanced ancient Egyptians were when it came to studying the stars and other heavenly bodies. It is believed that Africans were already mapping movements of stars such as Triangulum, Aldebaran, Bellatrix, Central Orion and the moon. They were believed to be creating a lunar calendar of 354 days.

    Ancient Egyptians Had Water Purifiers

A ruined mosque in the Kenyan city of Gedi revealed evidence of early water purifiers. The mosque held what appeared to be a water purifier made of limestone that the ancient Egyptians used for recycling water.”

    Pachamama;

You said “If not, we certainly have the end of the world.”

    I think its “if not”

… and hardly any Americans realize it. They have to excise this rapidly metastasizing cancer.

Donald Trump (and Steve Bannon) are no ordinary human beings. All the opposition melts before Trump like magic. The opposition by ordinary people and the judiciary, is the only thing that stands betweeh Trump and a new, unrecognizable US and eventually the World.

Everything is rapidly being put in place (and falling in place) for a hostile takeover.

There are several items of real, corroborated, news over the past few days that suggest we are reaching a stage where Trump cannot be stopped.

    Check out these recent happenings:-

Trump appears to be battening down on doing nothing about his conflict of interest issues.

Trump, besides admitting that he was tricked by Bannon into appointing him to the permanent Security Council’s principal committee and despite expressing anger at being tricked, has done absolutely nothing about it. Bannon stays unscathed.

Jeff Sessions was confirmed as AG yesternight and immediately selected the most transparent racist and unprogressive lawyer in the US as his Solicitor General. Back to the nineteen fifties is in the offing.

Trump complains about his Daughter Ivanka’s line of clothing being removed from Nordstrom’s line and a commentator on MSNBC sees little wrong. There is no outrage expressed.

Meanwhile, carnage of a very interesting nature is being strategically carried out at USDA.

    Check it out.

dpD; I suspect that you are wrong about Donald!

  8. @John February 8, 2017 at 11:09 PM …Have you taken over another role of provacateur extrodinaire as Chad in making your shriller and shriller noise as the Dean noted.

Surely anyone who credentials themselves here as a researcher and avid reader of scholarly works as you do cannot then make the patently false and misleading remarks in your post.

Trump has badly politicized this immigration issue; he has politicized judicial independence in an ‘unpresidented’ way …stop being shrill.

” I think you should be able to speak your mind about any branch of Government โ€ฆ after all, the individuals that comprise the branch work for you!!”

That is just absolutely false. Of course, political leaders appoint judges. In many jurisdictions certain judicial or state legal positions are even directly elected posts. But at NO TIME does a sitting judge ‘work for’, should be beholden to or is directed under any ’employment contract’ by the ’employer’ politician who appointed or the people who elected him/her.

“… again, Trump is just showing what is possible. โ€ฆ and it is because he understands the concepts of responsibility and accountabilityโ€ฆ..”

REALLY. Trumps understands only one thing: I can do whatever the bad-word I want to do.

I commiserate with the legions of teachers at all grades who have to advise kids on ethics (like Nordstrom) and the constitutional three legs of US governance. The saving grace for those kids: they will also learn extensively all the rudiments of the US impeachment process.

“Perhaps … the ban is necessary that he will โ€ march into hellโ€ on their account if it is necessary โ€ฆ..”

You are right, he will likely march us all into a hellish new world.

We are now rebooting to a time when illegal aliens who were in the US for 10, 20 and 25+ years as law-abiding citizens are now being detained with threat of deportation to a homeland where they may have limited and sometimes no meaningful familial roots.

These are the terror threats your esteemed leader fears and who also apparently took jobs from his acolytes in rural America.

The problem with Trump are folks like you who find a way to justify absolute nonsensical and illegal behavior… behavior that will cause grave disruption to real families and invariably ‘radicalize’ more folks with an unconscionable hatred.

And all this from the son of illegal immigrants… Ooops. That’s false news. They were just immigrants who did illegal things while in US.

  9. If you read the link about the Chinese family that can trace its roots back 851 years you will see that not once does the term DNA arise.

Every person on earth has DNA … the ability to trace roots back 851 years means the Chinese family must have used records created by the civilization to which it belongs.

It is no secret the Chinese people of today come from a thriving civilization dating back thousands of years.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_China

I have never met a dumb Chinese person, or for that matter a dumb Indian.

My experience has been that Trinis on the whole are smarter than Bajans ….. after all, they now own Barbados … and I think it may be because of the markedly greater levels of mixing!!

This Chinese family claims to be able to go back 8 centuries, to about 1200 AD

In my case I can go back to the early 1600’s in Barbados in one of my english lines.

I can even prove he was a Quaker in 1672.

In one of my African lines I can get back to 1816.

In another African line I can begin in 1721 because the surname my ancestor chose is unique.

I can show he got his freedom because he was owned by a Quaker and I can surmise that he made the choice to become a Christian … and probably became a Quaker as well!!

I can’t be 100% sure he was my ancestor because his descendant’s records have some blanks but the surname is unique enough to be pretty confident that he was.

A time span of 400 years is over 10 generations.

Simple math says there were 1024 people alive 10 generations ago that took part in my creation … and that is true for every human alive today.

Since the population of the world was tiny back then it is a sure bet that most of us in Barbados share a common ancestor(s), black or white …. perhaps both … plain common sense!!

I have barely scratched the surface in my case and followed back my mother’s Barbados lineage.

I have not even begun to follow my father’s lineage.

    He was born in Trinidad.

I know of only one example where a family in Barbados has been able to get back to ancestors in Africa and actually go and meet their living cousins.

DNA will only serve as a guide, and if you are lucky enough to hit on a match, you can locate a cousin who shared an ancestor with you 10 generations ago!!!

    Re. your 9:18 am post.

Looks like you’ve managed to reveal why you consider that Trinidadians are brighter than Bajans. But you need to study genetics a bit more. But such arguments as your have been long shown to be wrong by real geneticists.

  12. Ancestry.com does not work on DNA.

It works on records kept ….. duhhhhhhhh!!

It provides a DNA service and can match cousins if I understand the service correctly.

DNA can only give you a guide as where some of your ancestors may have come from.

The remarkable thing is that the Chinese family can get back 851 years through records.

It sounds as if it can name an ancestor who lived 851 years ago.

It is not possible to do that with DNA unless you are fortunate enough to have been descended from someone like King Tut and a match can be made between his DNA and yours!!

  13. @Are-we, if you mean being wrong about him being sent home to the tower then I hope I am RIGHT because the alternatives are extremely frightening.

Frankly even that alternative is scary because Pres Mike Pence may act with more legal and careful deliberation but he is even more dyed in the deeply woven conservative wool than the current president.

    Worst Alternatives:

**** Trump is dismissed as Nordstrom took the heart and soul of his daughter’s clothing. There will be no raising stock prices in that scenario.

And yes I am also confident that Trump can and will be stopped legally. He will overstep.

I did not hear that MSNBC pundit but I heard others on CNN and read many others who all said his actions were beyond incredulous and absolutely wrong.

Whether it’s his Republican colleagues re impeachment, a major investigation or a state driven law-suit that cascades into his political destructive avalanche, I believe he will fall. It will create a very dangerous country divisive dynamic, but so be it.

  17. Slaves were given the European names of their owners
and were raped by whites giving their slave children white DNA

  18. I have never seen any evidence of Chinese or Indian ancestry through my father.

Portuguese and perhaps Amerindian … but I would have to do a DNA test to fid out if such ancestry exists.

I won’t be able to get to the actual name of the person like the Chinese family was able to, just general areas.

Spanish ancestry I also get from my mother, Sephardic Jews and I am guessing from my father I will have a link to Sephardic Jews as well.

These were expelled from the Iberian Peninsula in 1492 when the Christians defeated the Moors.

It is possible many of us may have a link to Chinese and Indian because as Islam spread out of what is now Saudi Arabia and invaded the Iberian Peninsula it could have brought with it Chinese and Indian blood.

The Mongols reached as far as Saudi Arabia so it is possible over the centuries that the Moors brought with them to the Iberian Peninsula ancestry from further east.

Islam also spread into to India through conquest.

It is quite possible that we all in the Caribbean, besides African and European heritage, possess both Chinese and Indian heritage as well to some extent!!

A DNA test may show this up but that is as close as it gets because for most of history, records of births were not kept or have been destroyed.

There are brief periods when records will exist, eg in Egyptian and Sumerian civilization but it will only be regal records that may exist.

In Aztec and Incan civilisations there will be a similar problem, in the case of Incan civilization I don’t think the art of writing was mastered.

Looks like we are philosophically on the same page of the revelations of the Trump phenomenon. It is only our Crystal balls that differ re. what current happenings portend.

I think that the GOP leadership has now clearly shown that it will not ever challenge Trump unless the People show unequivocally that they will reject them in the coming primaries and mid term elections. But Bannon, through Trump, has shown that he has masterminded a true work of genius which, given what has happened so far and the lack of outrage by the Republican and even Democrat Politicians, is not likely to be overthrown.

The American politicians fail to recognize that the C change has already happened. A new America is inevitable. Any expectation that the Government will revert to a reasonable one is fast disappearing in the rearview mirror.

What the GOP and Democrats are scared of is that a total existential chaos might erupt if they sought to use the normal remedy of impeachment for a president whose penchant is to thumb his nose at every tradition, check and balance that would, in pre-Trump times, have forced an impeachment process. Trump is not normal. He has bewitched several Americans (and even some Bajans). The GOP will, while getting their favourite projects passed, continue to ignore Trump’s obvious malfeances for the sake of reducing the possibility of gross instability. As time goes on Trump will become unassailable while his conduct becomes the new norm.

But there is a possibility that something will happen to cause the situation to deteriorate and the Trump accommodations to be all be in vain.

Putin’s stake and efforts in all this was in underwriting, through his support for the Donald in the last elections, to destabilize the USA. He succeeded only partially. He can only succeed fully if Trump (through Bannon, Flynn and perhaps Comey) go into the next phase – i.e. precipitating a Trump breakdown or blowup that would energize Trump’s minions to unthinkingly wreck the society.

That is easy. Just an impeachment of Emperor Donald would do it.

That is the Hobson’s choice that the three components of Government face at this time.

  20. There were two major routes for slaves out of Africa, one overland from prehistoric times and the other more recently from the 15th century, via the Atlantic.

As Islam spread into North Africa and across the Sahara and south into modern day Chad and Nigeria, it controlled the overland route, trans Saharan slave trade.

If you goggle it you will find that male slaves, not only from Africa but also Europe were often castrated to prevent reproduction in Arab lands.

There will also be Arab DNA in Moors going to Africa which also originated as Arabs and African women mixed.

Genetic evidence for the Flood – a human population bottleneck matching Noah’s Flood (Genesis 6-9) – is glaringly obvious when our DNA is examined truthfully and logically. You will learn how mutations in both Y Chromosomes and Mitochondria DNA can definitely point to the 4 men and 4 women who were on the Ark, around 4,500 years ago. Plus going back further – the genetic proof for the first humans, Adam and Eve.

John….that’s the only way you will ever know…a room filled with university students took the test recently, all were told by family they were jew, German, Scottish, Irish….this that and the next….the reality was quite different when test results came back DNA dies not lie……..results also revealed 2 cousins many times removed who never even know they existed, the white students were so shocked at some of the results, despite their appearances….they were struck speechless.

DNA testing is the only way to know for sure….since the early 90s they have gotten even better at going back centuries further and further into the human genome…through DNA testing.

  27. Government of the people, by the people for the people!!!!!

Press can’t say these words so it describes Trump as a populist president!!

    Trump is simply their instrument!!

  28. DNA will be general and far reaching, records will be particular and extend only for the period they exist!!

Are you channeling the illiterate…what nonsense was that…..I have DNA records that are very precise, specific, but if you mean they will become much cheaper more easily available, made available to everyone with immediate results, more advanced so that dumb ass humans will know exactly where they originated and stop believing themselves superior to each other because of manmade paper and greed……then yeah….definitely.

They are always looking at cheaper more efficients ways to test and get DNA results to the 7.4 billion people on earth since the early 90s, that is not going anywhere, it can only get better and better.

Give it up John….the scam is dead.

  32. @are-we-there-yet February 9, 2017 at 11:14 AM …Excellent. Absolutely excellent.
Based on your summary sentence as “that is the Hobsonโ€™s choice that the three components of Government face at this time,” I would offer that the even our ‘crystal balls” differ only slightly.

You are a right as rain re elections and as the blogmaster also says the mid-terms will set the course for the US.

If as you allude to, Pres Trump is given a renewed mandate or stated differently, if the Dems cannot marshal their forces to enlighten a majority of voters that Donald Trump is very bad for US and the world then your “total existential chaos US” could be very real.

Let’s all work towards the null position that “… his conduct becomes the new norm.” Or is it already the NORM! (Especially in Barbados where Mottley’s EduTech shenanigans and Thompson’s CLICO malfeasance are just a standard aspect of the political fabric).

He is roiling his base and let us NOT forget there have been countless white-supremacist themed criminal/terror attacks on the US homeland already. The powder keg of which you speak is real and Hobson’s choice or not it makes no sense for Republicans to get a chalice filled with blood and desolation.

You know only too well that Vlad Putin would be ecstatic with joy in helping the US implode.

With that said my only variance with you is labeling Trump as not normal. I fully understand the context but he is quite normal. What he has done – as you said – is to fool people into accepting their worst fears and biases. Nothing abnormal about that…history is replete with major examples.

What has happened to us is that we never had it from the bully pulpit of the US Presidency in such sustained, stand your ground sophistry and force.

So yes he has ‘bewitched several Americans…” and I suspect that you are old enough to recall that lovely lady from the similarly named TV show. She did have to answer to equally authoritative branches of power did she not. LOLL.

He will get his comeuppance…he is too brash and impulsive, not to.

  33. Precise and Specific do not equate with particular!!!!

    DNA testing has its problems!!

    https://www.legalgenealogist.com/2014/04/06/2014-most-bang-for-dna-bucks/

Take for instance Elizabeth Warren and her ethnicity claim regarding Cherokee Indians

    http://www.slate.com/articles/technology/future_tense/2016/06/dna_testing_cannot_determine_ancestry_including_elizabeth_warren_s.html

DNA testing has real flaws so if somebody told you your DNA testing is precise and specific don’t believe them unless you are a gullible fool!!

    What an idiot terrorist.

John you are on here claiming to maybe being,, without any evidence whatsoever……..

    Johns claims below:

“I have never seen any evidence of Chinese or Indian ancestry through my father.

Portuguese and perhaps Amerindian โ€ฆ but I would have to do a DNA test to fid out if such ancestry exists.”

How do you know Warren was not tested, the testing is more available to her in the US…..you would have to send your sample to UK or US…you are claiming the same Native blood, I have seen pale people both in US ad Canada who has one parent that is Native Canadian or Native American, it’s more easily seen in blacks, like the recent Ms. USA, her cheekbones and facial structure shows native ancestry, the last 9 Ms. Universe candidates were clearly of mixed ancestry, so you cannot say Warren is lying.

  37. WC

I said I have not gone back very far with my father so it is completely logical to say I have seen no evidence of Chinese or Indian ancestry in him …. kind of simple!!

If DNA testing could have established Elizabeth Warren’s ethnicity beyond a doubt after she had been dragged over the coals for lying she would have had it done.

Now that is a ridiculously simple conclusion!!

… you still persist in your belief in the precision of a DNA test even …. gullible fool!!!

I will ultimately, if I live, get myself DNA tested.

So far I have only looked at four or five lines back to 10 generations ago … and only on my mother’s side.

Ten generations ago I had 1024 ancestors!!!!

I have barely scratched the surface.

When I get around to it, I will know at a minimum what the DNA test will indicate and what sort of faith to place in it then but for now, I prefer the genealogical research which gives particular results.

I rather see if the DNA test fits the facts rather than try to fit the facts to the results of the DNA test!!!

John…as long as you continue to live in the 1600s and continue to try guessing who ya ancestors are….ya will never understand DNA testing…have you ever even seen a DNA test result, I doubt it, or you would know….keep guessing who ya are and where ya come from, it suits you.

If she has not already, all Warren has to do is take the test, it will tell her if she is 1/100 or 1/32 native, like with you and your family all the folklore passed down yhrough family from one generation to the next and guess work will never tell her anything about her ancestry, ya guess cause ya dont know.

  41. Better watch out, when palin is finished with that putz, he wont want to look at a woman again, He better not challenge her to a boxing match like the self medicating indian senator because she will make him cry for real instead of the bullshit shumer tears he can produce on que.

    https://www.statnews.com/2016/06/29/testing-elizabeth-warrens-dna-resolve-pocohontas-fight/

The biggest problem is that ourย DNA comes from only a fraction of our ancestors.ย Every time an egg and sperm get together, roughly half the DNA of each makes it into the child-to-be. โ€œIf you go enough generations back there is a chance you donโ€™t have any DNA fromย a particular ancestor,โ€ said population geneticist Kasia Bryc of 23andMe. That chance rises the farther back you go, as population biologist Graham Coop of the University of California, Davis, has calculated.

The chance of an ancestorโ€™s DNA not making it to a descendant is greater when a family tree has extensive โ€œadmixture,โ€ meaning ancestors from multiple population groups โ€” as Warren has said hers does.

    The verdict:

โ€œIf Warren did have testing and it found Native American ancestry, we could be confidentโ€ she had a tribal ancestor, said 23andMeโ€™s Bryc. Butย if itย werenโ€™t found, itย could be becauseย DNA from aย single Native American ancestor happened not to survive five generations of DNA scrambling. โ€œJust because DNAย [associated withย Native Americans or any other population group] isnโ€™t there doesnโ€™t mean you should give up your family stories,โ€ said AncestryDNAโ€™s Byrnes.

It is a case of hit or miss!!!

  48. … and if you want you can do the math and go back beyond 10 generations!!

    https://gcbias.org/2013/11/04/how-much-of-your-genome-do-you-inherit-from-a-particular-ancestor/

  49. Look warren is just like that white woman that was the leader of the naacp , they tell the lie often enough they start to believe it. I cannot imagine that woman as head of the US she is no maggie thatcher.

    John

Castration of male slaves had nothing to do with spreading the slaves’ DNA around. If you check your history, you would realise that the men were enslaved and the women were kept as concubines. Many of those women bore children for their captors. The DNA would have been spread through the women.

As a white man, if you look downstairs you would realise why the slave owners castrated the African men. If that glance did not give you a clue then let me explain. African men were notorious for the size of their members. As I understand it, when the white women sampled one of those members, they did not want to go back to those little things that merely penetrated but went little further. To avoid such occurrences, the black males were castrated.
