fakenewsRecently a list of more than 200 โ€˜alternative news sitesโ€™ were referenced by the Washington Post, as secondary source, as being the bearers of questionable information. These 200 websites covered a fairly wide range of opinion, from Russiaโ€™s RT to Alex Jonesโ€™ Prison Planet Radio.

We will argue that anything we see, hear or read, in any environment, could hardly be considered beyond question. Whether we are talking about politics, economy, technology, physical environment, social or legal we see nothing but official lies passing as truths. For it is the area between our ears which represents the most valuable real estate on earth, or mars, for the community of interests.

In between, many critical, alternative news sites, were tarred and feathered by forces which seem to have cleverly cloaked an intention to eliminate or stain fierce competition to the perennial lies of the mainstream. Our instincts suggest, that the targeting of some of the sites was to engender a certain level of confusion. In the intelligence business, such a project is best known as a โ€˜limited hang-outโ€™.

And it has been previously disclosed that all the major, official, fake news networks, CNN, MSNBC, FOX News, Deutsche Welle, BBC, France 21, PBS, Public Radio, etc, are provided constant guidance by the intelligence agencies of the USA. They have their networks of people stationed within. How else would they be able to cover the same (selected) issues in generally the same ways, at the same time, by the same kinds of people, while always reaching the same kinds conclusions.

We were in Czechoslovakia about 30 years ago, to witness an amazing and ongoing propaganda coup. It was a country where the people watched the fake news to hear what was NOT being reported. To make judgements about what the regime did NOT say. In the West, we have come to need that kind of intelligence, especially when dealing with private media working as government propagandists.

Or the story about the Russians who came to the USA during the time of the USSR and wondered how all the media would cover all the stories in the same way. They were to marvel at such a feat and hoped to be able to implement same behind the โ€˜iron curtainโ€™. What freedom! What fake news!

Or even โ€˜Democracy Nowโ€™, a programmed stolen from WBAI as developed by the late Samori Marksman, which continues to distribute fake news about some formation called LGBTQ. With an Amy Goodman telling the same kinds of officials lies about Americaโ€™s illegal wars as does the mainstream, to appease her funders. Funders linked to the military-industrial-intelligence-complex. These are the so-called โ€˜progressivesโ€™ in media. They are no less infiltrated.

Our world is highly-propagandized state. The globalization of propaganda. Every major institution is infiltrated by intelligence agencies of one kind or the next. More and more electronically. And fake news is a strategic weapon for internal control.

Or the Caribbean Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) whose notion of evening fake news could be missed by viewers for 15 years without being any less mis-informed. This state-sponsored propaganda medium never seems to be able to find a way to be even critically supportive of the regime of the day.

We were surprised at the emergence of fake news, about fake news, at the height of fake news, in the time of Trump and his ‘fakery’. Just maybe, the emergence of fake news may have something to do with the rise of Trumpism. And while there may be some logic to that way of thinking, there is also an age-old problem of fake news which must be engaged.

We canโ€™t but argue that fake news has become the normal way of the human. Even โ€˜good newsโ€™ is no less fake. Do we not know, with certainty, that the Bible is replete, from genesis to revelations, with fake news? Have we not been raised on Reddiffusion and the BBC with fake news, the news the British wanted us to hear? Is it not a truism that from the very beginnings of time fake information has been used to deceive most of us? Is it not fake information which has our world upside down?

In all this, there is a misguided presumption that the Washington Post, the Barbados Nation, The Advocate News, the New York Times, operate above the spectre of fake news. Are these not the leading lights of journalism, which gave us the illegal wars in Afghanistan, Iraq, and Syria. Supported terrorists as proxy armies for empire. Promoted the โ€˜White Helmetsโ€™ as recipients for Nobel Prizes, Right Livelihood Awards โ€“ the alternative Nobel. And do not local papers carry international news from a very small circle of media.

While Obama is exiting and Trump, taking over, the nexus between the intelligence agencies and the role of propaganda or fake news is centered around Russia and its alleged interference in the US elections. How much more fake can โ€˜newsโ€™ be? None of the media who we are to tell the โ€˜realโ€™ fake news can possibly address the 800-pound gorilla in the room.

That real news is the centuriesโ€™ old interference in other countriesโ€™ elections by American government agencies, particularly the CIA and NGOs in its pay. If we were from Mars we would be left to assume that this type of thing has never happened before, not on earth. Not when the media of the most powerful country is willing to spread the fake news of its president, in cahoots with untrustworthy secret agencies, based wholly on unproven statements.

If we were from Mars, we might even assume that earthlings were unintelligent beings. If the most powerful man, in the most powerful country, was the most stupid person on the planet, we would conclude that the humanoid was not very smart at all. We could not have known that the humanoid was so ill-informed, and purposely made to be, by fake news. Trumpism for you!

But the Martians will quickly come to realize how earthlings are made to operate within a tapestry of lies. And that for them to gain power on earth they must take control of the vast architecture of fake news which dominates the lives of earthlings.

At the center of the social sciences is the need to measure perceptions, determine gaps and finds ways to satisfy needs. In the hands of politicians, intelligence apparati and ‘fake news’ media networks, instead of managing perceptions, human perceptions are created by this vast propaganda โ€˜machinesโ€™.

We have lost control over notions of free will. Are firmly located within the post-1984 world of George Orwell. And way beyond the โ€˜manufacturing of consentโ€™!

  1. When events happen, only a (lucky) few people are privileged to directly witness what has occurred.

For most of us to become aware of these events, and possibly benefit from that knowledge, there must be an organized effort to gather and record some version of what has taken place. That organized effort costs money, and must be financed by willing parties. Those involved in the news gathering effort, or in financing that effort, will naturally want to influence or control the people who will consume the ‘news’ of what has happened.

So the producers of news will always shape or ‘slant’ their news products to serve their interests. In similar fashion, the consumers of news will selectively perceive, and selectively use, the news products that are presented to them for their consumption.

It should therefore be obvious that, both at the time it is produced, and at the time it is consumed, all news is to some extent distorted, “constructed” or ‘fake’ news. Of course, some fake news is more fake than others, and some news is totally fake.

With the triumph of Trumpism, Democrats will want to blame fake news, even when it should be obvious that the real blame should be laid at the feet of a lazy, uninspiring and hopelessly corrupt presidential candidate.

  2. Systematic โ€˜fake newsโ€™ Planted By Britainโ€™s Intelligence Services
    By Jonathan Cook

Is the CIA editing your newspaper? Here is a great overview by Ed Jones of OpenDemocracyUK of why corporate media are the arch-exponents of โ€œfake newsโ€. The media are overwhelming owned and controlled by billionaires and gargantuan corporations, who depend on the support of other corporations for ad revenue, and employ journalists from a narrow, privileged class whose careers depend on maintaining access to elite sources. It would be simply astounding in these circumstances if we had anything resembling a pluralistic media.

The data concerns UK outlets, but the same principles apply in the US.

One section makes especially disturbing reading. It is the little-discussed matter of the intelligence servicesโ€™ deep penetration of most western, and in some cases non-western, media organisations. In short, US intelligence services โ€“ and to a lesser extent British ones โ€“ have for many decades fed information to sympathetic journalists in key positions inside the โ€œfreeโ€ media, working with them hand in glove. Additionally, the CIA has sought to put its own people into publications to shape directly editorial content and influence public opinion. In some cases, these people may have reached very senior positions.

Nick Davies, of the Guardian, dedicated a whole chapter of his book Flat Earth News to documenting these practices. Strangely, that chapter is rarely mentioned. Journalists who praise the book instead concentrate on his less revealing concept of โ€œchurnalismโ€ โ€“ journalism compromised by constraints of time and resources.

  3. Udo Ulfkotte is a German journalist and a former assistant editor with the prestigous German newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung. He has authored a book, Bought Journalists (Gekaufte Journalisten), in which he confesses that he and his German colleagues were often bribed and used as willing accomplaces to push CIA propaganda in the mainstream media.

We the people have allowed ourselves to be beaten into submission by sheer and utter sophistry by Trump and others.

‘News’ by its very fundamental nature cannot be ‘false’; it’s supposed to be worthy of trust. So the term ‘fake news’ is an absolute contradiction. In a normal world is called a LIE.

We fall into these quagmires because we are twisting ourselves into impossible positions to accommodate our slanted views.

Gerard Baker the editor of the WSJ stated that when his paper carefully checked Donald Trump’s claim that โ€œthousandsโ€ of Muslims were celebrating on New Jersey rooftops after the 9/11 attack and could find no evidence of such a claim he could NOT call that a lie because โ€œif we are to use the term โ€œlieโ€ in our reporting, then we have to be confident about the subjectโ€™s state of knowledge and his moral intent.”

What sophistry! Trump statement was a lie. Plain and simple. The NEWS is that Donald Trump lied. There is no false news to be heard if this were about honest and real journalism.

    But this isn’t.

Trump didn’t win because of ‘fake news’. He won because his lies were accepted. And too of course because the opposing candidate was badly flawed….

But he continues to produce lies and distortions which are accepted in this unreal world of social media as this incongruous ‘fake news’.

Maybe there will be fake wars and fake conflicts of interest and fake mayhem too. Because as the learned editor also said: “I’d be careful about using the word, โ€˜lie.โ€™ โ€˜Lie’ implies much more than just saying something that’s false. It implies a deliberate intent to mislead.โ€

…so we call it ‘Fake News’.

David Thompson was a decent attorney who only took valid commissions from his clients and never compromised his role as Bdos PM by acting as an attorney for a CLICO executive.

I have made no deliberate attempt to mislead anyone…so that is solid ‘old’ fake news data. Certainly not a lie. Steeupse!

  5. Dribbler

is beyond help. The trivial point Gerard Baker was making is that if a political candidate makes a factual statement that is probably false, there may be no way for a news organization to know if the (probably) false statement was intentionally made.

Therefore the role of the news organization is to show that the statement is probably false. Nothing else.

If the news organization were to say the political candidate lied, it would obviously be overreaching — if it cannot prove intentionality.

The level of reasoning involved here is so simple that only a cretin would fail to reach the conclusion I have just reached.

  6. Washington Post latest blunder proves fake news is fine… if it involves Russia

  7. Chad
Is beyond help, Gerard Baker was asked why his paper didnโ€™t report that Trump lied about seeing thousands of Muslims celebrating in NJ during 9/11 he said that calling a subject a liar โ€œrequires a high level of reportingโ€. After he was severely criticized by other journalists he went and wrote a self- absorbed article trying to justify his answer. Trump has been lying his ass off for years and when called out on it he never responds but he has gotten away with it so it works.

Trump made the statement about Muslims because he knew that a large number of people who were likely to support him would believe it, in effect โ€œconfirmation biasโ€ they believe Muslims are evil so it just confirms their belief.

Some people were upset when WSJ fell into Murdochโ€™s hands, it is fast becoming another โ€œNews of the Worldโ€

    @Sargeant, let’s me see if I can help Chad45.

He stated: “If the news organization were to say the political candidate lied, it would obviously be overreaching โ€” if it cannot prove intentionality.”

The editor of the news organization is paraphrased as saying that ‘ his paper carefully checked Donald Trumpโ€™s claim that โ€œthousandsโ€ of Muslims were celebrating on New Jersey rooftops after the 9/11 attack and could find no evidence of such a claim’.

Therefore one must logically accept that finding no evidence of such a claim absolutely did NOT prove an ‘intentionality’ to mislead and lie.

Mr. Chad45’s level of reasoning is simply wondrous.

In our youth we had the parable of the dangers of ‘fake news’…we just didn’t call it that back then. The story of the boy who cried wolf was about the pitfalls of lying our parents and teachers told us.

I can only presume that modern pedagogy instructs that the lad had no deliberate intention to mislead and was presenting the ‘info’ as he believed it to be that wolf was there…. when the people came and checked they did not see a wolf.

The journos found no reports of any Muslims either but modern lies are called ‘fake news’ today.

Chad45 I salute your rational posts. And did you hear the one about the tailor; just show him the corner a man pasts around and he can make a suit to fit perfectly. Lie. That is lie!

It may be time for you to get a book on Logic.

Many people make false statements because they are misled by others, because they deceive themselves, or both.

In any case, the breaking news is that Trump plans to scale back the size and mission of US intelligence agencies because they have become too politicized.

Should be welcome news for Pacha.

  12. Trump wants to scale back Intel Agencies because he doesnโ€™t support its conclusion about the Russian hacks. Vladimir will be so pleased, has there ever been such a narcissistic leader elected in a major country? Trump who is very smart (he keeps repeating that) should hire like- minded Intel operatives who will supply him with all the information that he thinks relevant.

First item, a trip to Kenya to find Obamaโ€™s real Birth Certificate, those investigators he boasted of sending to Hawaii and claimed had some surprising results must have loved it so much that they didnโ€™t bother to return, too much poi.

I am here watching a special on 60 Minutes where islands in the Caribbean are selling citizenship to foreign nationals for a hundred thousand dollars. St. vincent, St. Lucia Autigua and many other islands in the Caribbean are selling the citizenship for the much needed cash, but Barbados wasn’t mentioned, and what is shocking is the fact that the government of Antigua open an office in Pakistan to sell citizenship.

An Act being signed into Law by Obama, but will Caribbean ministers/leaders take advantage of the act that is meant to help the islands and the people, I have to see it to believe it, particularly the retards in Barbados.

“When implemented, the measure may result in a diminution of the influence and the role of the US Embassy in Barbados. That can happen because the act requires the State Department to have a greater diplomatic presence in the nations which belong to the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States. In other words, the US may have to set up diplomatic missions in some of the islands.”

@Chad thank you re that book. Send it to David and he can contact me for my mailing address. Before you despatch it however please go to the section on fallacy, false-logic or sophistry and digest CAREFULLY.

It’s ridiculous nonsense that Trump plans to scale back the size and mission of US intelligence agencies because they have become too politicized, As I alluded to previously if we still discerned the simple gravity of words like Aesop’s fables ‘normally’ then this man Trump would be investigated for sedition and support to an enemy.

A Democrat congressman tweeted the remark that “When Trump belittles the Intelligence Community, he impairs our national security and prospects for the success of his own Administration, That Trump would accept self-serving denials of Kremlin is alarming enough. Citing Assange takes him into new & more treacherous territory.”

And now he continues on that treacherous territory by conflating the sanguine reporting from intelligence professionals to partisan political swamp dwelling.

Trump sent a tweet condemning the Republicans who felt severely under-attack and made those insanely self-serving ethics rules changes…since restored. And now HE wants to gut the back-bone of the nation’s security because HE feels severely under-attack politically .

Does any practical person see this as the remark of a thinking and rational man. And you call yourself a master of logical progression.

During WWII Japanese Americans were sent to jails on suspicion of support to an enemy for much less reason than this President-elect’s rhetoric.

The other day I went online to check from my local library the ebook version of ‘The Manchurian Candidate’. It was not available. At the rate of Trump’s current folly I wonder if I should put it on hold. He may be gone or neutered before I get it on tablet!

But then again he says one thing publicly and quite another when behind closed doors. So his public noise is mostly all lies …. according to the Aesop way.

  17. It is ironic the same Democrats who cried fowl when Comey dumped his stink bombs on Clinton two weeks before P-day are now all complementary of the intelligence services FBI included.

  18. Well there were some people from the Middle East that were arrested after being observed in NJ celebrating the destruction of the WTC towers on 9/11, but they weren’t Muslims and did not number in the thousands. I wonder if the two incident below were perhaps conflated in the Trumpster’s somewhat scatter brained mind when he made an unsupported claim about thousands of Muslims in NJ celebrating the WTC attacks.

See this regarding the arrest on 9/11 of the “Dancing Israelis”:
    http://www.whatreallyhappened.com/WRHARTICLES/fiveisraelis.html

    And this:
Also on 9/11 there was a video shown on US channels allegedly of hundreds of Palestinians caught joyously celebrating the WTC attacks in Gaza, but one Palestinian lady who figured prominently in the video and was tracked down later said she was shocked at the claims she was celebrating the WTC attacks, because she had been filmed after someone appeared on the street offering cake to passers by if they would act happy and cheer while they were filmed. Also in the video of the incident is observed, you can see that it is a tight shot and there are only a few individuals (not hundreds or thousands as the US news reports claimed) actually participating in this supposed celebration of 9/11.

    https://kendoc911.wordpress.com/disinfo-palestinians-cheering-the-911-attacks/

  19. David I have a post in moderation, presumably because I listed two URLs in reference to a discussion over some celebrations reported taking place on 9/11. Could you remove and post please. Thanks

At some stage you are going to have to grade this bajan colour scheme……..you know from…….real,real,real(90%) to could pass(10%)…….problem is that you are going to have some “blacks” that are also real, real, real but look “black” like that afro-american in the usa who discovered that her DNA showed very little african the same as the whole world.

Could all this be fake news as well…..who knows……..from early in the lives of many youngsters of my era we were told to take all information with a pinch of salt.

How can one expect the majority of leaders in the world to know the difference in news today when they subscribe to some belief system that is the origin of fake news.

  33. All news is fake news.

There is a large scale propaganda war in progress, which is so all-pervasive, that it is an integral part of our very existence.
It is not so much a ‘war’ of late, since one side has declared a unilateral truce. Unfortunately, that was the sane side of the battle.
We are constantly bombarded with idiotic ‘news’ that drive our desires, form our personalities, and shape our characters.

It is the stuff that brass bowlery is made of…..

Even the Bible is fake news.
…It says so itself, …and GP and Zoe confirms this.

The ONLY source of TRUTH, and the only possible credible DEFINITION of truth, is BBE…. and this ‘truth’ is ONLY available through the Holy Spirit ….whose availability is only possible because of sacrifices made by one ‘Jesus of Nazareth’.
The ‘holy spirit’ is in effect an additional ‘sense’ beyond our five natural senses, that allows us to ‘see’ the truth to which we were previously ‘blind’.

There REALLY is only one WAY, one TRUTH, and one REAL LIFE…..

Sounds like fake news to me Mr Blogmaster. The Democrats wanted Comey’s head fah sure but they NEVER accused the agents of the FBI of producing tainted data nor did they EVER seek to decimate the agency based on its reporting….despite strong leaks of agents political displeasure.

And MOST importantly incorrectly or not they accused Comey of possibly contravening the Hatch Act.

What Acts have Mr Trump claimed to be contravened here and on what actual grounds does he claim politicization.

This is not a ‘them’ did it too issue. Because the ‘thems’ complained very differently.
