The death of a family member or a friend, is a vivid reminder of those things which are important in lives, amiss those thing which are trivail and aren’t worth pursuing.

We have had disagreements with Amused, from time to time
We continue to honour those.
We, in this moment and for his sake, trust that where his spirit is currently is better than what he has left us to endure.

A very good contributor to the BU posse. Will be missed dearly. Rise in Glory Amuse..

2016 Resolution Poem
I wish in 2016 I had a magic wand
Wave it and let others understand
Only love can stop the bleeding
To stave off war and suffering
I wave it at the despots
And the army crackpots
To stop the darn raping of mothers
And send home the child soldiers
Wave it over some very loose screws
To halt child labor and female abuse
And eradicate child prostitution
Save the poor from exploitation
Let the rich share their wealth
For most got it all by stealth
For after all how many more millions
You want for you and your minions.”Norman Datt,

Amused was one of the BU posters who could be relied on to make insightful posts that enlightened most of us. He will be missed especially for his comments on the inadequacies of the Legal system in Barbados.
May he rest in peace!
-
Condolences go to the family and colleagues of our friend “Amused”.
A real sterling contributor to BU especially on ‘difficult’ matters of a legal nature.
We certainly respect his ‘trained’ intellect and the role he played as ‘amicus curiae’ in those controversial issues of a political nature which occasionally arose in that august chamber ‘amusingly’ referred to as the highest court in the realm.Goodbye ‘Amused’ you will be sorely missed. May Light perpetual shine on you!
-
My condolences to those who knew Amused…..not sure how to express oneself on the passing of a psuedonym.
David
Anthony Davis appears to be absent……..have you heard anything about him.

David;
The passing of “Amused” brought to mind one of my musings on the propriety or otherwise of releasing the real names of posters when they have passed on. I can think of many reasons why a poster might wish to have his incognito status respected after he has passed on but I also think that there are likely to be many other posters who might wish their real names divulged especially if they have contributed a massive volume of work over the years on BU.
Several anonymous posters have, over the years, made excellent contributions to Barbados through BU posts and it might be useful to have a discussion on the propriety or otherwise of releasing their names after they have passed on, perhaps after checking with their family members to determine if the family would have any difficulty in having that loved one’s name identified as a BU poster.
I suspect that many anonymous posters here do so because of a feeling that they, personally, and or their families might suffer harsh consequences if their real names were known. The death of a poster removes the possibility of consequences to the deceased himself but might have little effect on possible consequences to the surviving families of the deceased.
This putative debate might not be particularly important now but I think that sometime in the future it might assume greater importance as BU itself assumes a greater footprint in the spread of information (especially political) in Barbados.
Any thoughts on this matter?

@Are-we-there-yet
It is a ticklish matter.
Although the commenter using a moniker passes, revealing the name might compromise individuals who are still of this world.
-
@ David,
We can figure out who Amused is without you.
-
Easy enough to find out who Amused is, but I much prefer remember him as he was, an A class contributor. Some however may want to know, I am not that curious.
-
Amused, wrote copiously on legal matters he felt obligated to defend. He wrote in support of some scamps and expressed some opinions I found ‘amusing’ to say the least.Condolences to his family and friends.
-
RIP Amused.

Would leave it as he wanted – Amused.

Bu has lost some great intellectuals over the years some which come to mind are bonny peppa.looking glass.and ole onion bag
Although some mentioned were not given the same send off from those in the Bu household as amused their comments played a significant role in making BU the household word that it is todayBtw kinda of strange that PDYR has not weighed in on the passing of amused
Not like him not to be sympathetic in times of sorrow -
It is because of the season we refrain from calling you a jackass.
First of all Looking Glass was given a ‘send off‘.
Old Onion bag is very much alive and does post comments from time time using another moniker. We respect his right to contribute to BU as he sees fit.
BU dealt with Bonny Peppa in other comments and we will leave it at that. If you are unable to connect dots that is your problem.
-
ACs..ah hope ya ain’t wishing death on Piece, like ya did Old Onions, remember the saying, when digging a grave, always dig 2 or 3.

Through a sprat yuh bound to catch a whale.

Btw never saw any thing relating to bonny peppa death as a confirmation or stated to be an untruth story on BU.
The fact is that bonny peppa had a pedigree of humour unlike any here on Bu and since mentioned of bonny peppa passing no comments in similar content have made their posting on BU comment line which has only led to fuel more speculation of the worst
I belive that if David have knowledge of Peppa passing instead he should react in similar fashion as he did to other BU members who have died.
If he does not know he should clear the air either way on an issue that still raises eyebrows doubts and speculation among some in the BU household -
@are-we-there-yet December 23, 2016 at 4:00 PM…You raise a valid point but why all the intrigue with family and all that!
If any poster here wants to be given new life with his/her appellation at death then simply advise same to the Blogmaster. I contemplated same one day and then laughed at my delusions of grandeur….who the hell needs to know who am. I nixed that rush of blood quickly!
If a poster seeks anonymity in life then absolutely no reason that the Blogmaster should up-end that in death. At least I can’t perceive any real value to that ….well besides Bajan gypsyness
@Vincent I had the same conniption. Other than being polite how does one say goodbye to a pseudonym.
Truth is we may very well know and respect (or not) the person and as we do when we know a public figure we offer polite condolences.
So like you I offer my condolences to the family of a man I may know or may not know but certainly who I came to appreciate and respect on this medium.
May he and all rest peacefully in their faith.
-
David;
I wholeheartedly take the points that you have made in this matter. I think that announcing the death of a fallen blogger alone is an adequate solution that would indicate why a frequent blogger is no longer posting. Any further disclosures or surmises should be left as such.
DPD;
Point taken!

Oh dear, I am very sorry to hear about Amused passing. He was very kind to me and and very supportive on this blog. May you soar to with the wind beneath you.

I thought you had more sense that the nonsense you wrote. Do you not know when to turn it off and turn it on. Shite man.

@SSS, Tis the Reason, we blog. Not so! Some take cheer from the piffle and others crucify the thoughts, words and deeds…But it’s all good; it’s that endless season of offering opinions.
I wish you and yours a wondrous season of Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa or whatever you may celebrate at this time and greater joy into 2017.
Great stuff over this year with your poster project.
Peace.

My sympathy to his family.

Sympathies to his family and friends. Yes, always had the best interest of Barbados at heart.
-
I am lost. I loved and enjoyed Amused. I will miss them terribly. Rest in Peace old friend.

Dribbler
I still think that there are times when your analytical brain needs turn off and let a bit of common sense prevail in some commentaries. Other than that ya alright.
Merry Xmas and a PPP new year.

Charles Skeete
It is not by design that I wish to engage in a philososphical debate regarding the nature of death on this celebratory occasion , but why ought we to feel sorrow for a soul transitioning from a world of pain and suffering to an eternal repose? Death ought not to hold any fear for any or all of us because we ought to know where we are going after we have shed our earthly tabernacle, but what we ought, must and should fear most is the suffering associated with dying, but not death in of itself brother.
-
Yes bajans, a relatively young man too. Let us honour his memory by the quality of our contributions.

Charles Keete
Yes I do understand the emotionalism associated with a love one who has departed this existence, but as God fearing people, the occasion of death should be a celebratory one because we are cognizant of the fact that our love one is moving towards a state peace and rest. But the challenge for the remaining love ones is to channel those negative emotions associated with a deceased love one into positive emotions.
