GrantsnippetOn July 8, 2016, a Court decision made on June 23, 2016, some 15 days earlier, commanded less than 120 words on the Court pages of the Nation newspaper and barely a few seconds on the Voice of Barbados. In April 2012 the same Court matter was trumpeted far and wide by the Nation newspaper, Voice of Barbados and Barbados Today. The paucity of and delay in coverage regarding the dismissal of all charges against the Grants, has attracted the attention of Barbados Underground.

When it was first reported in April 2012 that medical doctor Malcolm Grant and his wife were charged with stealing 1/2 million dollars from Sandy Crest Medical Centre, BU’s immediate reaction was NO WAY! For those who do not know, Dr. Grant and his late wife solely established the parent company of Sandy Crest Medical Centre in October 2003, before inviting others, including Dr. Brian Charles, to participate in its ownership.

In the less than 120 words, the Nation newspaper editors committed to the story on July 8 (captured above) it caused alarm bells to go off in the BU household. The penultimate paragraph of the report states:-

When the matters came up for a final time last June 23, with a representative from the medical centre present, the Court heard that the money had been paid back. Magistrate Douglas Frederick then dismissed the charges.”

The traditional media, formally labelled the fourth estate, plays a very important role in sustaining an orderly society. Any sign that the traditional media has been compromised in its mandate must be prioritized by Barbadians. BU is satisfied the local media is compromised. We have seen the local media surrender to the advertiser and the political ruling class. For those who doubt BU check the CBC TV archives to view an interview with former president Emanuel Joseph of the now defunct Barbados Association Journalists. Coincidentally, Joseph is a reporter at the Peter Harris controlled Barbados Today.

If a member of the BU household was not following the Grant case closely, the less than 120 word report by the Nation newspaper and 10 second Voice of Barbados newscast would have passed unnoticed. Dr. Grant did not pay back money to Peter Harris and Sandy Crest, the case was dropped, end of story. It would be a worthwhile exercise in determining how and why the Nation Publishing Group of Companies reported that the money was repaid? Was this primarily intended to embarrass and compromise Dr. Grant? We already know why Barbados Today will not be motivated to be prolix about the outcome of the case.

  1. Everyone in Barbados is or should be aware by now of Mr. Peter Harris and his brother Thomas Harris and their other utter questionable businesses. His GCI insurance, his car rental business in Worthing. Helping Parris too allegedly launder Clico’s millions by buying Bayview Hospital and the Honda dealership for a handsome percentage. He is the owner/director of Barbados today. Allegedly defrauding the Government of monies from non insurance of some of his fleet of cars. Owner of Club Rehab on Fontabelle where the high and mighty romp and play. Writing promissory notes on insurances that is basically useless and the list goes on and on. Mr Harris is attempting to keep himself out of the spotlight the same way as some of the dishonest Ministers are keeping quiet after some very shady transactions are discovered.

  2. I’m sure the biggest mistake that the Grants ever made in their life was trusting Harris enough to go into business with him. Harris is a slimy greasy businessman of the highest order. Yet many of our politicians can’t see this. Who is in doubt should have a chat with Owen Arthur.

As a former patient of Dr. Grant I wish him every success in his future endeavours. Place this behind you, and you’ll rise again.

More and more I am convinced that the move to put Barbados back on track has to begin with revamping the structure of the fourth estate. We all became angry when an obviously compromised Speaker of the house found support amongst his colleagues. The same level of outrage must be maintained when those entrusted with news dissemination are found to be partial, for reasons financial and otherwise….and it happens everyday.

    “His GCI insurance……….”

Perhaps you should do a bit more research to find out who are the “legitimate” owners of CGI Insurance.

I remember someone sending me an article from “Naked Departure,” which contained similar descriptions and accusations of Peter Harris and his business deals.

However, I’m hoping that we don’t “copy and paste” from those articles to initiate the “metamorphosis” of BU into a resurrected “Naked Departure.”

It was well known that the Grants were set up by Harris, they were not the only one set up by Harris, one or 2 people, served and at least one is still serving a jail sentence in other matters, that’s why Harris can boast that he will have people on the island locked up, yet he is the criminal, dismissal of the case is proof enough…

Grant lost his practice because of Harris.

Harris and the DPP Leacock always seen playing golf together is proof enough of the level of corruption in Barbados.

Fruendel wants the citizens to take proof of corruption of his ministers to the same corrupt and compromised DPP.

Yes indeed, ask Owen Arthur, Rommel Marshall, David Simmons and Mia Mottley about Peter Harris, the monster they created for Bajans.

Bajans need to publicly expose all these monsters.

Good Morning ‪#‎realdreamchasers‬! Here is your daily news cap.

FREUNDEL WANTS TO TALK – A national consultation is being planned this month in an attempt to unearth the root causes of the social unrest that seems to have a firm grip on a segment of the country’s young generation, Prime Minister Freundel Stuart announced Tuesday night. In his contribution to the debate on the Magistrate’s Court (Amendment) Bill 2016, Stuart said the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports would organize the discussion. The Prime Minister revealed little else about the planned discourse, but it was clear his focus was on the youth, who he said believed there was no verifiable way to prove what was right or wrong and felt they were free to do as they pleased. The country’s leader added that of “such a caste of mind is the armed robber, of such a caste of mind is the rapist, of such a caste of mind is the man who wields a gun to achieve his objective”.Stuart said that is what Barbados was dealing with in terms of certain elements in a certain cohort of our society. He revealed this was why he had asked Minister of Youth Affairs, Culture and Sports Stephen Lashley to hold a national consultation on the society later this month to discuss the problems that had surfaced in Barbados in recent times, but that have been on the horizon for the last 25 years. “The young men and young women we are talking about were not spirited into Barbados under the cover of night when we were all asleep. They were born of our men and women, they were nurtured in our homes, educated to the extent that they were interested in our schools, some even went to some of our churches, and they were socialized in our communities. They are a reflection of our failures as a society because we allowed ourselves to be so consumed with other things that we lost sight of the deficits that were overtaking these young people.”The Member of Parliament for St Michael South lamented the fact that crass consumerism and materialism were eating away at the society, adding that a man’s value in society today is determined by the material items he has accumulated in life.

BWA WORKERS TO GET BACK PAY – The first tranche of $17 million in retroactive pay owed to workers of the Barbados Water Authority (BWA) will be disbursed by the end of this month, according to Chairman Dr Atlee Brathwaite. Dr Brathwaite said he was surprised that the workers were planning to go on strike, considering that they had already received their increased wages and the back pay would be in their hands by month end. However, Orlando Gabby Scott, spokesman for the workers’ representative the Barbados Workers Union (BWU), was singing a different tune following a meeting this morning with Minister of Labour Dr Esther Byer-Suckoo. The minister Tuesday held separate talks with a BWU delegation and BWA management officials at the Labour Department. When contacted, BWA General Manager Dr John Mwansa confirmed that the back pay would be disbursed this month. Mwansa also declined to say how much back pay was owed to the workers. However in March this year, Brathwaite said that based on the increase in wages, the BWA’s total wage bill was likely to rise to over $40 million a year. He also stated at the time that it was “a ballpark figure. That is not confirmed yet . . . these are estimates.”

UWI CRIPPLED – Government’s near $200 million debt to the Cave Hill Campus of the University of the West Indies has now reached crippling proportions, according to Principal Professor Eudine Barriteau. In an impassioned plea Tuesday during the launch of a Caribbean Sports Conference held at the Usain Bolt Complex, Barriteau said Government’s debt was seriously hindering her administration’s ability to perform operational and expansion programmes. The educator presented a laundry list of projects undertaken by the campus with limited resources, while speculating on how much more could have been accomplished if the university had been able to collect even a fraction of the substantial debt. The principal reported that the student population dropped dramatically from close to 9,000 prior to the introduction of tuition fees to 6,065 at the time. Three years ago Sir Hilary said UWI’s budget was $146 million, compared to the near $200 million Government debt. He described the debt as the equivalent of 5,000 students.

JONES EAGER TO REMOVE UWI DEBT – MINISTER OF EDUCATION Ronald Jones says he is anxious to see the $200 million debt Government owes the University of the West Indies removed. And when its principal Professor Eudine Barriteau meets soon with Minister of Finance Chris Sinckler and his advisers, Jones is hoping some progress would be made towards reducing if not eliminating altogether the mountain of debt on the university’s books.“The principal met with the ministry, the minister of finance two weeks ago and they have to meet again shortly.“And that is on the agenda in relation to the (proposed new) library and the resources for them to deal with some of the other challenging aspects of the university,” Jones told the MIDWEEK NATION in an interview in New York on Sunday evening after he participated in a town hall meeting at St Gabriel Episcopal Church where Rev. Eddie Alleyne, a Barbadian, is the rector.

TOO MANY OBESE STUDENTS – Spurred into action by statistics showing that a high number of Barbadian students were inactive, overweight, obese and ate the wrong foods, health officials here are turning their attention to vendors who sell snacks outside school compounds in a bid to get them to offer healthy foods.Acting Chief Medical Officer Dr Kenneth George said over the weekend that officials have had some success in convincing operators of established food outlets in the schools to offer healthy options. However, he said reaching the vendors who set up outside school gates was proving more challenging. The senior medical official added that working with the itinerant vendors was part of the BCHOPP’s plan because they were easily accessible to the students. He again emphasized the need for these vendors to offer to change the menu. The medical officer pointed to a 2012 Global School Health Survey report on Barbadian children between ages 13 and 15, as evidence of the poor consumption habits here.In that report, 31.9 per cent of the children studied were overweight; 14.4 per cent were obese; fewer than 30 per cent had fruits or vegetables in the month leading up to the study; more than 70 per cent drank carbonated sweet drinks once a day; and 18.5 per cent ate from fast food restaurants three or more times a week.

NO MORE PRELIMINARY INQUIRIES – A Bill to abolish preliminary inquiries in Magistrates’ Courts and reduce the backlog of cases was introduced to the Lower House Tuesday, with broad support from both Government and Opposition.Attorney General Adriel Brathwaite who led off debate of the measure said the Magistrate’s Court (Amendment) Bill 2016 would reduce unnecessary delays in bringing criminal, civil and traffic proceedings to conclusion.Parliamentarians also expect the legislation to alleviate or reduce problems caused by the unavailability of witnesses to give evidence.Brathwaite said that in 2013 there were 5, 247 preliminary inquiries, slightly more than the 5, 239 cases lodged in the Magistrates’ Courts the previous year.

NURSE REMAINS ON BAIL – The case against former auxiliary nurse Arielle Odinga King was adjourned when it came up for hearing in the District ‘C’ Magistrates’ Court Monday.King, 37, has been charged with assaulting 84-year-old Jasmine Hall, an elderly resident at a nursing home. The accused has denied committing the offence, which allegedly occurred on April 28 this year.King, who resides at Lynches Tenantry, St Philip, will return to court on October 24. She remains on $3,000 bail until then, when the matter comes up before Acting Chief Magistrate Christopher Birch. Accused King, who is not known to the court, is being represented by attorney-at-law Kristen Turton.

TROTMAN DENIES STEALING $60 BAG – Livingston McDonald Trotman will have to make another bid for bail, since the application he made Tuesday was denied. The Storey Gap, Codrington Hill, St Michael resident appeared in the District ‘A’ Magistrates Court No 2 where he denied entering Alicia Tempro’s house as a trespasser and stealing a $60 bag belonging to her.Sergeant Neville Reid opposed bail for the unemployed 46-year-old man, who allegedly violated the complainant’s home. The police officer pointed out that the accused Trotman had 29 priors, 23 of which fell under the Theft Act and 18 of which had been before the same court. However, during his address to the court, Trotman spoke of being gainfully employed and being a diabetic. He also stressed that since coming out of prison he had committed no criminal offences. The accused therefore asked Magistrate Kristie Cuffy-Sargeant to give him a chance and grant him bail with any conditions, and he would abide by them.Bail was denied and Trotman was remanded to prison until August 8.

BAJAN CANADIAN FINED $15000 – A Barbadian man, who was caught bringing over 14 pounds of marijuana into the island last week, had to part with $15,000 after he appeared in a Christ Church court.Erwin Algernon Moseley, who resides in Canada, apologized to the District ‘C’ Magistrates Court for his actions.“I apologize to the court and to everybody that I offended. It’s just that I find myself between a rock and a hard place and I am sorry,” the 71-year-old said to Acting Chief Magistrate Christopher Birch.Moseley lives at 760 Gamelin Street Apartment 219, Lascelle, Quebec.Moseley, who is expected to leave the island tomorrow, was handed a forthwith fines of $10,000 for possession and$5,000 for importing the substance. He was reprimanded and discharged on the counts of trafficking and intent to supply. After pleading guilty to all the offences last week, he was remanded and returned to court this morning.According to the facts, Moseley came in on a flight on July 3 but the suitcase he checked in did not accompany him. The case arrived on a flight the following day but attempts to reach Moseley informing him of its arrival were unsuccessful.Customs personnel therefore searched the luggage in the presence of an airline representative and police officers. They found 27 transparent wrapped packages in a false compartments on either side of the suitcase. Attorney-at-law Damien Sands represented Moseley.

21 YEAR OLD CAUGHT WITH AMMO – A St Lucy man, alleged to have had 12 rounds of ammunition on July 10, has been remanded to jail.Demaund Rahim Tudor, of Lot 2 Mount Poyer, was not required to plead to the indictable offence. The 21-year-old also faces four other traffic violations. He is accused of riding an unlicensed motorcycle on the same date along Clevedale Road,St Michael; that he did not have number plates affixed to the motorcycle in a conspicuous position and that the vehicle was uninsured.Tudor returns before Magistrate Kristie Cuffy-Sargeant in the District ‘A’ Magistrates Court No. 2 on August 8.

QUIET WELCOME HOME FOR GITTENS – MURDER ACCUSED Everton Randolph Gittens returned to a quiet welcome in his Bank Hall neighbourhood yesterday. After apparently leaving the Supreme Court complex via a rear door to avoid the media, the only evidence of higher-than-usual activity in his neighbourhood was the presence of a number of cars outside his home.Earlier, around 4 p.m., the police constable left HMP Dodds, where he had been on remand for more than a year, in a prison transport vehicle for the Bridgetown court for the completion of paper work related to his release on bail, which had been granted last Friday.Gittens, a former member of the Drug Squad, finally got his $200 000 bail signed after his sureties were vetted and accepted by the court yesterday evening.

GLAD TO BE FREE – SIXTEEN YEARS AGO, Arleigh Hector James cried when he was ordered to spend the rest of his life behind bars for killing his wife. Yesterday James was once again reduced to tears, this time after learning that he would be leaving the bars at HMP Dodds behind. The 59-year-old is back in society today, but since his former neighbours in Newbury, St George, don’t want him there, he is living with his family at Lowlands, Christ Church. In 1996, James was sentenced to hang for brutally chopping his wife Deborah, 35, to death on May 23, 1994. When he was finished, her neck was barely hanging on by 3.5 centimetres. Her daughter was also dead. A son who was hiding under a bed, escaped.

CONCERN OVER KILLER’S RELEASE – THERE WAS DISQUIET and even outrage in Newbury, St George, yesterday following the release of convicted killer Arleigh Hector James. James, who was convicted for the vicious 1994 beheading of his wife Debra James and also killed his 14-year-old stepdaughter Sabrina Arlington in the same attack, was set free yesterday afternoon.Last evening several residents were hopping mad and others were in a state of shock as news of his release began to spread throughout the close-knit community. One of those persons most saddened by the news was Fadelma George, who was on the receiving end of James’ cutlass when in 1994 he charged into her home and killed his wife and her teen daughter, and allegedly attempted to kill his eight-year-old son. George received wounds to her right hand as she tried in vain to prevent James from gaining access to her home as his family sought refuge there.

VICTIM SPEAKS OF ATTACK – The 51-year-old Jamaican man who had his left hand severed in an altercation with another resident of Storey Gap, Codrington, St Michael on Monday, is fighting for his life in the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.A tired-looking Delroy Scarlett was fully laid up in bed, with the left hand fully bandaged, the fingers on his right hand visibly swollen and several tubes connected to his body. However, he still mustered enough courage and energy to speak, saying he was thankful to the Almighty for sparing his life. Without getting into the details of Monday’s altercation, Scarlett also revealed that his attacker used to sell his produce, which included pumpkins, yams, peppers and okras that he planted, but wanted to keep all the money to himself. However, following Monday’s attack in which his hand was severed aboved the wrist and his left leg was partially severed below the knee, he may not be able to resume working for a while.Scarlett’s recovery process looks to be a lengthy one, given that he also suffered deep lacerations about his abdominal area and on his left shoulder during what was said to be a cutlass attack. Today, the non national, who has no family in Barbados, was anxious to get his cellular phone back from the QEH nurses so he could inform his relatives in Florida of the incident.Up to Tuesday evening, police were yet to bring any charges in connection with the incident. However, they said a man remained in custody assisting them with their investigations.

TEARS FOR RIANNDO – Rianndo Phillips would have celebrated her 16th birthday Tuesday. However, instead of the big birthday bash she was anxiously anticipating, her family was tonight holding a vigil in her memory after her untimely death last week. The atmosphere was sombre as family members and friends decked in blue shirts – Rianndo’s favourite colour – gathered at her Bush Hall, St Michael home to remember the young student and reflect on what could have been. The table on which Rianndo’s pictures, trophies and medals were displayed was also decorated in blue. Her mother Kathyann Phillips described her daughter as a rising star who was gone too soon. Opting not to disclose the illness that took such a young life, Phillips said she had prayed and hoped her daughter would have made a full recovery, but it was not to be. Phillips remembered her daughter as “bouncy, bubbly and ambitious.

CUMMINS DEBUT – UNCAPPED Barbadian seam bowler Miguel Cummins has been given another opportunity to make his Test debut. The loose-limbed Cummins was called up yesterday as replacement for the retired Jerome Taylor in the 13-member squad for the first Test match against India at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua, July 21-25.After Taylor called time on his Test career, the West Indies Cricket Board on Monday announced a 12-member squad before adding Cummins following the start of a training camp at the Three Ws Oval, yesterday.Last December, the Barbadian pacer was also summoned to Australia as a replacement for the injured Shannon Gabriel for the last two Tests “Down Under” but did not play. The 25-year-old Cummins, who is now the sixth Barbadian in the squad, captained by Jason Holder with compatriot Kraigg Brathwaite as his deputy, has taken 116 wickets in 41 first-class matches at an average of 22.56. The other Bajans are wicketkeeper Shane Dowrich, all-rounder Carlos Brathwaite and rookie middle-order batsman Roston Chase. Cummins has played in a solitary One-Day International against Ireland in 2014, returning figures of onefor 42. Ironically, Taylor will join the St Lucia Zouks squad for the remainder of the Caribbean Premier League campaign, replacing Cummins. Taylor will link up with the Zouks following last night’s match against Guyana Amazon Warriors and is likely to have his first game on Sunday against the Tridents Pride of Barbados at Kensington Oval.

MIXED REACTION TO NEW ANTHEM -A NEW VERSION of the Barbados National Anthem has left some unsure about how they should respond to it. The issue came to the forefront on Monday night at the start of the Barbados Tridents versus Jamaica Tallawahs Caribbean Premier League T20 cricket match at Kensington Oval where the rearranged National Anthem was played and thousands of fans initially hesitated before eventually standing at attention. Some fans complained there was no announcement the anthem was about to be played and they were caught by surprise. Others said they were unfamiliar with the new Nicholas Brancker arrangement which did not carry the traditional drum roll at the start. To make matters worse, South African and Tridents bowler Wayne Parnell continued his bowling practice with a teammate, while the crowd and members of the two teams were standing at attention.

Art….corporate affairs has all the information you will need about CGI Insurance. . I have a copy laying around somewhere and even posted some of it on BU.

The Baileys are still heavily involved with the company.

I been saying that the government needs to get rid of that DPP, too much involvement with corruption and those involved with human trafficking, drug trafficking etc….too many ministers and politicians are involved with Harris, to the detriment of the people and island…..very bad for the island’s reputation.

British businessman sneaks out of St Vincent amid criminal charges

    Wednesday, July 13, 2016

KINGSTOWN, St Vincent (CMC) — Prime Minister Dr Ralph Gonsalves Monday said that British-born businessman, Dave Ame, did not leave St Vincent and the Grenadines illegally last month, although he left after he was summoned to appear in court to answer several criminal charges.

Gonsalves, who is also national security minister, told a news conference that Ames left the country by boat via the Chateaubelair Port — a port of entry and exit.

Citing a report from the chief immigration officer, Gonsalves said that Ames left “for Martinique or somewhere”.

Gonsalves told the media that he suspects that the authorities know where Ames is, adding, “but individuals are mobile”.

The Crown has brought eight charges of tax evasion and theft against Ames and four tax evasion charges against his lawyer, Samuel Commissiong.

Ames is founder of Harlequin Hotels and Resorts, parent company of Buccament Bay Resort Ltd and Harlequin Property (SVG) Ltd. He left the island after he was summoned to appear in court to answer the charges.

The prosecution is alleging that Ames failed to pay over monies he collected in value added tax and pay as you earn tax withdrawn from the wages of his staff.

Prime Minister Gonsalves told reporters that Ames “wasn’t allowed to leave the State” insisting that Ames, a naturalised citizen, did not leave the country illegally.

“So, he actually left legitimately. But there was no watch put at any port in respect of him going, because he was just charged and he was to come to the court,” Gonsalves said, adding that if the court had issued a warrant for Ames, that warrant would have been placed at all ports of entry or exit.

An arrest warrant was issued after Ames failed to appear in court, as Commissiong did.

Gonsalves said he is waiting to see what the law enforcement authorities will be doing to get Ames to come to the island to answer the charges.

Meanwhile, Opposition Leader Arnhim Eustace said that the situation surrounding Ames is another indication of the Government’s “incompetence”.

Speaking on his weekly radio programme on Monday, Eustace said that Ames is now a fugitive who not only owes money to the State, but several local businesses as well.

Eustace said that he had written to Buccament Bay Resort on behalf of a number of persons owed by the company, including a pineapple farmer owed EC$1,500 (One EC dollar =US$0.37 cents) for more than a year.

Eustace said the farmer was paid EC$500 after his letter.

“I wrote about other people down there but I remember this one in particular because the sum was so small and I thought it would have been easy for that farmer to get paid because the sum was so small,” Eustace said.

That process of change started now at least nine years ago. The impact of where and how news is ingested has long been revamped…the advent of ‘citizen journalists’ in the extensive and pervasive digital space, says so!!!

Yet, the local ‘fourth estate’ will remain in its current state of being likely until the end of time as some semblance of a national newspaper will always be around as an ‘official record keeper’.

@David, wasn’t the Nation simply reporting what the court was told re the repayment of the money.

If you have the inside ‘scoop’ of what actually happened then let it hang out.

We are long past the stage where we should expect the traditional media to lead the way on the ‘real story’.

Moreover, the doctors accused of theft can make any public statement they WANT to clear their name…unless of course the whole matter is so twisted and insidious that they are restricted to remain silent. These webs are generally quite sticky, aren’t they!

David this is a strange one and I will be done with it now. Yours will be the last word.

YOU are prosecuting a story which YOU describe as so minor that it would have gone UNNOTICED.

Yet YOU are further publicizing the matter by moving it from the inside page of a bland court report to a ‘Mast head’ story on your blog.

And in doing so you have created your own intriguing narrative by suggesting the Nation editors are facilitating a statement that is TOTALLY unfounded…a statement reported as fact from the court session.

In short the reporter is misrepresenting facts.

You now have inquiring minds wondering what exactly happened here when the Nation’s report would have been read as a ‘same-old-same-old’ business partner spat.

There is a reason they say personal involvement/friendship can cause a less than practical review, senor.

My brother, I gone I don’t know the Grant family so now I redirect my earlier statement:
I am in fact ‘illiterate’ here. Too much intrigue.

I must admit to being a bit perplexed, does it mean if I write anything to impugn the reputations of Dr. Grant; Harris; BT; The Nation or VOB then I can be called on the carpet? Is it all of the above or some of the above cause yuh know sometimes my mout don’t got no cover.

  24. @Well Well & Consequences July 13, 2016 at 6:20 AM “Yes indeed, ask Rommel Marshall.”

    Rommel Marshall?????????

    lol!!!!!!!!!!!

  25. @ Dribbler
Sometimes you would do so much better to just read and listen….

    @ David
    Shiite man!!
SURELY you can see that there is something wrong (in Barbados) that is BEYOND human comprehension. When EVIL becomes the order of the day; when the wicked can so OPENLY be ‘running things’; when right can be made to appear to be wrong, and wrong be made to look right…
WE CLEARLY HAVE REACHED CRISIS STAGE.

Boss, the absolute ULTIMATE IN IDIOCY struck Bushie yesterday in the 4:30 news on the VOB (One Caribbean …Anti-Barbados) News….
    BIG NEWS….
The Manager of the Transport Board, apparently in a last resort (there being no more money to buy new buses), will attempt to FIX the near 100 units just parked up…largely because of ‘engine problems’.

    OH SHIITE MAN!!!!

‘We have reached a critical stage of shortage of units, so we have put together a special team to try to fix at least 40 of the 100 faulty units….”

    Dog bite muh!!!
David, you done know that Bushie woulda fire her ass SAME TIME!!!
…so instead of fixing faults, they would just park them and look to buy new units…?

    This shiite is now ENDEMIC.
The Speaker of the house is a thief
The Prime minister is an idiot
Our DPP seems to be the typical Guyanese official….
Most ministers – indeed MPs- seem to be crooked
Our biggest notorious national robber is a pal of the PM
.. and banks his money at the central bank
Peter Harris is allowed to run a crooked Insurance Company (much like CLICO)
he is ALSO allowed to branch out into the medical field and the press.
…and his main backer is the architect of our court system…

    Here is the point…
When will BU start to apply DIFFERENT analyses to the clear perils that we are facing? – other than the stereotypical call for integrity and transparency?
    Don’t Trinidad have that….?

The problem is SPIRITUAL in nature Boss…and so is the solution.

  26. @ Sargeant
Steupsss – somebody could stop you from talking…?
Stop getting on like Dribbler now….!
All David means is that he intends to challenge any contributions that he considers to be shiite talk…
Wuh Bushie reserves that right too- and the bushman ain’t even the blog owner… 🙂

  27. @Bush Tea July 13, 2016 at 9:00 AM “The Speaker of the house is a thief. The Prime minister is an idiot. Our DPP seems to be the typical Guyanese official. Our biggest notorious national robber is a pal of the PM…and banks his money at the central bank.”

Yuh being real, real cruel here.

The bit about “typical Guyanese official” nearly kill me.

  28. @David “Dr. Grant did not pay back money to Peter Harris and Sandy Crest, the case was dropped, end of story.”

    Dear David:

First question: Are you accusing the Nation of lying?

Second question: Since as you say ” the case was dropped, end of story.” why was the case dropped.

Simple enquiring minds want to know.

  29. Don’t know a thing about Dr. Grant, but wasn’t the late Mrs. Grant an EXTREMELY EXTRAVAGANT person?

  30. @Bush Tea “Our biggest notorious national robber.”

Man you making the “estimable gentleman” sound like Ronnie Biggs.

    lol!!!

  31. @ David
Before Simon leads us off into frivolity, Bushie wants to refer to some predictions made LONG ago ..about the time when ‘life on Earth’ draws to an end…..
See if it does not EXACTLY describe our present predicament…. Even to the fact that WOMEN are being placed to run all these wicked countries….; that our useless youth are terrorising and disrespecting everything we held dear; that the batty men “parade their sin like Sodom’
    BUT…
TELL THE RIGHTEOUS… “It will be well with them….they will enjoy the fruits of their deeds”

LOL … it even speaks of Caswell and Jeff – with their excuse” “I have no remedy.
I have no food or clothing in my house; do not make me the leader of the people.”

    Isaiah 3 (NIV)
    +++++++++++++++++
    See now, the Lord,
    the Lord Almighty,
is about to take from Jerusalem and Judah
    both supply and support:
all supplies of food and all supplies of water,

    the hero and the warrior,
    the judge and the prophet,
    the diviner and the elder,
the captain of fifty and the man of rank,
the counselor, skilled craftsman and clever enchanter.

    “I will make mere youths their officials;
    children will rule over them.”
    5People will oppress each other—
man against man, neighbor against neighbor.
The young will rise up against the old,
    the nobody against the honored.

A man will seize one of his brothers
in his father’s house, and say,
    “You have a cloak, you be our leader;
take charge of this heap of ruins!”

But in that day he will cry out,
    “I have no remedy.
    I have no food or clothing in my house;
do not make me the leader of the people.”

    Jerusalem staggers,
    Judah is falling;
their words and deeds are against the Lord,
    defying his glorious presence.

    The look on their faces testifies against them;
    they parade their sin like Sodom;
    they do not hide it.
    Woe to them!
They have brought disaster upon themselves.

Tell the righteous it will be well with them,
for they will enjoy the fruit of their deeds.

    Woe to the wicked!
    Disaster is upon them!
    They will be paid back
for what their hands have done.

    Youths oppress my people,
    women rule over them.
    My people, your guides lead you astray;
they turn you from the path

  32. Wait Peter Harris own Sandy Crest? How many businesses does this much talked about guy own? Successful business people are to be admired not criminalized but it puzzles how Harris and Bizzy for instance accumulate so much businesses and capital in so short a period. A period of economic constraint when many businessmen lost all they owned.

What are the keys to Peter Harris and Bizzy’s success? Neither of them sound that intelligent neither do they seem to be workaholics. The social pages show both are regulars on the party and cocktail circuit. This is a not to condemn the two multi millionaires merely a question as to what is their secret to rapid wealth accumulation.

Cruelty is all these beasts been practicing on tha public for taking now, using the court system and all the wickedness they can conjure, in cahoots with criminals while taking taxpayer funded salaries.

Yeah Simple…when Marshall was Minister of Transport and Jean-Marie now at Port Inc was then General Manager at the Transport Board, they all colluded, Mia, Owen etc to hand the Transport Board contract over to Harris….and he made sure to destroy that entity with claims..,, the TB aint worth shit now, thanks to criminals and their politician pals…throw Lashley now Minister of Transport with his style of corruption in the mix and the whole entity is dead.

  34. So what if the money was not paid back ? Would it have made the Grants perceived to be less criminal.? The allegations no matter how the court intended or what was reported would not have spared the Grants reputation when doubt and suspicion would singer given the high level of exposure and circumstances surrounding the case and charges levelled against them
However if what the article says is true. Why have the Grants remained silent instead of asking the nation for a retraction by a determination it was false and misleading

Even so Simple…it was still a setup.

“What are the keys to Peter Harris and Bizzy’s success? Neither of them sound that intelligent neither do they seem to be workaholics.”

They are both crooks, but their success comes when the former Chief Justice Simmons was prepared to sell his soul and show Harris how to use the court system to disadvantage bajans and dont pay out any money in claims, even though reinsurance paid the money to CGI.

The DPP willing to sell his soul to show Harris how to beat the system and politicians willing to sell their souls and their people for self enrichment…neither Bizzy nor Harris are particularly intelligent, but they have wicked people to help them, black people.

ACs….Mrs. Grant is now deceased and Dr. Grant has moved on…their children are doing well…Peter Harris and his family are on from Naked Departure to Panama Papers Leaks.

As it stands, the Grants have the better reputation.

Peter Harris is a very DANGEROUS man, he usually goes out of his way to ruin peoples lives. His achievements were not merited by good works and good deeds.

    Well Well & Consequences

Right now Peter Harris is a very scared man, here is hoping he brings down all the politicians and court officials who helped him in his nastiness against the people.

  39. There is no need to hold back on BU. Please bring some more specifics about what Harris has done and educate the old man.

  40. @Bush Tea

We all are familiar with Simon’s penchant to post trivia sometimes.

This blog is pointed at the Editors of the Nation and VoB. The Grants were charged with stealing 1/2 million dollars, BU is aware the Grants did not repay that money. How was the Nation so informed to print that the case was dropped because the money was repaid? BU waits for the Nation publishing to advise se of us who have inquiring minds.

  41. So if the Grants has moved (on)and clarificationof the court judgement is not high on their list of prioties. What purpose does it serves the writer of the article to purpose another angle of speculation as to what the Nation knew or did not know.
Understanding of course that ethics in journalism is tantamount to reporting . However an individual has ever right to challenge information of what was reported that might slur or be cause of perceptions to their reputation
Bu might be doing a just cause for the Grants. However until the nations version is fully veted we are in no way closer to truth unless Grants has the final word

Success for some people needs no brillaince, it just needs a person who, in realising their own “short comings”, learns that they will not be a braniac but that they can groom their inate skills to be a crook.

All of us are crooks it is n our very nature so the crook then only has to appeal to the latent crook, namely corrupt politicians etc and there you have it the western world’s recipe for succcess.

I was watching the retort and repartee between De Word and the Honourable Blogmaster yesterday and I was a little concerned by the drawing of the line in the sand by THe Blogmaster.

I will tell you why though.

Yesterday we were many of us variously paying our respects to Sir Frederick when Plantation Deeds came and threw a spanner into the works.

Now, being one with a toolkit of spanners, I cannot cast any stone at Plantations per that matter but I felt it instructive to me that, after watching the Joy Springer tribute to the man in the GIS documentary, and being humbled by his humbleness and frankness, that a person would jump right up and say these unflattering things.

But then the old man reflected that wait they held onto a fisherman 2016 years ago and crucified him and He Was Without Sin!!

I read this that Dr. Grant is a friend of the Blogmaster and “this first” is really a friend standing up for his friend on his blog.

All of us have our flaws but David has only said, “this is my friend” and while those words have a Fumbilian infamy about them we have to understand what is being said.

I am sure that if a fellow were to say a thing or two there might be lattitude because we are promoting fair speech here but I would bet that they are good friends.

Ergo the statement about bringing supporting documentation.

Suppose that man saved my life when I was slipping away into the dark a few years ago, then, it would have to be that I would protect him to the end UNLESS he thereafter tried to take it, or did some similar deed, that would cause me to recant my stance of allegiance

  43. @PUDRYR

It is about scrutinizing the facts. Did Grant repay $500,000 per not, this is the question. If he did then BU will apologize, if he did not then Sanka Price and the Nation should apologize.

  44. Has anyone considered the possibility that Dr. Grant has not spoken out because he has been advised to “keep quiet” by his attorneys, for they may be considering legal action against the NATION? Just a thought.

  45. But BU has posted a story which question the truthfulness of the nations reporting on the judgement. How then can BU be so quick to question what the nation reported(if) BU does not have full clarification of the judgement
By BU stating that BU is subject to correction says in as many ways that which the article is being critical and accusing the Nation

  46. @ac

How do you know what BU has or knows JA?

We have issued a disclosure above that BU is treating with this matter carefully to protect our sources AND the Grant family.

A reminder the difference between intelligence and the ignorant is that there is a limit on intelligence.

    Ha ha ha .. LOL
    …come on David…
You expect AC to ‘get’ that…?

  48. The Gnome @ David.
Dear Mr. David how did you come to the concluion that Dr.Grant did not pay back money to Peter Harris? Because Dr. Grant said so? Is he the one in the BU household who has been following the case closely and informing you? It is well known that Dr. Grant has been doing a hatchet job on Peter Harris because Harris was the one who discovred him stealing Sandy Crest’s money. Some even question the circumstances of the death of Dr. Grant’s wife. Anyway Mr. Daiv the nation story said a representative of Sandy Crest went to court on 23 June and informed magistrate Douglas Frederick that Grant had repaid the money, and it was on these grounds that the case was dismissed was dismiised. WouldPeter Harris and Sandy Crest have gone to such lengths to recover their money only qto have the matter dismissed without grant repaying? Seems silly to me? By the way when this matter was first being dealt with Dr. Grant’s lawyer, Dr. Cheltenham was the one who negotiated to get Dr. Grant out of jail by calling around and asking the board members of sandy crest to give him a break. Dr. Grant did agree to terms of condition, which he should tell you about, that spared him jail.Of course Dr. Grant will not tell you but you can also ask his present lawyer. T is starnge that go to bat for this criminal but somehow try to vilify Harris, who is only trying to get money stolen back. Very interesting.

  49. Bu stated subject to correction in on of the BU/s comments rationale being either what information BU have regarding the ruling is true or it is not.

Bushie go wash yuh frossy backside who talking to u anyway

  50. Well, well, well, well, well! It is simply amazing yesterday I was vilified for demanding that the Nation Newspaper be forthtright and present the truth. Now I am vindicated because here is an article that also puts the media in a not so stellar light. Will some of us now see the light?
