Th historically passive Bajan continues to explore non violent tactics to express disapproval to the myriad of concerns prevailing our once small proud country. With the emergence of technology and along with it the exponential growth of social media, two BU regulars have come up with the idea to create posters to graphically detail our concerns and to use social media as a vehicle to communicate those concerns.

Here are a few posters which have been created so far by Sunshine Sunny Shine and pieceuhderockyeahright and one other. BU posted a couple to Twitter under the hashtag #bajanswantchange. All creative Barbadians are encouraged to create posters and post to social media platforms using the hashtag #bajanswantchange or any other which resonates with the theme. What should be the motivation? A functional democracy calls for all citizens to participate 24/7. Once every five years is disengagement by any definition.

    People here will rightfully wonder why I seem obsessed with the topic of “revolution” given what is generally conjures a la Hollywood indoctrination.

    Bajans are not so far away from Sydney Burnett Alleyne nor Maurice Bishop that this WILL CAUSE HEADS TO TURN so it is either that

    (a) PUDRYR want to get noticed, or

    (b) “He is a stickler for pain and discomfort at the hands of the Bajan Government/establishment & the Private Sector or

    (c) that mine is a hope that we seriously consider something that is outside of the voluminous shyt##e talk that we, particularly me, does put down here pun a day.

    And no, de ole man is not Jesus but I would suggest that his “revolution” and war was one which, WITHOUT SWORDS, disrupted the status quo, by making “peeple independent of the shackles of the status quo”, which my noble detractors here will soon append as the opiate of the people.

    Every day somebody comes in the newspapers or on the TV and espouses something about how “de prisoners need a chance” or “de mini bus culture needs to be eradicated” or “de young people need to receive instruction and life skills” and we, like sheep, does suck up up, talk bout um nuff, decry de commensurate DLP minister, til he does change 5 years later.

    What I am suggesting seriously is detaching ourselves from those who are bulling us daily and saying to the collective, let us stop them rogering us through this simple action, “BUY FROM BAJANS WHO ARE PART OF OUR STRUGGLE!!!”

    “The New Revolution for Black Bajans has to “detach itself from those who are economically enslaving us “every single day” POST SO CALLED EMANCIPATION and saying to the “Plantation Owner Collective” that we will stop you from bulling us by “BUYING FROM BLACKS, FROM BAJANS (OR PEOPLE) WHO ARE PART OF OUR BLACK STRUGGLE!!!”

    De ole man ent talking geofencing de PSVs vehicles nor change de law, nor lockup de drivers,

    I am saying that we commence the revolution buying our food from like Bertram Hall, @ POPULAR, leveraging this stacked system through sourcing our food, our produce, our services that our dollars buy FROM BLACKS!!

    Too many elements to be addressed

    issues of filtering e.g. things like flags and “missing hands”,
    places where one could not see the hand of subject(s)
    the perspective ot the subjects who were central in the frame provided,
    issues of perspective with the two young ladies to the right who one could have removed but there were not enough of the other BLP girls,
    pixel “real estate”,
    the fact that it was night

    Just as an aside gents.

    What the poster does is commingle themes which is not what you want to do with a normal Stoopid Cartoon Poster.

    It traversed issues e.g. the Danny Gill firing and the theme of the “colourization” of the party.

    Colourization is a factor that will favour the BLP & WILL WORK against the DLP.

    Contrary to the Chad 99999 precept “Poverty wears the face of a woman” i.e. the normal family is mother and kids for 75% of the family units.

    We males are appendages like a third leg both figuratively and literally who, for the most part have abdicated our responsibilities as fathers, and significant others.

    The DLP is the old boy network and has never attracted women to its corps.

    Those who are there are purely “coincidental”, Verla and the lady from St Andrew Garner i forget her name (maybe that is because on her stellarly lacklustre presence in things political and I almost forgot Mara.

    These females are all “coincidental” insofar it was, is and has never been the DLP’s active strategy to make the party an “equal opportunity” organisation. The ole boy network rules supreme. Is Chad a member or an advisor?

    What this has meant is that the electorate, of whom 60+ percent comprises women, (subject verb agreement) statistically vote more than men do.

    They will not be “catered to” by the existing DLP constitution cause dem ent EOE compliant read “DEM IS NOT APPEALING to their audience of voting women that they are giving women and opportunity.

    Mia is subtly changing the face of the BLP while strengthening her power base along that “we are women, so we must unite” line, a strategy that we menses will never comprehend.

    This is understood cause she still has to deal with Dale and Eddie’s aspirations.

    The man with hats is not a threat and Oblong Head well, OH is solely “window dressing” given his familial currency read, irrespective of the Simmonds clan, he is not a threat to her PM seat. Plussing all dat you gots to do is to show him some pokkerts and he does get stupid.

    But back to the poster.

    It was commingled solely to cater to you gents.

    A better “Stoopid Cartoon” would have been to show “all the ladies together” without David Gill and weave them into the tapestry of a better “base photo”, more “synergistically”.

    As a concept though gents the suggestion was noteworthy read quite effing good and displayed where Mugabe is going

    I shall explain what the Colonel means to say in plain terms

    You can do “contained posts” on Imgur where (a) the item has no link and cuts of the viewer statistics and or (b) the link is only for viewer on Barbados Underground or (c) like the ole man does where what I post is for the world to see.

    I tend (rarely) to only do a “containerized post” where I realise that people from the United States and elsewhere WILL NOT GET THE STORY BEHIND THE POSTs

    So if you examine the Colonel’s content it is complexioned to softly?? rib and rub his targets of ridicule.

    I can understand his position for a number of reasons.

    The Law of Defamation.

    Unlike Colonel Buggy de ole man is a little more au fait with IP anonymizing, spoofing the machine’s mac address, and a few other things to protect de ole man identity.

    When you post here, have you ever had to validate your post with your email??

    For example, when you came here, was it a prerequisite to get your name/nom de plume added that you have to give your real email address and then wait for an email and a link to log on to BU??

    No!!

    So technically, in a court of law, since there is no step that necessitated that “corroboration” I could post as you and you as me and NO COURT COULD PROVE OTHERWISE

    Additional to the Colonel playing it safe, the Colonel is a man of “nobility” and maturity and renown in Barbados, who would not be found fighting a campaign like a skunk and a cur.

    De ole man however used to be like the Colonel Once, “appropriate force conditioned” i.e. would kill you pun orders from superiors or based on conditions of engagement but not pull he gun and threaten to kill a parliamentarian in the House of Assembly.

    Now mind you, dem fellows killing all uh we wid the corruption and bribery and taxes and water poisoning but dat is not really de Colonel modus and ergo his disclaimer here on BU and his drawing of the proverbial line in the sand.

    But some uh we is jes stone cold killers who really jes en no more dan dem fellers pun de block at 110 bodybags for 2016 so far.

    De ole man doan consider this to be a game of graphic correctness yuh see cause I keeping it real since dese fellers practicing pun de low grade criminals and killing one annuder but dem soon coming to the heights and ting.

    Quite recently, in fact just an hour ago AC of legion posted this item.

    She said, actually it is not AC the lady who posted this one, it was one of the new “strategists” seeking information.

    Using the “soft gloves method” it is better to to bait bees with honey than baygon

    I now quote that item for dissection

    “not arguing that a large viewership is a plus, however on the political landscape where voting is an action of uttermost importance towards the outcome, the viewership should constitute a large target audience that the stoopid posters intends to influence in order to make a meaningful and overall impact going into the next general election…”

    THeGazer’s words are in my mind regarding “what a man says is what will hold him ” and in fact de ole man hath said that Donald Trump’s mouth is going to be his destruction.

    I will for the sake of some readers “respond” to this question.

    And yes it is a question framed by a person who has an understanding of the psyche of the inquisitive mind which does not technically have a grudge against the DLP but just considers that they are in-utile and must be replaced.

    That does not make sense does it for most people are driven by hatred or some vested interest but mine seems to be pity, realising that they simply cant do any better and will spend a few moments wasting time with the cattle.

    Think of this like a thorn in your finger, you do not hate the thorn do you, you just want it out of your finger.

    The question that is encapsulated in those 4 lines of text post their acknowledgement of the impact of the posters is “how do you propose to get this item or any of the rest of the similar materials to the target audience with whom we realise that it will do harm?”

    They actually used the instructions from TheGazer and saw the Imgur portfolio (IN PART).

    That was more impactful than the images here on BU. where the items are “single file” but when they observed Imgur and the fact that approximately 30 pieces of the portfolio that is published/viewable had been see by 30,000 people, the impact of the posters/portfolio hit home.

    Sooooooo what happened was someone said “hold on a second, what if there is a second wave? if he has achieved 30K with 5% of the flier portfolio, what if he is able to focus on the “target audience”?

    Like I said they acknowledge the influence of the posters, that is not in question here.

    They, much earlier, grudgingly acknowledged that the traditional spend on fliers and ads is dated and they realize that the connectivity between digital media and this campaign is disruptive.

    So the question is how.
