Mia Mottley, Opposition Leader

Press time… nothing like the Opposition Leader smiling in the dailies with people that once thought very little of her. Mottley is now faced with a public relations fiasco going into the next Annual Conference

Mia Mottley, Opposition Leader

id itself of the constant noise of Maria Agard, the embattled Member of Parliament for Christ Church West. The strategy is so poisonous that the Mottley’s opposition party has switched to having their  candidate nominations on a Thursday evening just to grab the Friday news in the dailies. It has sunk to an all point low with very few Members of Parliament attending and showing any support.

The BLP is at its best when accommodations across section of opinions, even dissenting [ones]. That is what governance has to be about – you cannot govern a country effectively unless you demonstrate the capacity to accommodate alternative views, however robustly put”

Kerrie Symmonds 2015

“There must be way that all of the parties can work together and if we can’t get [that] achieved within a small area, then that really is not the issue, he suggested…”

Dale Marshall 2015.

“Payne charged that those behind the attempts to undermine Agard should step down immediately… Now you have people jumping on an executive simply to get rid of an individual, and this is wrong,”

George Payne 2015, Former Party Chairman.

“I believe that principles come before party and party comes before personality even in the face of differences and dissent,” she said in a statement in which she made clear her feelings about the way the matter was handled. (Another Mottley in 2010 – when the shoe was on the other foot)

It is clear that the recent public comments by Agard’s colleagues and Mottley’s team members smack of a divide. Yes once again the leader who has trumpeted the need for democracy and transparency as far back as 2011 is now reincarnated in a different form. Mottley is not the most favoured leader and she knows quite well what she is up against.

The activity planned for Foundation school is the meeting at which Mottley will get the party conference to deliver the final blow to Agard’s political career. It is then it will end and the eulogy read. She has already been instructed NOT to make any more comments to the public on the matter as if she has no right in this regard. Agard is however mindful of Mottley’s public tirade in this regard where she hit the airwaves, wrote letters to the Party and even stormed out of the annual conference like a little spoilt child not having her way.

The truth in all of this will be soon be revealed as Maria Agard must come clean and tell the public why the leader is after her seat. When Arthur spoke to the characteristics of his deputy he was fore warning the public and Barbados Labour Party supporters and the monster he had created. His address in 2009 can be viewed as an apology to the country for his failings in this regard.

One must admit that there is some truth in what Arthur is saying, in what Kerrie is saying and in what Dale is saying. We believe that Mottley is not about removing the barriers to participation but building a new BLP in her image an image where ….. You cannot govern a country effectively unless you demonstrate the capacity to accommodate alternative views,”   Owen accepted her ineptness and her constant bundling of the various Ministries he assigned her until he finally clipped her wings by bringing her as close as possible to him through Economic Affairs.   Mottley’s combative approach to politics has followed her on the journey to leadership. Today the truth is told about Mottley NOT by Mottley but what others have said about her. It is reckless for a public to ignore what one thousand French men and BLP members are saying about the person who leads the Barbados Labour Party. They all converge on the same characteristics that Arthur spoke to and the others. She does not accommodate alternative views at all.

In this regard the public is free to ask George Payne, ask Kerrie Symmonds, ask Lynette Eastmond, ask Dale Marshall, ask Glyne Clarke, ask Ronald Toppin and ask Jerome for sure.

  2. Dale Marshall cannot be trusted , He is a die hard supporter of OSA and will always be. Nothing that MIA say or does would satisfy him until he sees her ousted as leader , His mouthings are simply to be part of a vocal crowd to encourage dissent against Mia ,
In as much as his support for Agard was strong it questionable as to whether his support (now) is as genuine given the report of her slim margin victory or is it just a hypocritical ploy on which he can influence both side of the political divide,
Dale Marshall has been in politics long enough to know how to play the game,

  3. Once I saw that this was submitted by Douglas I did not other to read it.

  4. Now enters the nation news editorial with there two cents worth of advice for the splintered BLP asking the leader to be transparent with the public.
Perceptions can be very tricky and hard to undo when the damaged has been done such the nation is quite aware (of) as they have often use innuendos to fester and foster doubt,
The very thought of perceptions reshaping what is happening in the blp as they approach another annual conference has unnerved the nation to provide advice calling for transparency from Mia in avoidance of the might rush of flood waters which can shape or reshape the public perception of the blp leader,
As they say timing is everything but would Mia heed only time will tell

The current focus on Cahill, the concurrent woes of the DLP, of necessity requires a red herring, which Mia in her inimitable style presents.

One notes with meager interest bordering really on disinterest that the remembrance of the Dead King was not as “coordinated” as before it seems like if they are distracted.

Even the very remembrance in the Nation features Minister of Edykashun Ronald we Jonesing of the chilrun are is learning well and gave very little of the Boy King.

After readying for a few seconds I thought that We Jonesing was dead and it was his remembrance we were being invited to observe the assassin of the English Language that he is!!!

This in and of itself is an indication that the party no longer believes that it is wise that the image of the dead King be upheld as any emblem of value or integrity given the Leroy Parris revelations

Now you are seeing how Adriel Nitwit is talking about a monthly briefing by Fumbles Van Winkle as they see the develop a new image of Fumble deigning to speak to the average man and woman after cussing our donkeys

  6. Barbados is extremely bad at copying the mother country’s parliamentary codes of conduct… In other words, Barbados politics is absolutely rubbish…! It’s all about prestige, making money and securing a nice pension pot… It’s not about the people!

  7. The DLP propaganda machinery is working overtime. Definitely animal farm enacted. A few years ago it was the Thompson Mascoll mess.

    EDITORIAL: BLP must address controversy

  8. Why wouldn’t the blp foot soldiers allow the dry bones of DT to disintegrate in the cold earth
Fuh Christ sake the man is dead.No law or laws on this earth has found DT of theft
Only yesterday a foot soldier boldly circumvent evedience to accuse another of theft because if a disagreement
This typifies the vegenance and hatred which is use by the blp to heap scorn and place land mines in the path of those who are in disagreement
The Dlp yesterday unveil with full availability via their website aplaque of this well liked and beloved son of the soil

  9. That Editorial is a telling sign of the undoings within the Blp seems like things are so bad that the Nation newspaper finds it necessary to intervene as mediator within the confines of the public domain .

AC… unfortunately for you, the fact that Thompson was a crook is now worldwide knowledge, they should have buried the stolen money with him and it would be out of sight, as the world turns, misdeeds are never forgotten, you delude yourself.

The only people who love Thompson are those who shared in the stolen clico policyholders funds.

  12. Another telling sign of the splinters within the blp party is the distance in avoiding any comments by the foot soldiersbout of fear and which might reflect negatively on the party and cause further damage
Unfortunately the horse has bolted and the stable handlers are left holding the door.

  13. Obviously there is a good chance the BLP members are attending the annual conference.

    Hignorance surely knoweth no bounds.

  14. Looks like the PM is not partial at who he wants to direct his silence.

    Oh shirrrt!

Yeah David, Stuart obviously thought Gonzales was bothering him and just ignored him..? Lol

Just the thought of having to deal with the clico issue and figuring out ways for people around the Caribbean to get their money is enough to prompt Stuart et al to figure out 100 ways how the people CAN’T get back their money, they have enough problems figuring out ways not to repay Bajans, in their minds why should they even acknowledge other people across the Caribbean.

I hope he realizes how unprofessional it makes them all look.

  16. Note Stuart and by extension Stuart is the current Chair of Caricom.

  17. Well Well & Consequences Avatar
    Well Well & Consequences

Which makes it sound even more disrespectful.

Stuart was quick to apologize to Gonzales, when a security guard, who was doing his job apparently tried to search Gonzales at the airport and he protested loud enough for everyone in the Caribbean to hear, but something as important as clicos victims getting back their money does not register with Stuart.

I swear, no one can make up this stuff. Common courtesy demands a reply, I guess Chair of Caricom or not Stuart does not acknowledge diplomatic courtesy.you know what, none of us should be surprised, Stuart has the criminal Michael Carrington as Speaker in parliament and would not get rid of him nor Mara Thompson nor his esteemed criminal friend Leroy Parris, so why would anything else he does that runs contrary to how people with ethics and morals do things in the real world, surprise us.

.I bet the older lawyers like Stuart et al are the architects of the mess that is the Disciplinary Committee that victimizes any client trying to get relief from dishonest lawyers.

    ……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….

Ha! Ha! are you saying that those whose disappearance is suspect and questionable are BLP supporters
Do you know this for a fact
I am certain that You are aware of the denial of neither Bor D which some have insisted upon and propagated by way of commentary on this blog
Is this a confirmation to the extent that some of whom are missing are BLP party supporters and therefore by respect is absent because of the BLP annual conference
Are You sure and if so by virtue of having such knoweldge You are committing yourself to calling the boisterous BLP supporters who frequent this blog LIARS (with some exceptions )

  21. steupse is right i agree reason being that this society is two faced and hypocritical say one thing or many things barefacedly to garner support so as to lift themselves high on a tandem pole where others dare not try to reach
David came out as the spin doctor in full style to alter correct and abuse my way of thinking with an inexcusable directive to justify those blp yardfowls who would rather distance themselves or proffer a defense in favor of their leader

  22. @Well Well & Consequences

You need to “understand” Carrington 😉 I guess the silver C-class Mercedes on these pictures is his car. Service for a Mercedes is VERY expensive in Bim – at least if you use original parts. In some cases the love for premium cars obviously exceeds the moral boundaries of the legal profession. Good for Daimler´s shareholders, bad for Bim.

  23. Hi ac’s

David is right, we were all at Conference today……………wonderful event which included a youth forum with wonderful young people……..bright sparks for the future of Barbados…………and a speech from the top drawer by leader Mia Mottley.

So we have no time for your petty hignorance.

David, Mia announced today that there is another scandal brewing involving none other than the low man. He is about to sign some secret agreement with another…….you guess right……..a Canadian entity who is to build some photo-voltaic plant here and guess who is to buy this energy from this plant……….the NCC. And you know that he is planning this project and the BL&P does not know about this? Well, well, well!

If this man does not get lock up………………….

  24. Sad news tonight ……………the police have found the body of Mrs Smith.

I am so sorry for her family and pray God that the devil who killed her would get his just reward!

  25. Thanks Prodigal, can you confirm that Agard, Symmonds and Payne were no shows today? And if yes what does it bode.

    …………………………………..

It is a case of champagne taste and mauby pocket.

It is alleged that his colleagues put up some of the money to bail his tail out and the balance was put up by one of their financiers who demanded a 20-1 return on his money.

He is a 2×4 lawyer…how is he able to afford such a luxurious car? Why do people think that they have to drive such luxurious cars? Are they defined by such material things?

They would do well to know that they cannot carry nothing with them……….prime example the dead king!

  27. True, David………I did not see them as the whole BLP line up were on the platform at the end for a lively rendition from my boy, Peter Ram.

George Payne does not attend anything………..how often does he go to Parliament? This is wrong but George Payne is George Payne.

I saw Kerry’s Dad but not Kerry, I was not there for the whole day.

Maria did not show up but Mia dealt with the matter at length and vows to resolve it in house soon.

  28. Thanks Prodigal, hopefully the gatekeepers will not bar Julian Hunte tomorrow.

  29. Why, is Julian going to conference tomorrow? They would not turn away anyone as long as they are respectful!

I am not a member, I went and was seated quite prominently, I would add!

  30. David,

I forgot to mention that these clowns are going sign a lease for 99 years for an area designated as botanical gardens in MAM’s constituency……………99 years to screw Barbadians!

  31. That is for the photo-voltaic plant! Is Kellman going to get himself involved in another scam again?

If he had any sense, instead of trying to go through the back door to give our lands at Vaucluse to Clare Cowan and her band of whatever they are………….he should be looking to sell the wheeler dealers the land and he would have money to pay NIS!

  32. Just read the report about Mrs. Smith on NationNews.

Truly sad.My thoughts are with her family.

  33. @David October 24, 2015 at 1:49 PM “Looks like the PM is not partial at who he wants to direct his silence.”

David have you forgotten that our Prime Minister said “the man [Leroy Parris of CLICO infamy] is not a leper, he is my friend.”

So Comrade Ralphie have to get lost.

  34. Well Well & Consequences October 24, 2015 at 2:38 PM”Stuart was quick to apologize to Gonzales, when a security guard, who was doing his job apparently tried to search Gonzales at the airport and he protested loud enough for everyone in the Caribbean to hear.”

A sitting Prime Minister has diplomatic immunity so therefore the security guard had no right searching him and the PM was right to protest. The guard needs more and better training

  35. Prodigal since you have weighed in on the topic of truthfulness and honesty it is really sad that those of the blp persuasion would have lied about their support for the party on numerous occasions when it was obvious that the comments given were suspect to their political leanings.
Thanks for your bold confirmation of the obvious which includes blp supporters like artexeres

  36. Well Well & Consequences Avatar
    Well Well & Consequences

Simple…so now that PM Stuart is disrespecting the sanctity of diplomacy, what do you think he needs?

Gonzales still carries diplomatic status when reaching out to engage another colleague about regional interests, not only when he is being searched, and you know what, Michael Lashley has diplomatic status and got his ass searched in the US or they would not know he was money laundering, the Caribbean needs to step up their game.

Mockinbird……as long as they refuse to learn and remain in their quagmire of greed, the island will never move forward, all of these C Class and S Class is just for status, women and their self-induced superiority complexes, their lordgod mentality.

  37. ac
What about the raw untreated sewage being pumping into the Greame Hall sanctuary and the ocean?

  38. If you knew what was the effects of this you certainly would not swim on the south coast near Sandy Beach and on the west coast near Brandons.

  39. Well Well & Consequences Avatar
    Well Well & Consequences

Simple…….in defense of the security guard, I understand he did not know who Gonzales was, everyone is required to show their passports to immigration, not security, I am sure throughout the day at the airport at least 20 males of Portugese descent looking just like Gonzales traverse in and out of Barbados, how was he supposed to know who is who and hence my point that no special priveleges diplomatic or otherwise should be given when it involves the security of a country.

Remember Cubana and Posada, he is known to have gotten off the flight in Barbados and proceeded on to Venezuela.

I can show you at least 5 thousand males looking just like Gonzales in NY city alone and that is only in 1 or 2 boroughs, we have not even gotten into South and Central America, Portugal, Spain or the Mediterranean yet, am sure you got my point.

Security trumps special privileges any day.

When considering the new DLP solar farm scam, it is important to note that BDS private investors have had a planning application outstanding for over two years for a similar venture, on private land that needs no gov’t guarantees or cash input, nor were bribes paid, and has the blessing of the BL&P.

These thieving SOB’s are running from pillar to post gathering as much corn as they can, while they can. Never has corruption in this country been so blatant.

Gov’t has no business in business. Legislate, regulate, facilitate; never operate.
