On May 5, the Court of Appeals of Barbados (in the new High Court building) will hear the appeal of Teerath Persaud for the length of his sentence for manslaughter of Anna Druzhinina.  It took family friend, Amy Beam, two years (and a new Registrar of the Court) to obtain the transcripts from the trials of the two murderers (McCollin and Persaud) of Anna Druzhinina, a popular and loved 16-year-old Russian girl who lived in Barbados and was hanged in her home November 8, 2008.

Appeals are heard by 3 judges, including the Chief Justice.  Court opens at 9AM and is open to the public.  Beam wrote about the murder of her friend, Anna Druzhinina, in 2013, after the manslaughter trial of Teerath Persaud was completed and he was sentenced to 21 years of which he has now served six-and-a-half years.

Counting one year as actually only 9 months for “good behavior,” Persaud could be eligible for release in under 10 years. BFP published the story written by Dr. Amy L.     The way things are going in our courts, I won’t be surprised if he gets away with timed served and and apology. That bastard should never see the outside of a prison again.

    I honestly don’t know how the horrible torture and MURDER of an innocent 16 year old girl could have been classified as manslaughter.These two should have been hanged, but at least given life sentences.Travesty of justice.

    Caswell, that comment from Appeals Judge Peter Williams that your statement was intellectually sound but that you are not an intellectual is a classic.

    Your argument was intellectually sound but you lost because it was not delivered by an intellectual. OMG.

    And still we struggle to understand how profound there is a social class stratification in Barbados. A snob appeal.

    The elite are the elite and then they are the rest of we.

    You should have that quote prepared in lovely calligraphy suitably ascribed, framed and placed in a place of prominence in your office or study.

    Barring two of the disciples most of those chosen by Jesus the Christ were “unlearned” men who were chosen by the Son of the Living God, so that His Works might be made Perfect in the Imperfection that is man.

    We ignorant denizens of this sphere and sheeple of this island would seek to rewrite that which hath been written from the foundation of this earth.

    What Mr. Franklyn has experienced and will experience re: the social graces of a lost society commenting on his inability to make a wise contribution by virtue of his “pedigree” or lack thereof, as they see it,, is emblematic of what we will encounter in a society that has lost its way.

    In the cauldron of the fire and the obvious loss of direction, it is still my hope (and that of Bush Tea) that men like Mr. Franklyn stop for a while in his pursuits to promote his Unity? Union and turn to the bleeding altar of political service.

    Whatever lies within your “closet” cannot be of such a nature that, on putting on the garment of social redress, the Bajan populace would be so aggrieved at it that it would see you in a light so poor that you would be slaughtered.

    Let me see if I can go down a list of “things that Would Make One Loose an Election”

    WIFE BEATING. Remember the wife/woman beaters * from Deacons, St James and Eden Lodge, three notorious and well known politicians who, even in spite of their known predilections, have run and continue to run, and hold seats.

    TIEFING (GUVMENT MONEY & TEKKING BRIBES. Remember this is a matter that we need to SPEAK to in our HOUSE that is the collective house of our nation. Can a man point at you and say that you overcharged $700K for legal advice, or that you charged $30K for cutting down a tree , setting up accounts in foreign jurisdictions so that when you approve FDI and overseas corporation tax exemptions, you are well awarded in US Dollars

    BULLING & LESBIANISM. You can be assured that even if you was a ladies man that you are going to be accused of both so what is the bother. And, technically speaking both are true. Not that will cause you to open your eyes but let the ole man explain. Lesbians like women right? You like women too? So that doan mek you a lesbian? Bulling. Every day, through the inaction of men like you Mr. Franklyn, you allow yourself and other men like me to get bend over and get things done to us, without grease.

    There is really nothing else that you need to address when running for politics – character assassinations, accusations of tiefing and being called a homo or a wicker.

    We need men like you for national service who can change this posturing that allows Anna’s murderers to be “so laxly sentenced” that they can seek some loophole, afforded by the ineptitude of *** to seek to escape from this sentence.

    But then again one would ask the question why 6 life sentences were accorded the murderers of Tiffany Harding, Kelly-Ann Welch, Shanna Griffith, Nikkita Belgrave of Barbados; Kellishaw Olivierre of St Vincent; and Pearl Amanda Cornelius of Guyana but 21 years afforded this Guyanese? murderer?

    Answer the call to duty Mr. Franklyn

    Dr. Myles Munroe, the religious leader who died in a plane in the Bahamas today, once preached that “the value of life is not in its duration, but in its donation.”

    We are not supposed to bury our offspring, It kills the human spirit. That is the ole man’s feeling abut these things but that is a personal feeling, I am not “He who plumbed the Earth” and “Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? declare, if thou hast understanding.”

    I weep for Anna Druzhinina, Tiffany Harding, Kelly-Ann Welch, Shanna Griffith, Nikkita Belgrave, Kellishaw Olivierre and Pearl Amanda Cornelius.

    But I weep for Barbados more because, while we would stop and look at this incredulous issue, through a looking glass complexioned by (i) purported favouritism towards criminals of a particular nationality and them being given free passes for egregious crimes or (ii) others whose $$ is brought to bear in criminal matters so that in a fit of rage we can kill king WITHOUT any fear of retribution, save that GOD WILL ACCORD US, or bring cocaine in the island in truck bodies and the case never be heard.

    The real issue here is how, by these seemingly disconnected events, a chairman here, a judge there, a CoP cross there, a PS down there, a Comptroller under there, and of course the natural denominator, politicians, ant their lackey senators, all over the place, slowly and inexorably, we are sliding into the claws of incompetence, social anarchy and doan carishness.

    Let us face it. We have all adopted the attitude “as long as it is not happening to my family WE JUST DONT CARE!!!”

    And Like de Merriboys in their song say “when de men kill de men, all dat gine be lef is women”, it seems as if the thought is “let them kill out each other and all the crime is going to stop!!

    So we have become a generation led by administrators, pastors, leaders, politicians, “deciders” (George Bush’s word) who simply, dont really care a French Connection.

    I was here writing and I paused to ask myself what could change this?

    De ole man closed my eyes and screamed what could change this? and the answer came back to me, there is nothing that I, or any of us can do, OF OURSELVES.

    It is not GOD’s WILL that we should die, for such would render the Fruit of the Tree of Life, and Jesus, the Way, The Truth and The Light, meaningless.

    Those of us who believe in GOD, or other Deity that you revere, let us just take a stand for what is expected of us by our respective Creators.

    Those of you who do not believe in GOD, calibrate yourselves based on the principles of what is right and just and give input driven by such.

    At the end of our individual reviews what we arrive at is a collective realization that this mess that we are in, if we stay here in our inaction, like stagnant water, in graeme hall swamp, we die.

    I do pray that the long arm of “reverse xenophobia” which we Bajans have lately been practicing against ourselves, does not so taint the minds of our 3 Judges that they entertain and secede from justice into the fold of supporting the “Free pass for Guyanese murderers” that of late, has surfaced in Barbados

    I pray that GOD remember you all in His Kingdom

    The RBPF have upped their game and catch criminals at a stupendous rate. Its time for the courts to match the stellar performance of the police and send criminals particularly murders to jail quickly and for methuselah spells. When a shooter leaves jail he should not have the strength or the inclination to pull a trigger. He should be at least 90 years old if he lives that long. Crimes of domestic violence should put away offenders for long long spells that breakdown their muscle and spirit. That’s the way you deter the boys on the block and others from entering a life of crime. Kudos to the police they have the bad men on the run. The courts must up their game. Sending crooked lawyers to jail has started and must be intensified. BU’s lawyers list in the right hand column should all be facing prison time. Over to you men and women of the judiciary. We are watching.

    It will be terrible if these men sentences are cut. They killed this young beautiful young girl, her parents will never, ever see her again in this life, and this country calls that justice, and now want to cut the sentence. the sentences should be increased, or or they should be hanged, just as they did to that young girl.

    I understand that Ms Beam has in her possession the Official Court transcripts of the Trials of Persaud and Mc Collin .The murderers of little Girl up at Palmers Plantation.

    That the transcripts show that DPP LEACOCK, gave false evidence in abundance to the Courts at both of the trials.
    RPP LEACOCK ,lied thro his teeth.

    At the First trial that of McCollin, the DPP said that the accused , went for Revenge and Robbery and that Mc Collin was just really not the one who was responsible ,that Persaud was.

    At the Second of the trials that of PERSAUD, the DPP reversed the whole process and made PERSAUD the one who was ,lets say, “just along for the ride”.

    Allowed mitigating evidence of what a “nice man” Persaud was; from his previous wife from Guyana and his current “wife” in Barbados, evidence which was taken into account and used to allow for a reduction in sentence time.

    EVEN THO there was evidence previously shown by the Police that Persaud had not been divorced from his first wife and was said to have bigamously married the woman in Barbados.

    Did not inform the Court that there was a current arrest warrant for Persaud in the matter of a vicious assault on an old man and presented Persaud to the Court as being of PREVIOUS good character. To obtain a more favourable sentencing.

    Did not have Persaud charged with Arson after Persaud had been involved in burning Palmers Planatation Great house ,causing many 100,s of thousands of $ of destruction.

    Did not make any sort of case against Persaud at all.

    Even tho clothing owned by Persaud was found at the scene of the crimes and that the “accomplice” McCollins ,had given statements to the Police as to the extent of Persauds vicious attitude and behaviour ,in the course of the murder of the child.

    That Persaud had stated whilst the child was dieing, strangling on the end of electric flex,when McCollin had told Pertsaud “she is not dead”.

    That Persaud,s words were” leave her ONE LESS we have to DEAL with”

    The DPP indicated there were no grounds for a murder charge.

    Much much more.

    David, I am sure Ms Beam would be glad to send you copies of the transcripts for you to publish and show up the Criminal Farce fabricated by The DPP of Barbados CHARLES LEACOCK.

    I repeat IT IS NOT GOD’S WILL THAT WE SHOULD DIE for if it were so after the death of the first Adam, HE would not have sent HIS SON so that we could have Eternal Life AND NOT DIE THE SECOND DEATH!!

    Mitchlans has a point.

    The article posted brings to the forefront an issue which any parent, black or white, will identify with – the pain of a mother or father whose child was so heinously murdered.

    If one of the grans goes in a car or plane accident while one would grieve, one would be less angered than when one’s child is left to strangle and then burnt.

    I would not do that to a dog or a cat furthermore a human. Would You? ISIS does though, without the strangling…

    A person in possession of these supporting documents, especially mindful of the time that it took for them to get them, (maybe to allow for some sort of doctoring?) may be “better served” by the exposure.

    IF what you are saying is true, send it to David the Blogmaster.

    Many of us have heard 2nd or third hand of the modus of Barbados’ Director of Public Prosecutions but it would be interesting to see him up close and personal.

    GENESIS IS THE BOOK OF GENERATIONS, the history of Adam. The Gospel of Matthew contains the generation of Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham. In Genesis we find the history of the first Adam. In the Gospel of Matthew we find the last Adam,  sharing His relationship to the Jewish people as their PERSONAL Messiah-King.

Adam was a type of Christ in that he was the first of all human beings. From  him  the race descended. As its federal head Adam fell, bringing down the whole creation with him. Adam was God's first masterpiece, created in perfection and innocence. When he sinned his dominion passed, later to be reinvested in the last Adam, Christ. In creation God formed man. In re-creation He saves man.

Genesis is the book of death; Matthew the book of life. "The fall of the first Adam was the end of the beginning: the rise of the last Adam was the beginning of the end." (Genesis 5:1-2; 1:26; Matthew 1:1)

In Adam and Christ we have federal heads of two new worlds. Adam was  the progenitor and representative of the race. He was the greatest and last work of creation. As such he was physically, mentally, and spiritually complete. He fell from his high estate and thus brought the curse upon his posterity. God could have abandoned the human race at that time, but He showed forth His love. God, through grace,  provided a Redeemer who would be able to free both mankind and the rest of creation from the curse. This Redeemer was the  last Adam, Christ Jesus. God said, "The soul that sinneth, it shall die." But the respite came in Christ, the substitute for Adam's sin. Christ became the world's sacrifice and substitute for sin.

The first Adam was given dominion over all the works of God. These  he forfeited through his fall. Due to the sin of Adam, no son of his (no human born of a woman) has a right to such universal dominion. Only Christ, the last Adam, can bring order out of chaos. He can do this because He was born of the Holy Spirit, not of man. The total redemption for which He came is not yet completed. This He will finally accomplish. If man is still in the first Adam, death and judgment are his doom. If in the last Adam, life and blessings will ensue. Adam's apron of fig leaves could not cover his sin. Neither can the works of the flesh. It requires the sacrifice of blood and life. The apron covered only a portion of the body. Self-righteousness and salvation by works cannot cover sin. They are insufficient.

The bone taken from the side of Adam was made a blessing, typifying the relationship of Christ and the believer, made possible by the wounds in Christ's side. In the creation, Eve shared the lordship over creation as bone of Adam's bones and flesh of his flesh. Herein is Eve, the bride of Adam, shown to be a type of the bride of the last Adam, Christ. God is revealing the great mystery of our union and oneness with Christ. As the woman was created from man and given his nature, so the believer is created in Christ, given His nature, and made a son of God with Him. 

The following contrast can be made between the first and last Adam:

ADAM                        CHRIST

    Head of the old creation. The head of the new
    Received the breath of life “Breathed on them the breath of life”

    Gave to man a body of flesh, Gives to man a body, incorruptible
    corruptible.
    Became a living soul. Became a ….. quickening spirit

    Gave to man a sinful spirit. Sent to man the Holy Spirit.
    Gave the substance from which Will give glorified bodies when He comes
    temporal bodies come
    Links with the earth, earthy. Links with the heaven, heavenly

    Was provided with food Suffered for food
    Was the first citizen of the old world Was the first-born of the new world
    Was challenged by Satan Challenged Satan
    Was tempted in the garden Was tempted in the wilderness

    Was the chief cornerstone of Is the chief cornerstone of the new world
    the old creation.
    Was tested by Satan and fell Was tested by Satan, and triumphed.
    Brought death and destruction. Brought everlasting joy life and joy

    His fall was death to the race. Triumphs in life FOR the race.
    Was given speech to communicate with Is the Living Word, revealing God.

    John 3:16 says “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life…. (not die)…

    • The overcomers at Ephesus are promised the gift of eternal life. The symbolism of salvation for the Ephesians is “the right to eat from the tree of life, which is in the paradise of God” (2:7).
    • These symbols stand for eternal life in the kingdom of God.
    • Both symbols go back to the beginning of the Old Testament. Where the centerpiece of the Garden of Eden was the tree of life, a symbol for eternal life (2:9).
    • The Tree of Life is first mentioned in Genesis 2 as one of the many trees that were given to Adam and Eve for food. But, that earthly tree was lost in the Garden of Eden when Adam and Eve chose to sin.
    • We see the tree of life symbol again in Revelation 22:2 in the new heavens and the new earth, where it symbolizes eternal life. That Tree of Life will last forever. It is never going to be lost again.
    • The use of the same symbol is an illustration of the unity of the two Testaments in their presentation of the gospel.
    • Genesis 2-3 describes a Paradise Lost to Adam and Eve because of sin; the book of Revelation promises a Paradise Regained through the blood of the Lamb.
    • The church resurrected to life (the New Jerusalem) will receive salvation (eat fruit from the tree of life) in the Lamb’s eternal kingdom (the Garden of Eden and Paradise of God).
    • The paradise of God is that new heaven and that new earth that we look forward to that we read about in Revelation 21 and 22.
    • We can look forward to that Tree of Life that we will never lose.
    • That paradise of God in the future is so much better in the Garden of Eden because there will never be any chance of sin in that new paradise.
    • So, what he is promising them is that you have eternal life.
    • We are to relish it and look forward to that new future, in the new heaven, and the new earth.
    • We are to relish our eternal hope. It is there. We are to persevere and live for it.
    • To him who overcomes, I will grant to eat of the tree of life, which is in the Paradise of God (Rev. 2:7b).

    I am not a biblical scholar. I am just a Star Trek fan so please excuse my ignorance and the conclusions I draw about Elijah. But have you ever considered that the chariot of fire and horses of fire was actually a space ship, and that the fire was in fact the exhaust plasma? Horses don’t have fire coming from their tails. The mode of transport in those times were chariots so a person would more than likely call a vehicle a chariot because that is what he knows. The whirlwind was caused by the exhaust kicking up dust. Amen.

    Piece says that this “WILL” is for everyone to have LIFE rather than DEATH.

    John 3:16 says that GOD’s “will” is for man to have everlasting live ..and that OUT OF LOVE, he gave his only (begotten) son so that WHOSOVER believe this son WILL have such life….

    This has NOTHING to do with the wages of sin; the appointment of men to die; or the soul that sinneth……..

    This whole episode of that child’s murder and the followup official and legal shenanigans in Barbados is a disgrace on all of us …that we could not only allow such a travesty to be perpetrated on a family, but that there has been NO CENSURE of those involved; no changes in administration; and indeed no change in our modus operandi since.

    How in GOD’s name can we as a country NOT expect to be seriously CURSED and to bare serious consequences for perpetrating, condoning and allowing such levels of wickedness and misuse of justice…?

    Without repentance, restitution and CHANGE at the NATIONAL level, the price that we will pay will be beyond ANYTHING that we have ever contemplated in this country…..EVER….

    This brings to mind the role of JUDGES in the whole justice system. Is it that the judges’ hands are tied when clear manoeuvres are being made to corrupt the course of justice?

    Is there no way that a REAL, upright judge can now review this case during appeal, and actually impose a more meaningful punishment – like live in prison?

    One gets the impression that our Judges are more committed to process and form, than they are to JUSTICE and fairness.
