T&T will have a Budget on Monday 8, 2014. In Barbados we wait patiently for ours. One would have reasonably thought in the economic circumstances that we would have more twitter about the economy. We wait.

NO TRANSPARENCY – NO VOTE – NO POWER.
A few audited accounts would be nice,
Officials expenses, off shore accounts and then external justice for the Bajan people.
Simple human rights…
Take good look at the NATIONAL STADIUM. -
The British empiricist philosopher David Hume, has argued long ago that, ” The power lies in the hands of the governed.” So when will the Barbadian people stand together and demand accountability as well as transparency from they leaders? The question is: ( And I am taking poetic liberty here now) who will be the single most important individual, capable of arousing the collective-conscience of the Barbadian? And what will it take to generate the necessary courage in the Barbadian people to inspire them to demand immediate change from they government?

I have never heard the term External Justice. Now, are you talking about external Justice in terms of foreign cash? And are you saying that the Barbadian government refuses to observe the United Nation Charter on Human Rights? I don’t quite follow what you’re trying to establish for an argument sir.

If the movers and shakers, as well as the power brokers in Bridgetown, continue to feed the Barbadian people a diet falsehood, then it’s left to the intelligentsia to inform the collective-conscience of the bewitched electorate.

And as the song is sung David:” Everyone is searching for leader; people need someone to lookup to.”

@ Dompey
Some who govern – ” LISTEN – we are right 97% of the time – who really cares about the other 4%.”
When vanity is argued in front of the poor, is you who acts like a fool amongst wise – or a wise man amongst fools?
All is vanity .. -
We look to God, our parents, our political as well as our religious leaders for guidance right in our lives? But, look how the three most influential institutions in our modern life: the Home, the School and the Church have failed the young people of our present generation.
-
Life Changer, there comes a time when reason and the harsh realities of our present existence ought to overthrow vanity. You can fool some of the people some of time, but you can’t fool all of the people, all of the time.

@ Dompey
You suggest the art of illusion…
“In many religions, vanity, in its modern sense, is considered a form of self-idolatry, in which one likens their self to the greatness of God for the sake of their own image, and thereby becomes separated and perhaps in time divorced from the Divine grace of God. In Christian teachings vanity is considered an example of pride, one of the seven deadly sins.Philosophically speaking, vanity may refer to a broader sense of egoism and pride. Friedrich Nietzsche wrote that “vanity is the fear of appearing original: it is thus a lack of pride, but not necessarily a lack of originality.” One of Mason Cooley’s aphorisms is “Vanity well fed is benevolent. Vanity hungry is spiteful.”
This should be cited as fact against your semblance of a possible future.
Also the following “Quote” should be sourced ;“Have you ever wondered why Focus on the Family encourages its friends to be involved in the culture around them as part of their faith? How being involved in biblical citizenship is part of living our lives as “salt and light” to the world around us?
Or have you wondered if it’s even appropriate or legal for Christian beliefs to help shape our government and policies?
Rest assured, Christians throughout the ages – since the 1st century, in fact – have been expressing their faith in many ways, one of which has been by making a difference in the culture in which God placed them. Our country offers us many benefits and blessings – and two of those are our Christian heritage and the invitation and duty for “We the People” to be actively involved in our system of government.
If you want to know more about the witness countless Christians have left through the ages by engaging their cultures, and how we can follow in those footsteps to make a difference ourselves, dig in to find out “why some can’t stay silent.”

Life Change, if you have academic system in Barbados which instructs people to accreate and recapitulate data rather than to use that data critically, to arrive at logical conclusion, what you expect.

I am having great trouble wondering why would you qoute Nietzche, who was by all intents and purposes, a nihilist and a rebel against Christian morality? It is antithetical that you would use the wisdom of a man who once ascribed to an atheistic-worldview, to give voice on a matter of religious morality.

So what is the purpose of life? Is it to gain knowlage and pass it on? Or is it to reproduce? Both of these when used in a timely manor could be used analytically to bring forward a more interesting theory – are we here to gain knowlage faster or reproduce faster – to just improve our lifestyles?
Enjoy your day.. -
And not to mention that Friedrich Nietzsche, was a racist and ant-semite in the true sense of the word. Most of the German philosophers such as Kant, Hegel, Rosenberg and Nietzshe himself promoted the idea of Aryan superiority as well as the ideology of Nordicism.
-
Life Changer, the purpose of life in my estimation is to search for the right kind of knowledge and not just any kind of knowlege to further one’s particular biases.

so what,s wrong with quoting a athesist..if the philosophy is one that injects and ressurect a betterment for manknid.why must man be so preoccupied with a philosophy only akin to what serves self irrespective of what can be gained from differing beliefs..aren,t we all not our brothers keeper..then how can we pursue such a philosophy if we shut others out.
-
Life Changer, and I do agree with you to some extent, that it was only through the collective exercise of the human intellect and imagination that we have been able to developed the ideas, which have pushed our human civilization forward in positive ways.

AC, some of Nietzsche’s ideas have influenced the likes of Adolf Hitler and the modern day skinheads in America, so that is why one must be circumspect with respect to expousing such ideas . Hitler’s anti-semetic idelogy has inflicted great suffering on the Jewish people, so you see how powerful the instrument of idea can be?
-
The concept of European chattel slavery was an idea first concreated in the minds of evil men. A distructive idea which to this day continues to exact a heavy price on the people of African extraction

@ Dompey.
As I have earlier stated “Vanity all is vanity.”
( QUOTE ) -” Christians Dying for their Faith-”
“All around the world hundreds of Christians are dying for their faith in Jesus.100 million Christians around the globe are currently suffering persecution for their faith. Most often persecution takes the form of imprisonment, abuse, and hostilities. In some cases, however, Christians are asked to face more than scorn, prison, or the loss of health—they are asked to face death.
These individuals are the Christian martyrs of our faith. Jesus said in Matthew 10:39 “Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.”
During the first century, almost all of Jesus’ disciples suffered martyrdom for his sake. Peter was crucified upside down, Mark was torn to pieces, and Paul was beheaded. As Christianity spread throughout Europe and the British Isles, countless numbers of Christians were tortured and burned at the stake. And few can forget the moving story of Jim Elliot and four others who ventured into the Ecuadorian jungle, never to return.
This history reminds us of the great price that belief in God may demand and the great impact that such a sacrifice can have.
But that history has not ended.
Today there are still many Christians martyrs, those who give their life for their faith. Every year and on every continent men and women face death because of their belief in Jesus Christ. They are the Christian martyrs of this century; the fathers, mothers, grandparents, and children who have lost their lives for the sake of the gospel. Around the world the light of their testimonies continues to shine. Their impact is immeasurable and their stories should not be forgotten.”( Unquote. )
Why has no progress been made.

my point dompey rather than being dissmissive there is alawys an area in differing opinion where something can be gained..however one must be objective when pointing the finger of criticism as on the other side of every coin.there are scratches and dents to be found exhibited in teachings and behaviours by christains as in the days of the christain inquisition.yet most still see the relevancy of adhering to a philosophy that others had used to commit grevious crimes against humanity.

I do understand what you’re saying to some degree and as a matter of fact, I do believe in the principle of intellectual-autonomy, but I still maintain that there are those ideas we ought not give currency to. Case in point: there are some individuals in this every country, who obviously think that it is okay to have sexual -relations with minors, and whether we feel this kind of an idea is twisted or not, it is a reality here in this bed of sin. And you know as I do that for the average person this kind of an idea troubles the conscience of people who adheres to a strict standard of religous morality.
