    – ‘How can we lawfully punish those wrongdoers who are looting our country?‘
You lock them up . Remove all that that can not prove how they bought what they have , base on their pay and and legal investments,
You take back what ever they gave to other that also do not match their income or investments,
You also do not allow then to put things in their Will that is also part of laundering or fraud,
All thing must be put in place to take back what ever was taken from the Public and where ever was taxed unneeded after a True Audit.
Remove ALL Judges on all Levels that ruled based on Fraud and conflicts of law and Public Safety .
    Audit Audit Audit ,

  2. Some people don’t like to hear the truth. So perhaps when they see it…
With the devaluation of the Barbadian dollar closing in, It isn’t the moral fiber of the population that needs raising.
It is the moral fiber of those in power, roles of leadership, from the lowest to the highest and most powerful levels.

Be they religious, financial, political, judicial, educational, legislative, scientific, medical, executive or authoritative, it is they whose morals have decayed and declined into abject evil. It isn’t the populace, per se.

We supposedly teach children how to be moral and then throw them to the wolves, totally knowingly and intentionally, because we know, but don’t speak the truth to them, that the systems we exist in are completely corrupt and this is what they are being sent into, and with lies that being good will work.

Not in a corrupt system. Those in power are corrupt. Those who have are corrupt. Those who have want to keep what they have, and get more, meaning less for everyone else.

What they see, and what they learn is that if they do not want to live in the shit with masses of others, they must become corrupt in order to be successful. That is because the system is corrupt by default and will always be so until and unless it is the very people who change it.

What does need to be raised is their moral backbone, to take action and get rid of the system, the people running, ruling and ruining it, and implement a just system in its place.

It is unjust, can never be made just, so it has to go.

If you really want to help children, then stop teaching or educating them on how to be successful.
Teach them how to dismantle, eliminate, change and create a just system for humans to live in.

That would be success, and it would be for all.

  3. What Afra’s blog tells us is that the issue of poor governance, lack of transparency etc is not a Barbados fight, it is one which many countries including our neighbours are currently battling. What Barbados can learn from it is the need to be proactive in policymaking to avoid pitfalls. It has been written time and again corruption is the scourge which threatens our fragile democracies; we see it unfolding every day.

  4. Politicians in Barbados and our neighbours bring to mind a song heard in the UK to the tune of the “Internationale”

“The working class can kiss my arse.
I’ve got the foremans job at last”

  5. Have not had the opportunity to examine the decisions made at the most recent Caricom conference but would be surprise if any mention was made about improving regional governance framework read CLICO, Stanford etc.

  7. “How can we lawfully punish those wrongdoers who are looting our country?‘”

There is only ONE CORRECTIVE ACTION —- Buy an AK47 and learn how to use it, saves millions of dollars in court time, no need to cloth & feed the criminals etc.

It’s harsh medicine but will be an effective CURE.

  8. Peeps all we have to do is a Forensic Audit and like the Pol in the Us who has become $200mn richer in office, with no legal justification, U convict them on TAX EVASION!
NB Al Capone paid for the BEST advisors and this was the method of his downfall!

  12. Moneybrain…….the RICO act gets the corrupt politicians, mafia etc in the US every time, however, the Caribbean is a different ball game, some Caribbean countries have been reining in and arresting their corrupt politicians……..but Barbados is a work in progress, these criminals for politicians and business people continue to get away since they have direct connections to the office of the DPP, AG and the judiciary who are all impotent when it comes to indicting, arresting and jailing these culprits, the stain has spread. .

  13. Afra Raymond’s definition of public money as money due to or payable by the state, including those sums for which the state would be ultimately liable in event of default (of what?) – is a very wrongly conceived and poorly constructed definition of public money, in that, he totally mixes up what is public money, with what are the basic uses and functions of public money, without himself – although making reference to both public money and money – distinguishing money from public money, which for all intents and purposes are both one and the same.

In respect of the latter considerations (just above), for example, ALL money in Barbados is owned by the people of Barbados. However, it is not owned individually by any single person, business or any other entity (class of entity).

Hence, there CANNOT logically be the raising of the question of private money, as any thing that exists, in any serious discussion anywhere about money, although some people reading Raymond’s piece might – rightly or wrongly – infer it (as being in existence really) from his definition.

He must also realize that TAXATION is NOT money, in as much as he writes about taxpayers money in the blog above. For whereas one is an evil political totalitarian process, the other (the latter – money) is to – a large extent – taken to the government by the relevant people as a result of the former within the context of the TAXATION system.

  14. Hello PDC,
It is important that we define Public Money so that we can gain a correct appreciation for its characteristics. That appreciation would include aspects such as the fact that Public Money is raised by coercion (which you identify as taxation), is usually dispensed via some sort of monopolistic arrangement and very importantly, even if we sometimes forget, the monies must be spent for the purpose for which it is raised. Those special features make it essential that Public Money be managed and accounted for at a higher standard than applies to Private Money.

There is no mixup here…it is essential that we understand the subject of our discussions…for example, It is not true to say that all the money in a territory is owned by the people in that territory, how could that be so? That is a real question…what did you mean by that?

    Thanks

    Afra

  15. Afra,

Hope you have not taken us out of context.

For we started the second paragraph of our first response to you by pointing to the context in which we wrote ….. Hence, we stated in that second paragraph…. “Following from the above considerations”….. in respect of public money meaning money belonging to the public (people) of Barbados being the same as money that is public money, then it must be that ALL money being ALL public money in Barbados must belong to the people of Barbados.

The public of Barbados’ money is money that does belong to the people of Barbados – and that does and could NEVER include foreign money which itself does NOT belong to the public/people of Barbados, but belong to the people of the territories in which they were originally issued for use or circulation.

Were we to have said ALL or SOME FOREIGN money belonged to the people of Barbados, we would have been terribly mistaken.

Adultery is unlike masturbation for one reason (no pun intended)

The latter is an act with a singular operator, though not necessarily no spectators given the new age practices.

For there to be adultery there must be two (and in today’s clime) or more participants.

“let him who is without sin, cast the first stone” is the remark that Jesus made to the accusers of the reputed adulteress John 8:7

You, in your post of MoneyBrain | July 10, 2014 at 12:12 PM |
expressed disappointment in the Bulbadians for having elected a party that promised integrity legislation and did not deliver it.

It seems to me like if you have, like the accusers of the woman sought to single out these incompetents of the Order of BuhKvntery as the either political masturbators or single source adulterers since your disappointment seems so focused on the people per their customary belief in campaign lies and manifesto fables of BOTH political parties.

For any one of the DLP figments of the imagination, I can give you a BLP hallucination

So, since we are agreed on the fact that they are BOTH Knights of BuhKvuntery it is my hope, albeit one firmly grounded as a “waste foopism”, that when the election bell rings the next time, we will elect a new breed of men and women, with integrity which is a nex nudder figment of the imagination

  18. @Piece
U should strongly attempt to be far more SUCCINT! lol

Getting back to reality, the choice last election was B or D and in my opinion D should have been VANQUISHED as a result of INCOMPETENCE but most critically for NOT designing and implementing THEIR promise of INTEGRITY Legislation. I do agree that a very competent alternative Party would have been a PROPER alternative. Failing that choice then I vote against the current transgressors!

    @ Moneybrain

But the thing is MB that you understood that which was not so succinct did you not?

That thread of the need for reasoning skills and comprehension is embedded in more and more of my postings here on BU.

If we have readers who are two chromosomes away from a jackass then the inept powers that be find themselves unchallenged and can put any puny muni tax before us for our consumption because we are incapable of reading between the lines

With our so called education laurels it should be that all uh we should be able to unnerstan’ de ole man dribble

On the second issue you presented of 2 choices only, this is precisely why we are, almost 50 years after “independence” still enshackled.

We run the whole field and come to the goal line and, being impotent players stand there mouth open, incapable of doing anything else but voting for B or D

To use your word that is the reality of this Rubicon we survey where “Money is the symptom” and not the problem, the political misfits and choices of shadows of men/women and in-betweeners that people like you and I make voting for ” the lesser of the transgressors” instead of the best that Bulbados can offer.

But maybe, in retrospect to your commenton reality, maybe the lesser of the transgressors is in fact the best that Bulbados can offer and if so, this caterpillar mulch that I call a body could as well give up and lay down to die, because the battle is already lost

  20. @Piece
I did NOT want to swell your head with accolades because I was the King of Precis and Summary in my HC days. However, once I have time, I do appreciate your writing.

Bim has had and still has people with the DNA, IQ, high ethics, etc to operate in politics at the very highest quality level. The problem is that such people appreciate that they may have much pressure to tow the line from the “leadership”. I met with one such gent a few months back and he had requested the PM to appoint him to CLEANSE the system and was rewarded with an immediate DEMOTION. Also the pay is not worth it for Clean Actors to endure the pressures involved.

I have proposed the implementation of Strict Integrity Legislation with Dire Consequences, combined with high salaries for MPs, lets say $500k+.
This should attract much higher quality talent.

  21. Even a blind man on a trotting horse can see that this country economic problems are stemmed from high debt and pork barell spending by both govt and individuals one does not need an economist to figure that out

  22. Every 5 years since 1966 Barbadian voters have been given the option of voting BLP or DLP.

They are wined and dined with rum, corned beef and biscuits, and evenings at comedy central aka political mass meetings.

During each term the ruling party yard fowls eat nuff strach grain and politicians and the elite feast on the fatted calf.

It will take a miracle to reform the politics of Barbados.
