Storm Weather Warning!

Central Bank of Barbados

Hold tight Barbados, more inclement weather, rough seas and an another upcoming international evaluations ahead. What does this mean for the Rock? For sure, certainly not a better report card as present economic conditions have deteriorated, with tourism our number one revenue earner taking a nose dive from earlier Central Bank predictions.

Last time Moody was here, such prevailing condition earned our debentures the ignoble status of Junk Bonds positioning us to borrow at higher rates. One can only but hope that any further censorship will not be too harsh, as both Standard and Poors and Moody, both figuratively like iguanodons are expected at any time outside our gates.

  1. Storm Weather Warning@ Wait till it hits , the Earth will move and the water will come ,
LIKE IT OR LUMP IT@ We will know what he doing when we see its not done .

  2. Light shall come to bear when the Governor of the Central Bank gives his report in August. We all know things are not too bright now and clouds are brewing on the horizon. The million dollar question is storm or hurricane?. How many days of foreign reserves are being maintained at present, 8 weeks, 10 weeks, 12 weeks? Lastly, are there sufficient funds left in the Treasury to avoid the dreaded IMF and its last resort austerity measures. Head of the private sector today at the Hilton eluded to this and to a proactive approach now, rather than later. A waiting game, this one, who shall show hand first?
