Today’s BT editorial is a gem.

It deserves to be a feature article IBHO….
…and to be posted to Mama Mia…

Beg to exist and exist to beg

Brother, can you spare a dime? The daily sight of lone, forlorn individuals seeking alms from strangers often invites disgust, derision and denial of charity from harried, hurried passersby.
One wonders if perhaps the Caribbean itself isn’t likewise perceived in international circles: a collection of developing nations forever seeking handouts and aid from wealthier countries and individual benefactors. To them, we must surely seem to beg to exist and exist to beg.
The perception is largely unreasonable but not entirely unfair; it is the legacy of chattel slavery and colonialism that subjugated our island peoples for centuries and the neocolonialism that remains.
Despite the social revolution of the postwar and post-independence eras, disdain is reserved for the streetside beggar instead of for the pernicious culture of mendicancy haunting our political landscape.
Mendicancy, the act of begging or soliciting alms, has become an ugly norm in politics here and throughout the region. The ‘corn beef and rum’ politics of the universal suffrage era have been replaced with government jobs and paid utility bills and large appliances and cash handouts.
Some of our more conscientious elected representatives and candidates have tried to stem the flood of voter expectations to dole out personal benefits in exchange for their support. This quid pro quo arrangement undermines the very foundations of democracy, stifles mature political discourse and reduces the noble pursuit of public service to a transactional exercise that immediately disqualifies would-be servants of the people.
The implications of this practice are far-reaching and utterly corrosive. It erodes trust in institutions, entrenches a sense of entitlement among the electorate, and perpetuates a cycle of dependency that hinders true self-sufficiency. Moreover, it diverts resources away from the collective good, as funds – both public and private – are shifted from addressing community needs to satisfying individual wants.
We get it. Centuries of the systematic dehumanisation, abuse and exploitation of generations of Barbadians have ingrained a sense of dependency on a ‘Massa’ – a belief that one’s well-being is contingent upon the benevolence of others. We do not accept the conventional wisdom that this is solely a feature of post-independence politics – only the success of gaslighting by the historical opponents of social democracy. But while the mendicant mentality is understandable in the context of historical oppression, it has lingered long after the chains of bondage have been broken; indeed, long-term psychological and sociological damage lasts through generations.
This cycle of mendicancy may not be the current population’s fault but it is now our collective responsibility to break it if we are to forge a republic that refreshes ideals of democracy and self-determination.
It requires a concerted effort to reshape the political culture, fostering a sense of civic responsibility and accountability among both elected officials and the electorate.
There must be a concerted effort to educate the public on the poisonous effects of do-for-do thinking in civic life and the importance of holding the people’s representatives accountable for their actions, rather than seeking personal favours.
This can be achieved through robust, comprehensive civic education and support for a strong, independent media that holds elected officials to the highest standards of ethical conduct.
There must also be a commitment to strengthening the institutions of governance and the rule of law. This includes enforcing robust anti-corruption measures, introducing meaningful campaign finance legislation, ensuring transparency in public spending, and empowering independent oversight bodies to investigate and prosecute malfeasance. Graft is a corrosive substance on the body politic.
And far from dismantling the welfare state, we argue that it must be reinforced and expanded to provide a durable safety net for our most vulnerable folk. Ensuring that basic needs are met through legitimate, institutionalised channels diminishes the temptation to resort to mendicancy merely to survive.
Ultimately, eradicating mendicancy from public life requires a collective effort, a willingness to confront uncomfortable truths, and a steadfast commitment to upholding the principles of democracy and good governance. It is a challenge that demands the concerted efforts of politicians, civil society, the press and the people to reclaim dignity and self-sufficiency.
Perhaps, then, the disease is really a symptom. Pervasive mendicancy may well be a stark indictment of endemic inequality, a glaring manifestation of the deep-rooted economic and social disparities that have persisted for generations. The fact that citizens feel compelled to beg their elected representatives for basic necessities and personal favours is indicative of the failure of successive governments to address these inequities adequately.
Instead of treating mendicancy as a currency – if not opiate – in gaining and maintaining political power, the political class should make the eradication of inequality its central focus for it ultimately undermines their very existence. It is by targeted public policies, a commitment beyond rhetoric to uplifting the most marginalised and frank conversations with citizens, that the people of a great nation on a small island can break free from the shackles of a mendicant past and continue down the road of social justice, equity and sustainable prosperity.
We the People must decide – will we continue to beg to exist and exist to beg?

Plantations were a small part of a bigger picture, where raw goods were shipped back for manufacturing and added value products were sold and traded in global markets. When Brits left, the raw goods were undersold in international markets and plantation colonies were supposed to fail by design. It is no accident that third world economies are poor with lower standard of life, weaker currencies and people have lower incomes, despite being richest in natural resources that are still exploited.

Wealth inequality gap is vastly different in west and east which is now called north and south and used to be called first and third world.

Even in third world countries the wealth inequality gap is much bigger between richest and poorest.

Global manufacturing keeps outsourcing to cheaper countries for less money which prices out countries that had previously established factories and manufacturing for Global Corporations.

As I have said many, many times – our problems begin in our minds. It is why I don’t get into much of the minutaie. Until we address our national mindset we will continue to spin tot in mud. We have some thinking to do and some habits to break.

IT IS MIND-BOGGLING TO SEE HOW POLIETICAL LEADERS ARE DRUNK ON STUPIDITY WITH A NAIL-BITING SENSE OF SELF-UNAWARENESS – FRIGHTENED BY THE NOTION OF PERSONAL INTROSPECTION WHILE EXISTING IN AN INPENETRABLE BUBBLE OF LIES, CORRUPTION, DUPLICITY & DOUBLE-DEALING

When the servant becomes the “MASTER” & #BigBrother “DISHES OUT INDULGENCES” as the Catholic Church did during the #DarkAges, in return for political patronage & laborious loyalty, the “MASSES” are in serious trouble – for while our so-called leaders aught to empower its fellow citizens to demand what is theirs, without having to feel “INDEBTED” to any #PoLIEtician – then surely the tables are turned when government make people stoop to actually make them “BEG” for something that they most probably already are entitled to…

There is “NO LACK OF MONEY” in the system – there is a “LACK OF INTEGRITY” on the part of #PoLIEticians who “LIE”, “CHEAT” & “STEAL” to hold on to “PSEUDO-POWER” that is constrained by the fragility of life – for when diagnosed with a “TERMINAL ILLNESS”, & suddenly, the “SCAB” is yanked from the sore exposing the “SORRY-STATE OF FRAGILE HUMAN EXISTENCE”!!!

Yet you cannot make “HUMANS BELIEVE THEY ARE FRAGILE”, as this asinine notion that they are “BULLET-PROOF” – when “TIME-STAMPED” & #TimeProved, shows unequivocally that it is all a “SCAM”!!!

BEGGARS CAN NEVER BE CHOOSERS & YOUR POLIETICIANS CANNOT SAVE YOU, HEAL YOU, FEED YOU OR PROLONG YOUR LONGEVITY – THESE FOOLS ARE ALSO CUT SHORT IN THE HEYDAY OF THEIR OWN MORBID EXISTENCE

Modern life is a “MIRAGE” designed to keep the “MASSES” bewitched into not thinking about their “MORTALITY” – for most are “SNUFFED OUT” like a candle in a dark room without warning or foreknowledge!!!

WHO IS ABLE TO SAVE THEN???

Here’s a piece on “CANADA” seeing that “BRITAIN” & #AmeriKKKa are constantly on the “TIP” of my pen – endemic of the #PoLIETicalCraft being exercised in that “LIL ISLAND” called “LOS BARBADOS”!!!

THIS IS NOT FACTUAL AND WRITTEN BY SOMEONE WHO IS NOT WIDELY TRAVELED.

I HAVE SEEN IN TIJUANA MEXICO A BORDER CITY TO CALIFORNIA BEGGING ON A MASSIVE SCALE TO INCLUDE MEN, WOMEN AND CHILDREN ON AN A DAILY BASIS.

MEXICO WAS NOT COLONIZED OR HAD CHATTEL SLAVERY.

I HAVE SEEN BEGGING IN SOME STATES IN THE USA BOTH DONE BY WHITE AND BLACK.

I HAVE SEEN BEGGING ON THE STREETS OF LONDON AND BIRMINGHAM ENGLAND BY WHITES.

ENGLAND WAS NOT COLONIZED OR HAD CHATTEL SLAVERY.

  9. NINJA MAN PICTURE REMINDS ME OF 2017 BEFORE I MOVED TO THE WEST COAST CALIFORNIA AND THEN NEXT DOOR TIJUANA MEXICO FROM FLORIDA.

I MET AN ELDERLY BLACK MAN WHO WAS STAYING AT A HOMELESS SHELTER CLOSE TO A RESIDENTIAL AREA I LIVED.

HE TOLD ME FIVE DAYS A WEEK HE WOULD GO TO A BUSY STREET LOCATION CLOSE TO STORES AND HOLD UP A CARDBOARD SIGN SAYING HE WAS HOMELESS AND BEGGING FOR DONATIONS.

WITHIN 4 HOURS HE ALWAYS COLLECTED US$100 AND HE WOULD STOP FOR THE DAY. BEAR IN MIND THIS WAS ALL TAX FREE.

TO MAKE A COMPARISON SOMEONE WITH A MINIMUM WAGE JOB IN FLORIDA INCLUDING TAXES WOULD TAKE 1 AND A HALF DAYS TO EARN EQUIVALENT AT THE TIME.

HE WAS LAUGHING WHEN HE WAS TELLING ME THAT WAS HIS DAILY HUSTLE AS HE USED MOST OF THE MONEY TO BUY DRUGS TO SUPPORT HIS HABIT.

THE HOMELESS SHELTER PROVIDED FREE LIVING ACCOMMODATION FOR 6 MONTH AT A TIME ALONG WITH 3 FREE MEALS 7 DAYS A WEEK.

THE FIRST HALF OF 2024 IS GONE. WHAT IS GOING TO BE THE OUTCOME IN 2025/2026 WHEN THE FINANCIAL MARKETS ARE DRAGGED DOWN BY TOO MUCH DEBT, DEFAULTS & IMPLOSIONS IN THE BANKING SYSTEM DUE TO PERSONAL DEBT, COMMERCIAL REAL ESTATE FORFEITURE & NON-PAYMENT OF MASSIVE LOANS INCLUDING CREDIT CARDS – WITH OFFICE BUILDINGS EMPTY DUE TO WORK @ HOME CULTURE & A SLEUTH OF GRAVITAIONAL PRESSURES BEARING DOWN ACROSS THE WORLD ECONOMY

On the 80th year of #D_Day celebrated as we speak, where “DEAD MEN” do not live to tell tales & the “PRESENT WORLD ORDER” is set to fight another “GLOBAL GIGANTIC WAR” involving some 8 BILLION deaf, dumb & “BLIND” individuals – as “EVERYTHING CRASHES INTO HELL” including the “HINGES” on the #GatesOfHell (not forgetting, BILL GATES), as the entire planet is poised, primed & prepped for seismic implosion!!!

THE IST BATTALION IN THIS UPCOMING WAR WILL BE THE #god_OF_MAMMON (MONEY) that will “FALL ABRUPTLY & INCINERATE” in the trenches & open fields – making #WWII (that war that was to “END ALL WARS”), look like a day out @DISNEY!!!

POLITICO*, like most, warns that – “Britain’s next financial crash is coming. This time it won’t be the banks” – yet “BRITS” are caught up in “ELECTIONEERING FEVER” (at least the #PoLIEticians are) while the “HANDWRITING ON THE WALL” is more visible than a “BANKSY MURAL”!!!

According to Bank of England, as cited from above – “Fears are focused upon the “NON-bank financial intermediation” industry – a lengthy term covering any type of major investor which isn’t a bank, such as hedge funds, pension funds, insurers or private equity…”

I would argue that this may have some traction, however, there are too many variables at play in this space, given that the impenetrable armour of the $$$US is exposed & at serious risk according to Bloomberg et al & the “SEISMOLOGY” that is coming from several areas – notably, the “BRICS” nations – notwithstanding, “WAR ON THE KOREAN/TAIWAN PENNINSULA”; “PUTIN” LOBBING A NUKE @ WESTERN-BACKED UKRAINIAN FORCES; ARAB-ISRAELI TETE-A-TETE” leading to the cumulative fallout of “NUCLEAR ENGAGEMENT” will affect not only regional but large international behemoth banking institutions, “SHIPPING” & every other source of “CAPITALIST ENDEAVOUR”!!!

In play, are the “MOTHER-LOAD” of all mother-ships: COMMERCIAL REAL ESTATE LOANS – where “Blackstone Inc., a leading asset management giant and a prolific real estate investor has now defaulted on a $562.5 million bond backed by a portfolio of offices and stores owned by the Finnish company “SPONDA OY”. The default occurred as rising interest rates hit European property values. Blackstone had asked the bondholders for more time to pay back the debt, but they said no. As a response to that, private equity company shares decreased by 1.6%”!!!

“BlackRock acquired all of Sponda’s outstanding shares and assumed control of the company’s property portfolio. The purchase was part of BlackRock’s plan to grow its ability to invest in real estate in Europe and to get a bigger share of the Nordic market. Blackstone’s $71 billion unlisted real estate income trust (BREIT), which also “DEFAULTED”, has run into trouble…”

If the empirical evidence is anything to go by – “One of the most powerful lessons from studying 234 years of U.S. financial history is that market crashes are highly unpredictable,” says Mark J. Higgins, senior vice president at Index Fund Advisors in Portland, Oregon. One reason is that many of the worst crashes were quite literally triggered by events that were, by definition, unpredictable. For example, the Panic of 1819 traced its origins to the eruption of Mount Tambora in 1815, and the subsequent global cooling and European crop failures that followed,” Higgins says. “The Panic of 1907 traced its origins to the San Francisco earthquake of 1906, while a global pandemic caused the Panic of March 2020.”

My 3 grandsons could add up the mounting tally of 1 & 1 & arrive at #Eleven, given the “GLOBAL REACH” of the “FINANCIAL CRISES” facing the world – looming large on the visible horizon – as our #PoLIEticians continue to bloviate & “LIE* LIKE SKUNKS” – all of them pretending the glass is still half full…

BARBADOS IS EXPOSED LIKE NO OTHER TIME IN ITS LONG CHECKERED 399 YEAR HISTORY TO AN INCOMING SHOCK FOR WHICH NO BAJAN WILL HAVE AN ANSWER – MORE SO THE “STINKING LIARS” WHO CALL THEMSELVES #ServantsOfThePeople!!!

On a small, “LIL ISLAND”, 1000s can’t afford a solid meal(s) far less “PAY THEIR BILLS” properly – all the while, a minutiae of 1% of the “HOGS WHO FEED @ THE TROUGH” are living it up at the expense of the masses who are drowning in debt – living from pay-check to pay-check with 1 salary away from the Victorian Poorhouse – SOME EXISTING ON SARDINES & BISCUITS!!!

As we are discussing how successive governments have become addicted to borrowing to satisfy our demand for ‘things’, our laziness to address food security, create an effective transportation system to save on food and fuel import costs, there is the parallel shadow banking system that has emerged to add to our vulnerability as a people and nation.

  12. Foreign reserves should be earned, not borrowed. The government will boast of our capacity to borrow post 2018 which is a better position to be in, junk credit ratings impacted private sector ease to do business BUT it cannot be worn as a badge of pride by government, it sends the wrong message.

As you are on the “GROUND”, can you itemize what is being done to address these concerns & the kinda’ traction this is having with the populace – especially the “POOREST”…

My gorgeous wife is about to send some barrels of food home as she did recently (providing a “BARREL” for her schoolmate & friend #Anthony_AKA_AdmiralNelson) to help in his podcast programme where he doles out for those most in need!!!

My in-laws & out-laws are “MOANING” about the cost of everything – so thank God for “OVERSEES FAMILY” (who like those in the “AFRICAN DIASPORA”) will make sure that “MONEY” & “GOODS” reach our loved ones!!!

David, something has to be done!!!

We fed Britain with “SUGAR CANE” that made millionaires & billionaires during “SLAVERY” & “COLONIAL” times – pray tell, why we cannot feed ourselves??? DO WE BLAME THIS ON THE MONKEYS ON 4 LEGS & ON 2 LEGS???

  15. @TB

Your question is obviously rhetorical. There is a token effort to alleviate poverty and address serious cases of hardship BUT we are not doing enough to teach people how to fish because of the external pressures forcing cost of living upwards. For the average person to own a modest home they have to mortgage their souls. Food prices are high and cost of utilities which government is struggling to regulate. Note the blogmaster listed the three basic needs, food, shelter etc.

There is not significant improvement on the horizon on current trajectory.

  16. Most people on the island (excluding those who blindly follow party) want to see the country seated on a different path to give hope for a different Barbados. One that is more competitive and afford our people opportunity. At the moment we are being swept along.

  17. One does not need to be “widely travelled” to know that people of most colours and in most countries beg. There is a difference between some individuals begging and a national ethos of dependency.

P.S. I seem to remember that long, long ago, England was conquered and colonised by the Normans and the Romans, among others, though its inhabitants would not have been enslaved in quite the same way. Beside which, they have since all become one in a way that we never could.

I leave the deeper analysis for those who have the time and the inclination today. I just thought I should point out the “little” differences that make a big difference. 😊

  27. This is actually a VERY perceptive editorial from BT.

Begging and borrowing are in fact REFLECTIONS and INDICATIONS of our state of spiritual, social and physical health…. and therefore our proximity to death.

It TELLS us, conclusively, that we have not attained the state of being able to sustain our own independence.

While it is understandable that a person (or organization, or country) will pass through such a stage of ‘needing a hand’ during its early life – or after a disastrous incident, any state of ongoing begging and borrowing TELLS US that we are badly UNDER PERFORMING, and that URGENT and DRASTIC changes are required.

When we can have leaders who default to a steady-state ‘begging and borrowing’ mentality, we ought to KNOW that we are on a path to total ruin and enslavement – and the BB PEOPLE should recognize that an URGENT change of LEADERSHIP is thus required.

There are multiple precedents of formerly prosperous and happy societies than went into ruins and disappeared from history – due to misguided and idiotic leadership.

‘Barbados’ would hardly be missed when it becomes an exotic resort for the wealthy whose ‘loans’ and largess this generation of BBs have opted to enjoy – while partying and feting, …RATHER that PRODUCTIVELY earning our independence in this world of unlimited opportunities, and paving a way for our children to shine even brighter.

Perhaps it is a good thing that so few children are being produced – to suffer the consequences of our laziness and ineptness.

    What a place
    what a curse
what a reversal ..from ‘blessed’ to beggars..

What a laugh hearing BT talk about mendicancy when its promoted daily in their stories. But why are you calling my name when I haven’t even commented? It is a fact though that BT is often off with its poorly researched pieces and I’m not easily impressed. Doubt me? Go read the back page of their 31 May edition then Tuesday’s frontpage.

  31. The mentality of Ralph Thorne does not represent the sine qua non.

After listening to this his press conference and following developments since he crossed the floor.

Even when he is recognized as intelligent, as 11-plus boys go, there is not even a semblance of what the future for the country is to be should he be the elected dictator.

Of course, his deliveries are always well-laced with references to the Barbados of his childhood. Certainly anachronisms about church going and village life or a dated moral ethos have no relationships to either the present or future beyond curiosity. The kind of thing one looks for in a museum.

This writer has never been persuaded that his narratives represent reality. Not within a context of colonialism, exploitation and capitalism. There was a time when Thorne had read enough critical histories to know better.

Having known this man for decades, to see him return to a post slavery past as the definition of the future is both troubling and determinative.

Troubling because this past has largely informed our present, to our detriment. And determinative because there is not even a hint of a narrative which goes beyond the mundane and captures a different future.

As a result, this DLP will do, in the unlikely event it overturns previous heavy loses, nothing different than what has always happened – more of the same!

And the doupoly keeps on going with Thorne as a good Christian soldier, marching as if to war, with the cross of Serapis going on before.

  32. Ouch! To be fair to RAT his thinking aligns with most on BU. Obsolescent! But the BU intelligentsia don’t mind me, I’m yardfowl singing fuh muh supper according to them.

  34. LOL @ NO at 12:16pm
    Sorry no.
    Bushie cannot claim authorship.

You done know that the bushman would have published via BU not BT.

Those BT editors are not as forward thinking as our David…
They would have changed the title to say the opposite to the piece, and taken out all of Bushies “BB” and “shiite” references…

No one would then bother to read it afterwards…

  35. @Enuff

  36. I find myself unable to add to any of the ongoing discussions. What can I now say that I have not said before?

I would like to think that I have avoided the verbal gymnastic that some have engaged in. I have seen them some lightly touch ‘the horse’, vault right over the problems, do a double turn in the air and then land without taking a single hop. Excellent execution and a perfect 10 but the problems remain as they were before the gymnast take the stage – untouched.

Truly, I enjoy the contribution of several bloggers, but we are well past the point where words can save us. I fear that we are even past the point where the actions of anyone can save us.

It is funny, but not surprising, that at this moment where the need for action is greatest we have decided to be led with a ‘wordsmith’. “Sweet nothings, big and bold promises with new shiny initiatives” cries the electorate. And our greatest actor takes the stage and delivers “the nothings” that the crowd demands.

Forgive me, if I have not touched on any of the problems but where would I begin? Savvy? Joes river?

  37. I find it amazing that some would think of a third 30-0. This reminds me of the frog in the pot of water where the temperature is raised slightly and the frog is cooked without ever making a move.

We survived at 30 degrees (30-0), we are now at 60 degrees (61-0) and the water is already very uncomfortable. I can assure you that one person who is not volunteering to be in the pot at 90 degrees (91-0) is me. 90-0 might be historic, but it is also tragic.

Will our history be one of a people who adjusted the temperature to a point where they cannot survive? As a young man I was enamored with Greek mythology. Will we soon hear of Barbadian mythology? Are we a modern Sisyphus? Do we hold elections ever so often and at the end of it we find ourselves in the same position (or worse) as we were before the elections (at the bottom of the hill).

What choices do we have? The lesser of two evils? A choice between incompetence and corruption or corruption and incompetence? If as we claim “God is a Bajan” then why has he punished us so harshly. “Mene, mene, tekel”

Savvy? Joes River? Interesting you raised these two when your positions on the two matters are diametrically opposite.

  39. A private citizen position/opinion/promise cannot be compared with or held to same standard as those who are on the stage as a world popular leader.

Sometime, in the 1980s, we went into a gas station and struck a conversation, with the attendant. We learned that he had 7 O’LEVELS and 2 A’Levels. He said that was all he could find to do with his qualifications. Even back then, we surmised that things would only get worse. In the 70s , a mere decade before, some of us entered the public service with less than 5 O’LEVELS !
Today, our children with Bachelors and Masters are looking toward Kennedy airport ! Pretty talk and party sychophancy , have never been synomous with vision. Such easily obtained characteristics , have never taken a country anywhere.
Anybody could have seen where we were heading.
The archives of both traditional media and new media , including blogs and BU, are living proof, that we were conned or fooled into believing that there was some new and vibrant leadership on the horizon and we could borrow money and just brag about foreign reserves and fantastic sounding projects, that apparently are now all in a state of limbo.
All the apologists have suddenly become nationalistic and are so frigging embarrassed, that we can only read their diatribe about putting Barbados first and aske if they are the same people who knew all the answers and were capable of putting Bim on the right path.
Better that we admit that we were twicked by the BLPDLP and move on……..save the damn crocodile tears. “In this poker” we are the jokers.
Can’t plant okra and reap pepper.

Let all agree the duopoly has us in a gridlock. Move on to what though. How do we achieve what you are asking because many are still feeding on the koolaid.

That is a LOT of money. Concessional means many things, rate, term, grace period, climate/weather clause etc If the Minister emphasized Concessional why the france didn’t somebody ask him exactly what was concessional. The fourth estate continues to disappoint.

  43. Concessional means easy access to money, it doesn’t matter that might be conditioned on a variable rate clause or other onerous ones found in the micey print.

    We think that we need eight good enlightened citizens , to begin canvassing for the next elections. hre is the suggestion ;
    One will run agaist the PM;
    One will run against whoever is the Leader of the Opposition;
    Two will run in rural constituencies;
Three will run in St. Michael
One will run in Christ Church.
The object is to win a number of seats and create positive disruption in Parliament.
The people will be told they are voting to have new voices, who will be direct threats to the BLPDLP. If successful, this would be a start to getting rid of the BLPDLP.
We believe that the masses will be responsive to this new approach.
Conclusion : Rather than bring a third party , this approach may be better because it will not appear that they are seeking power to run the government or even to become the opposition but just to give the people a new dynamic voice and see where it goes from there.

    You can say THAT again.
Which is correct, the 3/4 Million in the title? …or the 3/4 BILLION in the article?

If this does not STICK OUT to the journalist and editors at BT, ..do you think that they can appreciate the import of ‘concession’ details..?

Brass Bowls have overwhelmed the damn place…
There’s no point in bypassing any one of them… there are PLENTY more ahead, beside, and behind us – awaiting our donkeys

    What a place!
    What a turn-around from just 50 years ago…!
    What a curse!!
