Baltimore is listed as the largest city in the State of Maryland, the largest independent city and the 26th most populous city in the USA. Of note is that greater than 60% of the population is Black followed by about 29% White. In the wake of Freddie Gray’s funeral – yet another Black man to die in police custody under questionable circumstances – rioting and other violent behaviour has placed the city under siege. The question onlookers are asking – is this a bunch of stupid Black people inappropriately expressing themselves? Is this a bunch of Black people with just concerns about race relations in America today? Is it ignorance and just concerns commingling?

You are very much on point. The police know who to push around. There was a dispute between the NYPD and the Jews in Williamsburg some time back, and a crowd march into the police precinct and physically tore it apart. No one in the crowd was injured or prosecuted. More recently there was a dispute between NYPD officers and a Rabbi in the same area, and on hearing the news a group of the Rabbi’s supporters torched and overturned a police cruiser. Again, not a person in the group was injured or prosecuted.
It is a little know fact that police units from many state in the USA are sent to Israel for special training, so it should not come as a surprise when U.S. citizens are treated like Palestinians in the Gaza. -

i am reading all these dumb a,ss comments about what the blacks did after the aftermath,, but nobody seems to really care about what brought these mass riots into fruitionand onto the streets ..so far a number of black men have been killed at the hands of murderous police officers without justification. and it seems like some here brings to table a pretentious attitude and a view of not wanting to take a close look at the bigger picture,, until a police officer is convicted and sentence to life imprisonment or a judicial process that delivers fair and equal justice for these horrendous illegal acts of murder the blacks would openly advocate and deliver their own form of justice no matter who and where it hurts, that is the bottom line these riots are a manifestation of an american judicial system gone wrong and which now have become socially and political unacceptable among lower class blacks and whereby a segment of america society have blinded their eyes and who sees nothing wrong with blacks being hunted and gunned down in the street by a racist system , asked those who are condemning the riots why no justice for these murdered blacks ,they always have a tripe answer like ..black on black crime is epidemic ,,,in other words So what if another black is killed it really doesn’t matter! these are the lawsons and others who believe that justice should only be dispensed on those whose actions seem cancerous and out of favor with society norms and such actions should be eradicated by the slamming of the tongue against these street rioters .. but not really seeing or avoiding the bigger picture one of a call for help . there are somethings in life that are wrong but against a drop back of inequality and injustice, there are somethings that are absolutely right,

It has nothing to do with west Baltimore or this particular corner in Baltimore. This can erupt anywhere in socio-economic deprived America.”
He went on to criticize the media for its lazy analysis of what is happening in his city before cutting his interview short with the reporter.

This has been a powder keg in waiting, the Baltimore PD has been torturing black people for a long time ( and getting away with it). The City has paid over 5 million in settlements since 2011 to people who sued for brutality despite limiting individual awards to $200,000 for municipalities.

You are not special and better than anyone that is my point.
I have 3 children, one graduated Cambridge University with a Masters Degree, the other two go to so called top schools in Barbados.
That does not make me special that makes me a parent.
We cannot speak for these people as we are not walking in their shoes daily.
Like I have said I have experienced racist police profiling throughout the US and I WAS BREAKING NO LAWS.
With one white cop in the South pulling me over and trying to plant evidence which I was able to have dealt with with a good attorney because I did’t bow down to him when he pulled me over unlawfully because I was driving a new expensive car
So in some ways I can identify with some of their complaints and I have never lived in a ghetto in the US but in Suburbs.

I made reference to myself and my children same way as you did yours to signify that what we may see as normal through our telescope/vision may not be the same for others.
They are many in US ghettos who see no hope, schools have failed them (tax payer $$), high high disproportionate unemployment, corrupt police etc.
The world that I live in I don’t see black any nationality, I identify as one race.

David, I see we are back to the same debate again on whether looting is right or wrong. Did you not call this earlier today: it’s the same stupid, tired and (to borrow the word from earlier) asinine analysis.
Let’s focus on sensible discourse. We all know that looting can never be right.
David, there is no possibility that the ‘systemic problem” of socio-economic and race relations in inner cities, suburbs or wherever in US can be fixed asap. NONE.
The simple fact that there is a Black President and Black AG and too a Black Supreme Court Justice etc etc is a clear indication that the issue is not about intelligence or lack of opportunity per se.
It’s about an entrenched way of behavior by both blacks and whites which will not be resolved until the Blacks in those communities plagued by drugs and poor social and educational skills stand up and fully embrace Martin’s dream (50 years later) or in more modern parlance to Michael’s song “Man in the Mirror”. –“I see the kids in the streets; With not enough to eat…I’m starting with the man in the mirror; I’m asking him to change his ways…”
Until whites stop the inherent hate like the high-school teacher who told her students “If your parents voted for Obama, they’re evil and I don’t see how your parents could vote for someone that’s Muslim,”
Like the two cops caught on video camera in 2011 punching and kicking a black 17 year old kid in an alleyway outside their precinct after he’d been processed for a disorderly conduct charge. Simply because they could and didn’t like what he had said.
Long will this last.
A lot has been done and more will be done to improve it but it’s like cancer: there are excellent strides to eradicate and to provide care but we are a long way from a cure.
