  4. How about you Baf?

  5. Why is Barbados Free Press not carrying this, what happened to them?

  6. Me David …? … I fightin’ it again … dis time it directed at me … but you mus’ ah laugh enough already … so let dah one be. Look, they are a couple of people with a whole lot of access to the airwaves who are extremely good at self promotion (to a stupid population) and enjoy making a living from it. Frustrating as shite, but they are succeeding in impressing a whole lot of people … stupse

  7. @Baf

The problem with our social commentators is that they believe they have to be a jack of all issues. Afra, correctly so, has become scholarly about the issue of corruption especially with public finances.

  8. Here is a piece about emailgate which is unraveling in T&T. This can easily be anywhere nowadays so don’t feel insulated.

    When the script fits

The corruption is now so comprehensive, from top to bottom, that we’re likely to find no institution, no agency and, simply, no one to lead us to the truth about emailgate. As with Section 34, chasing red herrings will keep us bazodee and alienated from the singular pursuit of truth, sinking us deeper into the twilight zone of unreality and uncertain truth.

Even the spiders are now trapped by their own webs of deceit.

The frightening thing about emailgate is not whether or not the conversations actually happened—that we might never know—but that, in this country, it could very well have happened. Public life is so sordid, so unchecked by ethics and so ruled by the principle of “by any means necessary”, that only a blind loyalist would be foolish enough to place any of the principals, Partnership or PNM, on any plane above suspicion.

  9. Our social Barbadian social commentators, have mastered the art of “swivel phrasing” ( (c) BAFBFP 2013), that is commenting in such a way that the direction of the sentiment is dependent on the interpreter. As a result it becomes virtually impossible to pin them down to a specific opinion, unless of course forming the opinion will not offend those who contribute directly to paying their bills.

The most obvious example of this is when they use the word “We” .. eg “We need to understand that when we hand out contracts without due process we are committing fraud ..” They have accused NO one specifically and so they have said little to bring attention to anything but a very general and already established issue. If a party hack accuses them of targeting politicians they would claim that they could easily be referring to public servants … and so on.

These commentators will always claim of course that they have to protect their license, as though in Barbados pulling a license from an established media house can actually take place … give mah a break … do

  10. “These commentators will always claim of course that they have to protect their license…….”

What the hell do you want the people to say instead Baffy?
…after you David and Amused gone and mash up the reputation and mystique of the so-called Court system bout here, ..they can no longer continue with the ‘sub judice’ nonsense that used to work so very well…

In fact, Bushie has a theory that the massive backlog of cases in our courts is no accident, but is the methodology used to stifle discussion in the (good old) Pre-BU days….

…..A big-up “diverts some funds”; .. brings a ‘case’ against a fellow (accomplice) who raises an eyebrow at a cocktail party….ABBRA CADABRA! The matter is sub judice and not a boy can mention it until the case is finished…..in 25 years LOL…

“…we license may get tek way” sounds a lot better than ” we frighten as shiite, cause we ain’t got balls like Alfa R….”

  11. @Baffy

Did you hear Afra describing the media blind spot?

  12. David………….apparently the stream got cut off.

  13. I listening .. but the stream get cut for a while ..

I just read your comment … Look if the media people are scared as shite, fine. My beef is that they give the public a completely different image and the public sucks it up … It pisses me off. There is one fella that is referred to as a “great” journalist, and when ever he is asked to investigate a matter since he has resources at his disposal, his public and rehearsed response “no if you want the information you spend the time and get it”

  15. @ Baffy
That “great” journalist is typical of what has happened in Barbados over the last 20 – 25 years. Mediocracy floating to the top.

He is not really a bad fellow, but he really is not out of the top drawer (….hard as it is for him to realize). His grasp on many issues is pedestrian at best, …and if you have interacted with him socially you will appreciate that he is no Alfa.

In the land of the blind, a one eyed man is revered….but his vision is still limited and compromised.

The BIG Question is, ….what is it that has brought us to the point where our REALLY bright people are distracted into doing shite (trying to make as much money as possible or chase as many nooksies as possible) while leaving the critical roles of leadership to second rate Freundies, Adriels and Marstons?

…you know the answer or you want Bushie to tell you…? 🙂

  16. Bush Tea

If can avoid engaging in a soliloquy that draws heavily on the acceptance of spirituality, and confine the phrasing to that which can be grasped by the simple at heart, I’ll be all earrs
