How many more pleas must go unanswered? How much longer must we furl deaf ears? It should be a foregone conclusion by now that the present Barbados economy is about to stall, flat line even, if something drastic is not done by the current administration to revive the patient, who being in the ICU for sometime now, will soon be at a point of no return.

Barbados is in need of a stimulus injection to restart commercial activity and encourage consumers to spend. Not a $600 million stimuli towards capital projects and public works that will inevitable once more find its way feeding certain “big guts horse,’ but a package that will see the now sleeping money multiplier re-engaged. What’s the sense in commercial activity staggering while boasting of  lush green pastures of 16 weeks in foreign reserves on the other end?

Common sense must be exercised while being frugal, given desperate opportunity cash is needed in circulation to kick start the economy. Was it not the President of the BCCI Mr. Lalu Vaswani  during a recent pixel, who renewed the disinter call for the removal of a now arguable 2.5 % increase Vat? His rationale as with many others …. once short term taxation has become regressive, it must be removed, in hope of  re-gearing consumer spending power and encouraging employers to re-hire.

When construction magnate COW Williams has indicated that even his wages bill is not inexhaustible, and workers must be trimmed, when many small business premises in Bridgetown are closing daily (dropping like flies) and landlords are being accused of festering exorbitant rent, then is the time to reconsider your Medium Term Fiscal Plan (MTFP.  Is it really working?

To repudiate courts certain folly and does nothing but become dogma and infuriate the situation even more. It is time to take off the blinkers and be more receptive. We are not sitting it out as some would have it, but more like awaiting an inevitable avalanche. Time to take evasive action is now.

    Euro zone business downturn points to deeper recession in second-quarter: PMI

    The euro zone’s business downturn dragged on in April, suggesting the region may be falling deeper into recession this quarter, business surveys showed on Monday.

    The purchasing managers indexes (PMIs) also showed that Germany is now suffering a contraction in business activity that has long dogged France, Italy and Spain.

    Markit’s Eurozone Composite PMI, which gauges activity across thousands of companies and is seen as a good gauge of economic conditions, edged up in April to 46.9 from 46.5 in March, marking an improvement on an initial reading of 46.5.

    But the index has now been below the watershed 50 level that divides growth from contraction for over a year, and April’s reading was far lower than those seen in January and February.

    Instead of pulling down onions and me every time we reveal what we hear, you need to tell us whether what we hear is true defend your party. Tell us if the NIS fund has been drained to the point where the MOF took 100 million out of the Severance Fund, if the Governor of the Central Bank had to resort to buying money of lesser quality because the country is broke and if massive layoffs are ominous as per the mouth of the 5&10 man.

    “Mr. Wernet gave a short report on what exactly happened but emphasized that not all details are yet available. “A few minutes before five, there were shots fired at Marie Pampoen Beach. Mr. Helmin Wiels was fatally shot. Medical assistance was in vain. When the official police doctor arrives he confirmed the death of Mr. Wiels,’ Wernet said. “A petition goes to the whole community to please report any information you might have on this incident which could help authorities solve the case. Please call 911, 866-6124 or the anonymous line 108,” Wernet concluded. The Public Prosecution’s Office started immediately with the investigation. Senior Prosecutor, De Jong, said that all legal resources will be used to solve this case and bring justice to those who committed this horrendous act.”

    Since before elections, the Minister of Energy has held off the monthly raising of energy prices, now they are back. Has the Minister of Finance been again dipping into BNOC’s profits, hence the need for an increase?

    The Minister also stated when asked about Almond that he wanted to remind people that Almond is a private company. But how could this government put it in the Throne Speech for the poor GG to read about …..my government will reopen Almond and create a thousand jobs. Liar, Liar, Liar.

    Is the House scheduled to meet tomorrow? Isn’t it ironic that the same PM and DLP yardfowls who were getting their knickers in a terrible twist because OSA did not go to the poor rakey House sessions are now themselves running from the House?

    Is that alpha buffoon of a liar at it again? If Almond is a private company what was (past tense) Four Seasons? Wasn’t CLICO a Trinidadian owned and controlled private company (Alvin Cummins can confirm)? Yet both he and the PM guaranteed to policyholders the return of (at least) the principal component of their investments.
    Is this deceitfully lying party passing as a fraudulent administration now backing away from this pre-election commitment?
    During the last Estimates debate that liar also stated that the Four Seasons takeover by private sector interests was just but a hair’s breadth away from completion. This is almost 6 weeks and the hair has become even bigger than his own big guts rivalling his lying dirty motor mouth.
    The miller is not on the ground so you need to keep us inform as Parliament is scheduled to return from recess on the 7th May.

    The article on the back page of today’s issue of the BarbadosToday does not make happy reading for many Bajans today. Is the IMF’s warning a public confirmation of what the Minister of Finance has in store for the poor people of a once proud country but saddled with a stupidly incompetent lying disaster prone administration?

    We shall soon see if both he and his sycophant governor of a failing bank would be brave enough this time and tell the IMF and its credit rating agencies foot soldiers to carry their mothers’ honey pot and leave Barbados alone. After all, “we is Bajans and God is one of we!”
    Oh Lord, the silence of the PM is deafening! Or is he telling us to ignore everything and it will all go away by the time the world economy picks back up.

    The miller is willing to bet that before the end of this year there will be many layoffs in the public sector starting with the statutory corporations and agencies along with temporary staff in the mainstream civil service. The poor ordinary folks who are not responsible for the pending hardships will be the easy targets and the hardest hit to carry the burden brought about by purposely executed fiscal irresponsibility.

    The lies that men tell can be temporarily hidden with their fossilised bones but the truth can never be concealed from the light of inevitable revelation. Time to pay the Piper, Bajans.

    The issue regardless of which party won the election would have been pain and anger management.

    It is like the race horse owners like COW selling their horses now because they have been losing money for the last 15 years and can’t continue subsidize their expensive hobby.

    Barbados will suffer because all it depends on is an inflow of money from external sources. The sources are drying up and a new economy will have to be developed.

    There will be a lot of pain before there is any gain.

    I applaud the international agencies for making sure the media gets a report of what transpires behind closed doors, or the taxpayers will only get more lied………given the upbeat mood of party followers yesterday, if we were gullible, we would have thought that the best news was around the corner instead of news of an impending financial collapse. I am always suspicious when i see politicians (PM) holding babies, there is always something more in the mortal than the pestle…………and with Sinckler’s words of nonsense, one had to be really careful……………maybe after the crash and inevitable climb again we will see things of this nature………..

    Carson……………..look at the bright side, when you hit bottom the only direction you can go is up, but you must hit bottom first………that is nothing to be ashamed of, most countries are expected to hit bottom very shortly. If you read the IMF report, because of the islands’ total dependency on tourism, they are the ones more at risk of negative fall-out from stringent measures and major reforms (the last two were Sinckler’s words, not mine). Total dependency on tourism is the catalyst for major damage to the island’s financial system.

    MoneyBrain……….there is no way the politicians in Bim will want to admit that remittances are now their #1 money earner……………they hate the idea……….they prefer boast of tourism even though it makes them look foolish……………..a friend of mine had a running argument with one pol regarding remittances already, they do not want to give Bajans who live abroad credit for anything, bring your money and get lost is their idea of the treatment meted out to returning bajans.

    I for one would like to see the Integrity Legislation in our life time, see ministers audited to see who owns what and how they got it……would love to see some locked up cause i know they are nothing more than common criminals………………..after that i would consider sending in the $1,000.00 cause as long as you have your National ID, you do get medical attention at the QEH………but they have a long way to go.

Maybe if you say the Minister is planning a visit to the junk yard to find lost bonds it might be more to the “simple” point. Maybe during his recent trip to Britain he held talks with the “BAA” people about taking over the management of GAIA under an operational lease arrangement/agreement proposal.

    Poor boy, he is now realising this MoF job is way above his intellectual pay grade and competence threshold. The party is over and the hangover is beginning to kick in for the poor lying geyser. And to think there is not much to choose from to take over the job is rather frightening. He gets very little support or sounding-board guidance from his Cabinet “colleagues”. Do you think the bright Senator Jepter the Clown Prince of physical defecation is waiting in the wings for the inevitable fall of the Godzilla lookalike buffoon?

    He, the “gorillafoon”, has his head up his own wide ass and deep in shit this time around. Never mind the blue ass flies circling to land, he plans (unbeknownst to himself) to make history by being the first MoF to oversee the fall of the sacred cow called the Bajan dollar. Let him start with a further massive “internal” devaluation, circa 20 %.
