i have followed this story and was overwhelmed by the support and respect the american black community showed for the martin family without this kind of support this injustice would have been swept under the rug and george zimmerman would have been walking scotch free , strenght comes in numbers and in this case the black community did not hesitate to show such strength.

In deciding to hold up the two victims the murderer profiled them as “crackers” based on their colour.

What racial profiling what?
Racial profiling, in the context in which it is normally used, refers to a rush to judgement by police or other authority figures on the activities or likely actions of individuals based on their racial characteristics. It is not an assessment by an individual of the race of another individual or even on predicting what another individual might or might not do in a certain situation based on his or her race. Would you assess as racial profiling an attempt by tourism planners to be able to predict the spending habits of our visitors based on their race?
Deleterious action resulting from racial profiling is a key element of the term. The effects of racial profiling is typically uncalled for actions by a powerful authority group using a racial profile to condemn, mistreat or disadvantage an individual without due process. That is not evident in your example.

I have heard almost everything from almost everyone. The stand your own law is seriously flawed. Trayvon Martin was preyed upon by an over zealous neighbourhood watchman who felt that a gun in his pocket made him powerful. Part of that scenario was that Trayvon happened to be black and that he appeared to be a stranger in town. Were it a white person the results would have been different I believe.
I believe what made it worst was how the authorities handled the incident. They were very quick to cite the stand your ground rule even though there was evidence to prove that Zimmerman was warned to desist from following Trayvon Martin. When Zimmerman chose to ignore that warning the scenario changed dramatically. Trayvon Martin had every right to confront Zimmerman as to why he was being followed. A fight ensured and Trayvon became another dead victim. Trayvon Martin was standing his ground and was killed because of it and not the other way around.

One bright young man suggested that Black males should change their image to avoid the racial profiling while another said that he didn’t want to change his image but wanted to change how white people looked at Black people. Stereotyping is very common human trait and occurs in all races including the descendants of African ancestry. How can they go about changing that stereotype? Can they change it?

Strictly speaking, if wikipedia is to be believed, racial profiling cannot be said to have existed in either case because neither Messrs Zimmerman nor Tyson were part of “law enforcement”.
The fact that Mr. Zimmerman is a neighbourhood watch captain does not make him part of law enforcement just as the fact that Mr. Tyson is enforcing the law of the jungle doesn’t make him a part of law enforcement.
I would suggest that the use of the position of Mr. Zimmerman by the press and others is to somehow give legitimacy to the claim that he could be viewed as a part of law enforcement and hence racial profiling existed.
I am showing that applying the logic to Mr. Tyson that he and his buddies who surveilled the two british tourists as they entered their neighbourhood and discussed their options via communication links shows they were also functioning as a neighbourhood watch and had profiled their victims based on their race before pulling them over.
Do you realise that if wikipedia’s definition of racial profiling is applied and Mr. Zimmerman is not a member of law enforcement that the media fluff around the whole issue evaporates and the residue is the real problem … the gun ….. and a failure to communicate?
If you go back to the 911 call, you will also see that the key factor for Mr. Zimmerman which alerted his attention was not race at all … but the behaviour of Trayvon Martin.
… and up till then he did the right thing, call 911 and report suspicious activity.

The “stand your ground “law was written with an intent to target a certain race of people.those who wrote such a law did not at all care about the ramifications there intent was to send a harsh and unrealistic message this law should have been called “the vigalante law” because it has a builtin racial overtone of targetting minorties most of whom are black based on the notion of statics.Which zoe and others are calling verifiable facts.

Zimmerman was acting in an unofficial law enforcement capacity. He called the police for advice and then proceeded to ignore that advice.
It also seems that you forgot that you tried to equate the two cases as racial profiling in your first post. I think you may also have seen from the wikipedia definition that you were wrong and that my definition made without reference to any dictionary, was right.

Zimmerman was acting in an unofficial law enforcement capacity. He called the police for advice and then proceeded to ignore that advice.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++Next time you come into contact with a law enforcement officer (particularly in the US) ask under what circumstances a member of the public can act unofficially in that officer’s capacity!!!!!!
I don’t think there is sufficient evidence available to say that Mr. Zimmerman ignored the advice of the 911 operator!!
There is the distinct possibility that Trayvon Martin jumped him and events unfolded.
I am not sure the stand your ground rule applies.
If Mr. Zimmerman approached Trayvon Martin provocatively that is not standing your ground.
On the other hand if Trayvon Martin jumped Mr. Zimmerman it becomes a matter of self defence … but I really don’t know much about law.
We will see what we will see.
I purposely and blindly applied the flawed logic that was being bandied about to both cases to see what resulted.
I then checked to see if there was an actual definition which could be used and lo and behold …. eureka!!
My conclusion given the definition is that anytime you hear racial profiling used in the Zimmerman case disregard it and look for real facts.
The term is being purposely used to mislead.

John you are using hypothetical reasoning and unconfirmed information , the Facts are: Trayvon is DEAD! George zimmerman had no proof or evidence or caused to believe that Trayvon was in the area to commit a crime or engaging in a crime or was a danger to anyone, and if so george zimmerman should have related such knoweldge to the police. He did not and took the law in his own hands based on a perception and profiling plain and simple as this case proceeds the suggestion made by you that george was trying to defend himself is going to back fire because it could be that Trayvon was trying to defend himself against an armed george Zimmerman.afterall Trayvon only weapon of self defense was a bag of skittles which undoubtedly going to play a very important role in Trayvon;s defense. I am referring to the 911 call which went like this before it was edited.
Zimmerman: “This guy looks like he’s up to no good. Or like he’s on drugs or something. It’s raining and he’s just walking around, looking about.”
911 dispatcher: “OK, and this guy … is he black, white or Hispanic?”
Zimmerman: [pauses] “He looks black.”
Based on the above NBC apologised for editing the tape and fired a reporter.
Nothing hypothetical about the editing, apology or dismissal!!
Interestingly the term racial profiling was used in the article above but it is clear that it was the 911 operator who introduced race, Mr Zimmerman was more concerned about the suspicious activity.

george zimmerman was asked a series of questions to which his reply was suggestive based on no proof. all he had to say to the operator that there was a suspicious looking guy. nothing more .the fact that he had all of theses preconceived thoughts going around in his mind and outwardly stated them goes to george zimmemans state of mind ;like in :What was he thinking” and all it is going to take is a ualified clinical psychologist to tear this case apart to show that george was indeed using “racial profiling” from the get go. his statements to the operate speaks volumes about georges state of mind before the encounter also notice the operator asking for information about the ethnicity did not ask about one race she asked about others as well. so she in essence was doing her job.

I have lived in neighbourhoods in areas of Florida and have visited friends in gated communities also in Florida.
People are either in their houses or in their cars going somewhere.
It is totally different from Barbados where it is perfectly normal to see people walking about doing nothing.
People walking about in the neighbourhoods I have lived in or visited are either jogging or walking a dog or moving between house and car …. and they do it briskly and it is clear they belong.
By Bajan standards it is unnatural!!
You do not see people just walking about.
When you do it is with a purpose which is pretty easy to discern.
Maybe the explanation for Trayvon Martin just walking about was as simple as he was lost.
He was there after all visiting.

As we are discussing the USA and you have all the statistics at your beck and call, could you also inform us of the percentage of Black unemployment vs. White unemployment; Could you tell me why there is a disparity in the penalties for Crack (a drug predominately used by Blacks) vs. the penalties for powdered Cocaine or Crystal Meth or Ecstasy (primarily used by Whites).

John give it up. For better or worse the case is in the hands of the prosecutors let them do the investigation which was so sadly lacking at the outset of the incident. None of your red herrings about 2 British tourists who were shot by a black thug (He didn’t escape justice did he?) or your outlandish theory about Trayvon being lost applies here.
You made an interesting statement:

Why didn’t you also reproduce the part of the conversation when Zimmerman said words to the effect that “they always get away”.
