Former Chairman of the NAB and BLP Supporter

“Given the Democratic Labour Party’s propensity to self-implode (whether in Government or Opposition) and compounded by the level of indiscipline and mistrust now evident within its ranks – the ruling Party will most certainly have to call general election very soon in order to prevent increased warfare within its ranks.”

Already tensions are high. The Dems have simply lost sight of why they were elected and seem to be putting their personal interest before the interest of Barbados. And so, the bitter struggle for power continues.

But while the Dems battle among themselves to see who gets priority access to the fatted calf and to feed at the trough, the rest of the society are left to wonder – exactly where is the “Pathway to Progress“ the DLP promised. BARP members are also wondering what have they done the DLP, that it has implemented a policy that prevents them from getting back the money they invested in Clico. No one expected that having been asked to pay a 60% increase in water rates, that the taps would be dry or there would be so many water outages! There is also great disappointment that the 2000 houses the DLP promised to build every year for the next five year, are not being built and yet the DLP is claiming success in its so-called housing programme.

How is the DLP transforming this society to meet the needs of Barbadians when so many are losing their jobs daily; businesses are closing and crime is on the increase? What type of society does the DLP purport to be building when it cannot even build the road at Boarded Hall or at Coral Ridge?

Wasn’t the DLP’s priority number one, two and three – to reduce the cost of living? Did they not promise to reduce the VAT on electricity bills? Why can’t Barbadians get their Income Tax refunds for two years now? Weren’t we told that Barbados does not have a cash flow problem? Then why can’t senior citizens get their pension cheques to buy a tin of sardines, since that is all many of them can afford, especially since this cruel DLP has already cut the vote of the Welfare Department by $5 million and the vote of the National Assistance Board by $2 million?

Why is it now flooding in areas that never flooded before? Where is the Financial Service Authority legislation the DLP promised to implement by the first quarter of this year? Where is the Rent Control Act? Where is the much-touted Tourism Master-Plan that is supposed to be the centerpiece of this administration’s tourism development efforts? Where is the small hotels specific incentive package that was to continue the work started by the BLP to shore up this segment of the industry?

What is the status of the overhaul and upgrading of the Tourism Development Act the BLP articulated before it left office? How many rooms have the DLP built since January 15th 2008 and what about the plan to expand the luxury tourism market and to construct and open a major internationally-branded five star hotel every two years?

After nearly three years in office, where is the Cruise Ship Pier and facility that the DLP said it will build in the North? Where are the Marinas, the DLP promised to build, to attract Yachts?

A man in this county who is being paid $155,000 of our tax dollars annually – boasts that he is also (while being paid a full-time salary by the GOB) working for five other regional Governments, yet this same DLP Government, which gave him that sweetheart deal – now bellyaches that it cost $52,000 per year to dialyse one person at the QEH and $100,000 a month for the QEH to outsource the dialysis service.

Imagine! The DLP wrote-off $19 million for the Barbados Turf Club and gave a company that it said was sound, well managed and well regulated, $20 million but is now twisting the arms of poor people who cannot afford to pay the QEH.

When the ruling Party promised “change” no one expected that it had intended to save Barbadians from enjoying a high quality of life and standard of living. But it took the DLP less than two years to create a fiscal disaster and a political nightmare in this country.

More than two years in office and the DLP has not fulfilled its promise of hope and change, neither has it been able to reduce the cost of living or ease grid-lock on our roads. In fact, since it came to office, prices have increased by over 12%. Barbadians are growing impatient! They know that the DLP has lost sight of what is important to them, as well as why it was elected to office. It is time to “change” to something better: competent Government and to what actually works for Barbados. Team BLP therefore Stands Ready to Serve.

This charge of padding the internal BLP election result that is directed towards, Owem, George Dale and Hallam opens up a can of worms and leaves many questions unanswered.

If this group are prepared to pad an internal election result to achieve a result in their favour why should we trust them and two who can say with any confidence that both Dale and George would not have done the same padding in the 2008 election to keep themselves in their seat and we all remember both candidates complaining at the election about actions by both of these candidates that was questionable, I think we have the answer here today that if the would pad an interal BLP voting matter that they would pad a National election result.

Can you pull this thread and put it to the top again?

“Before I go on I must tell you a bit of myself with reference to Mia. My mother Angela Cole and Mia’s mom and dad, Eliot and Amor, were the best of friends, when I was a boy. Amor would hold great parties and I grew always overhearing my mom and Amor, who is not a Mottley, having long conversations on the phone, as friends do, and they were very close friends, so much so that I came to regard Amor as some kind of mother removed. She was a very loving caring woman, and I suppose she still is today, and what I say is in no means disrespect to her or my mother, to which I have for personal reasons come to a kind of falling out, but this is politics and this is the nation.

That was before my mothers fall from grace, which was just the result of my mother wanting out of some horrible nasty things. Carlton Brathwaithe, who was my mom’s partner, and lived together as man and wife, and through his divorce from his first wife, asked my mother many times to marry him, but she wouldn’t, and who I regarded as a father, is a very amoral man. And this hurts to say from a boy who considered him a father to a man who treated me as a son.

People may not know Carlton Brathwaithe and all the schemes he dreamed up with Roll, because that was a different time, but when people mention Errol, I see a different person, we lived with him in our house, know one of his two sisters well, and the woman he lived his last 17 years with remained a close friend and confidant of my mother, the Belgium expat Jeanine Chipalato. Errol would always lately quarrel with Jeanine, after my mothers fall from grace, for talking to Angela, he considered my mother a close friend turn nemesis, the worse kind of enemy, but my mom could track his every move – he would step out the house and Jeanine would call my mother. So I know the DLP party process intimately, and was always close to the DLP, and naturally see why I would support David, but this is how it relates to Mia, dating back to when she first got involved in politics. But first the story begins with Mia’s grandfather, Ernest Deighton Mottley.

I think there is more political experience coursing in the genes of Mias blood than the whole of the BLP put together. She is the man who would be king, and sometimes belief and conviction count more than ability, acumen, and intelligence. I am not saying the BLP are stupid, but Mia is making up her own mind, to do what her grandfather couldn’t do, and that is take over and destroy the BLP of Grantley Adams. That doesn’t mean the end of the BLP it just means it has been taken oven by its antithesis the heir to the planter association and the electors society of Ernest Mottley.

Some people say Mottley was a good man some people say he was a bad man, but even the people who say he was a good man say he was a ruthlessman. And his ruthlessness scared Grantley. Mottley’s ruthlessness terrorized my family, and I think to this day with the exception of my mother kept my family out of politics and in the boardrooms and in the background of the civil service. And my family accuses Ernest Mottley of nothing less than the demise of Allen Brown the father and grandfather of my aunt and cousins, who played cricket for Barbados, but was a godfather in the association of Ernest Mottley.”

“Ernest Mottley started out as a lowly tout, with no reputation and a shaded background in the united states where he was said to have to be involved in the old profession before he eventually came to resettle in Barbados. He was the son of Walter “Jube” Reece and it makes no sense me repeating what my mother has so beautifully written, but yes which I also wrote along with her but this is her writing, and this is her story Walter Walton Reece, Q.C. was District Grand Master of the Scottish Fraternity of Masons. He was the son of H. Walter Reece and born in 1897, the Jubilee year of the late Queen Victoria, and thus his nickname was Jube. He was an astute, handsome, popular, quick-witted with eyes of steel and completely untrustworthy. He was nine years older than Sissy. He was elected to the House of Assembly as a Member for St. Michael in 1930 and was E.K. Walcott, the Attorney General’s junior. He worked as Solicitor General, was a good lawyer but politically corrupt. He appeared to be Allan best friend, but the relationship was for his own wants. He was twelve years younger than Allan and was also a member of Spartan Club. Jube needed Allan. Clennel Wickham, the writer for the Herald Newspaper in the 30s described him despite his hail-well-met manner as subtle, dangerous, below contempt and caring only for his own ends. He behaved as he pleased and cared not for nor about public opinion. He acknowledged his black blood in order to manipulate the electorate but tried to put fourteen-year-old children out of elementary school. His routine was to leave work on afternoons and drop a man called Lyden Goring in Eagle Hall. He knew Barbados and Barbadians very well and was no more than a guttersnipe. He eventually lost his seat. Do not trust him. Maude warned her daughter when “Rugged” Mottley came to the house with Jube. She kept him in the kitchen. Where he belongs. Rugged was the son of Jube’s father and Miss Skinner, his maid, from Hothersal Turning. He looked like a dark version of Jube. The mother and child were shipped out to America. How he got the name Mottley and what he did in the States are a mystery. He returned to Barbados in the mid 30s. Officially there is not much written about Mottley, not his mother’s name or who his father was. His obituary reads: /”Like most Barbadians he /Mottley] returned to his old home bringing with him an air of worldliness and youthful sophistication and this at once brought him a following of youngsters” /Rugged was a pimp when he first returned and the youngsters spoken of were the young girls and boys he supplied to mainly the white and wealthy gamblers. He married and kept a stable of young girls from whom he had many children. His obituary continues: /”He was popular and soon entered his first business with the Brighton Club on Brighton Beach. Club life was given a much-needed fill up and so Mottley attained the status of a man about town.”

  7. @David,
I am a DLP supporter for life. I want the DLP to win the next election.

However I do not think MIA’s ancestry is relevant to politics in Barbados other than having benefitted from being raised in a family of politicians.

Her father can’t give her a “block of votes”. She has the support of some members of the party and her constituents but the Mottley name no longer has power.
The” Mottley’s” are now just upper class Bajan millionaires.

MIA has presented herself to lead the BLP and she should get licks on her own merit.
No need to drag her parents and grand father into this discussion.

DLP Pushing up the National Debt But With Nothing To Show For It.

    ++++++++++++

According to page 72 of the Central Bank’ Economic and Financial Statistics (data) – in 1994 the National Debt stood at: $2,498.0 billion and by the end of 2007 it was $5,704.9 billion – an increase of $3,206.9 billion in 13 years or an average increase of $246.7 million per year.

In contrast, the DLP increased the debt by a whopping $1.8 billion in 2 ¼ years. At the end of March 2010 – according to the public record, the national debt was $7,573.3 billion, up from $5, 704.9 in 2007 or $1.868.4 billion at an average increase of $830.4 million a year.

But that is not all! There is also a plan in the DLP’s 2010-2011 Estimate to borrow a further $1, 422, 367, 089. What does that mean?

When added to the $1.8 billion it has already borrowed in 2 ¼ years, by the end of this Financial Year, which will be 3 ¼ years the DLP has been in office – it would have increased the national debt by an alarming $3.290.8 billion dollars or an average of $1,012.5 million per year.

Imagine, in 13 years, the Barbados Labour Party increased the national debt by $3.2 billion with a lot to show – including the Hilton, the airport, the sea port, the board walk and so on, whereas in a mere 3 ¼ years, the DLP will increase the national debt by an alarming $3.2 billion but with absolutely nothing to show.

Perhaps recognising that countries like Barbados have development needs – in 1967 Mr. Barrow spoke positively about incurring debt to build productive capacity as the BLP did when it was in office but he was highly critical of borrowing to pay bill or to finance consumption – as the DLP is doing, as a result of its incompetence and dangerous mismanagement of the Barbados economy.

    What elbow room?

Had the DLP had access to more money, it would simply have been far more reckless than it has been since January 2008 with its vote-catching entitlement programmes.

Additionally, it would now feel that it has more than enough to bail-out Clico or to give brand name people much larger golden handshakes.

It still remains a mystery exactly how much money the DLP received from Clico in the last general election. It was said recently in the T&T Parliament that the former PNM Government received some $5 million.

It is therefore obvious why someone needs to ask the above question very soon.

  10. Hard at work Bovell?

Why don’t you go and help Rawle,George and MIA sort out the little problem with “positioning”.

Tell us who voopin who “politically”.
as reported in Nationnews “A PLOT seeking to prevent Opposition Leader Mia Mottley from winning her bid to be chairman of the Barbados Labour Party (BLP) at the party’s annual general conference this month end has been unearthed.

  11. Haunts
The BLP supporters are not getting into any debate that requires them to think. They are into clichés like the deficit increase and there is nothing to show for it and the cost of living.
Any thinking person would realized that the money borrowed to build the Prison(too much),Hilton, the expansion of the highway and Airport where people still get wet and fall when entering the arrival hall is now being paid back by this government who does not have the money and therefore had to borrow to pay.
With all those cost overruns which added to over $750 million what would you expect of the new government following this atrocious amount of spending.
Henderson Bevel should tell the country how the money was used in consumption. Give me one example Henderson of these millions spent on consumption.

If being gay is so wonderful, then why won’t Mia Amor Mottley do the following,

    1) Make a press statement to the press of Barbados indicating that she is gay, homosexual, or a wicker and stop hiding in the closet.
    Or
    2) Make a statement to the press of Barbados that the rumors accusing her of being gay, homosexual, or a wicker are just that, nasty, vicious rumors that have no basis in fact.

She needs to address Barbados one way or the other.

    ++++++++++++++++++

I suppose, like me, the 42% identified in the Nation Newspaper/Wickham Poll – feel that the DLP is about peddling SMUT and that it seeks to hide its inability to come up with creative ideas (that would take Barbados forward) by engaging in character assignation. That is why Barbadians are turned off and disappointed.

The people gave the DLP a chance and what: Unemployment rushing toward 15%; crime on the increase, the cost of living rising, high taxation and yet – grid lock on our roads while the taps are dry, despite a 60% water hike.

These are the things ordinary Barbadians care about. That’s why they now see the DLP as a big turn off and a let down.

But peddling SMUT and seeking to tear down people is what the DLP does best. The DLP is too silly and disconnected to realise that Barbadians are no longer interested in ‘old-style slash and burn politics of division and tribalism of the past.

That is why what is happening in Barbados is a tale of two cities. The Dems are still not getting it. Barbados is changing.

  18. Wishing In Vain Avatar

    By GEORGE PILGRIM | Sun, October 10, 2010 – 12:00 AM

The most recent machination that has drawn attention to the Barbados Labour Party (BLP) revolves around the battle for the leadership of the party. The current Opposition Leader has been the chief cook and bottle washer on the issues that come to the public.

The columnist Hartley Henry, in another space, has offered the Opposition Leader some sound advice about her approach to Opposition politics and the selection of issues. He has intimated, on more than one occasion, that she has a poor track record of picking fights.

Her former boss, on the other hand, is more calculated in his determination of what constitutes an issue. One thing for sure is that he is not afraid to call a spade a spade when it comes to her capacity and leadership ability.

He has also had to distance himself from his leader’s perspective on more than one occasion publicly.

The most recent occasion was the tell-all meeting held opposite the bread vendor in Haggatt Hall where some apparent earth-shattering information regarding the National Housing Corporation was to have been made public.

The tell-all meeting ended with the former leader going off on his own message, leaving his leader to flounder on the topic of housing – an issue he knows that his administration grappled with from inception.

In this respect, the BLP leader sought to take up the rage of a former disgruntled chairman and question the performance record of the Minister of Housing Michael Lashley.

The daunting task of resuscitating housing was given to Minister Lashley upon his entry to Government.

There can be no doubt in the minds of Barbadians that hope has been delivered through Minister Lashley. But history will show that the Democratic Labour Party’s (DLP) record on housing did not start in 2008, but goes all the way back to even before its creation of the National Housing Corporation in 1973.

    Amenities

As far back as 1969, the big thrust in housing started with a new design of terrace units at The Farm, Deacons. Wherever possible at the time, the DLP sought to include in its housing programme and estates, day care nurseries and shopping facilities, as was the case in Silver Hill and Eden Lodge. The record is clear.

Just as pellucid has been the failure of the Barbados Labour Party after three straight terms in office to mask its underperformance in the delivery of housing to the people of Barbados.

The Bees don’t want to tell the country in their publications and utterances that the total number of houses completed during the period September 1994 to January 2008 tallied 594.

This number alone was just shy of what the DLP produced in 1989 alone.

The housing sector was never given any serious attention by the Arthur administration. Four ministers, 802 lots, a waiting list of 28 042 later, they want to place the DLP on trial.

I would advise Minister Lashley to give full disclosure to Barbadians on all housing matters as it relates to the contractual arrangements of the NHC then and now.

The Government has nothing to be ashamed of in the area of housing other than that the minister has not taken the time to tell Barbadians of the vacuum that was created as a result of the inept polices of the former administration.

I want to appeal to Minister Lashley, when he takes a break from throwing up structures, to update us on some matters.

Matter No. 1. Minister Lashley, can you please give us some insight into the 99-year lease that was signed 11 days before the last election with the developers of the Sapphire project on the South Coast.

Matter No 2. Minister Lashley, can you please tell us about the abandoned construction of the Primary Home model house at the stage where the contractor had spent around $38 000 when it was realized that the house could not be built for under $50 000 as previously advocated by the then minister.

It ended up costing taxpayers nearly $70 000.

Matter No 3. Why have you not told us about the housing programmes that were poorly conceived and in some instances with no houses ever constructed. For example, Dean Town, despite programme being launched.

The BLP would want to say to us that we should take the speck from our eye; but we know of the log and hardwood that is in theirs.

I am calling on the Minister of Housing to respond to these matters raised before I complete my list. The public is patiently awaiting your response.

We saw land prices dramatically increase over the 1994 to 2007 period. The intervention by the Government then was to announce that land should reach its highest economic value.

The link can be shown between the exclusive focus of the Arthur administration on building condos, villas and homes for the wealthy and the surge in building costs to as high as between $400 and $600 per square foot on the West Coast. We simply cannot escape the fact that between 1996 and 2007 there were very few private housing developments aimed at the lower and middle-income group.

This is the first time in years that we are seeing a plethora of housing projects aimed at the ordinary Barbadians.

This is the axis upon which the discussion needs to rotate. By September 31 the NHC had completed 515 housing solutions.

The NHC and the minister deserve kudos for their efforts to date. Barbadians of all walks of life, whether they be BLP, DLP or apolitical, must admit that something is happening.

  20. There is very little difference between the DLP and the BLP, that’s why the day after elections are over and there is a change in government, life goes on in Barbados. Yes, there are the party diehards but most importantly is that there is the swing voters who can analyse the situation and decide which party is better for the country; I hope it remains that way. Even when the DLP were down to 2 M.P’s the % of votes between the two parties was just 10%, that’s because we have the “first pass the poles” system.

  21. @Henderson

It is not like you to avoid a question.

  22. Henderson
You respond with the same false information
The statistical office put out the unemployment rate today at 10.7%.How did you get 15%? You spoke about gridlock. It was Prime Minister Arthur who said he wanted to see a car at each house in Barbados. What would you expect?
The fallacy of speaking of 60% water rate increase and not speaking about the actual monetary increase can be misleading. I pay between $50 -$65 for water, an increase of around $15.00 and $65 for my cell phone. I would be a hypocrite to complain about the water rate. Water is an essential part of our lives and we can afford to pay a little more for it when compared to cell phone usage in Barbados.
You have not provided the evidence of the government spending the 1.5billion on consumption.
If your articles continue to be simplistic then David should revert you to being a commenter.

  23. Dear what will they think of next:

Owen Arthur has never made any statement about his sexual orientation.

Erskine Sandiford has never made any statement about his sexual orientation.

Errol Barrow has never made any statement about his sexual orientation.

Bernard St. John has never made any statement about his sexual orientation.

Tom Adams has never made any statement about his sexual orientation.

Grantley Adams has never made any statement about his sexual orientation.

I don’t care what politicians do sexually as long as they don’t do it with a child, animal or dead body or a non-consenting person.

I just want them to do a good job. Is that too much to ask?

    Economic Reality

    ++++++++++++++++++++

We are now seeing an economic order in which macroeconomic policies have become more market oriented.

An environment in which the private sector is expected to function as the main engine of economic growth, hence the relegating the State to a revised but equally important role as facilitator and a provider of rules; regulations and the legislative environment – that will govern economic activity.

That is why it is shameful that the DLP is yet to table the Financial Services Authority legislation that would be in Barbados’ national strategic interest.

In close to three years and all the DLP could come up with, is a Constituency Councils Act – more of the same entitlement – vote catching gimmicks, the BLP warned about.

  27. Owen Arthur is a short old man there is absolutely nothing sexually appealing about him. His ego is longer than time. His infidelty has no bounds. Given a chance he would take Barbados down the one Way street again. Bajans can’t afford to take that chance. He needs to give it up and give younger and more talented people a chance in moving the country forward. Would somebody Please Push Owen Out Of the Way .he is like yesterday news that everyone eventually gets tired of! Geeeeeeeeeeee

Here is more on why the DLP is bad for Barbados

    ++++++++++++++++++++++++

Revenue is down for the first six months of this year by $101 million from what they received last year for the same period. Corporation taxes are down by 29% or $80 million lower.

Our productive sectors are still not earning foreign exchange.

Our reserves have dropped in spite of the borrowings of the last year. The truth is that the decline in the Net International Reserves is really $268 million and not $68 million. What is also clear is that there is much talk about tourism numbers but the dollar spend is down significantly.

Sugar is down. Manufacturing is down. International business registrations and receipts are down. And there is no plan from the Government for their recovery.

The DLP does not know what it is doing or what to do.

It is merely an acting Government. It has an acting Prime Minister, an acting Chief Justice, an acting Attorney General and is also acting as if it is the Government, when all of us (including Hants, David and Carson) know that since Clico has collapsed it is now the IMF who is calling the shots.

  29. @Henderson Bovell, de IMF en involved in dis too?

“Yesterday, Mottley told the SUNDAY SUN she was “horrified” that anyone would try to bypass the legitimately elected branch executive – and the MP – to submit a delegates list.”
“I will not be involved in any skulduggery. This is a matter for the national council of the party to resolve,” she said.

“……is also acting as if it is the Government”

    This part is not true.

  31. Well well, the BLP behaving like the DLP of a few years ago.

“Twelve voices were shouting in anger, and they were all alike. No question, now, what had happened to the faces of the pigs. The creatures outside looked from pig to man, and from man to pig, and from pig to man again; but already it was impossible to say which was which.” – concluding paragraph of Animal Farm by George Orwell.

Here is the response to your question:

Barbados, for the first time in its history has had three consecutive years of a fiscal current account deficit. The people of this country need to understand what this is.

It is being able to pay your basic monthly bills – wages and salaries, goods and services. It is not the big projects – it is the day-to-day expenses.

The Governor of the Central Bank’s Report shows that for the first 5 months of this year, the reckless DLP spent $182.3 million more than it earned in revenue.

Why this is disturbing is that it is $62 million more than the deficit for the entire 2008 when the we were already saying things were bad. Yet the Government claims that it has been holding to its Medium Term Fiscal Strategy.

The truth is that that strategy is premised on revenue coming from the World Bank and CDB in this financial year to the tune of $140 million. That has not come and the Government does not have a plan “B,” no pun intended

Further, it states that the overall fiscal deficit this year should be no more than 7.4%. Yet, the half-year position reflects a deficit already at 8.6% at the end of May 2010.

This means that the DLP is making little headway in increasing its revenue and cutting its expenditure – hence the $182.3 million deficit at the end of 5 months.

This ugliness does not include the perilous threat posed by Clico, the once high flyer, now grounded, humbled and mortal again.

HOW MUCH MONEY DID CLICO GIVE THE DLP IN THE LAST GENERAL ELECTION?

Do you realise that this is an acting Government that promised freedom of information and accountability, yet does not want “anybody” to ask it anything?

  33. There isn’t a scintilla of difference between the BLP and the DLP.The predominant occupation of the majority of members of parliament is “lawyer”.Lawyers are by nature prone to be dishonest.I intend to vote for anyone but a lawyer in the next election which I hope will be soon

  34. @Henderson

Our question which remains unanswered has to do with the George Payne position which conflicts with Mottley i.e. running for the General Secretary of the party at monthend.

  35. @David,
Perhaps Henderson is preparing a response to the Nation article titled Move on Mia that alleges shenanigans in the BLP.
“Speaking exclusively yesterday to the SUNDAY SUN, Eastmond revealed that the plot had been uncovered and had been dealt with.”

  36. Reports are that things will reach a head as early as this week and the feeling is that Muttley will not be the one leading the party at their conference in a couple of weeks time it is reported that it will be brought to a head during this week.

Beauty is in de eye of de behelder, so carry on smartly. you got a ting fa ol rejects or wah? I like dem ol too but not reject.

  38. @WIV,
the heat is on. It is reported in the Nation
“THE INTENSITY of the battle for leadership within the Opposition Barbados Labour Party (BLP) took an unprecedented twist yesterday with an emailed letter to membership stating that opponents of Opposition Leader Mia Mottley may not be fit to hold public or any office at all.

The email was circulated to the several hundred members on the BLP’s database by Henderson Bovell, personal assistant to the Opposition Leader.”

  39. So I thought MIA Mottley was the undisputed leader of the BLP.
Looks like the Queen Bee is getting eaten by the wasps.

I thought they were the party that had a unified force, prepared, ready and willing to run the Government of Barbados.

    ++++++++++++++++++++++

    Wrong on three counts.

    1. The BLP does not have an Email Database and has never had in its 72 years of existence. If it did – no one gave it to me.

I routinely send emails and people ask to be added. The question is always asked:

“DO YOU WISH TO CONTINUE RECEIVING SIMILAR OR WOULD YOU LIKE TO BE DELETED.”

    2. Here is what the email actually said:

“Mia Mottley is on a mission to stamp-out corruption at all level. If she now fails to get everyone on board, then it would simply suggest that those who might oppose her – may not be fit to hold public or any office at all.”

    3. Following the Sunday Sun front page yesterday, here is what was written:

“The challenges our Party and this country face — and our responsibility to take action — has now become even more urgent. ”

    Incidentally the email was titled:

“How can we bring change to Barbados without first bringing change to the BLP?”

  41. Once a Dee always a Dee. Henderson Bovell former loyal DLP party member and officer, has single handedly destroyed that BLP long standing best practice of never discussing internal party issues in public, or intimating the existence of personality issues in the intractable manner he has done. He has now level the BLP to where the DLP is perceptively. One has to ask if he is really sincere in being a Bee, or if he has been “planted” to destabalize the Bees.

He risk becomming the poster boy for this personality clash and being thrown under the bus by Mia. He could be easily dismissed as collateral damage.

  42. Henderson Bovell’s email title speaks to a question and concern I have once stated. It is a great question.

““How can we bring change to Barbados without first bringing change to the BLP?””

How can Mia Mottley expect to be seen as the Leader of Barbados if she cannot win the acceptance of the BLP rank and file as their party leader? I have asked this before and as we are seeing it must be answered.

  43. @Adrian

One would have to believe that Henderson’s postings has the ‘Approve This Message’ stamp from Mia.

  44. @David:
Indeed Henderson is a very loyal person. He is Loyal to his livelihood, which he transfers to any person or institution that provides that livelihood. But he has a reputation amongst the Dees, and the Bees would not miss him, if Mia cast him aside. He is expendable, even if he does not know it. Mia needs those people to whom Henderson Bovell has cast his intractable aspersions on. Politicians forgive each other, laugh and smile with each other, but people at Henderson Bovell’s level have to switch between parties to sustain themselves.

  45. It is being reported that the BLP MP’s have called a meeting for tomorrow to decide once and for all who they want as their leader, it is also reported that Owing seems to have mustered the numbers as is comfortable that he can oust Muttley.

  46. @David
Henderson Bovell has stated that the email was his personal view. So it cannot be attributed to Mia. Therein lies the problem for Bovell. If Mia mend her fences with those Bovell intimates “as possibly not electable” then he could be thrown to wolves with his own words. In addition if as WIV is suggesting, should Owen come away with majority loyal support of the BLP parliamentary team, Bovell’s goose is cooked.

  47. Hants Henderson Bovine is a political parasite and will suck from anyone will to host him, he and Greenidge are no different from each other. Both crooks like their leaders Owing and Muttley, neither one can tell the other come back.

  48. Mia Mottley is on a mission to stamp-out corruption at all level. If she now fails to get everyone on board, then it would simply suggest that those who might oppose her – may not be fit to hold public or any office at all
    ***************************************
Wow !! ! 25 years and counting in politics and she just discovered corruption. Worse, he also asserts that anyone who opposes Mia is not fit for public office.

Someone at BLP HQ should shut this person up before he really causes the Party irreversible damage. He has taken brown nosing to a new high or should that be a new low with his fawning over Mia. Recently I saw a photo op of Mia on the beach and I expected him to say that she usually walked on water but she was only walking on the beach to establish commonality with other human beings.

  49. The BLP is going to commit political suicide tomorrow. Dale Marshall is to be appointed political leader! With him as BLP leader, the Dem’s could put Ossie Moore as leader and win the next general election without breaking a sweat.

  50. I can see bloodsheed on the horizon within the next couple of days!!!!!!!!
