As I have said before the Marcelle Smith murder case will not be investigated any further unless a piece of evidence drops off a plane flying to Panama. Smith is free to continue smartly, and Gollop never stopped. Case closed, and so am I on this matter.

  3. What exactly takes so long to bring murder suspects and other big-up casesto trial in Barbados?

..Is it that the AG’s office is staffed with incompetent jokers who are operating by trial and error?
..Is it that the DPP only deals with petty cases involving people from the blocks?
..Is it that the whole legal profession are all LODGE members who use the system to protect each other?

….or are we simple a nation of brass bowl incompetents….?

  5. Man Gabriel this shiite is bigger than DEMS and BEES…. been going on too long now…
Looks more like masonic influences to the bushman…
For we fight not against flesh and blood …. (or even political idiocy in high places….) but against SPIRITUAL wickedness… against dark forces….

  6. @ David,

I am glad to see that Roger is trying to get justice for his murdered mother.

The children and family of the late Marcel Smith deserve to see her killer tried and sentenced to the maximum penalty.

The wheels of justice in Barbados is a slow turn.

  8. Unease over history of violence at house

A double shooting at a house in Farm Road, St Philip, has some residents convinced the property is full of bad energy.

The incident is but the latest in a series of violence directly or indirectly surrounding the house over the years – from shootings, disappearances and homicide.

Police reported that the shooting occurred around 1:10 p.m. last Thursday where two men, one in his 40s and the other in his 50s, were struck. The older man was the more seriously injured, with a gunshot wound to the left side of the head. He was transported to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) by ambulance personnel and was said to be in very critical condition.

The other man was injured in the left arm and was also transported to the QEH – via a private car. His condition was said to be stable.

Yesterday, a neighbour, who requested anonymity, said the same house was once the home of the late Marcelle Smith and her husband, former secondary school principal the late Aurelius Smith. She was the sister-in-law of former Attorney General, the late Sir Frederick “Sleepy” Smith.

“That house has always been a target. The previous owner was the former principal at The Lodge School and his wife got abducted and murdered,” the neighbour said.

In October 2015, Marcelle Smith, 75, disappeared from her home. This prompted a manhunt which first turned up her car in Chelston Park, Culloden Road, St Michael, later that month and then her body in a ravine in Rolling Hills, St George.

    Killer confesses

Her killer, Cheriss Ricardo Omar Ince, 43, of Nursery #2, Four Roads, St Philip, had been in police custody after attempting to use her ATM cards, resulting in the banks notifying the police, complete with video footage. He initially professed innocence but eventually broke down and confessed, leading authorities to the body.

Autopsy results showed Smith had been strangled to death. Ince was sentenced to life but with a tariff of 35 years, meaning he would spend at least 35 years in prison before any consideration of release.

As for the shooting, another neighbour expressed his frustrations.

“There have been two or three incidents there now. I wish the police would do their jobs. There’s a lot of rumours about what happened; we don’t know the facts. It is an uneasy feeling, scary. It’s gotten worse in the last five years or so,” he said.

Another neighbour said while she could not confirm if one of the men who was shot recently bought the property, the circumstances were troubling.

“I used to see a ‘For Sale’ sign there and one day, it was gone. Now, this happened,” she said.

In Farm Gardens, some men who were liming in the park said the area was known for trouble.

“People have disappeared there and it is the same place where a car get shoot up too. There was another shooting a time too. There’s bad energy at that house,” one said.

Despite this, the men said the area was normally a peaceful one and the shooting had to have been done by outside forces.

“We don’t [usually] have that action about here. We still cool, we safe out here,” one said.

In Farm Road Terrace, a resident also said such violence was foreign: “When them things happen, it does be at the [public] market or along the main road.”

Police are asking anyone who can provide information to assist with these investigations to call the Criminal Investigations Department (Southern Division) at 418-2609, police emergency 211, Crime Stoppers at 1-800-TIPS (8477) or the nearest police station.

In a separate incident, police are also investigating a report of a cutlass attack about 5:30 a.m. yesterday at a bar in Nelson Street, The City. Two men were injured, one in serious but stable condition at the hospital while the other is expected to be discharged.
