Owen Arthur predicted to be the next Prime Minister by Cadres
Owen Arthur predicted to be the next Prime Minister by Cadres

Many heard Owen Arthur on the news today pleading with Barbadians to vote Barbados Labour Party (BLP) and save the country from the ‘financial madness’ which it is presently gripped. He  was predictably generous in allocating blame to the Democratic Labour Party (DLP). Arthur’s position should cause the so-called swing voters to reflect. Despite doing nothing the BLP finds itself in a position that it may possibly be re-elected – on a landslide.

It seems like yesterday the BLP presided over Public Sector Reform, an abysmal failure. Under the BLP administration statutory corporations were aggressively rolled out that in hindsight seems to have added to a moribund public service. Also who can forget that despite a burgeoning public service Arthur still found the opportunity to saddle the public service with ‘contractors’,  many who possessed questionable job descriptions.

Here is an opposition party which for 14 years in government was unable to rationalize public private transportation. In fact many will affirm that the dreaded Zr and Minibus culture took deep root between 1994 and 2007. Yet there is the real possibility that the BLP maybe returned to office to find the situation as it left it.  What does it say about an educated people that we have allowed this problem to take a cancerous form? The biggest irony is that the DLP government introduced free bus fare and one of the reasons given was that we needed to encourage school children from taking private transport. We prefer to feed the monster instead of wrestling it to the ground, we are happy to apply bandaids.

The BLP is on the cusp of winning the next general election with the memory of Greenland, GEMS and several projects which history has indelibly recorded as defining squandermania in the minds.  What does it say about the hybrid Westminster system of government which is the roadmap for our touted democracy?

Even in the face of unprecedented economic challenges Barbadians have been subjected to one week of campaigning where we continue to wait for the issues to be HONESTLY and dispassionately discussed. It must be clear that the current fiscal strategy of government is not sustainable in the face of a protracted global slowdown. It is a big reason BU has suggested that Stuart should have taken the country to the polls one year ago. Instead the DLP government has had to play politics with managing the economy because Stuart in his infinite wisdom decided to ring the bell in the sixth year.

  1. When the Sleeping Giant is asleep, no one dare wake him.

  2. David you need a dose of reality. The average Bajan does not care how much money was wasted on Greenland or Gems.

Watch the videos of the mass meetings again and tell me if the attendees are there other than to fete and listen to comedy and who bullin an wikkin whom.

It is amazing that after years of innuendo about politicians tiefing not one has ever been charged.

The next election will be won and there will be 5 more years of “same ol same ol”.

  3. It seems that all politicians thief so the people would have to go with the ones that thief and still leave a little money in their pockets to spend – even if the next generation or two would have pay the bills. Sad but true.

  4. David
Your optimism of a BLP sweep is not in sync with what is happening on the ground. You and all of the BLP supporters on this blog would say what Owen Arthur said today. He said he would be surprised if the BLP lost this election. He was surprised last time and will be again.

The meetings or whose campaigned is organized or Peter Wickham doctored polls should not be used as who is going to win.

The hidden majority of the wont say who are in the Pentecostal churches will make the difference

  5. The facts are that the electorate was lulled into thinking short term proposals by Thompson were acceptable and surprised even Thompson that they had bought his crap hook line and sinker. He could’nt deliver, did not have team that could deliver, did not trust Stuart(that feeling was reciprocated)and on his sick bed left a dunce to man the ministry of finance, plus a judas iscariot in that said ministry to crunch numbers. An accountant,a number cruncher could’nt intrepret economic data like a trained economist and misled the cabinet into foolish short term and medium term strategies that hurt the economy very badly and so we are at a stalemate. The current DLP is a let down. The BLP with all its battle scars is the choice to run the affairs of this country beginning February 22nd 2013 because resonable people have confidence in Owen Arthur’s ability to rectify the utter damage done by the DLP.

The only thing worse than an outdated, legacy claiming sterile Freundal Stuart administration is a pompous, legacy seeking unqualified Owen Arthur follow on … Government in this part of the world was headed in this direction for a long time and now there are two nothing parties vying for relevance.

  8. For a party that exuded the level of confidence the BLP did a short four months ago,one begins to wonder why election gimmickry now seems to be the focal point of campaign at this late stage. We have long conceded that there is no money in the government coffers so lets cut the crap about givebacks.Which ever party it is that forms the government will be in no position to offer handouts and that is a simple fact. What bajans need to look at is the obvious stance of the private sector and its leader in relation to Owen Arthur and ask why the favouritism? Some time ago I said that the folk at Starcom Network had undertaken the exercise of sanitizing the likes of Noel Lynch and Clyde Mascoll in an exchange for a license to own a TV station, since there was no politician in Barbados who understood the value of quid pro quo better than Owen Arthur.Yesterday Arthur validated that claim. The BLP had the cushion of public opinion their side. They enjoyed the obvious slant of the media.Somehow they were able to permit their unmitigated arrogance, the same one that brought them down in 2008 to creep back in and with it the Dems are back in the race.Momentum is with the Dems right now and if nothing else I am happy, for like many I do not want Owen Arthur to ever again lead Barbados.

  9. The meeting in Passage Road was off the chain dont know for sure but between 10 and 20 thousand humans were there. It was shockingly massive. Dont know who is going to be first past the post in the election but judging from the crowds for the DLP and BLP it will be even stevens. Word on the ground is it will be close with the Dees bringing it home. Owen talking crutchery bout he will be surprised if he dont win easily. Owen this isnt rum tasting you must stop counting chickens before they hatch. Your giveaways including raising civil servants salaries will land us in the hands of the IMF if not devalue our dollar. Owen tell Bajans the truth stop fooling people there is money to burn and foreign exchange is not an issue. Spain, Engalnd, USA, Canada and more scrunting you saying Barbados is not, we are immune. Steups.

  10. Commentary claims some are labeling Peter Wickham a ‘Push Pollster’

“A push poll is an interactive marketing technique, most commonly employed during political campaigning, in which an individual or organisation attempts to influence or alter the view of respondents under the guise of conducting a poll.

In a push poll, large numbers of respondents are contacted, and little or no effort is made to collect and analyze response data. Instead, the push poll is a form of telemarketing-based propaganda and rumour mongering, masquerading as a poll.

Push polls may rely on innuendo or knowledge gleaned from opposition research on an opponent. They are generally viewed as a form of negative campaigning. This tactic is commonly considered to undermine the democratic process as false or misleading information is provided about candidates.”

… from the New Today article Peter Wickham – Pollster or fraudster?

  11. Pollster Peter Wickham- speaks of an NNP victory
With our general elections just around the corner, on Monday 28th January, 2013 – a paid messenger of our main opposition delivered what he considers the latest opinion poll, which outlandishly favours them.

Peter Wickham, the Director of CADRES – a polling company out of Barbados said a poll he did last week shows an 11% swing in favour of the New National Party (NNP) heading into the February 19th general elections.

According to Wickham, the poll shows that most of the people polled do not want to see Tillman Thomas and his team remain at the head of the country and are instead ready to return power to the hands of Dr. Keith Mitchell and his New National Party.

Wickham says that the essence of his poll suggests that Grenadians are ready for a change of government. All of the other measures – Wickham says, are consistent with that and there is a very high focus on the cost of living, unemployment and the economy.

Cumulatively about 80% of the population has major concerns about these issues. On the question of leadership, Wickham says comparatively speaking, there is a greater interest in the leadership of Dr. Keith Mitchell as compared to Mr. Tillman Thomas.

Wickham quips that the general indicators show that Grenadians are ready (at this time) for a change of government but hastened to add that a day is a long time in politics and with general elections over two weeks away a lot can happen in that time.

But certainly if an election were to be held around the time of the poll (last week), that would have been the outcome.

Many people throughout the length and breadth of Grenada are asking who did Mr. Wickham poll as they cannot understand what are the chances of them not encountering him or his agents prior to its release.

Just Sunday last on the popular George Grant radio show, former Agriculture Minister in the Mitchell administration and senior party member of the Grenada United Labour Party (GULP) – Michael Baptiste declared that Peter Wickham (a hired pollster) was on his way to Grenada to deliver a poll that would say that the NNP is winning the election.

Interestingly, Mr. Baptiste said that the NNP has counted and tagged all their supporters with a green band around their hands, so when he (Wickham) arrived here to conduct a poll, it would be very easy for him to identify the NNP tagged supporters and give a result that would suit the NNP.

Baptiste reminded all that there is a silent majority in this country who understand and recognise that Dr. Mitchell has delivered chaos to the Grenadian people, and would not be ready to allow him back in office to continue the destruction that he started.

Anyone listening to Mr. Baptiste would not have been surprised by the declarations of Peter Wickham who concluded one of his local interviews saying that Dr. Mitchell will win comfortably.

Any sensible person will not be surprised that Wickham continues to chip away at the little to no credibility he has when one thinks that he was allegedly dismissed by a media house in Barbados for giving secret information to the U.S on some of his own clients.

This is what was stated by a Barbados local publication (Barbados Free Press) on Peter Wickham: “The Caribbean Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) sacked journalist and political analyst Peter Wickham on September 1st over the contents of a US Embassy cable released by WikiLeaks on August 30th, 2011”.

There is no difference between Wickham and Keith Mitchell – the two men have one thing in common: Squealing on others.

The same Wikileaks quoted the U.S Ambassador as stating that in a meeting with then Prime Minister Keith Mitchell, he engaged in bad-mouthing fellow Caricom leaders as Dr. Ralph Gonzalves of St. Vincent & The Grenadines.

Isn’t this the same Peter Wickham who in the 2008 general elections was bragging that a poll he conducted showed the NNP winning the elections when every sensible Grenadian knew that Keith Mitchell was facing sure defeat.

This man disappeared and did not come back before the public to explain the 11-4 whipping that the NNP received at the hands of Uncle Tilly and the NDC.

Some have already started to label Wickham as a push pollster.

According to Wikipedia: “A push poll is an interactive marketing technique, most commonly employed during political campaigning, in which an individual or organisation attempts to influence or alter the view of respondents under the guise of conducting a poll.

Grenadians, please do not forget that this is the same Peter Wickham who tried to tell our people that the NDC only stands a chance of winning the next general election if Peter David is allowed to lead the party.

Does this man have any credibility to be allowed to share any poll with our people?

Peter David could not bring out 300 people at his event at La Tante in St. David’s while thousands heeded the call of Uncle Tilly and assembled outside the Gas Station at Gouyave in St. John’s during the NDC split.

It would not be unreasonable to conclude that Peter Wickham could very well be the type of person who works for whom he thinks would pay him handsomely and says what they want him to say.

    You be the judge.

  12. So it seems from viewing these posts, the public will decide the winner of the elections based on who told the most jokes about who is a homosexual and who is a lesbian and who is doing who. DOES THIS SOUND NORMAL??? I GUESS IT DOES TO ALL WHO HAVE SOCIOPATHIC AND PSYCHPATHIC TENDENCIES. BUNCH OF ACROPHILIAS. I guess people don’t care that the young are watching these displays and copying, maybe that is the plan, keep the stupidity going for another 1000 years so that local politicians and continue to enrich themselves.

  13. Now I wonder who or what would make this man think that there is not any money laundering in Bim?? Is it because it is not poor people laundering???? I DARE YOU TO READ SOME OF THE EXCERPTS!!! HA!

However, Kearney said: “There have been very few money-laundering investigations [and] even fewer money-laundering prosecutions here in Barbados. Perhaps there is no money-laundering taking place here in Barbados. I will leave you to be the judge of that.

“Legislation is just the first step. It is pointless enacting legislation if you are not going to enforce it,” he added.

Kearney said the information reported was not being acted on as it should and “we should ask ourselves why not”.

“This could be an indicator that the system is working. I also contend it is an indicator of failure because it could be that more suspicious activities are taking place in Barbados. Is Barbados therefore attracting more dirty money as no remedial action is being taken?”

Speaking on The Impact Of The Proceeds Of Crime Act And The MLFTA (2011), Kearney said: “Barbados is one of the few jurisdictions in the region that doesn’t have the ability to seize criminal cash, take criminal cash out of the economy, which most of the other jurisdictions have. That seizure of cash can be dealt with civilly rather than criminally.”

  14. They should have imprisoned Michael Lashley instead of playing political footsy.

  15. Boy, you lot in the DLP is sticking to your smear campaign strategy like a dog to a bone. Everybody who is not or disagrees with DLP is gay, corrupt, a liar or just plain mean. If you have nothing going for you I suppose the only thing left is to try and pull down everybody else. Now apparently PW is a fraud. Who next? You lot would have done well back in the days of witch trials.

I admit I was pleasantly surprised when Minister Inniss went off script on the radio yesterday and discussed the changes in the MoH, suggesting that where the private sector can provide service more efficiently than government can, it should be embraced. It was intelligent and refreshing, it is a pity more of that type of conversation does not go on.

Instead people like to boast about crowd numbers – the point of this is lost on me. I’m supposed to be impressed by a crowd at a political rally? Do you get extra votes for large crowds or something? And how come it is always neat totals like 10,000 or 15,000 as opposed to say 11,239 since you were counting?

You go on about who is or is not gay (apparently everybody is and I would assume the accusers too seeing as they know so much detail). And, everyone is corrupt and people have notes to prove it (because notes are apparently proof) – but of course the ‘notes’ never appear and no one is ever charged with anything ever.

Now at a time when you have people’s attention and you could use the opportunity to explain and promote your strategies. But instead, you waste so much time talking irrelevant bull$hit and not about issues that really matter to people. Do you think this is giving anyone confidence about how you will manage the country? You lot are truly scary.

The BLP cannot present to the electorate a true picture of Owen Arthur with the following words spelt correctly:
    INTEGRITY
    CHARACTER
    DECENCY

Why the BLP cannot do this ???

    “BUNCH OF ACROPHILIAS”

Your contribution on the voting psyche of the Bajan electorate is most enlightening.
But one thing we are not clear about is what you mean by the word “ACROPHILIAS”.

We know that there are people in Bim who have been known to indulge in necrophilia with even some known politicians having orgasmic reactions after communication (should it be communion) with some dead DLP leaders.

They are some people who even suffer from sudden ‘Acrophobic’ reactions when confronted with situations involving simple heights like appearing on a platform to speak.
But what do you mean by “Acrophilias”? Does the word imply some deep-seated Freudian complex sexual attraction with the resulting redundant empty emissions from speaking on political platforms? Just asking?

So far we have heard on both political platforms very much focus on politicians’ sexual orientation and habits including the reneging of paternity responsibilities instead of a focus on the real issues confronting this very frail and sick country.

  20. this election should be a turning point in Barbados as to wether people put COUNTRY FIRST or SELF INTEREST FIRST. We shall see, No matter who wins A DEBT has to be paid<

  21. NationBLPnewspaper Avatar
    NationBLPnewspaper

I have consistently said that the Nation newspaper has been extremely nasty and bised againt the DLP government using so called columnists like Pat Hoyos, Clyde Mascott, Sanka “BLP press secretary” Price, Albert Brandford, Kaymar Jordan,Harry Russell, Ezra Alleyne and Peter Symmonds to do the opposition’s dirty work just like Fox news uses Oreily and Sean Hannity.

Surprise ! Surprise! : The BLP is now running whole page ads against the Prime Minister using nothing but headlines and extracts from where? THE NATION NEWSPAPER over the last 5 years.
    Fair and balanced – STUPSE.

  22. NationBLPnewspaper Avatar
    NationBLPnewspaper

An advertising campaign for the BLP using clips from the Nation newspaper over the last 5 years. The BLP website full of articles from socalled nation “columnists”. The BLP would never use this if it did not serve their partisan agenda. I told you so.

Therefore, I am vindicated in my assertion over the years of the synergy and collaboration between the Nation newspaper and the opposition BLP. It is like a communist country. The BLP has control over the largest newspaper in Barbados and now has its sight set on the only tv station.
The Barbados Advocate because of the advertising money which is being spent by the BLP must give them prominent coverage as we have seen throughout this campaign.
A picture is forming where a BLP political party is looking to control ,dominate and intimidate media practitioners and in that way any BLP malfaesance will not be exposed. A word of caution to all Barbadians.
Who will dare say anything negative about Owen Arthur? Are we going back to the Negrocrat and indentured servant days of media and citizen abuse?
The public will decide and live with the consequences after Feb 21.

  23. I meaning really ! “tired of this” you got the mitigated gall to desribe the DLP campaign as laced with sexual innuendo. WEll let me refresh your memory as to who describe MIA as not morally fit to be a LEADER. Hell YES it was YOUR Leader OSA who in his quest to dethronedthe now defunct MIA as leader of the BLP left no stone unturned to destroy MIA”s INTEGRITY using her sexual lifestyle as fodder to fufill his own opportunistic fortunes to become leader. “tired”you got some nerve.

  24. Miller……..I don’t need to worry about you and words, I know you have the flexible ability to fit it in somewhere to describe the behavior.

  25. All politicians thief but with b l p the poor man had money to play with not so with D L P.

  26. ‘Momentum is with the Dems right now and if nothing else I am happy, for like many I do not want Owen Arthur to ever again lead Barbados’
I TOO FEEL THAT AFTER SUCCESSFULLY MANAGING THE ECONOMY OF BARBADOS AFTER THE DISASTER LEFT BY MR SANDIFORD ET AL THAT MR ARTHUR SHOULD HAVE BASKED IN HIS GLORY FROM UNBIASED COMMENTATORS AND ASSUMED THE ROLE OF INCOGNITO ECONOMIC ADVISER TO FRESH BLP LEADERSHIP BUT ONLY GOD KNOWS WHAT DROVE HIM TO IGNOMINOUSLY RETURN BUT THAT SAID MR HIL,L TELL ME WHAT HAS MR ARTHUR DONE IN HIS 14 YEARS OF OFFICE IN WHICH HE GREW AN ECONOMY FROM NOTHING AS BANDIED ABOUT TO PLENTY TO MERIT YOUR WISH THAT HE NEVER HOLDS OFFICE AGAIN. YOU MIGHT BE PRIVY TO SOMETHING I DO NOT KNOW.

  27. The problem with you selfserving BLP yardflows is no matter what the DLP does to keep the country from falling off the fiscal cliff left by OSA nothing is never going to be good enough except the BLP intent of selling the country to the highest bidder under the disguise of RECONSTRUCTION of the economy. First it was BNB all in the name of “quick cash” bajans going to rudely awaken for years to come if they foolishly elect a bunch of corrupt selfserving demagoues who have been TESTED! PROVEN! and TRIED!

  28. Problem is no one has been tried in Bim yet, this is what we are hoping for, so that arrogant attitude of being untouchable will disappear.

  29. I heard OSA said that he “raised the retirement age to 67 .guess there was a message in that it would give him more time to run for PM . i guess “IF” he wins he can increased to 80 giving him more of a chance to become PM for life.another reason to retire this imbicle permanately.

  30. @ Motivated….As they say the proof of the pudding is in the eating.Peter Wickham wears multiple hats but I think it is fair to say that his true passion is in his polling.Last election here in Barbados his poll data made him the darling of the Dems, the bastard of the Bees and the then PM even went as far as alluding to another B derogatory in nature, but that was when this type of behaviour from the political platform was acceptable. With days to go our leading daily published the now infamous CHAPO POLL,after that same daily had stoped printing any articles written by the Peter Wickham.Needless to say the Wickham group got it right and we here in Barbados are yet to get an explanation from that most read daily how did they get it so wrong? There are times when on radio Peter Wickham is deliberately biased against the government, and to no end via email I have registered displeasure but have come to the realization that his is another opinion voiced on radio. His poll data and how it is generated is another story.Till there is clear and distinct proof he deserves the benefit of doubt and we should all examine the message. When there is proof we can look at the messenger.

  31. ac
I am not a member of the BLP, I know it’s confusing cause most people on this blog have some political affiliation but I don’t. I like politicians from both sides. Heck I was even supporting the Ds last time. But given the unprecedented level of ignorance that has gone on in this last term, no chance that is happening again.
I don’t care about gayness, internal party wranglings, who is a tief, who call who names, who didn’t get invited to who’s birthday party. I accept politicians are not angels, I have no other choice.
This government is going to get judged (by me at least) on how it is managing the affairs of the country not all this side story soap opera nonsense that matters eff all to anybody. You would think with all the haughty pronouncements of who is a crook, and the number of lawyers in parliament we would have had 1 prosecution and 1 law passed to prevent further injustice. Instead we get a lot of shrieking and moaning on the radio and platforms and zero action.
As far as I’m concerned if everything the BLP is accused of is true and they return to power and repeat everything they did before it would be better than continuing with this lot. You have offered nothing to get us out of this mess. Just this ‘stay the course’ routine when ‘staying the course’ is crushing people and is producing no growth. Do you understand that the time we spent over the last 5 years doing nothing to fix the problems we have is time we can never get back? And has probably made things more difficult in the long run?
You can’t just keep raising taxes and borrowing the NIS, and hoping things will get better, that is not a strategy. That’s nuts.

  32. See Ronald jones been probably recording his own voice and replaying the nonsense, got himself totally believing his own crap. According to them finances are very limited, so why would the electorate continue to support 30 of them unless the electorate has become retarded. . crowd is now leeching off the taxpayer, it is too bloated and none of them have the decency to take a 5 or 10% pay cut to help the economy, too self-serving, however Jones is overly confident it will be a landslide, so was Mitt Romney (Mutt Robme)

  33. Some one mentioned to me that he had warned one of the arrogant ministers last year, “I am calling you now and you are rude and obnoxious, but don;t worry by next year you will be calling me, then I will be in control”. I guess next year is here. They continue to forget they are paid to serve us, we do not serve them, some voters are not even aware of this and allow the politicians to run rough shod over them. Some education is in order.

  34. maybe barbados needs mia- surely the people are tired of getting it up the wazoo

  35. watching and waiting Avatar
    watching and waiting

The issue which should attract universal attention in this election is the issue of the management of our public finances.

I read this article which I’m sharing in this post which puts the issue into perspective.

Since Grantley Adams, through Errol Barrow, Tom Adams, “Bree” St. John, Erskine Sandiford, and Owen Arthur, no Government in Barbados has borrowed to pay its current expenses and only on a few occassions have governments run current account deficits.

The Thompson/Stuart administration has run a current account deficit for all five years of the administration. The result has been spiraling public debt.

Whatever we may think of Owen Arthur, he managed public finances in a way that meant he never ran a current account deficit even if he had all these alleged cost over-runs and whatever else he’s accused of.

  36. Looks like the genie immigrated.

  37. @ Balance..I am one of many in Barbados that finds the Arthur Administration to have been openly corrupted. If Owen Arthur were employed at a private company, that $75,000 check would have been a problem. For me it still is.

  38. @ Well Well

I am beginning to like you. Did you use the handle “Juju” on another blog?

  39. So true Hamilton they send a young bank teller to jail yesterday for misappropiating less than the amount Owen received and pocketed from CLICO. I sorry for the young misguided girl now she’s off to the Owen Arthur Prison at Dodds. There are many of us who think he should join her there.

“RIGHT NOW THINGS DRED ARTHUR SHOULD BE IN A PRISON BED”

  40. Barbados Tourist arrivals about to go up.

“Environment Canada issues winter storm warning for Toronto
“We’re due for it,” says meteorologist, foreseeing 14-19 centimetres of snow starting late Thursday.”

  41. @Hamilton Hill

The issue here is whether the government tried to prosecute this matter of Arthur depositing funds to his personal account. Put up os shut up, Barbadians have moved on even if we can deposit if this is wise or not.

  42. The cheque was made payable to Owen Arthur! If a cheque is made payable to you do you not deposit it to your account ? I am sure if that cheque was intended for the BLP it would have been made payable to the BARBADOS LABOUR PARTY. My question is why was this cheque given to Owen while the DLP at the time only got 30,000 or $35,000. Remember Leroy is a DLP supporter but I guess Mr Mascoll was at the helm of the DLP then.ever wonder wonder how much was given to Mr Thompson then back in 2003?

  43. What one is seeing here is the fiundations of corruption becoming the acceptable norm by the electorate even David BU has found himself in that catergory of having to ignore and accept..Sad but TRUE.

  44. @ac

    I agree 100%

  45. Barney Lynch wife owe PM Stuart a debt of gratitude. None knew Barney was married until she introduce him on the Bees flatform in Bay St.

Traversing the island I have seen Barney by his plantation house, saw him by VOB spot him in the vicinity of the Garrison also going about his business in Bridgetown around Pinfold Street but never with the woman in the papers. You can see the poor girl happy to get dress up and come out with the Barnster. Her coming out party only happen after PM Stuart call out Muscle mary for accusing of him of being ugly, black and broad nosed.
Muscle Mary wife is obligated to send the PM a note of thanks.

  46. One remembers the words of RICHIE HAYNES in the 1986 election that IT IS APPEARANCES THAT COUNT. NOT TRUTH!

IS THIS WHAT IS BEING APPLIED HERE?
    LOL

  47. When a country has decided as awhole they are willing to give corupt politicians a passing grade no matter how small the offence or wether proven or not as such offences do leave a blemish on those with whom it is being associated and as such the parties involved should not be awarded to govern or dictate what is in the country best interest. .for in so doing we the people have indeed reached the bottom of the barrell.

  48. @ David….I do not agree. In no way do I give my Dems a pass on your point. That however does not mean that Owen gets a pass in the court of public opinion. His conduct in this matter needs to remain as an issue,as well as the hanky panky in the ministry of health that predates this admin.and has been continued in relation to the QEH.It spells conflict of interest and needs to be talked about. How else do we get these guys to understand that we are tired of the same ole, same ole?A new BLP gov. may return Jerome Walcott to the min.of health, and Barney to tourism.Rewards for wuttlessness.

  49. Why must an appointment to be made at the QEH take two and a half hours. What has changed at the QEH? These people have no respect for peoples time

  50. The problem with you selfserving BLP yardflows is no matter what the DLP does to keep the country from falling off the fiscal cliff left by OSA nothing is never going to be good enough except the BLP intent of selling the country to the highest bidder under the disguise of RECONSTRUCTION of the economy’

really and truly ac i do not want to get into the political battles between your side and the other side but do you not think that it can also be said that you are disengenuos for wanting people to believe that mr arthur did nothing for barbados in his 14 years in power but was re-elected on three occasions a feat second only to our father of independence.have you never heard about the CIVIL ESTABLISHMENT AMENDMENT ORDER OF 1998 WHICH TRANSFORMED THE LIVES OF THOUSANDS OF GOVERNMENT CASUAL EMPLOYEES BY RESTORING TO THEM FULL PENSION BENEFITS TAKEN AWAY FROM THEM BY THE 1971 AMENDMENT TO THE PENSION LEGISLATION
