Is there a law that says containers must be taken to the homes of importers and businesses BEFORE being thoroughly stripped, searched by police, task force officials and sniffed out by dogs.
That should be a new law going forward…no containers can leave the port BEFORE being stripped.
The AG and ministers are acting like it’s the drug and gun traffickers and importers are the ones responsible for legislating and enforcing the laws of the land….and not the elected ministers….why do they continue to act that way and have for decades, both governments.

Well, Barbados Port cannot handle any more container unstuffing, this is why they are moved to businesses.
Years ago the Port invested in an extremely expensive container x-ray machine so all moving off-site for unstuffing would be scrutinised. That machine is no longer being used.
Let’s not forget that one of our ministers is openly financially supported by one of the biggest dopers in the history of this country, who now also holds a civil service job. I would love to see the CV that netted him his current position. He would certainly be an import/export expert.

What kind of “leader” waits for Customs people to agree with the imposition of Cameras? Any cretin would know that here is plenty nuff $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ involved for Customs Officers, Union Bosses, Politicians etc etc.
Does the port have Xray or other Imaging equipment to check for hidden compartments, illicit materials etc????? Probably not, since too many dont want to find such.
Surely the Police and relevant “leaders” know what is going on and should already have used the opportunity presented by the threats made by the video against Police/ Govt, to DISARM the vagabonds. If the criminals knew how to shoot at least 8-10 would have been killed on this Kadoomet day. SIX yr old kid shot!!!! Hoping that on August 11th govt bring to table the rise in crime violence that is making a huge wave acroos barbados issuing a stern warning of its intent of furthering technology at our port of entry.
Lest we forget that when AG made an assesment of concern for more monitoring by way of cameras to be place in our port of entry the Unions were first out of there box with their usual muscular language to rubbish the necessity and condemn the Ag statement
Fools as thevUnions have shown to be they are now being wrong as turn of events and surge in criminal activity points the finger in a direction that clearly shows that illegal guns are making they way by barbados port of entry and furthermore the gun power these guns possess are not made in barbados and are sold at a large price on commercial markets which makes it hard for the hands that use them to activate violence at free will.
The long and short of this wave of violence can be attributed to an under ground market or individuals who have acess to our system which can be easily corrupted when not observed. -

My concern is always for the poor and the innocent majority.I keep pleading for a forum/ blog where top thinkers can solve Bim’s problems and contribute to Development Planning. I continue saying that they need to examine closely the history and reasons why other small island nations are and have been performing ie Mauritius/ Singapore.
We are clever enough to learn and adapt some concepts, naturally we can’t learn much regarding mining in M since we dont have minerals, diamonds. There are many concepts that could be instructive, we just need to plan for GDP growth above $25k/ capita within 10 yrs.Bim should be more diversified with at least 5 “industries” / Services, which are capable of steadying the nation when a couple are in recession/ decline.
We need a forum/ blog for Business pros to assist those requiring mentorship and questions answered.
Moving Bim forward, while not easy, is not beyond our capability. Where there is a will there is a way.

AG on brasstacks just now has stated that it was a situation of gang on gang violence that started in Westbury road and the dead man ran towards the festivities and his shooters did not stop trying to kill him hence the numbers injured with gun shots.

An important position like Commissioner of Police was politicized and downgraded in the eyes of those of us who were brought up to have nuff respect for the church,the police and other disciplined services,nurses,postmen,health inspectors and such like positions of authority.I again recall the only person who raised an objection to the handling of the Dottin matter was former Dean HE Crichlow himself a former member of the Police Service Commission.

The buck stops at the Attorney General in a small island there are too many guns in the hands of terrorists, that’s really what the block boys are. The borders remain porous. It is high time for dialogue with Customs to shift from words to deeds and seal the borders to the importation of illegal weapons.
The present action plan of the police is obviously not working. Go back to the drawing board. Come with a strategy to root out the terrorists on the blocks and dark spots where they assemble to plot. Law abiding citizens pass spliff smoking terrorists daily, the police know them. Bring anti gang laws. Stiffen sentences and cut the soft talk Mr. Attorney General we are dealing with murderers not toddlers. The police are doing a good job. The gun crimes by the terrorists is a weak point.
