berniesanders_hillaryclintonThe stakes are high in the epic battles brewing in NYC, on both sides. The Dems up dey are fighting for 291 delegates, with 247 up for grabs. The Clintons have already secured the support of about 44 โ€˜super-delegatesโ€™. By now the Clinton camp would have thought that their obvious shoo-in for the nomination would have been a fait accompli. But a near octogenarian is attempting to ensure that only one Clinton would ever be able to discharge seminal fuels within the oval office.

On the DNC side, we must agree that Bernie Sanders is the lesser to two great evils. For in this less than perfect world we are told, ad infinitum, that that is the best we can dare to imagine. This is false of course, and there are other more attractive options.

Firstly, we must consider allowing the entire system to collapse. This obvious option is likely, sooner or later, with or without the help from any of the actors involved.

Secondly, if the Clinton people and DLC democrats continue their electoral shenanigans, Bernie must let it be known that he will strike a blow into the very heart of the party. Letting it die on the vine by mounting as a third party candidature. He cannot behave like Jesse Jackson and corral tens of millions of voters into the arms of an untrustworthy Democratic Party apparatus. The Dems have been the graveyard for all progressive movements within the US of A. It is where social movements goโ€ฆโ€ฆโ€ฆโ€ฆโ€ฆโ€ฆ..to die!

Thirdly, efforts must be catalyzed to force Kaiser Drumpf to behave similarly on the Republican side, throwing their party too into an inevitable breakup. Certainly it does not deserve being considered a national party, based solely on its positions over time.

Some of us have long been weary about much of Bernieโ€™s political tactics, even strategy. His reservations about launching frontal attacks on Clinton have been particularly troubling. We have communicated that message through Cornel West. Since then we have witnessed some aggressive movement in the โ€˜rightโ€™ direction but much more could be done to slay โ€˜the dragon ladyโ€™, politically, of course.

Though he has a history of being one of the few high-profiled โ€˜Whiteโ€™ men to support Jesse Jackson in both his 1984 and 1988 runs, it remains incongruous that a Clinton could pretend to have a better inside track to โ€˜Blackโ€™ folks and their votes when as a practical matter most of Bernieโ€™s political positions are more aligned to African-Americans collective thinking than Hillary Clintonโ€™s plutocratic, neo-liberal, racist, Zionist, warmongering rhetoric and actions.

Clinton is a known murderer of world leaders, a known genocidaire of the Palestinian peoples; a carpet kisser; she is complicitous in imposing a fake political marriage on the American people; a criminal who caused the death of a diplomat, and others, in Benghazi when her State Department oversaw the stealing of Libyaโ€™s weapons for transfer to al-Qaeda and ISIS, for the creation of the present confusion in Syria; the overthrowing of duly elected governments in Honduras, Ukraine, Venezuela and elsewhere. Indeed, the crimes of the Clintons will require forests to properly detail. Save the forest, defeat the Clintons.

Bernie has won 8 of 9 recent contests. Even the one he supposedly lost has revealed evidence of Clintonian rigging. As a non-religious Jew, he has called for evenhandedness in relationship to the Palestinian ongoing genocide. His is a revolutionary position which goes counter to the demands of AIPAC, popular media and all the central narratives emanating from Washington.

This is the first time Hillary Clinton has had a real fight for anything. She walked out of the White House and was given a Senate seat having not ever holding a elective political position of any kind, lower rank, even as dog-catcher. In that political game participants are generally expected to start at the bottom and work their way up, not Hillary!

Based on that largesse, Hillary Clinton then felt deserving of the highest political office in the land. In that process it was fair game for the Clintons to spew racist, dog-whistling slogans, against Obama. How dare that โ€˜Blackโ€™ boy attempt to impede the โ€˜mightyโ€™ Clinton, DLC machine?

Now the Bern has a chance to prevent unparrelled levels of immorality from winning political power, again. And โ€˜Blackโ€™ people, as relentlessly loyal Dems supporters, consistently in the ninety percentile, have the collective power to slap this wicked woman in her face with a Bernie victory in NYC next week.

Even after that humiliating defeat it will continue to be painful to see people like the mother of Trayvon Martin, the mother of Sandra Bland, finding cause to support the woman who call โ€˜Blackโ€™ men predators, sat in the White House while her husband put โ€˜Blackโ€™ men, in their hundreds of thousands in jail, just to prove to โ€˜independentโ€™ voters that he was hard on crime. Hillary Clinton just sees โ€˜Blackโ€™ people as chattel who can be brought to do her bidding but she will NEVER talk about taking the constitutional measures to avoid more โ€œBlackโ€™ mothersโ€™ suffering.

The much larger โ€˜Hispanicโ€™ community has no reason to vote for Clinton either. As Secretary of State she joined with Obama in deporting hundreds of thousands of โ€˜Latinosโ€™, dividing families, causing the deaths of many driven into the arms of Coyotes and left wandering in western deserts.

โ€˜I am the Bernโ€™ because in this war against the Clintons, Bernie Sanders is the evil of two ‘lessers’. These are the cards given and now we have a chance to play our hand WE MUST DEFEAT HILLARY RODHAM CLINTON in NYC, utterly and completely! I will prefer to be wrong by support Bernie than to be right by supporting the greatest evil on earth.

Isnt that a shame. So many young people now owe upwards of 500,000 dollars in student loans for that requisite university degree, years of studying to qualify and the only jobs available does not require one; that problem is worldwide. Another big scam to imprison young people in debt for most of their adult life.

  13. I’ve figured out what politically correct means when polls are done.

“Uncomfortable with” is a politically correct term

Thus, 7/10 Americans are “uncomfortable with” Donald Trump as president but only 6/10 are “uncomfortable with” Hilary Clinton for president!!

Sounds funny, but translated into English this becomes ….

Thus, 7/10 Americans are scared sh!tless with Donald Trump as president but only 6/10 hate Hilary Clinton for president!!

Sanders is appealing to the young vote and the non traditional. Clinton represents the establishment. Obama promised change and has fallen short, there is a vacuum. Can you imagine if Sanders runs as an independent and Trump does the same?

@David, “Can you imagine if Sanders runs as an independent and Trump does the same?” ———– The wonderful cynic in me imagines that quite well…it would make this election cycle one of the absolute most economically satisfying in the US –EVER. The number of consultants and campaign staff across the key states required to do the local legwork and the get out the vote (not including the volunteers of course) would be mind-boggling in comparative terms. Advertising across the networks, cable etc would be raised by an exponent of at least 2 I expect.

The realist in me says it would be ludicrous for either of them to do that. Would Bernie be saying that his moorings to the Democratic party are so loose that he is willing to fly in the face of the party votes’ decisions and launch an independent campaign? … Thereby splitting the vote and giving his opponents a chance at victory…how would that help his long term and indeed his long time support for his various programs/plans.

The same basically goes for Trump but he started this campaign with an absolutely different agenda so going ‘rouge’ with a third party would certainly fit his agenda…BUT does he really want to spend the type of money needed for that? Has he suggested at any point that he has a tendency to spend money unless there is a clear and definite benefit down-stream. This is not a ‘bankruptcy’ (lose of money) that he can offset as he would with one of his casinos!

MoneyB…many high profile blacks in the US are Repugnants, all display some type of mental retardation/defect like Carson and the party knows this, it’s no secret, no mystery and none care, they make up numbers and are wealthy enough to pay for these 1,000 dollar a plate dinners, it’s just that he was dumber than usual and made them look bad, but all their candidates are doing the same..so, just a clown show in progress. These people are not exceptional, they are just politicians.

The Democrats are just an extension of the Repugnants, always have been, the only issues crowd their minds upon being elected are mideast manipulation, Africa manipulation and everything else except what the citizens are being affected by in their country….same old. They are not exceptional, they are just politicians.

Sanders brings a wealth of experience, but we shall see.

  19. The comments here conveniently omit some salient facts, viz. (1) Obama and his appointed Attorney General appear to be protecting Hillary from indictment over her careless use of emails with government secrets, and (2) black women are voting more enthusiastically for Hillary Clinton than they voted for Obama. This is just what you would expect given the currency of feminist ideology, and the unfortunate way identity politics has taken hold in America and the rest of the Western world. Although Hillary is a corrupt and incompetent dunce (she famously failed her bar exams after passing through Yale University Law School, arguably the best law school in the US), black women will vote for her in droves because its ‘time for a woman’.

  20. The situation with the U.S elections is exactly what will happen in Barbados next year. In the BLP, few BLPites really like Mia and there are many seasoned members of the party who are ready to dethrone her. The same thing goes for the D’s, if the DLP wins the next general elections, Stuart will not be P.M, I expect Inniss will lead a revolution against him and take over. Remember when USA catch a cold we get it too. None of the candidates running in the USA are qualified to occupy the White House and none of the present leaders here in Barbados, are qualified to occupy Ilaro Court.

The reason we know black women are voting for Hillary with unprecedented enthusiasm is that we have analyzed the results of more than 20 primaries held to date. More than 95% of black female voters are choosing Hillary and they are turning out at very high.rates. The results have been nearly the same in every state so far. In voting, the past is the best predictor of the future

I must admit I know sweet nothing about the US political system.
I am nevertheless amused, that in nominating a presidential representative for both the Rep and Dem banners, they have delegates who are guaranteed a vote, which is not pledged but can vacillate. I believe these form +/-20% of all delegates. Shows how the Orwellian commandment “All animals are equal” can be modified to add “but some animals are more equal than others”.

The 1860โ€™s called, it want its century back, by the time the 1960โ€™s rolled around Jackie Robinson (who BTW was a Republican) wrote an article titled โ€œNow I know how it felt to be a Jew in Hitlerโ€™s Germanyโ€ after attending the 1964 Republican that nominated Barry Goldwater. This was the same Goldwater that voted against the passage of the Civil Rights Bill and called it unconstitutional, between 1963 and 1964 Robinson penned several articles critical of the Republicans and their racist attitudes, these articles were published in the Black Newspapers of the day e.g. Norfolk Journal & Guide; New York New Amsterdam News and Chicago Defender. MLK (also Republican) penned an article in New York New Amsterdam News that read in part โ€œOn the urgent issue of Civil Rights Senator Goldwater represents a philosophy that is morally indefensible and politically and socially suicidalโ€ It goes onto say โ€œMr. Goldwater articulates a philosophy which gives aid and comfort to the racists.โ€

All this before Nixon and the Southern strategy of the latter part of the 1960โ€™s.

It is not just the Party but which people are in control. I dislike Party Politics as I think for myself and hate the corruption, shenanigans, gamesmanship etc. Personally, I believe each Nation should develop a list of Objectives, Strategies etc to progress and stop pulling the steering wheel from left to right. If a certain group believes that Giving LazyASSES $$$$ and leaning Left is great then they should have their own country or freely encouraged to MOVE elsewhere.

There is no doubt that there are some people of all races that are pure rabid racists, they obviously should not be permitted Political Power in a racially diverse Nation.

Notice how Singapore has had a rather consistent plan for 50+ yrs and the results have been spectacular ie gone from overgrown fishing village Entrepot to have a higher standard of living than the former Coloniser at $56k/capita. Singapore does NOT have natural resources like Sth Africa, The Gulf et al. Mr Lee imprisoned Chinese who were intent on exploring Communism and I certainly agree with this approach (or send them back to China). Why waste time, resources and energy on a philosophy that is totally antithetical to human nature?

@David April 15, 2016 at 8:38 PM re …Will Bernie take New York next week and if he does what does it portend.—————-

Very unlikely that he will win the NY primary but even if he did it would portend no final success for him. The proverbial battle victory, followed by the final defeat in the war.

Of course it would paint former Sec Clinton as a weak nominee and give great pause re her national success for the Presidency.

The Bern has been a formidable candidate….there is a certain Grenvillenesque quality to the man…wonderfully honest, respectful and not a duplicitous bone to him….but at times his narrative needs to be tighter and much more definitive!

This Rome trip is absolutely Grenvillenesque…no real political upside, but good for the soul!

  37. de pedantic Dribbler Avatar
    de pedantic Dribbler

Correct Mr Blogmaster, challenged it somewhat…because the author does not touch on my Grenville comparison at all…LOLL…oh lawd…. But seriously though, not really you know.

I was very brief so let’s use the opportunity as the goodly journalist offered for a little prolix.

So my cryptic, ‘Of course it would paint former Sec Clinton as a weak nominee and give great pause re her national success for the Presidency” was expanded perfectly by the Post with “…in that scenario, however, a Sanders victory would force the media to take him seriously. Or, to put it another way, a Clinton defeat on her home turf would signal that she is in real trouble or, at the very least, looks shakier than most people believe her to be.”

As the piece noted there is a lot of arcane stuff to all this primary election blarney. In fact one thing I hope comes out of this and the noise from Trump is that folks realise how ‘LOCAL’ politics really is …. Particularly so too BAJANS recognize that for our actions to force change we have to get down, down into the weeds to understand and strategise to really up-end operations…But back to the Bern.

Even more cryptic was my comment ‘Very unlikely that he will win the NY primary but even if he did it would portend no final success for him…. followed by the final defeat in the war.’

After a win in NY Bernie would STILL have to win all of the upcoming states by landslide leading into California to effect any chance at the nomination because of the quirks like this highlighted in the piece: “… 247 pledged delegates will be awarded in the primary. Eighty-four will be allocated proportionally according to the statewide vote; the rest will be assigned proportionally in each of 27 congressional districts. …. the bottom line …: Sanders could win the statewide popular vote and still wind up with fewer delegates if his support is concentrated in just a few districts.”

So David, when Barrow repeated that all politics is LOCAL…the remark is as real as can be.

This election cycle would definitely be noted by historians as absolutely the most mind-blowing period in the US primary process if Bernie wins in NY and then likely STILL not get the delegate count to win the nomination. The Post said as others have “He’s won seven of the past eight states… Yet these actual victories have done little to alter the prevailing sentiment … that Sanders is on a quixotic quest.” That is the harsh reality.

This has been a great Bernie Sanders campaign; absolute pure gold in some instances but tilting at the windmill is yet the outcome.

And if I may repeat from above that Bajans should not scoff at this US discussion but extrapolate carefully and realize that the Dr Agard saga reinforces that one has to get into the weeds LONG before election time to really WIN.

If Trump had REALLY intended from INCEPTION to be a serious contender he would have had to coordinate and organize his precinct people months ago to be prepared.

Remember a US politician WON the popular vote in absolute numbers but LOST the presidential election. A quirk but a reality in US politics.

Thanks to Bernie and Trump this election has been the perfect civics class on politics…consider Ben Carson taking now about the US electoral college process…as some here talk about a need for CONSTITUTIONAL change as we lead into our election cycle !

Great to learn on the job, but…. nothing ever beats proper preparation!

You stated that New York is Clinton’s stomping ground, she represented the state for 8 or 9 years. There is an expectation she will mop the floor with Bernie. Dont you think the fact that Bernie was born in New York will give him some play? And if he does better than expected, even i he does not win NY – he may be able to sway some of the pledged (super) delegates? Educate us please!

  39. de pedantic Dribbler Avatar
    de pedantic Dribbler

Mr Blogmaster you can be quite provocative at times…well all the time really… Me, the illiterate Educate BU scholars…LOLLL. But I can share my paltry dribbling ‘skills’.

—– “… New York is Clintonโ€™s stomping ground, she represented the state for 8 or 9 years. There is an expectation she will mop the floor with Bernie. Dont you think the fact that Bernie was born in New York will give him some play?”—–

For all practical purposes, NO. The press does show some nice murals in NY heralding his roots there – in Brooklyn I believe it is – and as noted he has completely energized his campaign across the state but being out of state for most of his adult life there is really no abiding affinity to him in that regard.

Think of it in terms of his Jewish heritage. He does not plumb the Jewish vote as one would expect, for example. As I recall he was the only candidate who did not attend the AIPAC Jewish organization conference.

So using that Jewish roots in a rough contextual comparison to his being raised as a boy in NY should give some perspective.

Generally I would add this: Some neighborhoods in the US have changed markedly from what they were 50+ years when Sanders lived in NY. Although the overall demographics in places like NY have not changed per se it’s still likely that many of his older contemporaries have shifted around as others encroached. But contemporaries or not, or middling Jewish support Bernie Sanders has lit a fire under the youth in NY and is playing to very large crowds in the city areas. Thus one way or other he will definitely embarrass Hilary Clinton in her ‘home’ state

—– ” And if he does better than expected, even if he does not win NY โ€“ he may be able to sway some of the pledged (super) delegates? ”

Again NO, David. Bernie has a large and still growing campaign war-chest and will use that to try to sway voters ahead of the convention but as confident as he is re flipping super delegates he has a hard road to hoe as deep down many of the Democratic establishment (elected representative and key elected party officials) who make up the super delegates do not believe that he can win the general.

Frankly, that is a bit of a dichotomy in that some public polls do suggest that he can do just that against Trump or Cruz..but those are hypotheticals based on now and not when the attack ads start to pile on in an actual contest.

Do I think he could he win… YES. But can he convince a Democratic group of super-delegates many of whom came of age politically under Bill Clinton and then matured under Barack Obama (and his Sec of State, Hilary Clinton) of that is a completely different matter.

Hilary Clinton has a lot of baggage of course (and not just from the suitcases with her wardrobe—geez has she worn the same outfit twice….LOLL) but Bernies’s socialist rhetoric is also quite problematic at the national level.

Very complex primary season in many regards but it will come down to organization and long term support….unfortunately Clinton trumps (ahhhh) Sanders there!

Obviously Sanders being a Jew wants to show respect for the Pope, especially before the NY vote. NY has many R Catholics from PR, Dominican, Italy, Ireland etc. The Bern is clever, appear to have the Pope’s BLESSING! “Feel the Bern”, is he an old pervert?

Their process is the most excellent example of how power players ensure that they always control things…all legal and properly defined too! ….. It is complex, convoluted and completely controlling!

I contend that Herr Trump NEVER planned to be president…this was a lark to expand his brand; he completely exceeded his expectations.

That is obvious to me because no businessman as successful and detailed as he has been would have started such a serious campaign (and remember this is his SECOND try) without a careful analysis and at minimum placement of acolytes in key problem states n preparation for delegate issues.
