SHELL Oil Spill and Southern Farmers

There is the saying hope springs eternal.

Local media has not reported recently on the plight of the Southern Farmers group who have suffered as a result of leaking pipes by SHELL Oil Company. BU assumes if the group of long sufferers at Gibbons had been satisfactorily reimbursed Minister of the Environment Denis Lowe would have had reason to update the public. On the flip side, we have not heard about any protest march planned by the Southern Farmers Group to indicate the matter remains a concern for them.

The long sufferers should not despair at the length of time it has taken SHELL to make good. There is a report posted to Amnesty International website of an out of court settlement in the amount of 55 million pounds to compensate a community in the Niger Delta that was affected by an oil spill as well.

    Shell wants to sell all for 1 Billion USD, Next the Shell dealing with the Lawyers in Barbados for farmers that dont own the land they are farming is another problem, To be sold to them by Sir COW? and to have a lawyer named Ralph Thorne? If this is the case then all will be crooked from the start, Ask the Farmers , Yet the News in Barbados reports less or none of this, Well the DBLP bought the Nigger Slaves that owns them , Hook line and Sinker,
    Here Comes the C.U.P.

    55 million pounds is like a small stone thrown in the ocean, as compensation for the amount of untold damage this company has heaped on the lives of those Delta residents.
    If 55 billion pounds was mentioned, will be a start.

    The length of time and the countless number of lives lost over the years this company has been mining oil in the Delta region cannot be measured in terms of a price or being compensated.

    Prison is not the answer for those responsible. The appropriate action would be for the government to take control of the said company.

    The profits made from the company must be used to improve the aesthetics of the region, by burying the pipe line underground and returning the area to its original.

    Improve the infrastructure of the country by building roads, building schools, providing clean water for consumption,transport, etc.

    The corrupt politicians are responsible for allowing this company to do business unimpeded for far too long.

    When a former president was forced from office, he took comfort in the country where the same company was head-quartered, taking with him a cool 5 billion to cater for his university studies.

    He left behind, majority starving and living from hand to mouth; many still today.

    Those responsible for enforcing the company to abide by the regulations in this country, are too weak to force compensation for the poor farmers and to ensure the company abides by the laws of the country.

    Marching to where?
