Wade Gibbons

The following was extracted from Wade Gibbons’ Facebook Page. He is a reporter for Barbados Today and is a former policeman.

Some excellent administrative and proactive moves by acting Commissioner of Police Tyrone Griffith. He is going to make a terrific leader of the RBPF, a position he should have held a long time ago.

The phones of innocent law-abiding Barbadians could not have been tapped by Dimwit Dottin without the knowledge and participation of some in the Special Branch which Dottin once headed. It was an ongoing criminal act by Dottin, deserving of imprisonment and not pension, and as such the hierarchy of that specialised department should have squealed on the thug and not be drawn into his criminality. No commissioner of police – an incompetent one at that – can compel a police officer to commit a crime.

If the force is to be purged of Dottin’s criminal presence, then of necessity some house-cleaning has to be done in departments such as the Special Branch. One transferred from that department is as close to me as a brother and I love him as such but wrong is wrong. Now that the Dottin cancer has been removed the organs of the body should gradually start to heal and return to a state of normalcy. Full praise to Commissioner Griffith. May God guide your every move.

Dottin also slept on Violet Beckles case ,,and talked to her every night he could on her home phone., I hope he have tapes of the late night talks and the CJ Simmons did the same ,calling late at night to pick her brains,
Let see if he also made tape of himself and the CJ also, It would make great NEWS. As for all names were called in this massive land fraud case that the COP Dottin put to the word civil and not criminal .
To be charged as criminal along with wire tapping and with holding information ,Protecting the BLP of these charges that need to go to a real DPP .
We hope that this new COP Griffith go and see Station Sgt White at the Fraud Squad and see what he has in his files , Then send the police to pull them out their beds and charge them over the weekend so they can spend a little time in jail. before some crook judge give them easy bail.

WELL WELL. I could not agree with you more, I am both shocked and I am disgusted that something like Mottley can believe herself so powerful to order private citizens phones to be Wiretapped, it is disgraceful, I read it and it made my skin crawl.

Mottley installed Dottin ahead of more suitable candidates for this posting but because she knew he would always be indebted to her she instruct him to do ILLEGAL things from his position of authority, she issued Dottin his instructions and he obeyed, what a sick pathetic world we live in, with people like Mottley who is prepared to go into the gutter to control the access to people and the use of their phones for private and personal discussions, to reading personal text messages to reading personal emailed messages.

Now there CAN BE NO JUSTIFICATION for Mottley to instruct Dottin to eavesdrop on messages of her former boss Arthur and more recently the conversations of Prime Minister Thompson and now Prime Minister Stuart and his head of security to the point of having a conversation of the Prime Minister’s security detail transcribed and stored, who the hell does Mottley Think She Is ??? The KGB, MI 5, FBI or CIA ??

Is this what people do in search of power and control of people in this island ?

I have always said Mottley is a sick person morally and with this more recent exposure my belief is even more convinced that she should be set aside and taken out of contact with regular decent people and be far removed from the political landscape of this country she is bad for the Barbadian way of life after all she is still a Mottley and still one who would like to make Gay and Lesbianism legal and so too Prostitution and with this revelation who knows how far she is prepared to go to get what she wants even assigning ILLEGAL WIRETAPPING of our Prime Ministers phone calls to elevate herself.

  6. This is serious on one level but hilarious on another.

Reminds me of “back in the day” when it was not a good idea to have a girlfriend working at the Telephone company.lol

What did these geniuses plan to do with the information gleaned from the wiretaps?

Like most serious issues in Barbados this is just much ado about nothing.

Let us hope that the RBPF will become a force Bajans can be proud of.

The COP before Dottin also had a rough time from the Barbados Labour Party administration.

They were always trying to find out who he voted for.

He was practically hounded out of office by the BLP administration because they believed that he was DLP.

Most of that information was used for purely political purposes.

David Thompson complained constantly about his phones being tapped. A particular Manager at the Advocate news was under constant wire tap because the BLP believed he was a friend of David Thompson.

The strange thing about it from the onset of Barbados Underground the blog owner who would have to know about this insidious activity yet he never published a single article condemning it.

Simply because it was his people doing it.

Thank goodness with the election of the DLP all of this rubbish was stopped.

  22. @BU(Not BU)
Do not understand your question. The above was posted to Gibbons FB Page, a former policeman. He posted it under his own name which means Dottin can sue if false. Then there is Bowen who accused Dottin of wiretapping his phone, as you know Bowen was reinstated to his job after a protracted period of suspension. Also Dottin in his Affidavit in response to Anderson Bowen never denied that he engaged in wiretapping but that because of national security considerations he could not expand on the matter.
Here is a blog from 2010 when we blogged concerns about the matter.
    https://bajan.wordpress.com/2010/11/11/is-illegal-tapping-of-phones-monitoring-text-messages-e-mails-occurring-in-barbados-who-is-guarding-the-guard-anderson-bowen-can-you-help-us-please/
    What is your point?

  23. @ Right versus Wrong

If this list is correct there are two immediate actions that should be taken: first individuals should take legal action, and since most of them are lawyers, they can make that decision for themselves; but, as a constitutional issue, the attorney general must order an immediate judicial review with powers to order witnesses to appear, and do so under caution.
This is a serious constitutional issue: abuse of office; conspiracy to commit misconduct in public office; illegal tapping of telephones, and any number under the communications legislation.
Charges should also be brought against the telephone company.

Wuh lawds and oh la la to this one.Now I know that all wunna bajans know that regardless of what powerhouses like THE M.I.A, and others do, not one shite gine come out of it. The system is to interwoven in deals and other means of acquiring wealth thus those who should press to have these illegal actors brought before the court, cannot do so because they are part of the organized criminal activity of the M.I.A i.e Making Infelicitous Activity. I believe that the entire judicial and political system of Barbados is questionable at all levels and that white collar crime at the political and higher administrative levels is just as common and widespread as pulling teeth. You will never see any of the power houses in Barbados who knowingly and intentionally engage in organized criminal activity bought before the courts on charges. The day that happen is the day that shit turns to gold..

Now this fella who wrote this piece got some big balls because he seems sure of his accusations against Dottin describing him with what he deems as suitable superlatives. I hope that they will not be any repercussions concerning his chosen words. But then again if he got proof to Dottin’s wire tapping and the influence of the M.I.A and its agents then boy u ain’t got one ass to worry about. But be careful how ya accuse because Bahbadus is a funny place where people does sue and get money for knowingly engaging in criminal activity. If you doubt me- ASK THE FIRST NOEL!!!

  25. @Wiretapping Anyone ? | July 31, 2013 at 8:02 PM |

I am fascinated by this post. I will not pretend for one second that, much as I like MAM, I do not have several serious reservations about her. Frankly, I used to think that MAM would be the biggest disaster Barbados could ever endure if she was allowed to lead the country. Then, O$A debunked her as leader of the opposition and the quiet dignity she exhibited, won me over. Quiet dignity was never before n accusation anyone could level at MAM, but she exhibited it and continues, for the most part, to maintain it. We need to know if it is genuine, or just an act. Also by her subsequent acts, she appeared to have turned a corner and started to become a serious statesman.

Nonetheless, her past bothered me. Things like being complicit and benefiting from the appointment of David Simmons (a close relative) as CJ directly from the post of AG and most of all, the extraordinary appointment of Darwin Dottin as CoP. Those and other extremely questionable acts and appointments.

Now, by your allegations, you issue a timely reminder to me and everyone else, not to be too trusting and to hold MAM to a far higher burden of proof that she has indeed changed. Otherwise, hell, we might get Casewell Franklyn as CJ – or AG. OR BOTH!!! BUT, do you have proof?

    So, answer me some questions.

You say, “…..she instruct him to do ILLEGAL things from his position of authority…..”. Do you have in your possession (or are you able to obtain) evidence of what the acts were; and that MAM had, as AG, instructed their commission. If so, are you prepared to produce this evidence to leading silks for them to push for indictment and also most likely to commence massive civil actions? For, if you have this evidence, hard evidence, or if you can obtain it, the service you will have done to your country will be incalculable. And I will provide you the name of the silk to whom to provide it for the group and you can be assured that they will take the necessary action and not sweep it under the rug. And those actions will be aggressive, to say the least.

You also say that MAM instructed Dottin, “….to control the access to people and the use of their phones for private and personal discussions, to reading personal text messages to reading personal emailed messages.” Do you have proof that she did this (and this is most important) while holding the office of AG? Once again, if you can provide this evidence to this group of silks, your service to your country will have been incalculable and I can assure you that it will see the light of day and be acted on fully.

As far as MAM being gay is concerned, I do not agree with you, as is well documented here on BU, that this is anyone’s business but hers and I do not think it is immoral. What I think is immoral are the very anti-gay laws that you say she is attempting to have repealed. It is those laws, out of touch with the laws of the countries upon which Barbados relies for foreign aid, that deny basic human rights, force the less courageous members of our society in a country that is irreverently known as “Bullbados” to hide and their families, instead of being able to openly give them the support and respect and acceptance that they have a right to accept from their families, to turn a blind eye. Those laws it is that place adolescents under considerable pressure when they realise that they are “different” through no fault of their own, sometimes leading to self harm and suicide. In some cases that I know of, juries have acquitted people accused of assault and even murder, because the victims have been gay and, despite the fact that there has clearly been consent FOR YEARS on the parts of the accused adult persons. And some of those victims have been tourists. Those laws, considered unjust and out of date by other countries that provide us with financial assistance and the reliance upon which in those countries, would lead to criminal charges under hate crimes legislation, have been responsible for an alarming amount of blackmail, itself a crime. Worst of all, Barbados is largely a “no-fly” zone for gays and their families and the loss of foreign revenue from the tourism angle is alarming.

MAM is only indictable if Dottin was acting on her instructions when she was AG. Once she ceased to be AG or in the government and Dottin acted on her instructions, the blame attaches to Dottin alone.

There is a presumption of privacy that is the right of all citizens, except in certain very strict circumstances. These include, but are not limited to, the declaration of a state of national emergency and flow from the emergency legislation. Otherwise, there is a strict legal format that must be followed in the tapping of phones and e-mails etc. and the Police must show just cause as to why this tapping is necessary. Problem is that we do not have, as most countries do, protection of privacy legislation (called, in the UK, the Data Protection Act). It is a shameful omission on the part of Barbados. Evidence obtained without the proper legal framework is inadmissible, but that does NOT prevent its use for the purposes of the crime of blackmail. If any AG has instructed the collection of such evidence, they ought to be criminally indicted and know first-hand the Dodds experience.

In any and all events, in your subsequent post you have identified people whose communications you allege have been tapped. Some of these are members of the judiciary….and that is an indictable offence. The more so if it was ordered by an AG, as it strikes at the very heart of the independence of the judiciary. It constitutes interference by the executive with the judiciary.

Worse, if the rights and independence of the judiciary is breached in the manner you suggest, then it is more than likely that the rights of everyone can be so breached……doctor-patient and solicitor-client privilege, even the privilege between husband and wife.

You can now see, but I suspect you knew it before, how important to the country as a whole any hard evidence you (or anyone else) may have (or be able to obtain) in support of your allegations is. You can see how important it is that those carrying out these alleged egregious criminal acts, be held to account. And if you do not have it, then you should not make the accusations.

Finally, I note that in the UK, there is currently a parliamentary enquiry underway into the fact that major law firms have been guilty of phone tapping. The enquiry is led by a Mr Keith Vaz MP and has so far obtained hard evidence of this crime. Indictments are bound to follow, as well as massive, multi-million dollar law suits. This impacts on Barbados in that, if an AG (read government) is able with impunity to breach, at will, the privacy of the judiciary, press and public officials, then what is to prevent local corporations and law firms from doing the same?

And I suspect that you, sir, may have information (or be able to obtain same) that would assist in enlightening us and, possibly, confirming your allegations and I urge you to lay it before us. Here on BU. And to the group of silks. And I declare an interest, in that I believe that my own privileged information has been breached in this way.

I fully support the endorsement of Commissioner Griffith. I think Barbados is blessed and lucky to have him and I wish him all the very best in his difficult task – and it is a very difficult task, as he has to work with the current DPP – at least for the time being, but we are working on that too.

  30. It is always Bushie’s time of month Amused.
Bushmen always tend to have have a bad reaction to shiite.

    It is SO predictable!

Every time someone comes out with a stand for transparency, truth and fairness, we always have some sudden intervention calling for a return to the good old days of everything hidden and all nastiness covered up.

    Caswell is a perennial example.
He goes into an organization, LIKE EVERYONE ELSE, he recognizes that there are underhand actions taking place.
He makes it his business to report it to the authorities:
He alerts the public: he takes it to court…..
…and what do you get…. Persons in high positions (amazingly often LAWYERS) using a lotta shiite jargon and calling for silence, for the messenger to be put on trial, to be sued for all he has ….

Why the €%#¥ should a reporter, who is an ex-policeman not be entitled to raise such a concern? What is this PROOF that you are calling for? Fingerprints? DNA? Tapes? Where do you suggest he find the funds to get such proof…?

Why the %#€¥ don’t you call on DOTTIN to provide proof that he operated according to the OATH OF OFFICE that he presumably took? Is it not the OFFICIALS IN OFFICE who owe us explanations?

Shiite man. Even if the accusations are WRONG ( as Caswell’s sometimes are) the process serves to keep people on their toes, to educate the public and to improve public law.

Bushie expected that post from Ross or some newcomer blogger with something to lose from this matter being ventilated…not from the Bushman’s personal lawyer…

if a law was not broken then the public would be able to voice its concerns with what i think should be against the law in my opinion.

until that happens this is a witch hunt.

  34. @ David (not BU)
Your concerns are valid in a society where there is a general adherence to the rule of law,; where officials can be trusted; where reports are submitted as prescribed; where the systems of justice works.
In such a situation, of course you are right.

But in a situation where we have routinely seen OFFICIAL reports from our Auditor General, from numerous high ranking police officers who have even taken matters to court; from the Body in charge of the force; from numerous unofficial sources:…that all is NOT well…

We have seen the handling of the British tourists rape case and that Relationships with many high level cops are BAD!!

…..and you are calling for proof that this matter is true BEFORE it can even be aired?

In circumstances like this, it is MORE THAN FAIR that the accused come to the public and explain why so many people have been at his throat. HE MAY WELL HAVE A JUSTIFIABLE CASE…..but that is for him to say…not for us to pretend that all is well.

  35. @ Hal Austin

“Charges” have already been brought against the telephone company. The removal of Alex McDonald, ostensibly as a move to address falling profits, is at the intervention rather insistence of the DLP who make certain information available to SLIME/LIME/Cable and Wireless or whatever name they choose to use as the flavour of the month

Ex Sergeant Wade is in a good position to comment I suspect because it has been easy for him to obtain facts from his ex-peers.

  37. What we all need to understand is that in today’s world, even if such matters are officially “hidden” they do NOT go away. It is FAR BETTER to clear the air and move on.
The days of hidden dirty laundry are GONE!
EVERYONE knew all about these accusations before this blog…

It is too easy for anyone to broadcast information across the world. The VERY BEST approach therefore for any official is to be completely open and transparent about such accusations.
This is therefore a great opportunity to CLEAR THE AIR and move on…..or move out….

Anyone who don’t have the guts or the skill for this reality in this century should stay to hell away from public positions…

  38. There is a disgusting incestuous ethos which suffocates the way we think and do business in Barbados. The fact that it exist shows that ‘education’ does not guarantee desired results in a small place like Barbados. We have to find a way to make it work which is away from the traditional.

I know dat you did say dat you ent see nuh value fuh Mia having information pun Faif Harris ( en de res uh we bembers) saying dat she aint get de red eatable panties pun de phone so he ginde hafta eat de Brazilian widout, de artificial sugar) she might even go on to say dat dhe natural sugar sweeter dan a snow cone. pamp, pamp.

Or tek a nex case uh Seethru telling David Seale dat he disappointed dat de ESAF shipment en arrive at de port on time (or OSA meking apologies to de Madam bout de equipment not rising last night)

Yes, yes, yes, i cud identify wid dat one Hants for de mighty “Hammer” doan get up for a year at a time and it is now only a water spout.

Hants, half uh de men in here wondering if de wiretapping equipment dat is up a District A police station, now home by me, like de nex unit dat MIA got at she house in Eden Lodge, but no fellas i only speculating….

Now lemme gi’ you two examples uh how information does be used.

It called “Active and Passive” leveraging.

Sis Headley wait till SHE KNOW DAT de madam pun de emancipation walk en call me dis morning.

Now all de wummans fellowship womens dem know who gine be walking and who going be home. Bringggg, “Bruddah Piece uh De Rock, how is you” followed by alot u long talk and den, “how is you healing down dere?”

Well Hants, you see where she going? Man i tell she i gots to run and shorten de conversation and went through de entire house deleting she numba from evey one uh de 8 remote phones dat register she caller ID!!

I spend nearly 15 minutes looking fuh de Panasonic dat de madam like so bad. Man i did sweating like if i was pun de hairy …

Hants, now i cyan tell de madam dat Sis Headley call, especially since i miss and touch Sis Headly botsie, by accident, twice, during dem sistely hugs dem does give after Sunday service but you see de hold dat MIA got pun me??

All she got to do is to tell me to dun putting my lies heah pun BU and den hint dat she know bout Sista Headley an how she gine tell de madam and I, fearful uh de bobbing, yessss, i know you gine tell me it ent nuh use to me anyways, but i gine be due a nex operation, widout anaesthetics!!

Now suppose i is a man who does discuss my indiscretions ovah de phone wid de young ting up in de Pine, like Minister ***, de girl is over 16 but she ent 18 yet ??

Or de creditors got me by de balls en Mia, or whoevah listening in to my calls, when creditors threatening me to cum fuh de Levin, all de tapper got to do to mek life hell fuh me is to mek an “active” leverage call, to fxuk me up

I hope i clarify de value uh information Hants.

Man de madam out hants and i mekking dis cuntputer sweat, almost as much as when i did look fuh dat phone….

  47. Wiretapping Anyone ?…………..that’s the results of allowing corruption, greed and lies to the taxpayers to fester since the island gained independence………..when Mia allegedly nearly killed Dottin’s daughter with blows, he could not lift a finger against her, but like the Warner/Simmons drama now beginning to play out, you cannot hide the sun, the moon nor the truth.

    “Quiet Dignity”

A treacherous monster is the shark, he never makes the least remark and when he sees you on the sand he never seems to want to land….

But when you once get in his range, his whole demeanour seems to change, he throws his body right about, and his true character comes out

DO NOT BE FOOLED BY MIA AMOR MOTTLEY, SHE IS NOT TO BE TOYED WITH!!!

If you should ever pray that Barbados be spared the fate of Haiti and raising our own “Papa Doc” Duvalier, all of us should fear Mia Mottley and her inexorable “Night of the Long Knives”

Say what you will about Owen “Seethru” Arthur.

HE IS ONE OF THE FEW people who know what MIA MOTTLEY IS CAPABLE OF

His megalomania was fueled the endorphins of power and the augmented wealth that being the Minister in charge of the Town and Country Planning department and history will be kind to him, by not recording his alcoholic binges, BUT it will miss how Owen Arthur singlehandedly saved this country from Tonton Macoute a la Mottley.

You know who I am, Mia, and I do love you so, but I fear your gunas and where they will take you, more than I fear you and your reticent “reach out and touch” policy

“It seems to me most strange, seeing that death, a necessary end, will come when it will come”

The COP before Dottin also had a rough time from the Barbados Labour Party administration.

They were always trying to find out who he voted for.

He was practically hounded out of office by the BLP administration because they believed that he was DLP.

Carson…..that is so like you trying your utmost best to find out if i ever voted and whom i voted for which we will all know in the grand scheme of things mean nothing, but i will surprise you when you least expect it.

Hamilton Hill…………….you are so right, if anything was going to be done Adriel Brathwaite, witness to the buy election, would have done it already, but he more than likely has some real doozzies for skeletons hidden in his closets, so he can do nothing.
