Sir Roy Trotman
Sir Roy Trotman

Having firmly established his bona fides as a bigoted xenophobe with his “Egyptian Jew” reference in describing the owner of Diamonds International, Sir Roy Trotman has now attached ignorant misogynist to his character traits by metaphorically comparing his union situation with the heinous crime of being raped which, according to Sir Roy, he “did not enjoy”.

The inference that under certain circumstances, being raped can be enjoyable evoked the less than enlightened years of my youth when glib males (always males!) were fond of saying that if rape was inevitable the woman might as well relax and enjoy it.
Since Sir Roy claims he is not ready to be put to pasture, he needs to seriously consider undergoing  the process of pasteurization.

  4. another continual series on the serial attack on Roys integrity by any mean necsessary. Right now the taxpayers are being “raped ” by some of the same movers an d shakers and crtics of Roy who refused to pay what they owe the govt. Yes we are all being “raped”

Sorry to read of your mishap. The BU family was not made aware until reading your article today.

  7. In my opinion, describing an Egyptian jew as an Egyptian jew is not racism, but using the word RAPE in the context that Trotman used it to describe not being included to attend an ILO conference that apparently most male members in the UNION sees as friviolous, unnecessary and only a source of personal entertainment, is in my opinion again, callous insensitive, petulant and ignorant of Trotman……….bet he would not be so cavalier with the word rape if a member of his family became a victim……..

  8. Being allowed to rape a country financially is one evil……………crying rape because you have expired your sell by date and don’t want to give up the little power, is by and large the beginning of dementia.

  9. Get well soon Caswell.

  10. The use of rape was an insensitive use of the word and should smart all right thinking women. He needs to apologize. Then again Sir Roy does not apologize does he? We always want to put people on a pedestal believeing that they can’t make mistakes or be criticized.

Thanks for your well wishes. That accident was the reason you were not seeing me on BU. But I am on the mend.

Don’t be too hard on Sir Roy: he is a fossil trying to remain relevant. I have a friend who was raped, he has no right to make light of being raped, especially when he helped to create the situation. Unless he was talking about being raped by his brother Cedric. Trotman created Cedric, and anointed him president of CTUSAB when Cedric was not entitled to elected. Instead of comparing it to rape; it would be more apt if he compared it to being bitten by your own dog.

  14. Caswell get better soon, but they placed you in a wheelchair after an accident when you were complaining of chest pains? Perhaps I am a medical illiterate but if you had sustained a broken rib wouldn’t that be a major problem?

    @David
What is the merit of Ralph Boyce calling for DNA tests for all babies born in Barbados? He is lucky the Atty General didn’t call him the name of some orifice below the waist and behind most people.

  15. @Sargeant

Whether the AG agreed with him or not does not mean he should have been derogatory. Perhaps Boyce by his comment was admitting that we are a known to be a promiscuous people.

One of the problems with that junction , is that it has been newly paved, and could give persons not familiar with that area , that they are still on the main road, as they approached it from Montrose. The junction has also been widened ,and not marked and motorists are unsure which position of the road to take when proceeding towards Oistin.

    Talking about Rape:
My Ear-drums were raped by the CBC this morning and I am not pleased.

The CBC featured David ‘Didi’/ ‘Diva’ Winston, well know Bajan -Homosexual/Gay/Transgender woman on Sunday morning, instant, (today -Sunday)

First of all, to air the show on a Sunday was dis-respectful. There was a time when he/she could not be on the air at all far less on a Sunday talking about something like Gays and homosexual behaviour.

‘Didi’ seems to think that everyone who does not support his/her right to be homosexual is ignorant and that what he/she is doing is morally right.

    I disagree with this view.
We live in a society and as members of the society, we should abide by its rules. Homosexuality is an abomination. The logical conclusion of Homosexuality is extinction. Homosexuality should not be encouraged or glorified just like how any other immoral act such as stealing and telling lies should not be encouraged or glorified. That the persons who commit such acts have rights and that society should not discriminate against such persons simply because they are homosexuals; thieves or liars is to be observed, But society should not encourage such behaviours,

I would not see Didi on the streets and verbally or physically abuse him/her but I believe he/she should keep the homosexual behaviour in the closet where it belongs and not flaunt it as though it is natural, it is the done thing and should be accepted. I say No ! It is not natural behaviour, it is people who feel they have the right to do anything without any responsibility to anyone. It is the same mentality that informs the indiscipline ZR driver, the errant schoolboy and the recalcitrant civil servant or worker

There is no way that Didi should have been on national radio talking in a voice that sounded how it sounded and defending Homosexuality.

    Homosexuality is wrong
Dis-respecting Homosexuals and beating them for being Homosexual is wrong
    Encouraging them is also wrong
    Keep your Homosexuality to yourself

    It is not natural
What is natural is for man and woman to come together and procreate.
Homosexuality is nothing more that deviant learnt behaviour.

The tendency to put people down is still very evident within Barbadian Society.
Sir Roy should be elevated not attacked. We are very good at seeking to destroy some people.
Does not mean , however, that the reference to being rape should be condoned. Sir Roy could have done a better job of describing how he felt without offending affected persons or impacting the sensitivities of others.

We are a bit too snobbish and dismissive of human beings such as ourselves. The AG’s reference to Ralph Boyce is unfortunate. Barbadians are still engaging in some of the worst behaviours of the slave master. There is a bit too much ignorance in Barbadian society. I maintain that the schools, having been taking over by women , are not teaching anything to help individuals –live . The female teachers in the system need to be replaced by male teachers. The females have failed !

I was working on an article about the AG’s comments in relation to Ralph Boyce, when I was involved in the accident. I was extremely disappointed in Adriel Brathwaite, but he can still redeem himself with an appropriately worded apology.

The AG was extremely disrespectful toward Mr. Boyce. He is no character, Ralph has done more for this country than the AG is capable of doing. He was a long-serving Chief Education Officer and when he retired from the Public Service, he was the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture. In 1975, Public Workers Credit Union was failing and membership had fallen to 55, Bro. Ralph took on the task of reviving the credit union with a team of loyal lieutenant. That credit union owes its existence to Ralph Boyce. That is no mean achievement for a character.

Bro. Ralph and I have disagreed on many things over the years but I would never be that disrespectful to refer to him in such terms. He is old enough to be the AG’s father and this really shows the lack of a proper example that our leaders are setting.

I am not suggesting that the AG should agree with Bro. Ralph: I am suggesting that the AG should be more tolerant of other people’s views. Mind you, there might be some merit in taking a DNA sample from everyone, not necessarily newborns, which could be used to identify remains when no other identifying marks are possible. In essence, we should have a DNA registry.

  23. @Caswell

Say what you want about Arthur he has booted many a minister out of his Cabinet for being disrespectful.

  24. Caswell……………i agree with the DNA registry, particularly for females who are seeking child support in identifying fathers………..i think that is where Ralph was trying to go, but must have been to quick for the AG to fully understand the benefits, after all it was this same administration that is willing to support children whose father’s refuse to do so, then they will penalize the fathers to get back the money, how do they propose to do so without DNA testing, after all the first and easiest words to come out of an idiot male’s mouth is “da child en mine” even when it is proved to their embarrassment that it is the fool’s child.

  29. Sir Roy may have some good points to make but what is the good of using cane field or incendiary language? Here is another example: when he referred to Dennis Depeiza, General Secretary of CTUSAB as a teacher who will be sent to represent at the ILO. Did Depeiza pick himself? Didn’t the other other trade unions which make up CTUSAB vote for him to represent them?

  34. Charles Knighton referred to Sir Roy Trotman as a bigoted xenophobe .

    Definition of BIGOT
: a person who is obstinately or intolerantly devoted to his or her own opinions and prejudices; especially : one who regards or treats the members of a group (as a racial or ethnic group) with hatred and intolerance – Websters Dictionary.

The comments of this blogger (Charles Knighton ) are not surprising ,he has used the internet repeatedly to discredit / debase African people and their accomplishments ,see a list of his articles below.
    – Is Black Still Beautiful?
    -Bemuddling African History
    -Black Historical Revisionists Losing Credibility
-When Talent, Ability, Content Of Character Matters More Than Skin Colour

It appear that he doesn’t research his topics or just refuses to acknowledge the facts.
Other blogger refer to him as a Pathological Racist.
This is dedicated to Charles Knighton , I hope you see the light (truth) and that you have more respect for Afican people.

He seems to have special interest in African History and Ancient Egypt , but never presents evidence to support his patently false claims . Below , I have reprinted some of the current information on these topics .

DNA Tribes® Digest January 1, 2012 reveals the DNA results of King Tutankhamen and his family ( Amarna Pharaohs):

    Quote:
Table 1 indicate the STR profiles of the Amarna mummies would be
most frequent in present day populations of several African regions: including the Southern African
(average MLI 326.94), African Great Lakes (average MLI 323.76), and Tropical West African (average
    MLI 83.74) regions.

DNA results for King Ramses III of the 20th Dynasty :

    Quote :
These results indicate that both Ramesses III and Unknown Man E (possibly his son Pentawer)
shared an ancestral component with present day populations of Sub-Saharan Africa.

    Quote :
A previous issue of DNA Tribes Digest identified African related ancestry for King Tut and
other royal mummies from the Amarna Period.
In this issue, results indicate that the later pharaoh
Ramesses III also inherited alleles that are most frequent in present day populations of Sub-Saharan Africa.
This provides additional, independent evidence of Sub-Saharan African ancestry (possibly among
several ancestral components) for pharaonic families of ancient Egypt.

    Quote :
Specifically, both of these ancient individuals inherited the alleles D21S11=35 and CSFIPO=7, which are found throughout Sub-Saharan Africa but are comparatively rare or absent in other regions of the world.

DNA analysis shows Egyptian Pharoah Ramses III (20th Dynasty) had Sub-Saharan African Halogroup E1b1a (now known as E-M2) :

“Genetic kinship analyses revealed identical haplotypes in both mummies (table 1); using the Whit Athey’s haplogroup predictor, we determined the Y chromosomal haplogroup E1b1a.
    – Revisiting the harem conspiracy and death of Ramesses III. British Medical Journal, BMJ2012;345:e8268.

Haplogroup E1b1a (now known as E-M2) is an
African DNA group, most commonly found in sub-Saharan Africa QUOTE:
E-M2 is the most common haplogroup in sub-Saharan Africa, with frequency peaks in western (about 80%) and central Africa (about 60%).”
–Trombetta et al 2011. A New Topology of the Human Y Chromosome Haplogroup E1b1 .

A new study published in March 2013 in the American Journal of Human Genetics, has placed the Bangwa ,
the Mbo and the Yemba people based in southwest and west Regions of Cameroon at the origin of modern humans. This discovery was developed and published by scientists and geneticists of the University of Arizona, USA after the analysis of the DNA of an Africa American who submitted his DNA for tests so as to trace his family roots. They found that the male Y-chromosome found in this individual dates back to 338,000 years.

that Kellman is very quiet nowadays

  36. but we can leave trotty all alone maybe he is going senile

  37. Sargeant…………..one thing we can be sure about is DNA don’t lie, see it’s even proving that life began in Africa and all the Kings, Queens (they forgot to mention that) and pharoahs etc, etc, were of African descent. We do need a DNA registry for more than one reason, but more importantly to help trace our individual roots…………..i don’t expect the AG to understand that………..

It is fairly common knowledge that Queen Elizabeth is of African descent,an
ancestor being an African king of Sweden, himself an ancestor of George 111 of Germany.Physical attributes of Elizabeth,Margaret and Anne seem to bear this out;in any case it is recorded history.
In another study it was found that 20% of present day Brits have African DNA.This fascination with ethnicity is always amusing to me.To be sure there are cultural differences but skin colour was geographically determined eons ago and slavery by the European introduced this false notion of ‘superiority of the white man’ so called. All human bodies function in the same way whether black, brown, yellow, white, gray or whatever colour you want to assign to Homo Erectus. All the same shooting match.Money was the source of the evil of the white man and he was ably assisted by a history of the hebrew people so that these two phenomena have conspired to fool fools to this day.

  40. Ralph Boyce has hit back hard at AG Adriel Brathwaithe after he was referred to as some character.

    http://news.silobreaker.com/how-foolish-5_2266801845613625411

  41. island gal for me it was a nonissue as is understood the context and to how the word was apply . Sir Roy gave a long and worthwhile speech and the only comment that was latched on to and made to seem provocative was that Of “raped” . people who have a vendetta or an axe to grind would in my opinion be quick to drawn to such a comment seeking to draw more blood in their unstripping and bastardisation of Sir Roy fortunately i am not one to join the bandwagon and to fight their cause

  42.
The following areticle maybe used to explore why the use of the word rape should NOT be used casually. The article is written by a teen. And David is NOT female.

The word “rape” is generally used by high school students either negatively, to represent mental or physical injury or damage, (“Wow, that math test totally raped me.”) or positively, to represent beating, winning, or acing something. (“Oh yeah, I just raped that math test.”).
The use of “rape” in such a casual way misrepresents the gravity of sexual assault. Rape is no laughing matter. In the United States, approximately 16 percent of women and three percent of men have been victims of attempted or completed rape. Fifteen percent of sexual assault victims are under 12. Sexual assault victims are three times more likely to suffer from depression and four times more likely to contemplate suicide than non-victims.
    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/01/09/teen-slang-why-the-word-r_n_1194059.html

  43. The issue here is not that Sir Roy is a big bad wolf for making the comment. It is simply that he used an inappropriate choice of word and should acknowledge it.

  44. The act of rape and the word itself is used in too cavalier a manner in Barbados, rape victims are not taken seriously, not even by the police (case in point many male and female minors, male and female adults, as well as tourists). When a male representing the highest union body in the land equates rape with his omission from an overseas conference, and his pending retirement there is grave cause for concern, again either he is teetering on the brink of dementia or the mentalities of local males are evolving to a destructive conclusion.

I have made a decision not to listen to Brasstacks when either Ellis or Wickham is moderating.Hoyos’ is a refreshing approach and Dennis is always a delight. They both pull no punches and keep you on the straight and narow.I do not know if it is realized but Dennis gets into a rage when provoked and that is the difference between Barbadians and Grenadians, culture wise.I spent some time working in Grenada and marvelled at how they shout and tell off each other and slam down the phone to bring a discussion to a premature end,yet miraculously, they see nothing wrong with this reactive behaviour neither do they hold a ‘good ole bajan grudge’ against each other. They will meet and have a drink in the next five minutes after a good shouting match.Thing is Dennis expects a bajan to do the same but not the bajan and his petty hurt feeling. I think it is a degree of maturity on the part of the Grenadian to be like that.

  47. Bajans really know how to hold a grudge, things i have forgotten over the last forty years, cause they are not important and clouds your future judgement, when you pay a visit to Barbados, you can still hear people who were involved talking about them, every day, forty years later………that stops an individual from moving forward, living in the past.

Not surprising that the Pharoahs were of African descent. In case you didn’t know, Egypt is in Africa! Duh!! And with such a large African and Afro-Caribbean presence in the UK, that 20% of Brits now show some African heritage also not really news!
