In situations like this is statement is with a solution and a timeline for executing such is appropriate. However buying off plan is a risky venture entered between the investor and the developer. As on ongoing observer I would love to see a copy of the contract with exit clauses, it’s interesting cause much of the time there is no real recourse.

The last comment vividly demonstrates the result of the lethargy which the Barbados government has shown so far dealing with Harlequin. Just a couple months ago the Nation newspaper ran a PR spread about Harlequin. This was after months of Harlequin’s problems exposed on the blogs. Needless to say the advertising dollars probably did the trick.

Yeah. But esteemed by whom?

I certainly don’t hold him in high estimation.

And I am not even a CLICO investor or policy holder.

We always have to remember that a Prime Minister is not necessarily a better judge of character than John Brown down the street.

In fact PM’s might be poorer judges of character than the average person, since when people approach PM’s that are always looking for something, money, contracts, status, power etc. and such people come well armed with the appropriate lies and deceit.

A PM should be the most cynical person in the world, but I don’t know if this one is.

In the just concluded Estimates BLP Santia Bradshaw referred to a beacon of success in the form of Buccament Hotel in St. Vincent. Her statment may be accurate based on some Internet measurement but entirely insensitive in the context of the current Harlequin debate.

Cyprus is starting to back off the deposits little bit, cause those Russians, those Russians are not squeamish and since they been using the Cyprus washing machine for decades will not take kindly to any loses……..the Cyprus mess will now hit like a Tsunami………they are fearful of touching th Russians money.

This Harlequin matter continues to amzw. Kudos to the media and government in the UK for placing it under the microscope:

he episode of the corporation’s flagship investigation programme, due to air on Monday looked into the activities of Harlequin, a developer of Caribbean luxury homes.

But BBC executives decided to pull it last Thursday after the firm complained, The Times reported, amid accusations that a producer tried to to bribe a security consultant with the company.

The BBC said in a statement last night: ”In light of information received late in the production process of this film, the BBC decided to postpone broadcast.

”We are currently reviewing the facts. As a result a member of the team has been suspended and a disciplinary procedure is under way.”
