In order for the Bajan Blogosphere to flourish, more like-minded Barbadians should come forward and start blogs, we encourage it!

Currently sister blog Barbados Free Press and BU have led the charge by tackling the hard issues. We have not always gotten it right but speaking for BU we have tried to learn from our mistakes with the help of the BU family. If we are to believe Barbados Global Report blog we may be targeted soon by certain politicians who cringe at the idea of a free-wheeling information media.

Given the above we are pleased to welcome a new Bajan blog, The Baruba Post Online. We find this blog interesting because of the writing style of the blogger which is different. We notice that they have shown good judgement by adding Barbados Free Press, Bajan Reporter and BU to their sidebar.

  1. Here is an enjoyable update to The Baruda Post Online

  2. I’m the governor of Alaska can I please have a blog too?

  3. That’s BaruBa, not BaruDa

Inspired by the Bajan blogs? Perhaps.

Bajan Blog? I don’t think so! lol

  4. Re the Bajan Reporter link you give… this blog is about as interesting as Mr. Magoo.

I hope The Baruda will be more like Dick Tracy, then maybe it would warrant checking out at least once every 4 months.

  5. We apologize for getting the spelling wrong, we have corrected.

Again we encourage members of the BU family to go to http://wordpress.com and start a blog, begin to share ideas, experiences etc.

  6. Wuh happen David you closing down for fear of being served a writ by fat girl Mia?

  7. @Adrian H

We have commented several times that until we get feedback from the BU family that we are not making a contribution we will continue to air our opinions and highlight alternative views. If Mia wants to throw resources at suing/shutting the blogs it is her right but no doubt it will come at a price.

We suspect that in the coming months we will have a lot to say about The Mia Affair. However since it has been proved in a court of law that Mia is innocent of the charge of pushing she we ask the BU family to abide with the ruling, and that means especially WIV 🙂

  8. Read the latest article from The Baruba Post Online which fed food for thought:

Police Muzzle Paper Citing “Freedom of Information” October 10, 2008 Too late for insertion our morning print edition The Baruba Post has been served with a temporary binding injection expressly forbidding us to print excerpts from the interviews discussed in the article below. Despite calls to the relevant ministries’ responsible we have been unable to determine why this draconian measure has been slapped on us. Never in our almost 88 years of existence has anything like this happened and rest assured we will not take this muzzling of the free press – or anything else – lying down.

  9. @David…

With respect, the immediately above is pure crap…

FOI would not be cited by any authority as reason for secrecy… Official Secrets Act (OSA), yes. Judicial decision, yes.

But FOI is used to *request* information, not deny it…

I’m sorry, but I call bullshit here!

Chris Halsall – Obviously you can’t spot the difference between real and imagined bullshit.

Don’t you see anything wrong with this sentence…

“The Baruba Post has been served with a temporary binding injection expressly forbidding us to print excerpts from the interviews discussed in the article below…”

  11. @Chris

We got the same comment from commenters when we started BU, we remember well. It is at infancy that support is needed.

I found The Baruba Post difficult to get into at first. I had to read everything twice.

But I’m glad I kept at it. It’s the only blog I know that unashamedly prints only 100% pure bullshit. That somehow seems to make sense.

For readers who haven’t tried it yet the pic in today’s post is alone worth the effort.

P.S. For those who want 0% bullshit we always have the local media. Where my husband works, incidentally, and he was the one who told me to read the Baruba Post.

  13. LOL..

You know, for some reason I’ve never fully understood… In my youth, every time I tried to hang out with the “cool kids” I got the shit kicked out of me…

Something about my sense of humour being surgically removed at birth…

    My apologies if I can’t keep up…

  14. “P.S. For those who want 0% bullshit we always have the local media. Where my husband works.” Is this chick for real ? ? ?

SNAKE – You must have missed the irony lessons at school.

  16. Mia Mottley is a piece of work. During the runup to the election and at her nomination, speaker after speaker, spoke about feminity, what lady or women she is. Mia even had a popolar song remade to market the idea that she is a lady and she royal. Why was it so necessary to sell to the public that she is indeed a woman, a lady, and is royal? 🙂 Your guess is as good as mine.
At any rate i will leave you with this

Quote: “Being powerful is like being a lady. If you have to tell people you are, you aren’t.” — Margaret Thatcher

ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha

  17. The Baruba Post Online goes vocal. We enjoyed that one!

  18. Baruba bans “Racist” Austrians In a sharply-worded letter hand-delivered yesterday to Herr Josef (Joe) Wurzelbacher, Austria’s Consul General in Baruba, Prime Minister and Head of Homeland Security Sir Baldwin J. Scantlebury officially informed the Austrian government he was imposing an immediate ban on all Austrians attempting to visit Baruba and gave Austrians currently in Baruba until midnight on Monday 10 November to pack their belongings and leave the island.
This following extreme racist views expressed and debated on an Austrian TV talkshow shortly after Barack Obama’s election to be the next President of the United States last Tuesday.
Followed by a newspaper online reader poll where 29% of the responders expressed support for statements made on-air by Klaus Emmerich who until he retired was editor in chief of the Austrian broadcaster ORF’s news and current affairs service, is a specialist in American politics and is still the station’s top political commentator for US affairs. Emmerich said, among other things, “I would not like to live in a country headed by a black man. It’s like Austria being governed by a Turk.”
