In less than three weeks Prince Harry will be in Barbados representing the Queen of England –our Head of State for the 50th Anniversary celebrations. The BU household would like to believe that whether monarchist or not a great moment for all Barbadians beckons. Young Prince Harry who has taken his royal duties and responsibilities with vigour and grace has been taken to task by the British media because of his relationship with Meghan Markie, a BLACK woman.

The 7 million budgeted by the government for the 50th Anniversary celebrations will be dollars well spent because the visit by Prince Harry will not be missed by the International press. There is a love affair by the Brits with Little England and we must take advantage of the opportunity to showcase the attractions Barbados has on offer. After all tourism s our business!

Given the grief being given to Prince Harry in his home town why not extend an all expense paid holiday in Barbados, girl friend Meghan Markie included of course.  Even better offer  him the key to the island to facilitate the hosting of his wedding when that time comes around.

    Prince Harry’s newest love interest causing quite the stir in old Blighty, the Brit Press was in knots trying to let the public know that she was gasp ‘Black’ without being too obvious about their reporting, until they couldn’t help themselves anymore and wrote that “she was straight out of Compton”, her mother is visibly black ‘with dreadlocks’ (WTF), her ancestors were maids and tailors while his ruled the Empire etc.

    Poor Harry couldn’t put up with it anymore and Kensington Palace issued a warning to them to cease and desist and they have toned down their reporting.

    They should stop worrying, Harry is fifth in line and dropping, he won’t be Edward V111, the blood line could do with some upgrading.

    The pressure you people are putting on Harry because if this mixed race girl is bound to wreck their relationship.

    It is unlikely to last anyway. Both this girl’s mother and father have separately declared bankruptcy. Her white half sister has given lengthy interviews to the press describing Harry’s new girl as narcissistic and stingy, because she refused to bail out her parents financially, despite making big bucks as a lead actress in a successful TV series that is still running.

    Too much family drama.

    There are many stories that the older generation of bajans can tell living in a barbados for many years with no high level of development which meant having no electricity ,no in door toilets , no washing machines .no cars . no three and four story houses, transportation not even fit for a third world nation, one radio station, schools with limited resources such was the nature of a yesterday barbados where people learn to adjust//// out of those hardship small neighboring communities were formed with a bridge of helping each other having no govt hand outs to rely on , Yes that was a barbados of yesterday that those who choose to celebrate a barbados of today still remember and does not harbor or carry bad feelings but count the many blessing past and present with a realization that barbados has come a long way from the perilous past and is bound and determined to achieved much more that it has already achieved in the future coming from the ashes and rising to higher and better levels

    You are the one who needs to take your head out of the nether region. Barbados is in the business, of tourism and therefore to leverage opportunities to pay the bills is what we have to do. When you subsidize AA and the other airlines to fly to Barbados what do you think you are doing? Is that a different form of mendicancy?

    NUPW Rosalyn Smith orders Customs and Immigration on go slow because McDowall isn’t in acting post. Her argument is absurd . McDowall returned to his substantive post a routine that occurs daily in the public and private sectors. Obviously the reason for her anger is as President of the NUPW she reckons he’s entitled to ignore General Orders and the law.

    McDowall’s employer the government must stand up to him and the NUPW blackmailers. Failure to do so will see more petty industrial action. The silent majority will support GOB because the NUPW demands favoritism and are bullying the society to get their way. The many strikes cost taxpayers millions in revenues, drives up the cost of living and makes workers poorer. The NUPW doesn’t care, its their way or no way.

    Customs on go slow is like saying the airport is an international airport. Customs go slows began in my school days over thirty years ago. We expect disloyal, don’t care behavior from Customs. The Commissioner of Police is adamant the surge of guns in the hands of wild youth results from a porous borders manned by Customs. Surprise surprise.

    Customs and Immigration cost the treasury millions in the Myrie payout an avoidable situation were cameras in place. Customs for years refuse to install cameras to protect the travelling public even themselves from prosecution . Customs reputation is horrible yet they don’t seem to care.

    Prince Harry will be next to feel the NUPW ordered Customs go slow. Tourists face this loathsome behaviour whenever they arrive. The fact they keep coming to Barbados with the sorry immigration and customs attittitude and permanent go slow is a miracle.

    When Customs was being bullied into joining the BRA and people who were acting in posts for over at times five years had to revert to their substantive posts, where was this call for all union heads to meet and come up with a strategy to do something about it. Oh I forgot, then Akanni was the DLP and Walter Maloney blue eyed boy waiting to become PRESIDENT of the NUPW!!!

    We’ll bet if there was a chance of him being king an accident would happen.

    There was a man who it seems got into the good graces and is seen as the rightful father.

    Don’t know what we are jumping and waving about – reading the article about the trumpeted love affair only suggests based on the interview with the fairy tale Prince that they have only been seeing each other ‘for a few months’.
    and you blogmaster seems to be living in the Victorian age- pray tell me how a visit of a member of the discredited royal family in this day and age can impact positively on our tourism product.

    Ms. Smith has not ordered a go slow. The workers have decided on the go slow.

    Ms. Smith’s argument is not absurd.

    We the silent majority do not support the Government of Barbados. We know that McDowall would not have been sent back to his substantive post if he was still in the good books of the DEMS. Who do you think that you are fooling? Do you think that we are stupid Trump voters?

    Ms Rosalind Smith cannot order any government department to go ‘on go slow or go fast’- As General Secretary she is a paid employee of the Union and can only issue instructions for union members to engage in industrial action on the advice of the council of the Union. The council of the Union outside of Annual conference is the highest making decision body of the union. It consists of members across the political divide.

    The unions and the political parties where, from the beginnings, like twins.

    They have the same political evolution

    Where founded in the same epoch, similar circumstances

    They have all been allied with party to win government

    There is a revolving door between the leadership cadres of unions and political parties

    They are players in the social partner

    This is the kind of inbreeding you have in small countries

    More importantly, the international circumstances for both unions and political parties have changed to the point where former ideals cannot be recovered.

    Roslyn Smith, McDowall and the NUPW pests targeting of tourism is wanton disregard for the struggling economy . The one leg of the economy functioning and paying the bills is the tourist industry. If that sector falters government cannot look after the poor and vulnerable. High flyer McDowall and large numbers of NUPW members will be jobless. For what? We wait for answers from Simple and Skeet.

    The bullshoite pushed by NUPW is not about principles in industrial relations. Their tactic is based on spite against the government most likely endorsed by the opposition. It centers on abuse of unionism. Only BU yard fowls miss the point.

    Sir Frank Walcott and trade union pioneers MacDonald Blunt et al turn in their graves at the selfish egos that pass for leadership. Mary Redman, Pedro Shepherd , McDowall and their lackeys disgrace the noble philosophy of trade unions. True sons and daughters cry for the beloved land on the fiftieth .

    Agree Musing such actions are not in agreement with
    ILO. These actions are vindictive with an attempt to weaken govt resolve. However the govt can take some of the blame as in the past seven years govt has seen and witness the threats of union and by now should have a plan of action to confront such devilish behaviour by the unions
