Edward Snowden
Edward Snowden

Edward Snowden is reportedly hours away from landing in Cuba as a first step to political asylum in a South American country, most probably the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela. Snowden may well qualify as the person in the history of mankind that has given more people, more places, more information about a globalized national security state which few people knew about and less were willing to consider as fact for the fear of being called ‘a conspiracy theorist’.

His immoral and illegal sequestration in Sheremetyevo International Airport by the military junta in Washington has presented the true nature of world powers. How many people in the Caribbean have the conscience to give up job, home, family and friends to reveal the true character of a government that pretends it is democratic while conducting itself both in the light and the darkness in ways not unlike ‘Lucifer’ himself?

It was this wicked government, with its total information suite of programs that is virtually in your house right now. They have illegally stored hundreds of thousands of zettabytes of private information about the people of the earth. Every key you have ever touched on a keyboard, every email ever sent, every text, every phone call, every piece of snail mail, every fax, every satellite communication, we must now assumed is in the possession of Big Brother. George Orwell could not, in his wildness dreams, have contemplated such a monster of a Big Brother society.

But it is not just the noise of countless chatter in the information space. Big Brother has seemingly respectable companies like Bose Allen Hamilton (BAH) providing the technological infrastructure to collect and store this information. It is BAH, as consultant to global corporations, which will then use this information obtained from its workings with the National Security Agency (NSA) to interfere in the market place in competitive countries like Brazil, China and Russia to reduce their relative position in favour of corporations that are part of Empire. These are the same people who tell the ruling class in the Caribbean that we should be more competitive and play by some set of, ostensibly, fair rule when they are the ones who break every law known to man.

Recent events surrounding the violations of the rights of the President of Bolivia demonstrated the anxiety of the national security state apparatus to silence Snowden. We will not be surprised if he turns up dead, like Michael Hastings, for this must be one of the scenarios being planned at facilities in Langley, Virginia. We have seen huge projects to capture Julian Assange. We have seen the treatment meted out of Bradley Manning. We have seen the sweet smiling Barack Obama prosecuting more whistleblowers that ALL other United States presidents combined. What manner of man is this? Sweet words to the public but in private he is as vicious as they come.

Snowden could have made tens of millions of dollars by secretly selling this information to other security agencies, but he did not. We could only imagine the heavy mental burdens a young man like this has to carry. One man against the most formidable security apparatus the world has ever seen – a security architecture well known to him and which can violate any and all laws known to man. The Caribbean has seen this demonstrated before. One incident happened less than twenty years ago when a Barbadian attorney (Ralph Thorne) won a case against the extradition of a ‘Colombian’ man wanted by the USA. After leaving Barbados and during a transit stop in a third country, United States agents, in violation of the ruling of the Barbados courts, kidnapped this individual and transferred him to US territory.

At the time of writing we were unable to confirm that Edward Snowden was on the Aeroflot flight to Cuba. We wish him well. We applaud the courage of Venezuela, Bolivia, Ecuador, Cuba and Russia for agreeing to shelter him. We denounce the cowardice of the European countries which initially came out pretended that they were so appalled by the actions of the United States just to misguide their populations that their hands were clean and that this was solely an American project. Later it was Snowden and Guardian journalist/attorney Glen Greenwald who provided conclusive evidence (proof) that the Europeans are merely colonial outposts of the American Empire which were more interested in the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) trade deal than the basis rights of their citizens. The TPP is a new-fangled trade pact between global corporations that will make any residual notions of national sovereignty ‘quainter’.

  1. The challenge many who are sympathetic to Snowden is where does one draw the line as a sovereign.

  2. If you practice something for long enough, with enough zeal, dedication and commitment, pretty soon whatever you are putting your effort into be it road tennis, playing a violin, selling drugs, selling weapons of mass destruction to other nations, becomes the only thing you know how to do and justice and the american way becomes a shade of grey and nothing separates you from the thing that you set out to protect, at first.

It is the natural course of things that because of what they have become, purveyors of flesh, that they have no qualms to kill any leader of any nation anywhere across this globe and certainly dont show any pause in killing any of their prophets, their Kennedys, our Martin Luther Kings and Malcolm X’s because these men go against their might whore Babylon the Great.

If Obama goes against the grain, they will kill him too.

Long Live the mighty United States of America, the greatest nation on earth.

  4. New Edward Snowden Documents Reveal NSA Access to Microsoft Outlook, Skype: Report
    By Lee Ferran@leeferranFollow on Twitter
    Jul 11, 2013 4:19pm
New top secret documents provided by Edward Snowden allege Microsoft worked with the National Security Agency to get around the tech giant’s own encryption systems and Skype helped the agency collect video calls, according to a report from The Guardian.
The documents, which were not posted online, allegedly show that Microsoft collaborated with the NSA months before the launch of their Outlook.com portal to make sure the NSA would be able to intercept and read web chats. The company also reportedly helped give the NSA easier access to its cloud storage device called SkyDrive.
For its part, Skype, which was purchased by Microsoft in 2011, worked last year to allow the NSA’s PRISM program to collect video and audio conversations, The Guardian reported.
When The Guardian and The Washington Post revealed the PRISM program’s existence in June, Microsoft was among a host of major technology companies that denied they provided the NSA with blanket access to their customers’ communications.
READ: The NSA’s Rules for Accidentally Spying on You
In response to the new report, Microsoft again emphasized that the company “only ever compl[ies] with orders about specific accounts or identifiers, and we would not respond to the kind of blanket orders discussed in the press over the past few weeks…”
“To be clear, Microsoft does not provide any government with blanket access to SkyDrive, Outlook.com, Skype or any Microsoft product,” the company said in a statement to ABC News. “We have clear principles which guide the response across our entire company to government demands for customer information for both law enforcement and national security issues.  First, we take our commitments to our customers and to compliance with applicable law very seriously, so we provide customer data only in response to legal processes.”
FULL REPORT: How Microsoft Handed the NSA Access to Encrypted Messages (The Guardian)
Snowden, a 30-year-old former contractor with the NSA, is believed to be stranded in the transit area of a Moscow airport. While in Hong Kong in mid-June, Snowden revealed himself as the source of a series of reports in The Guardian and other international outlets about the NSA’s vast foreign and domestic surveillance programs. Snowden fled Hong Kong for Moscow in late June for Moscow and has applied for political asylum in nearly two dozen countries. He has been charged in the U.S. with espionage.
ABC News’ Joanna Stern contributed to this report.

  8. Edward Snowden could escape if he knew how to live the simple anonymous life. But unfortunately for him he does not. He is a wired 21st century American and well used to his communication devices and he genuinely does not know how to live without them. Now if he knew how to become a simple 1950’s style peasant former he could become invisible.

So the same communications devices which brought his infamy, will also be his downfall.

  11. A previous NSA Whistleblower (i,e. not Snowden) claimed back
in 2005 that back then the NSA routinely spied/eavesdropped on top US government officials and military officers. In one case this whistleblower alleged they even spied on a US politician running for office as a senator who went on to eventually become President of the USA: “One of the papers that I held in my hand was to wiretap a bunch of numbers associated with, with a 40-something-year-old wannabe senator from Illinois. You wouldn’t happen to know where that guy lives right now, would you? It’s a big white house in Washington, DC. That’s who they went after. And that’s the president of the United States now.

Whistleblower Says Spy Agency Targeting Top American Leaders

NSA whistleblower Russel Tice – a key source in the 2005 New York Times report that blew the lid off the Bush administration’s use of warrantless wiretapping – told Peter B. Collins on Boiling Frogs Post (the website of FBI whistleblower Sibel Edmonds):

Tice: Okay. They went after–and I know this because I had my hands literally on the paperwork for these sort of things–they went after high-ranking military officers; they went after members of Congress, both Senate and the House, especially on the intelligence committees and on the armed services committees and some of the–and judicial. But they went after other ones, too. They went after lawyers and law firms. All kinds of–heaps of lawyers and law firms. They went after judges. One of the judges is now sitting on the Supreme Court that I had his wiretap information in my hand. Two are former FISA court judges. They went after State Department officials. They went after people in the executive service that were part of the White House–their own people. They went after antiwar groups. They went after U.S. international–U.S. companies that that do international business, you know, business around the world. They went after U.S. banking firms and financial firms that do international business. They went after NGOs that–like the Red Cross, people like that that go overseas and do humanitarian work. They went after a few antiwar civil rights groups. So, you know, don’t tell me that there’s no abuse, because I’ve had this stuff in my hand and looked at it. And in some cases, I literally was involved in the technology that was going after this stuff. And you know, when I said to [former MSNBC show host Keith] Olbermann, I said, my particular thing is high tech and you know, what’s going on is the other thing, which is the dragnet. The dragnet is what Mark Klein is talking about, the terrestrial dragnet. Well my specialty is outer space. I deal with satellites, and everything that goes in and out of space. I did my spying via space. So that’s how I found out about this.

Collins: Now Russ, the targeting of the people that you just mentioned, top military leaders, members of Congress, intelligence community leaders and the–oh, I’m sorry, it was intelligence committees, let me correct that–not intelligence community, and then executive branch appointees. This creates the basis, and the potential for massive blackmail.

Tice: Absolutely! And remember we talked about that before, that I was worried that the intelligence community now has sway over what is going on. Now here’s the big one. I haven’t given you any names. This was is summer of 2004. One of the papers that I held in my hand was to wiretap a bunch of numbers associated with, with a 40-something-year-old wannabe senator from Illinois. 13. After leaking details of information gathering by the USA on its citizens Snowden fled to countries – China (don’t tell me about Hong Kong nothing happens in HK without Chinese approval) and Russia where that fact is inescapable.

For the past few days the world was told he was in a “transit lounge” at an Airport in Russia- yeah right- like the old KGB Colonel ( Putin) will let such a treasure trove of information escape from under his nose.

There is much speculation that Snowden and his laptops are being held under the watchful eye of the KGB in a Dacha somewhere outside Moscow where he is being fed copious amounts of Truth Serum (SP 117 according to the Soviets) and he may be leaking more than even he intended.

There is a novel later made into a movie called ‘The Falcon and the Snowman” which was about two Americans who sold secrets to the Soviets, his story could be a sequel I have a tentative title “The Snowden (man) in exile”

He can run but he can’t hide.

It doesn’t seem to have been picked up by the media, but Edward Snowden has at least one other flight option. SU 152 SVO to Punta Cana (DR) and then a direct flight from Punta Cana to Caracas (GOL). Unlike SU150 to Havana which is routed over US airspace, SU152 overflies Finland, Sweden, Norway, Baltic States, south of Iceland then over Labrador (Canada) and stays off shore USA to the DR. An extradition Treaty has existed between the USA and DR since 1910 but under Article 2, the alleged crime of treason, doesn’t seem to be covered.

  16. @Adrian “SU 152 SVO to Punta Cana (DR) and then a direct flight from Punta Cana to Caracas (GOL). Unlike SU150 to Havana which is routed over US airspace, SU152 overflies Finland, Sweden, Norway, Baltic States, south of Iceland then over Labrador (Canada)”

Canada is the U.S’s very best ally. The U.S. could ask the Canadian Airforce to reroute SU150 to a Canadian airport. Would Canada do this? Yes they would. Harper is no Pierre Trudeau.

I think that pretty much Snowden’s ass is grass, unless he is happy becoming a Russian peasant without any communications devices.

Actually the life of a peasant ain’t that bad., All the people who live to be 100+ plus in vigorous good health are small time peasant farmers. take note that our own Mr. Sisnett lived t be a 113+, whereas the big time plantocrats who practically owned Sisnett (and literally owned his great grandparents) were all dead before they reached three score and ten.

But peasant farmer ain’t a popular trade among 21st century upper middle class white American men. I don’t know why. Maybe they like to die early of heart disease, stroke etc.

    Simple Simon,
YES! I expect you are right. I am not sure about international law and intercepting a civilian aircraft. I suppose if they can deny the Bolivian President’s Falcon 900EX overfly rights, they can do it with Aeroflot. Of course they could re-route the plane further out to sea.

  18. Whistleblowers have to be strong about what they want to do because when they see Julian Assange and now Snowden like rats in a whole it does not serve to inspire.

  19. @ David
You have to be much more courageous. You seem to want to enter the heaven of information whistleblowers provide but you don’t want to die. Snowden has done more to bring about transformation in the world than most. We talk all the times about the social weapons the people of the earth must use against the establishment, enter Snowden! You know the late Eric Sealy once said that his defense force was within the Barbados Defense Force. This may not be a position we should seek to avoid if we are really interested about real ‘change’. This system has to fought and defeated otherwise in a few years we will wake up one morning and realize we live in a world not of our making.

There we other instances where the USA sought to circumvent the Caribbean legal system. Remember, the people though to be connected to the September 11 events?

  20. @Pacha

It is what it is there you should not personalise. The fact remains that as you have also pointed out, it takes balls to be a whistleblower especially when up against the Empire.

  21. @ David
We think it is wrong to try to atomize this issue. Large crimes are being committed here. When did we get more interested in pursuing traffic violators while letting war criminals go free. Is this the kind of world you want?

  22. @Pacha

Which ever way you twist it the reality remains, a whistleblower against the Empire will be in for a rough ride.

  23. @ David
Mind you, we have carefully read all the critiques of Snowden. They are all unpersuasive. These include, he did not have an education, he is a traitor, he is self indulgent, he sought self importance, he is young and misguided. Some even questioned his mental health. In our view all of these claims are ‘reaching’ or counter-intelligence projects by his former employers.

  24. @ David
Yes, the states are high, that is why he is desiring of our support. When more people start to come out with more disclosures Empire has to back down. For this can only happen in secret. Show courage.

  25. Great game is a power game, white ops called black ops
Legalities / Illegalities arguments about spying on citizens are based / founded on legality / illegality of waging various Wars. False justifications for the latter wars led to the former breaches of rights, still influencing all current world / business issues

  26. @ David
Remember that after 9/11 these people have built an ‘intelligence” infrastructure that now employs 3-5 million people. They can’t hunt thousands of people who come out and reveal more secrets. So we are to help Snowden to encourage more disclosures by others.

  27. @BAFBFP

  29. The behaviours of major corporations that are helping to build the new Stasi state apparatus have a lot in common with other similar projects from history. Remember it was IBM which provided the Nazi with the computer hardware/software to track and record its crimes against European Jewry. The Jews themselves constructed and managed the the Stasi state apparatus. Today corporate Jewry are intricately linked or own most of the technology firms that are committing crimes against us all – Facebook etc. What a coincidence? Always seems that the system can find a set of people with no wide cultural connection to society or which has a narrow cultural frame to unfeelingly behave in devilish ways against most of us.

  31. SNOWDEN MOST LIKELY TO TAKE A PRIVATE JET BUT IT WON’T COME EASY…

In order for Snowden to get from Moscow to the Venezuelan capital of Caracas without facing threat of U.S. extradition he would need to take an indirect, 7,000 mile route to avoid U.S. airspace.

Cuba is the only country in which Snowden could land safely in a commercial plane without facing extradition but would have to pass through U.S. airspace or that of a U.S. ally whereby it could be forced to land prematurely.

A private jet is considered the best bet for Snowden but it is likely to cost in the region of $200,000 to charter and would need to be of a certain size in order to reach Caracas the long way round without refuelling.

So far, Venezuela has yet to offer to cover the cost of Snowden’s journey, meaning he will have to rely on either a private donor or Wikileaks to stump up the money.

A Gulfstream V jet would be up to the job but it then becomes a question of how many are available in Russia and who would be prepared to face the wrath of America by loaning one to its most wanted man.

  33. Ban Ki Moon has always been and remains an agent of the United States foreign policy, as are all the UN systems. Diplomats are spied on, this violates international law and conventions. The aircraft of a ‘sovereign’ head of state is restricted from free access to airspace, another gross violation of law/convention and on and on. The UN is used over and over again to wage aggressive wars on ‘sovereign’ states and business proceeds as usual. The USA and her chief lapdog (UK) denies the freedom of movement of persons holding political asylum, as entrenched in international law. In none of the crimes by the the United States and her friends the attentions of the UN can never be attracted. Moon, your bloomers are showing!

  34. Microsoft’s “Smart Cities” Ideal Template for Stasi Police State

So-called “smart cities,” as designed by corporations like IMB and Cisco, will utilize the “Internet of Things,” or IoT, a system of objects networked with RFID, the end result being “a world where every object — from jumbo jets to sewing needles — is linked to the Internet,” as Helen Duce, the RFID Technology Auto-ID European Center at the University of Cambridge, envisions it.

    SNIP

The “multi-device ecosystem” proselytized by Microsoft and documented intelligence asset Google provides an ideal foundation for the sort of all-encompassing and artificially intelligent surveillance envisioned by the global elite. Smart cities, smart meters, smart growth — such catchy phrases pushed by sharp ad campaigns are instrumental to the lingua franca of control.

Increasingly, if we continue to use technology, millions will be pushed into the “cloud,” a “shared service” and “converged infrastructure” where we no longer control or even own our own data, but it is housed on a centralized computer behind a wall emblazoned with terms of service and contractual stipulations.

This scheme is ideal for control freaks who obsessively collect data for the sake of formulating social profiles and building mountainous electronic dossiers, primarily for the art of ferreting out potential threats to the establishment and the corporatist-fascist status quo. Nazi Germany’s Gestapo and East German’s Stasi were also obsessed with this sort of detail-driven data collection, but could at best only imagine the technological advances utilized by the modern authoritarian state.

Says, in so many words, (i.e. my paraphrase of his statement) he isn’t sure why spying on so many prominent citizens was put in place, but says its logical to think it could have been to get information that could be used for blackmail purposes should it be necessary to keep them in line.

I’m curious, “Dr” Porgie. If a patient presents with what you suspect to be a subdural haematoma, what would be your suggestion in the first instance? You can’t know without a scan what’s happening in the arachnoid mater. So do you order a scan? What if the patient is raving, uncontrollable? What if you know that the psychopharmacology might harm the meninges?

What do you do, “Dr” Porgie? You pray to your god?

  40. smile you are being spied on 🙂
US has a couple of options as well as spying on internet,
    * control internet
    * shut down internet
wishing them ill, identifies you as their enemy

And Dr. Porgie, since you relentlessly present as someone who has a degree in medicine from an accredited institution, it might be helpful if you told the “BU Fambly” what institution that is. To reveal that is not to reveal who you are (you are, obviously, an idiot from whom I wouldn’t advise my worst enemy to take medical care), but doubtless all the sick people, and especially the terminal, are REALLY interested in your god. Don’t you find that to be true, “Dr” Porgie?

  42. GP………..remember demographics, if the USA falls, it will fall on you, you live there, so you better start packing.

    WELL WELL
I THINK ABOUT IT A LOT, AND AM PLANNING TO LEAVE

  44. GP…………It has been a long time coming, decades actually………..the spying was already in place from the J. Edgar Hoover era, it just intensified under Bush et al, not a place to hang out.

  45. “AND SO WILL THE MIGHTY USA!…”And what difference would it make if you are not around to see it happen. Sorry, but knowing that it will fall is not enough

We can guarantee you that we don’t have long to wait. These people are not nearly as dominate as they use to be, in real terms. That is why they need to peep so much. They are merely grasping at straws, like a drowning man. We don’t know whether you have recently seen the inner cities of the USA – that are crumbling, all of them. Or the bridges which are falling down everywhere. Or the 150MM people who live at or below the poverty line. Or the 50MM people who need food stamps to survive. Every (real) social-economic indicator you look at points to perdition. Some say this Empire has already collapsed, it just needs a hard kiss it its ass to send it to the fate of the British Empire. And that will soon be delivered. We guarantee that.

“While this was happening under US orders, Israeli people were forced to give up their properties in the Gaza Strip. In other words, these people were disposesed!
Katrina went out into the Gulf, and made a U turn.”

“The rest is history, as the next Thursday, a larger portion of US citizenry was disposessed.”

Sounds like the work of vengeance by a most vindictive Old Testament god called Yahweh.
‘A tooth for ten dentitions and forty eyes for an eye sort of fell who favours one set of people called the Jews over the others even those living in ghettoes in New Orleans.

Which racial group (who happen to fervently believe in the same god more than their Jewish land grabbing invaders) do you think suffered the most from Katrina as a result of the vindictive character of a fickle desert god of the wilderness of burning bush you just described?

So Katrina was used by your Jehovah god (the Jewish Zeus or Jupiter) as a weapon of mass destruction?

Is that what the old Jewish xenophobic jingoist scribes of old meant when they wrote the following from the book of ethnic cleansing by the Mladić of his day?
    “God commanding Moses to kill:
“They fought against Midian, as the LORD commanded Moses, and killed every man……..Now kill all the boys [innocent kids]. And kill every woman who has slept with a man, but save for yourselves every girl who has never slept with a man.” – (Numbers 31:7, 17-18)
“Kill everything that “breathes” from humans and animals! “- Deuteronomy 20:16
