Wait how information selective can CBC get?  At first, censorship was so petty, as to voice TOO MUCH RED in their Crop Over festivities band. Give us a break Mr Chairman, red is one of the motive colours of  the CBC logo. How much more petty can you get ? You should let common sense prevail,.. colours do not induce votes, at least, not by themselves.

What about the televised coverage given to the ruling party, with limited, almost none existing, to the opposition? Couple weeks ago, we had to Minister of Health daily romps ‘splashed all over’ the air, every night on the CBC TV 7.00 PM news.  Now, I believe even he has gotten tired as the reason for his diminished presence. It’s called over kill.

Perception sometimes back fires unexpectedly and can expose reality for what it really is. Take for example last night’s news cast Monday 13th. The DLP had two clips one of the Honourable Prime Minister Mr Freundel Stuart, and another of Hon. Minister Sealy in St. James North. One caller on Brass Tacks was quick to point, that the coverage given of the two ruling party’s members included coverage of the audience, close-ups and all. Whereas the coverage of the opposition’s meeting at Prior Park corner was limited to head shots of the two speakers Hon. Owen Arthur and Hon. Sen. Kerri Symnonds …no shots of the massive crowd in attendance. Anyone watching could not help but wonder, why the attendance at the DLP was so small. I made the number 12,… maybe 15 persons at most. Had CBC not been that selective, the obvious to the viewer would not have been bought to the fore. A classic case of PERCEPTION back fired…posing a question, leaving the rest to be imagined.

Leaving all to perceptions work well when prevailing conditions are to one’s positive advantage and not the reverse.. when your image is lacking. Why if it is known that one is mistake prone, why would one leave to perception…the better of two outcomes? If one knew for instance, that the butler was a recreational drinker, why tempt him, leaving the keys to the liquor cabinet, while you were away on vacation? It is more likely than not, that he will take a nip at sometime of the Johnny Walker Black as the opportunity  presents.

We must therefore be most careful, when playing the perception card, as one can only conceptualize images of what comes first to hand, (as expected) and not second as to what we would like to be believed. It would be folly to think otherwise…but there again..it is about sense (cents lol) too as well as thinking.

    Usually when there is a political meeting Bees or Dees next day you hear people talking about it what bombshell was dropped who sleeping with who who gender uncertain so on. Not so the Prior Park meeting its as if it never took place even the Nation which backs the BLP carried little except the image of a wife beater..
    Old bags you cant blame CBC if the BLP said nothing worth reporting.

Wasted my taxi fare too….from what I was able to deduce during ill-spent sojourn in Wildey was the remnants of neanderthal recluse fighting narcissism ….trying to come to terms wid 2012……Wait was I missed that much?     What you may find out is that BU is very unforgiving after awhile. Many have come with their ingenious nonsense only to find people place them on ignore.

    What we know is the CBC is a football for both political parties. It was not too long ago under another party when we were complaining about Mia’s crew:

    Allyson Leacock, TC, the Armstrong girl et al.

    Some of us are tired now of the politics practiced by both parties which was reflected in the Cadres poll and which will be reinforced in the voter turnout at the next election.

    Obviously the downgrade came….affa Belize was unable to meet its financial debt obligation and defaulted….Panic-Don’t we feel glad to have avoided any such situation…what is this we getting about IMF association…and positioning of a Barbadian doa?

    That bunch called the Eager Eleven or even the Fickle Five ought to be really ashamed of themselves. Just a motley lot of spineless, selfish and shameless individuals (ya like the alliteration?) who don’t even have the basic decency to stand up and run against Freundel for leadership of the party.
    They have the disloyal guts to petition the man behind his back and write leaked letters to the Press expressing major concerns about his leadership style and performance but don’t have the testicular fortitude to use a legitimate and accepted medium to oppose the fumbling joker.

    We just can’t wait to hear the amount of post mortem blame these same cowards will be heaping on the fumbler when elections are called and lost. Cammie’s favourite day of the Christian calendar was St. Andrew’s Day so much expressed in our national symbols. One wonders if FS would honour the memory of his mentor and confidant and see a date close to the double ides of the blood sport month of November from reading the tea leaves ‘soaked’ by the Kingmaker.

    This is not the first Convention where there was discord. Around the time when Bradford had his hands filled with the St.Joseph Horse-pittal…and wanted to be prime minister… and greaves would have none of it, remember?….a jaundiced atmosphere if there be any…Like it will be the same again..hope the Eager don’t find renewed valor and pull any surprises on the skipper….no not at this 12th hr.     Hold on OOB what bigger discord there was than Mottley quarrelling with Arthur over one man one vote then withdrawing in a huff puff. What of Ralwe Eastmonds diabolical talk his accusation of ballot box stuffing in BLP camp.
    How about senior cabinet Mininster Rommell Marshall calling Owen a groundsman followed by Owen begging like a street vagrant for Rommell and Mia to stop dragging down the party.
    Owen’s infamous rant on the unsuitability of Mia’s lifestyle. Are we to believe the bassa bassa is over Arthur, Mottley kissed made up. Rommell disappear Rawle Eastmond gone to Jenkins. No sensible people buy into the fraudulent solidarity foisted on the country by the BLP cynically for the purpose of winning an election. Veteran BLPites attacking one another pit bull fashion Lammie Craig, the Griffiths, george, Clyde. Payne did not speak to Arthur for years. BLP insider run smear campaign on the Hinckson boy.
    Co leader Mascoll is Malik with teeth says Billie. Owen’s claim of Mia fiddling with BLP monies. Mascoll dont want Cynthia seat no more. a BLP candidate with insurance connection arrested for major crime.
    A man who beat his wife turn into a big able BLP spokesman. The 1000 pounds of blubber slim down. Hammie la switching parties fed up with nasty BLP politics. OOB you know not what you speaketh when you open your big mouth about discord.

    Behave yourself my good man…behave.Man is a creature of conflict by nature.It was Eve who on disobeying brought on this fate to mankind…..The challenge is to overcome…..and do so expeditiously and with all duly damage control one could muster.Sadly DLP ship has not been able to accomplish this within 6 months past …every since the Eager Rising… Clint Eastwood’s barbaric political debauchery has done nothing but inflame and further divide…Mathew 7: 5…”Thou hypocrite, cast out first the beam in thy own eye, and then shalt thou see to see clearly to cast out the mote of thy brother’s eye”….. that you must. DLP’s troubles are but a Work in Progress (WIP), they have festered to a point of no return…..proof of the pudding is your PR fiasco and BLUNDERAMA mania….What of the hands off policy towards Mona Lisa ?     Is this because she is the possible administrator of her husband’s estate of which the Family First Account” (aka Clico policyholders’ money) is a major part? Any signs of conflict or shameful revelations in the ex-First Family business dealings could indicate DLP insiders’ attempts to force the queen to abdicate and seek refuge in her place of birth the Helen of the Caribbean making a safe throne available for a shaky member of the sinckler clan or even a more uncertain embattled stuart of the Kingmaker progeny. This could result in a freezing of the liquid assets tied up in the DLP family heirloom account leading to a major shortfall in traditional charitable donations to fund the operations and maintenance of the Party’s HQ and its electoral PR machinery and its votes buying strategies. Don’t expect the Norse prince jada to fill the breach unless a quid pro quo of more Lilliputian housing projects or a new avenue of bribery activity in road construction and highway renovations are put on the table to seal the deal.

    You know very well that a fair sum remaining from the 2007/2008 CLICO contributions to fund that massive campaign is tied in that family feud account (Mona Lisa Family& Friends versus DLP hand-to-mouth generals; except the Don who made his money in pornville). Mona the lady with the mystic look knows there is no political or socially prominent future for her or her girls since the CLICO exposure. Hence there is no future leadership role in the DLP. Why plough ground for monkey to run over. It’s like putting manure to ripe canes or in your piscatorial rural memories using a conga to catch a sprat or even a crab with mud or a wood dove with hard scratch grain when the rain falls with so many worms in the ground.

    The Nation newspaper sell out to the BLP is blatantly shameless – everyone realises that the Nation is now thinking BLP first and Barbados second.
    Wendell Callender writes a column about visits to Karaoke bars and shops in in Barbados and so far this year, he has used this column to promote BLP candidates- Wilfred Abrahams and even most recently perennial reject Peter Phillips in St. Lucy. But the most shameful was when he used this column to promote his wife and her role in fun day in the constituency in which she is running as a BLP candidate.
    It is obvious that the Nation newspaper is using their columnists as the political hit men to sway public opinion. How can any fair minded person condemn CBC bias but ignore the Nation newspaper sellout to Owen Arthur.
    We now see why Harold Hoyte was publicly “cursed” as a “Negrocrat” because he could not be bought and refused to sing in anyone’s choir.
    Sadly, the current leaders at the Nation newspaper are a disgrace to the standards of journalism.

    The Head of the CZMU has been sent on special leave after being accused of forming a company and sending hundreds of thousands of dollars in government contracts to that company between 2004 -2007. Will the Nation newspaper make that a front page story and specify the years and the Minister under which these felicities have occurred?
    The Nation newspaper editors refuse to print anything that puts Owen Arthur in a negative light. Their policy is that between now and election day, there should be no stories which remind the public of the financial irregularities and wastage of taxpayer money in the last administration.
    You will see Barbados win 20 gold medals at the Olympic Games before you see the current editors and columnists at the Nation newspaper print anything negative about ther BLP.
    For them , it is party first and country second.

    I aint one of those Bajans with a short memory. I remember when the DLP when in opposition was complaining about not getting coverage on CBC as well. Do fuh do.

    Just heard, en passant, Minster John Boyce saying that the deficit at the Transport Board is running at tens of millions of dollars with some of the day-to-day cash flow requirements funded by loans from the NIS.

    Do you know how much the TB has borrowed from the NIS and what arrangements are in place to repay these large loans?

    The TB has not been a profit making enterprise for many years under both administrations. To borrow from Moneybrain it is only when there is low tide one is able to recognise the nakedness of the swimmer. He chickens are coming home to roost.

    To borrow from the NIS to loan the TB is not rational. Do you remember like the BWA the last government had the opportunity to rational?

    Deja vu, my friend, is the luxury of the retired.
    What do we do about that agency that is suffering a chronic terminal case of financial tuberculosis (TB)? Do like the Minister and promise the impossible: We will NOT be laying off staff! Keep them on the payroll to do what? To watch the buses in the yard because there is no money to run them on the road? We can’t pay for the fuel, parts, nor insurance.

    THE NIS FUNDS MUST NOT BE USED TO SUBSIDIZE THE TRANSPORT BOARD.

    Why NOT bite the bullet and call elections to get a fresh mandate from the people and privatize some of these State agencies starting with the TB and CBC.

    We find ourselves in a real mess don’t we? We forgot about preparing for the winter.

    The high level of entitlements we have come to expect in Barbados means that if our tax base narrows it immediately has a multiplier affect.

    The article posted by Green Money earlier is instructive, countries which attract DEBT:GDP greater than 90% default.

    It saddens the BU household the extent WE are unwilling to change personal attitudes to safeguard OUR country.

    Very good contribution today on Brasstacks. Well thought out and argued. Hoyos just had to listen and be a genuine yes man.
    It’s time the politicians justify their overseas jaunts by showing at least some measurable and quantifiable returns. We can no longer afford these conferences and seminars which burn up scarce foreign exchange. Let the embassy officials attached to the country where the conference is being held attend the talk shop and report back to the relevant Ministry. In case where the conference is of a technical nature then the appropriate Ministry can send the qualified officer to attend. There is no need for all of the ministerial high flying and living.
