  6. @ Sargeant,

Doug Ford channeling Donald Trump. lol

Looks like Ontario / Toronto politics is going to become entertaining.

  7. @Hants
Ford looks and acts the bully, he is out for revenge as he was seen as a blowhard who walked in his brother’s shadow when he was a Councillor by the other council members and now he can show them who is boss, plus Tory defeated him as Mayor so he wants to rub it in his face. He is faced with so many law suits that “notwithstanding” will become a regular occurrence.

Here are his thoughts about the judge “ I was elected, he was appointed” since he will be appointing judges in the future are they going to be there to implement PC policies?

I concur with the radio caller said he has reached his level of incompetence.

  8. The USA announced that Canadians who work, use or invest in marijuana industry after it is legalised will be banned from entering the US. Now Coca Cola is investing in a Cannabis related business in Canada, what action will the US take against the US executives?

  25. It seems the Saudis have gotten themselves involved in a mess of pottage?

  26. Funk

  27. @David

The Saudis have a protector in Washington, they bailed out 45 a few years ago and they bailed out his son in law more recently. The Saudi leader has said he has Kushner in his back pocket and the Editorials from a few newspapers wont amount to anything.

  28. @Sargeant

It is disgusting that on the basis of a telephone call with the Saudi crown prince he is willing to give the Kingdom a pass.

  29. @David

The Saudis have been pumping money into the Trump branded hotels (no he doesn’t own them) and by extension into his own pocket. When they descend on a city they curry favour with him by staying at these hotels and spending plane loads of money for accommodation, meals , conferences, parties etc. Trump is not going to rock that boat.

Trump has turned the old axiom of “what was good for America is good for General Motors” into “What’s good for Trump is good for America”

  30. @Sargeant

Any prediction for the US mid terms?

  31. NorthernObserver Avatar

The Democrats will get a majority in the House, and the Republicans will keep their minuscule majority in the Senate. Most of the Senate seats up for grabs are currently Democrat, I ‘think’ there are only 6 GoP Senate seats rotating.

  32. @David

NO has it about right, the Republicans may even increase their numbers in the Senate look for a 52-48 split.

  33. @Diasporians

What is the reaction to Trump criticizing the Fed? Obviously the Chairman has concerns about the economy overheating?

What the blogmaster is unable to unpack is the statement the US economy is strong but the flipside is that the deficit has been increasing post Obama period. Is the widening deficit of no consequence?

  34. @David

Deficits are bad when there is a Democratic President or Congress, when the Republicans rule the roost not so much

Ask yourself where the strength comes from? There is a bubble size amount of debt. Every level of the economy is now very sensitive to interest rates.
As the Fed is selling treasuries, so are China and Japan. The current acct shortfall hasn’t been this large since 2008. It will be interesting to see who buys this next big debt issue.

  37. @Sargeant

If the Republicans control the House look for reform to entitlement legislation if you believe the last part of the clip you posted?

  38. Timeless Herbal Care celebrates first legal international shipment of Cannabis oil from Jamaica to Canada.

  39. @David
Paul Ryan spent his whole career fighting to reduce the deficit not that it has ballooned under his watch he is going home to hide in Wisconsin. He is like King Herod washing his hands off the whole affair, and hoping voters won’t remember his contribution to the deficit when he makes his political return .

Remember the tax cuts? Remember how it was touted as helping the middle class? Well guess who will be paying for entitlement reform? Guess who will suffer the most if the ACA is reversed? Someone has to pay for the tax cuts and it won’t be the top 1% or the large Corporations. Sayonara to Medicare and Social Security.

We tend to think that everyone in the US is doing well but poverty is widespread in some areas of the US, I am speaking in relation to the US as a whole not in relation to a poor American vs a poor Bangladeshi.
