Barbados is still under a state of emergency and the Emergency Management Act holds supreme as law of the land as it was extended for no logical reason by the Ministry of Health yesterday September 13th. AG Dale Marshall in the press conference sought to defend the state of emergency legislation which de facto keeps the country under a prime ministerial dictatorship.  This state of emergency legislation has a clause that gives the PM absolute power over the country as previously stated in my video and in the nation newspaper.

(4)    When a proclamation of a public health emergency referred to in is in force, it shall be lawful for the Cabinet to make any Orders whatsoever it considers desirable in the public interest. This is a parliamentary dictatorship

(6)    In an Order made pursuant to subsections (4)  the Cabinet may delegate to the Prime Minister the power to make such directives as may be required in the public interest. Prime Ministerial Dictatorship

There is no emergency existing in Barbados, there will be no need to tighten protocols as we proceed full steam into the tourist season.  These dictatorship type laws need to be removed to bring democracy back to Barbados’ political system. The WHO and USA President Joe Biden declared the pandemic over however the government still finds a need to hold onto a power grab not because of a non-existent pandemic but the advantage of side stepping traditional processes under the old independence constitution which have some checks and balances in place.

While the Acting PM Santia Bradshaw and AG Dale Marshall were addressing the issue of relaxing covid protocols as recommended in my previous video and publications, a point also made by the Head of the private sector and also the head of the BHTA. The real PM mia mottley was meeting with the IMF to discuss BERT 2.0 as the countdown to the end of this current IMF comes to an end september 30th having divulged that her team are in advanced stages on pension reform . In her press conference previously she told a reporter that pension reform will indeed happen under this current program which is soon at it’s end.

Having feeling both internal and external pressure Barbados recently announced that majority of the covid-19 restrictions are to be dropped from 23rd September the financial losses are becoming too deep and this decision was announced in a press conference by acting PM Santia Bradshaw The loss of money from absent cruise ships and empty airplanes along with the fact most countries have moved past Barbados months ago is high on the list of reasons for the dropping of these restrictions as articulated by the acting PM.

This was long overdue as we had many mishaps, discrimination in how some classes of persons were treated by these covid laws and public events like general elections, crop over, unctad conference , the Afri – caribbean Conference as the public which includes the PM long ago decided that they will live with the presence of covid and lived life accordingly often ignoring the protocols.

However purposely left out the fact that The public should note Barbados has no declared constitution in place since the transition of the country to republic in 2021 and an update on when the new republic constitution should’ve been on the agenda for the acting PM and Ag’

This act must be discontinued and government should not pursue another IMF deal or pursue pension reform with this act in place.

Barbados is now a country that has no opposition leader , a country without a constitution and a country with directives that gives a PM such absolute power without any checks or balances in repeat is bordering on rouge governmental practice

Therefore committing Barbados to another program spells uncertainty especially for the future of democracy especially if your livelihood is dependent on government payout .

Certainly not unique in the so-called Latin America. For Cuba has voted this weekend to ‘codify the law of families’

And the traditional structure has been joined by others😁

The perceptions of Aquarius, you say!

  2. Only because there is no new constitution since the island became a republic, that doesn’t mean that no constitution is in place. The old one still applies.

Government has concentrated on preserving health and life and the Barbados tourism sector’s recovery lags the pace of the recoveries seen in Jamaica and in the Bahamas, not even to speak of DR. However, Barbados’ tourism recovery outpaces Cayman and Cuba.

  3. Joe Biden declared the pandemic over? Please, explain how this is relevant?

Also, if you want me to take you seriously, you must know the difference between a “rouge” (French for “red”) government and a “ROGUE” government.

I do agree that there is no longer an emergency. An endemic infectious disease cannot be so categorised because we simply cannot thrive in a constant state of emergency. We have to learn to live (or die) with it. Almost all of us will live.

Under the circumstances, I would question why the declaration has not been lifted. I am not yet prepared to make the leaps that you have though.

  4. Replace “?” with “!” where relevant!

  6. Perhaps this article best describes why a ‘handful of people’ were in attendance at the DLP’s meeting in Collymore Rock last night.

Too many generalized, alarmist statements. I expected Kemar Stuart, as an economist, should’ve placed a bit more emphasis on
critiquing ‘government’s’ economic policies, while explaining the disadvantages thereof and presenting alternatives.

they REFUSE to remove slave laws and codes from the 1800s…you really think they would want to remove the little dictatorial powers they got with their heads swollen like the Goodyear blimp….

the plandemic was MISUSED for that power grab…..they will find every excuse not to relinquish any of it, not when there are lands and estates to seize as reported……….nuff people need to lose theirs anyway, it will bring them into the glare of REALITY……holding their bellies and bawling would suit them…and would be a sight to behold.

  15. The theses put forward at the beginning are completely made up out of thin air and without substance. Misogynist DLP lies as ever. Our people are not subject to dictatorship. Rather, our people have just confirmed the one-party national government of our Supreme Leader in office, thereby blessing the one-party state and the unity of powers. This is nothing less than a perfect democracy with a flawless democrat at the helm.

The DLP should rather ask itself how many of its grandees enjoy the privilege of dual citizenship and are committing treason against the country and its people behind the scenes. Didn’t White Hewitt, a dual passport holder, recently side with his British Queen, and didn’t he want to stab our national poet in the back?

  17. I’ve several articles, in which he was referred to as ‘Economist Kemar Stuart.’

    Unless, you know otherwise.

But, that is ‘besides the point.’

Barbados needs a political party of which the members are more interested in presenting progressive policy initiatives to empower poor Barbadians and for the economic development of the island.

That ‘government’ introduces a policy whereby tax revenues are redistributed to ensure there is an equitable distribution of wealth, thereby reducing income inequality.
Ensuring low income earners receive adequate assistance with the burden created by the cost of living, while not compromising the incentive for them work and access opportunities to accumulate wealth.
Allowing resources to be allocated and used as productively and efficiently as possible to maximize economic growth.

Unfortunately, both political parties seem to be afraid or not interested in debating policies, preferring instead to talk shiite and spew rhetorical political diatribe.

  18. @ Artax

Well said. I am still waiting to here what was stated after the first 30 to 0 came to past.

” we will diversify the Barbadian ecomomy in a significant way so as to avoid its dependency on tourism so much.”

Would love a debate on how that will occur and when. Also what form will the diversification take?

Are you certain that the pandemic was not a project to achieve the same aims as the war in Ukraine.

People living around these labs have been complaining for decades about all kinds of rare illnesses.

There always seem to be a pandemic when an empire is a falling.

And talking about Ukraine, what inferences could be drawn from the presence of 30 of the 365 internationally illegal biowarfare labs found on that territory.

Why would these Ukranian stationed labs be advertising for the specific DNA profile of the Russian Slav as distinct from other Slavs?

In those 30, pathogens just happened to include variants of covid19 amongst other bad stuff. Monkey pox as also.

For this writer these series of events seem suspicious, to say the least.

    Just thinking.

  20. TheO,

No, I do not jest. Bajans often spell it that way. OFTEN.

  21. It is like how they almost always talk about “casting aspirations” instead of “casting aspersions”.

I make typos. I make spelling errors. We all do.

This “rouge” for “rogue” is not a typo. It is a typical Bajan error.

Apart from that, the man was just leaping all over the place. He really must do better.

  22. AND…I do not judge by person but by substance. This submission has no substance.

The young man, often described as an economist, just as Artax stated, did nothing but jump to conclusions about emergency powers.

Me? I would have simply asked the reason why the state of emergency has not been lifted. THAT is a legitimate question when asked responsibly.

    Been following it earlier.

Waru, even as we are living through in real time, a fascist spike, because it never went anywhere, there are some here who will continue to argue that fascism is a construct from the left merely because Hitler called at national socialism.

Indeed the roots of fascism extends to the “luminaries’ of the West and deep within their history, even if not so named. These include a racist like Winston Churchill and the Marque de Christiane, think his name so spelt, who in his writings caricatured Slavic peoples as monkeys, in other ways not dissimilar to how Afrikans have been, still are.

Then there are others who insist on an unsophisticated view of Whiteness. Titularly intelligent, it was only recently that their thinking about Whiteness was exposed to the truism that mere possessing caucusoid appearance alone does not make it in the measurement of Anglo-Saxons like Biden. Further. Whiteness was never only about the absence of melanin.

Of course, this is the case of the Bajan redlegged bacra seeking a place under Ra’s Sun and embracing narratives. even if unscientific, as a way of being. But the rest of us need not

These are the very people who laughed when we posited that Anglo-Saxons never considered the Slavic peoples to be White. You only have to examine the types of things the fascist Slavs in Ukraine are saying about their brothers in Russia. All informed by fascist historically in power in the West, using these their Strom Troopers for global power, as was Hitler.

For example, the Ukranian fascists argue that Russian blood is that of the Mongols. Therefore making them not White, not Aryan and therefore worthy of destruction. And yes, the profile of the Russian population is unlike the Anglo-Saxons.

Then there are those whose only point of departure and direction of travel are determined by White people. Well, White people have set the coordinates in our world. Continue to wait on them for a sense of being, we say to these.

But all the current leaders we’re seeing in the West are functionally fascists as well. They have no abiding commitment to democracy unless it serves their purposes as the religion to mislead the gullible. They even recruit some of us to do their bidding.

Remember, this writer was amongst the first to call Trump a fascist. That this shooting happened today in Russia draws straight lines to the indelible fascist nature of White people as demonstrated in NATO’s war on the Russian Federation That innocent children could be so targeted represents a depravity of the worst kind, a crime only White could so commit.

I saw this book of Russian icons recently, and interestingly those icons were ALL Afrikans…..but halfway through the book, they started to lighten to white significantly, so it got me thinking…….and you know where that train of thought would go…..it was shades of Argentina and other Latinx countries, even UK that whitened their Afrikan populations..

“Whiteness was never only about the absence of melanin.”

“Barbados needs a political party of which the members are more interested in presenting progressive policy initiatives to empower poor Barbadians …”

We have had such a so-called progressive policy since 1966, which consisted of destroying our manufacturing sector with excessive taxation, bullying and rebellious trade unionists.

Even Marx realised that socialism has industrial society as its precondition. We cannot jump from a plantation economy to socialism. You can’t redistribute wealth on the plantation, only create new poverty. That was precisely the categorical error of thinking of our Caribbean elites, led by Jamaica and Guyana.

We have no economic growth and no substantial wage increases since 2008, but 30-50 per cent inflation, coupled with excessive debt growth, infrastructure decay and increased crime among our natives.

The textbook case of Chile should teach us all that things can be done differently. There, the wise leader Augusto Pinochet took over the script of the Chicago School and liberalised the economy. What we really need therefore are lower taxes, the dismantling of social standards, privatisation, deregulation and the weakening of trade unions to stimulate the economy. Therefore, in Barbados, we need a strong, enlightened Supreme Leader to enforce the common good, as in Chile, against the selfish interests of trade unions, social partnership and other unpatriotic elements.

  37. Plantation economy to socialism?

The philanthropy of the age is moving heaven and earth to the overthrow of the institution of slavery. But slavery has no scientific definition. It is thought to consist in the feature of chattelism, but an ingenious lawyer would run his pen through every statute upon slavery in existence, and expunge that fiction of the law, and yet leave slavery, for all practical purposes, precisely what it is now. It needs only to appropriate the services of the man by operation of law, instead of the man himself. The only distinction then, left between his condition and that of the laborer who is robbed by the operation of a false commercial principle, would be in the fact of the oppression being more tangible, and undisguisedly degrading to his manhood.

If, in any transaction, I get from you some portion of your earning without an equivalent, I begin to make you my slave—to confiscate you to my uses; if I get a larger portion of your services without an equivalent, I make you still further my slave; and, finally, if I obtain the whole of your services without an equivalent,—except the means of keeping you in working condition for my own sake,—I make you completely my slave. Slavery is merely one development of a general system of human oppression, for which we have no comprehensive term in English, but which the French Socialists denominate exploitation,—the abstraction, directly or indirectly, from the working classes of the fruits of their labor. In the case of the slave the instrument of that abstraction is force and legal enactments. In the case of the laborer, generally, it is speculation in the large sense, or profit-making.

Working from a labor theory of value, Andrews believed that labor should be the standard of exchange in commercial transactions. Capital per se possesses no productive powers. It is merely accumulated labor, so capitalists who live by rent, interest, and other species of capital investment are in fact living at the expense of workers who actually produce something. Thus far Fitzhugh agreed with Andrews and other “socialists.” He praised their critical analyses of the antagonistic relationship between capital and labor. But having identified the problem, explained Fitzhugh, socialists fell short when it came to solutions. Some founded “utopian” communities that sought to alleviate the conflict, while others predicted the onset of the millennium after society had been purified of its major sins. (In 1851, Andrews co-founded, with his mentor Josiah Warren, Modern Times in New York, which used labor notes as the currency of exchange.) The vast majority of utopian social experiments had failed (Modern Times lasted for 12 years), according to Fitzhugh, yet socialists recommended that their economic system (based on the “cost principle”) be applied to all of society. Fitzhugh maintained that this would be disastrous. The conflict between capital and labor was inevitable in any society, so the only permanent solution was to minimize the conflict as much as possible. And slavery, which had existed for thousands of years, was the best remedy yet devised.

    WARU, do you concur?

Once your government and maximum leader are not directly pointed to it’s always all good wid you.

However, there’s only a marginal difference between an elected dictatorship and a fascist state.

Indeed, that marginal difference might not exist for much longer given the seemingly unstoppable forces at work.

  46. William Skinner September 27, 2022 6:52 AM #: “And as for the poor; you do know that there are poor people everywhere.”

    Mr. Skinner

Yes, “there are poor people everywhere.”
But, the difference lies in the fact as to what progressive policies ‘governments’ in the countries they live in, implement to either assist or empower them.

Another interesting observation is, politicians seem to exhibit similar attitudinal behaviours and personality characteristics.
Saying they ‘want to serve the people’ or work for the development of their constituencies, is just a guise to solicit votes.
Because they suddenly become unavailable to their constituents, soon after being elected,

What is also interesting is, ease with which they, as members of political party ‘A,’ for example, are able to join and are accepted by the opposing political party, ‘B,’ …… and subsequently rejoin and be reaccepted by ‘A.’
But, members of the DLP and BLP would want to convince us that the term ‘grasshopper’ is reserved only for Dr. Clyde Mascoll and Hamilton Lashley, respectively.

Take the DLP’s spokesman on health issues, Paul Gibson, for example.
Gibson was Solutions Barbados’ candidate for the St. Michael South constituency, in the 2018 general election.
He subsequently joined Joseph Atherley’s People’s Party for Democracy and Development, where he was spokesman on health issues as well

Then, on Thursday, January 14, 2021, former DLP president, Verla DePeiza announced Gibson became a member of that political party.
He ‘said that his desire is to serve and to make a contribution to the development of Barbados,’…… and “decided to become a part of the team in the rebuilding process.”
He contested the January 19, 2022 general elections as the DEM’s candidate for St. James Central.

It would be reasonable to ask Gibson if he really wanted to contribute to Barbados’ development, why couldn’t he have remained with either SB or PdP, while assisting with either party’s rebuilding process?

Perhaps his following comments answered that question:
“I came to the conclusion that at this particular time in the history of Barbados, Barbadians ARE NOT into SMALL parties… and in terms of being TAKEN SERIOUSLY, to WIN SEATS Rand to become an alternative government, that would be a way off.”

  47. Projects should benefit all Bajans

BARBADIANS SHOULD be able to create generational wealth from any big development projects established here and not just be the beneficiaries of being a worker who gets crumbs from the table.
This is the view of president of the Democratic Labour Party (DLP), Dr Ronnie Yearwood, who gave the wrap-up speech at his party’s public meeting at the junction of Pine Plantation Road and Collymore Rock, St Michael on Sunday night. Yearwood said that the Barbados Labour Party Government received overwhelming majorities but everything in Barbados felt “outta control”.
He said that Government announced and re-announced many projects but nothing got off the ground.
Yearwood also called on the Government to explain what was going on in Christ Church South “with the notice of compulsory land acquisition”.
“For a Government that loves to talk, why are they not talking to the residents of Christ Church? This has the all too familiar feeling of Emmerton. What is happening to the residents in Bayland? To the government complex in Holetown? Who are the developers? Whose interest do they serve?
I want to submit to you that no new project in Barbados should start unless those projects serve the interest of all Barbadians. A few cannot get rich at the expense of the rest of us. People at Dover and St Lawrence, we are coming to you,” he said.
“Whatever is going on there you have to be the winners of this.
Any project that is going on in Barbados should be put to a test.
Does it make the local landowners part of the project? Do they get to benefit financially?… Does it contribute to the socio-economic development of Barbados?”
Yearwood added: “Barbadians must have opportunities to create and grow existing businesses and not simply gain employment. But do the projects provide for wealth creation in that you as Barbadians will be able to use and open businesses on the basis of these projects.
That is how you build generational wealth.”
The DLP president said if the economy was doing well entrepreneurs would grow [and] for all the bluster of the Government the simple fact was that it was not working.
Yearwood said that “on paper this is supposed to be a very talented Government.
We have 24-hour constant communication . . . Yet everything feels outta control: failing tourism product, failing schools, no big projects started, no economic growth, unemployment, consultants by the bucketload, roads being fixed that don’t need fixing”.
“This Government is suffering from a problem of competency.
    It seems unable to do
the smallest of projects. …Thousands of you worked hard, you trusted the government bonds, you saw your retirement savings lost…the credit union lost $33 million, the NIS lost $1.2 billion to restructuring and we have a Government pretending that the restructuring and the loss to the NIS was not a big deal,” he said.
Yearwood also dismissed a letter that he said he got from the Government inviting him to be a member of an advisory committee for the National Insurance Scheme “without so much as a courtesy call…”.
“I want to remind the Government of Barbados – the Prime Minister of Barbados.
I do not work for you.
I work for the people of Barbados through the Democratic Labour Party,” he said. (JS)

let them keep sticking their mouth in things that’s out of their immediate control……and don’t deal with the corruption, slave laws. slave codes and racists/white supremacists still destroying the socio-economic fabric on deliberately pauperized and oppressed islands….

while using the bigger countries as a measuring stick to DISTRACT….these are crimes WITHIN THEIR PARLIAMENTARY CONTROL TO ABOLISH…….let them continue to side step and dance around THE REAL PROBLEMS…….while pretending they don’t exist….

Pacha…they can only pretend but for so long……and NO LONGER…
