A poem by Barbados cultural ambassador, Anthony ‘Gabby’ Carter, on the death of
Elizabeth Windsor, queen of England has generated unwarranted criticism from
certain quarters on the island. The poem, reprinted below, points out some truths
about the British monarch and her relationship to the crimes of British colonialism.

For those with a strong allegiance to British colonialism, these truths were a bitter pill
to swallow and so, just like Malcolm X described, they jumped to the defence of their
colonial ‘massa’. Local media reported that some people labelled the poem as
“disrespectful”, “distasteful” and “uncivilised” while others demanded that the
Barbados government revoke Gabby’s National Honour status if he does not
apologise for penning the poem. Guy Hewitt, former Barbados High Commissioner to
the United Kingdom and recent contender for leadership of the opposition
Democratic Labour Party is reported as having strongly condemned the poem and
described it as bringing dishonour to Barbados. He is also reported to have stated
that not only was the poem in poor taste but that it also, “displayed Gabby’s
ignorance of the role of a constitutional monarchy, the history of the Commonwealth
of Nations and the late Queen’s role in it.”

In reality, it is those who are attacking Gabby and his poem who are bringing
dishonour on the country. Even as the country is trying to step forward as a new
republic, they are trying to honour and glorify its monarchical past under which the
African descendants were enslaved and subjected to every indignity under Britain’s
colonial apartheid. Those who want to defend Britain’s colonial crimes against the
people of Barbados but lack the courage to do so openly, try to frame the issue as
one of respect for the dead. But let Vladimir Putin die suddenly tomorrow and you
will see how much they believe in not speaking ill of the dead. How exactly was this
respect for the dead demonstrated on the death of Muammar Gadhafi, Robert
Mugabe or any other political leader that came into conflict with British colonialism?
No, this has nothing to do with respecting the dead and everything to do with
defending Britain’s colonial crimes.

Those who claim that Gabby doesn’t understand “the role of a constitutional
monarchy, the history of the Commonwealth of Nations and the late Queen’s role in
it” demonstrate with this statement that they are the ones who are ignorant of
Britain’s colonialist political system and the role that its monarchy and royal family
play in this oppressive arrangement. If Guy Hewitt’s words have been accurately
reported in the media, he has a lot of explaining to do to the people of Barbados.
Why is someone who aspires to political leadership in our country condoning and
justifying Britain’s colonial crimes against our people? Why is he attempting to falsify
history in order to justify these crimes? What type of political leadership can such an
individual provide?

Gabby is right and his poem expresses the sentiments of many Bajans. We need to
raise our voices and make this clear so that those trapped in mental slavery
understand that they’re not going to be able to drag us back or stop our forward
march.

GOOD RIDDANCE TO RUBBISH

She was over there in Africa
When she get de news
She father dead
She’ll be de British Head
No hesitation
No excuse !
There she was
Age twenty one
In the prime of her health
Flying home
Not to roam
But to Queen of the Commonwealth !
Queen of all of India
And New Zealand too
Canada and Australia
Mixed up in de brew
The English – speaking Caribbean
Will now become her tool
Over all these places
Young Lizzy will Rule !
All their natural resources
She hoarded
With an Iron Fist
Britania kept on rolling
Lizzy did see to this!
This quiet
Wicked Woman
Never lifted a hand
To help bring Reparations
To any Caribbean land

She stood in silence
( And full support )
When one Winston Churchill
Killed millions of poor Indians
Oh what a bitter pill !
She never uttered a single word
Against that Peta Botha
Whose Apartheid Regime
Unleashed its killer Beam
On the Blacks of South Africa
She inherited millions of pounds
From the gains of slavery
Yet she allowed each colony
To wallow in poverty
Seventy five
Long hard years
This Monarch Liz did Reign
She made sure her colonies
Made no economic gain
A few hours ago
We got the news
No lies
Fakes news or tricks
That Lizzy
Queen of England died
At the age of ninety six
I can’t offer no sympathy
I’ve never been a hypocrite
Her son Charlie
Is sure to be

Sitting where she did sit
At last !
He will become the Monarch
The British Ruler
The King !
If he brings us Reparations
Then I will support him !

  1. David,

This guy beats the British at their “own game”!

    Brilliant wit! BRILLIANT!

  2. Yes, brilliant Donna. The struggle was the same for all the colonies. India and a few others with scale combined with leadership have been able to achieve but current state is not perf. It is a process.

  3. Still listening!

    MURDAAAAAAAAAAH!

  4. Oh hell! He even managed to stitch up the SCOTS!

The Indians pulled Scotland out of poverty!

  5. David,

I resolve to post this after every racist comment. Nothing I could ever say could come anywhere near this.

I could listen to this guy ALL DAY!

It seems the former colonies are forming a coalition to speak the truth for each other.

  6. Oh dear! I just holla out suh hard that it woke up my son. He rushed to see if there was an emergency!

Sending this to my best friend who posts on other forums.

LONDON — An Oxford Union debate in which a senior Indian legislator, Shashi Tharoor, made a very funny speech last week calling for Britain to make reparations to India for the sins of the Raj, ignited a social media firestorm that culminated in Prime Minister Modi echoing the call as if it were serious.

Leave aside for the moment how demeaning it would be for a nation as powerful as modern India to revel in victimhood and call for reparations from only the most recent of its many conquerors. Consider instead the sparkling performance and personality of Tharoor, the author, politician, diplomat and socialite who for three decades has cut a suave figure in salons from New Delhi to New York.

Tharoor’s speech was witty, perfectly timed, elegantly delivered, glib, historically dubious, superficial, sophistical and shamelessly crowd-pleasing in exactly the way that Oxford (and Cambridge) Union speeches are supposed to be. In other words it had all the qualities — and all the flaws — of the traditionally frivolous upper-class British intellectual style.

    ……… etc.

  20. “Some may feel that I (hate) Ronnie. O and his party.

‘Ronnie O’ was ‘in the bossom’ of the BLP and even expressed his interest to ‘run’ as that political party’s candidate for the constituency of St. James South.

On the night of Saturday, October 22nd, 2016, at West Terrace Primary School, Sandra Husbands (87 votes) defeated ‘Ronnie O’ (41) to secure the nomination as the BLP’s candidate for St. James South in the 2018 general elections.

Since then, ‘Ronnie O’ switched allegiance to the DLP…… something that is a commonplace occurrence within the ‘duopoly.’
He was nominated as that party’s candidate for St. James South in the January 2022 general elections.
And, was subsequently elected as president of the DLP.

My outlook on this situation is, the BEES did not nominate Ronnie, so ‘jumped ship’ to join the DEMS….. and, in doing so, he is NOW CRITICISING what he PREVIOUSLY UPHELD or AGREED with.
He was among those BLP politicians who were on a mission to get the DLP ‘voted out of office.’
He PREVIOUSLY talked about Grantley Adams, and is CURRENTLY singing Errol Barrow ‘praises.’
And, is now PROMOTING himself as ‘saviour’ of that same political party…… and, by extension, Barbados.

Similarly to Mottley and the BEES, he has a SLOGAN, “New Politics”……

…… and recently engaged in an activity SIMILAR to Mottley’s “Rubbing Shoulders,” under the name, “Listening Tour.”

Ronnie Yearwood is just another ‘smooth talking politician.’

No matter how party supporters may want deny it, there AREN’T any SIGNIFICANT political, philosophical or ideological differences between the BLP and DLP.

  29. Genetic evidence that Europeans are albinos: “I am convinced that a white skin is not natural for man and that, by nature, he has a black or brown skin like our ancestors, Hindus, and that the white man has never been created by nature and that, therefore, there is no race of whites … ”. METAPHYSICS OF SEXUAL LOVE by Arthur Schopenhauer. » white German philosopher (1788-1860) .

It has been clearly demonstrated that white skin is a sign of albinism. Scientifically, albinism is a genetic defect.

Recessive genes (ALLELE) can not reproduce anything else than another gene recessive! In the presence of a recessive gene, the dominant gene dominates the recessive because the recessive gene produces a protein that, in turn, yields little or no end product. Thanks to powerful propaganda and indoctrination, we have completely forgotten what it means to have white skin. We have been cleverly deceived to believe that white skin is the anthropological model of humanity. However, the research paints an image of white skin that is just the antithesis of what we have been indoctrinated to believe.

Recently, in 2005, a major molecular cause of this change in skin color was discovered in Europeans. Specifically, the SLC24A5 gene is found to be critical for the production of melanin, the predominant dark pigment of skin and hair. …100 percent of Europeans have a mutation in the SLC24A5 gene that alters the function of the protein ..-. SLC 24A5 was identified in 2005 by Dr. Keith Cheng a geneticist from the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania, USA-. Asians share the fully functional version of SLC24A5, but have acquired mutations in other genes that result in lighter skin while maintaining dark hair [Francis Collins, The Language of Life (NY: Harper, 2010), p. ]. ”

Just as SLC24A5 is a gene that denotes albinism, so does SLC45A2, an albino gene that causes skin cancer in white people after prolonged exposure to the sun.

Obviously Europeans are conflicted and delusional about their skin color. On the one hand, they know intuitively that their color can’t be healthy and natural, their predisposition to skin cancer proves that. But on the other hand, they can’t stand to admit the obvious truth either.
