  6. I saw a video of what I think was a shooting in Barbados. The rapidity of the gunfire was frightening to me.

    https://barbadostoday.bb/2022/09/02/bteditorial-top-cop-knows-the-gun-groups-now-what-next/
    From BT
    “We know who they are but it is a time-consuming thing so we ask the public to have a level of patience and give us their confidence and we can also reassure them that we can make the necessary inroads to bring those persons to justice.”

    Now I am against police brutality, but silly me know that you have to crack an egg to make an omelet.
    Just put some effort into getting the right balls, but it is ball busting time.

    (Was having some trouble with the word omelet. Was hoping for auto-correct to come to the rescue and it didn’t. It’s part of a big conspiracy to make us look more foolish than we are)

  7. Well, this is not murder but taking food out of the mouth of hard-working people need
    We can talk of agriculture and what needs to be done, but the best argument against not planting anything is praedial larceny of any kind. Greatest threat to food security. Public enemy #1.

  8. Well, this is not murder but taking food out of the mouth of hard-working people needs to be severely punished.

  9. Who’s next? Lawson? Hants?

    From BT
    March 31, 2022
    A $20 000 fine was imposed on a Canadian woman who imported almost $100 000 worth of marijuana into Barbados last week.

    August 27, 2022
    An American woman has been fined $19 000 for importing a large amount of marijuana into Barbados.

    August 31, 2022
    Making it clear that resorting to illegal means was not the answer, Magistrate Deidre Mckenna ordered a Canadian man to pay $80 000 or face 36 months at Dodds for importing marijuana into Barbados.

    BT Instagram
    I think this was yesterday..
    “A Canadian woman who came into Barbados with $200 000 worth of cannabis in her luggage last weekend has been slapped with a $60 000 fine. º Daniell Zolyomi, from Tower Crest Drive, Hamilton, Toronto, Ontario, will spend 18 months in prison if the money is not paid.

    Magistrate Deidre McKenna on Tuesday handed down the forthwith fine on the 59-year-old for importing the cannabis into the country last Saturday. The convicted woman was convicted, reprimanded, and discharged for trafficking and reprimanded and discharged for possession and possession with intent to supply..”

  10. @TheoGazerts,

    Are you implying that I am a drugist involved in the export business ?

  11. @TheoGazerts,

    Hope you listening to Brasstacks.

  12. @Hants.
    If called upon, I will vouch for you
    But my word carries very little weight.

    Listening.

    @TheO
    I have similarly noted the rising number of drug mules from Canada getting caught.
    They seem to have gone from the “students” to the “desperate 60yr olds”. It is most disturbing.

  14. OOOPS
    That link has been cited before

  15. AG Marshall

    And while Marshall has assured Barbadians that they have nothing to worry about
    +++++++++
    That’s right folks “Don’t worry be happy”,

    Do Bajans have any confidence in this man?

    https://barbadostoday.bb/2022/09/03/ag-crime-situation-cant-be-solved-overnight/

  16. https://barbadostoday.bb/2022/09/03/police-link-multiple-gun-related-crimes-to-affiliated-units-exacting-their-own-vengeance/

    From BT
    Griffith said investigations had also revealed that the murders were as a result of persons taking the law into their own hands.

    “In one particular case there was a man on bail for three murders and one would expect that along the way he would have created several enemies and given the climate that exists amongst those persons anything can happen at any time,” Griffith maintained.

    What is he saying here. One moment it is among gangs and the next moment it is vigilante justice. Must the vigilante be a gang member, or could it be a victim’s family member who seeing the slow pace of injustice tries takes matter into his/her own hand.

    He could have been more exact and say “The murderers could be anybody, but we are hot on their trail”

  17. What he is clearly saying is that it is vigilante justice being carried out between two or three groups.

  18. I saw Sargeant has already provided you with the link above.

    Show me a person who believes that crime can solved overnight, and I will show you an idjit or even 2 (if you think it can be so). I will now tell you how I saw the article

    From BT
    “The first thing I’d like to say is that we must not lose sight of the fact that this is a spike. From practically time in memoriam we have always seen, whether it is in relation to homicides, gun-related crimes, burglaries, we’ve never seen a consistent level of activity. It dies down and then periodically it will emerge as a spike again. While the nature and extent of this spike could not have been anticipated by anyone, we see no reason to believe this is a start of what could be an extended trend,” Marshall said.

    **Breaking news. The volume of crime goes up and down; it fluctuates.

    From BT
    “These shootings are not random shootings.”
    ** Breaking news. All the time, i thought they were at random.

    From BT
    ons who have been identified as targets, we too expend tremendous resources in protecting those persons. We take those persons into safe custody and keep them safely until things die down and if we were not doing that, mind you, our murder rate would be skyrocketing,”

    **Hogwash. If anything, you have delayed the murder. What you need to do is to get gunmen off the streets and in prison.

    From BT
    “Acting Assistant Commissioner of Police, David Griffith said the BPS was working around the clock and had so far solved 15 of the 28 murders to date.”

    ** And all this time I thought the police force was on duty for 24 hours

    Summary: Music for some; a placebo for some; and a lot of hot air for others. You may disagree.

  19. https://barbadostoday.bb/2022/09/02/get-it-right/

    He got it right.

    Several time we have seen the GoB of The RoB getting it done and then having to do it over.. It is time we abandon “Get it done” and adopt “Get it right”.

    Now that we are fully aware that money is short (and missing) we have to “measure twice and cut once”. The do-over government of 2018-2022 needs to be left behind in the dust.

    So let’s get it right (first time)

  20. “** And all this time I thought the police force was on duty for 24 hours…”
    ~~~~~~~~~~
    Yes, “the police force is on duty for 24 hours.”
    Police officers work three (3) shifts, which is basically 24 hours. Sometimes detectives work 12 hour shifts.
    Detectives assigned to particular cases, for example, are sometimes required to work beyond their shifts…… in other words, extended hours, while relinquishing off days.
    As ACP Griffith said, ‘working around the clock.’
  21. https://barbadostoday.bb/2022/09/03/dlp-on-a-listening-tour-to-understand-issues-confronting-various-sectors/
    Ronnie O is getting it right.
    From BT
    “I said we were going to start a Listening Tour where we go out to hear different sectors of the country, understand what their needs are and then we will be able to take that back and process it and come up with ideas and policies to assist them,”
    Listening to the voice of the people is listening to the voice of God. Letting the people speak is letting God speak.
    (Sometimes, I am being deliberately wicked).
  22. It saddens me that I am unable to enter the other conversation that are ongoing.
    Perhaps, it is because I am a bread and butter. or meat and potato guy. We tend not to get too excited with promises and bright lights.
    A little meat and potato on the plate with some bread on the side to soak up the gravy and you got me. Ice cream and wishful thinking, I tend to avoid. We wait and see.
    September 2, 2022
    From BT
    “(BRIDGETOWN, Barbados, CMC) – The Barbados-based Caribbean Climate Outlook Forum (CariCOF) is predicting that over the next three months there will be frequent tropical cyclone activity, heatwaves, wet days, and wet spells as well as high air humidity.”
    Going to give you three words and ask you to use your imagination (hurricane/wet/heat season)
    The first of my departures
    It is great where I am. I am having a blast. Have a great day folks.
